Arguably, there's been a bit of communication error with many third party and some first party developers as of late. Whether or not a title should come west, the actual popularity and financial success of a series, company supply vs fan demand... It's been rough. One of the biggest debates at hand right now, is the godfather of all JRPG's Dragon Quest. Its presence in the west has diminished as of late, but the fans still want to have access to the franchise. They've been campaigning hard, just as we IGAvania fans have; but it is currently unknown as to how their battle will end. Given the circumstances, this begs a question. What series would you like to see brought outside the land of the rising sun, and what changes would you like to see implemented to your favorite franchises? I'd like to see what the community thinks about the localization process, and what titles they have their eyes on in the east, so please do share your thoughts!

Yep. I'm all over the Phoenix Wright series. Then again, I also play old school dungeon crawlers, like Wizardry or Etrian Odyssey... So I guess those count if Persona counts?

Hello everyone, My name is Elenie, I'm from Brazil and I like games, animes and mangas in general. I'm a fan of SoTN, but unfortunately, I could not back the Bloodstained KS project. When I knew about it, was too late ;_;. But at least, I can buy the retail version for PS4 I found this forum from Google and it looks really nice! And I hope we can talk about a lot of things related to Bloodstained and other stuffs =^.^= I'm not sure if Paypal operates in Brazil, but you can still donate to the project now, if you'd like! Either way, Welcome to the army of the night! I hope you enjoy your stay with us. This place is... to "DIE" for. Muahaha. Click here to get redirected to the Paypal backer site!

Transmutation is a good idea... Maybe manipulate the terrain for travel? rearrange hidden walls into passages, move the ceiling or floor and turn it into stairs, transforming her body into different forms for combat, altering her stats temporarily (boost strength and drop intelligence, or boost defense, drop constitution. Things like that. Increase gold drop rates in exchange for EXP or vice versa.)

With the addition of the extra modes (especially the Rogue dungeon mode) this game will never technically "end", per se. I feel that adding extra events to the days of the week would be... unnecessary, unless gauged by the internal clock. The last internal clock I recall being used in a Castlevania 2D title, was in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. It operated on real time, at a 1/1 ratio. To be honest, while it was a cool idea... it was difficult to be on at the required hours of the day to get the effects of the stat boosting rings and necklaces.
Adding days of the week with locked down events would make this even more difficult, as most people are not likely to be able to dedicate a lot of time to gaming, with professions and other life matters. Now, if it follows an internal clock similar to Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness... I can see that working out very, very nicely indeed. Time would flow at a reasonable pace that makes it "feel" like a long time has passed, according to how characters and enemies move, the size of the castle, and such.
Either way, we have plenty of replay value as it stands, with the default modes. Maybe add a post-game content story though, if the team sees fit? Alternate routes in New game plus, is one way to do this...

Oho. I was wondering when one of these threads would appear from the mist... So, I believe I'll join in as well. Here's a fair question. I was wondering... How exactly are we supposed to upgrade our pledge if we backed on Kickstarter, but only have the slacker backer Paypal option? Do we need to pay the full price and get a refund, or can we just add to our current pledge? Will upgrades be a question asked during the survey?
Does anyone have any idea how this will work? Has anyone tried upgrading yet?

Hello everyone, I'm Canopus! My real name? There are some who call me... Tim. Anyway. I'm a journalist. I run a press agency named Moonkeep Studios, and I was indeed the fellow who translated the Kickstarter flyer runes a few months back. Yes, those that were posted to Facebook's "Operation: Akumajo" page, of which I also help moderate. But, since we're all IGAvania fans here, I should dispense with the formality and get down to brass tacks. I'm here to follow and interact with the community, write editorials, get to know the people behind the magic, and celebrate the return of classic 2D platforming. My favorite pastimes are video games, reading up on mythology, writing, photography, cooking, event planning, and socializing. A few favorite games series of mine are as follows: Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Brandish, Suikoden, Lunar, The Legend of Zelda, and (of course) Castlevania. If you'd like to know more about myself or what I do, please don't hesitate to ask. It is a pleasure to meet you all! Welcome! Is Moonkeep Studios a place where we can read your editorials? It's great to have another Operation: Akumajo mod here. You have been part of the Bloodstained hype probably the longest because you translated the flyer. We would love an editorial on some of the things in our external links board that we can't translate. So good to have you! Thank you so much! A pleasure to be here. Yes indeed, you can catch up on my editorials there. I have a few up now, but we are migrating to a new host after switching from our old one. We are also undergoing a major internal overhaul, so things are a little more quiet than usual, while we clean up and get things all in order. You'll find our webpage here. Please do feel free to stop on by and look around in the meantime, though! If you have any questions or suggestions, you can submit them here.

Data passing is cool... but how would that work? If someone bought the prequel on 3DS and the main game on another console; would it be rendered void, or use a password system? The same issue applies with cross console between any company. A clever idea, but not viable for such a huge launch, unless kept in house or using passwords...
IGA is already a boss in the main game, so I would much prefer to leave him out of the teaser game. I'd also suggest against linking the two separate games via cross play, as it can cause unknown issues and complications, and would just serve as a setback. Besides, why add the entire prequel title to the main game, and waste space for an entirely new section??
That's... a lot of monsters, and one major press on the CPU. Rendering would quickly become an issue. I don't think it would work.
Besides, I'd prefer a one on one battle with the master of the night, in all his glory. Full force, and powered up to wipe the floor with a player. Given that it's IGA's style to make bosses a challenge, your real challenge can be one that is self imposed. Defeat IGA without taking damage (it's a mandatory rule that each boss made for his games should be able to be defeated this way).

Wings and flight are a must for me. Doubly so if you can fight while flying, or have unique moves while airborne (dive bombing and sky dashing)! These are always awesome, and were done very, very well in Order of Ecclesia. Each character could have different colored wings, to reflect their outfit or personality, or a totally different mode of flight altogether. Mounts are always fun, but are usually solely there for aesthetics, or to traverse spikes (though maybe a healing mount where some creatures carry Miriam would be cool). High, double and triple jumping is a must; as are dive kicks and teleports.

Mmm... I'm against locking out combat for underwater areas. How else will we collect crystals from ocean born enemies?? Besides, it doesn't feel natural to lock it out. Miriam will be there to fight for her life, not take a leisurely deep sea diving trip. Further, she will clearly have magic (likely electric magic, at that); so what reason would there be to omit these as gameplay elements? Challenge is one thing. I'd limit what she could use underwater. No heavy weaponry, electricity would conduct and damage her as well, whip like weapons would be useless and ineffective, while knives and small-arms would be fully viable, albeit slightly slower, while pole-arms would only be able to thrust (similar to a harpoon).
These seem more accurate to me, though in her case... I suppose she can break rules. Whatever the result, I am staunchly against removing underwater combat, as it would omit the entirety of water based demon killing and crystal collecting. (No combat against mermaids, none against giant cephalopods. Zero against water demons, Poseidon, Leviathan, or anything of the sort.)
It becomes a burden as opposed to a boon, and limits creativity to dodge mechanics and underwater puzzles.

Are you referring to a room similar to the one found in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance? If so, that would certainly add to the collectables... I'm not quite sure how fitting all of that into it would go, though. Considering the screen size, I doubt it'll have a bathroom, unless the room is upgraded to Shanoa's wing of the castle. Though, if it was to be a wing... I'd imagine as a sort of "twisted obsession" focused area, one where she's idolized and semi worshiped/mobbed by overly obsessed demons.
A doll in Gebel's collection, really.

If I could hit the right tier, I'd say PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4,that way I can use cross-play if it is implemented. (Hopefully it will be!) Though it's greedy to say, cross-buy/cross-play for backers would be a super sweet perk. (dreaming, obviously. But maybe as a later sale via Sony PSN?) Either way, I'll probably go this route, as my PC is terrible, I don't own a Wii U (it's legacy hardware now, anyway), and I have no real interest in the XBox One.

8-bit graphics, go for 8-bit music and sound (snip) kdfukuyama, Shovel Knight most certainly was not in what you would call "authentic" 8 bit format. It actually ran on a 32 bit C++ build, powered by DirectX, and Open GL. The music is certainly 8 bit though! (gotta love that VRC6!) Ah, but I digress. In fact, Yacht Club Games had admitted to "cheating" a little in order to enhance the visuals and sound quality beyond the standard 8-bit system. Some examples were seen in the UI and HUD, where the upper half of the screen was rendered as a separate layer to permit animations, multiple color palettes all running at once (and 32-bit color textures), breaking the 32k memory limit (SK is clocking in at about 1.2 gigabits, or 150MB), some rules were bent on the sounds as well. Anyway. back on topic... Since Bloodstained will be operating on the 4th build of the Unreal engine, I feel that a 32-bit title would be more aesthetically correct for the reasons stated above. I'd like to avoid another Mighty Gunvolt, if possible. As for the sounds... 8 bit Virt style would be amazing in Castlevania. Citing his work with Shovel Knight made me realize something. Remember that VRC6 I mentioned earlier? Take a listen to this! These are cross comparisons of the Castlevania 3 OST to the Akumajou Densetsu style using the VRC6. Sound familiar? I say let's aim high for the night sky. 8 bit OST with high quality 32 bit sprite work, rendering and all! Though on the 3DS screen (considering it's release format), if stereoscopic 3D is used... perhaps toggling it down a few notches to 16 bit might be better. Either way, It's a matter of finding a comfortable middle for the Vita and 3DS.

I think I'll go with the fourteen minute cycle. That gives plenty of time to sample both atmospheres, while constantly keeping the game fresh. Additionally, it tends to keep the player on their toes, should enemies only appear at certain times (AKA Some during day, some during night).

Of course. I plan to bump from the $60 to the $100 tier. Money is tight, but I simply must give what I can to the project. Besides, the rewards alone are well worth it. Two games and a bunch of collectables? How can I not?
Though, I'm unsure of how that process would work...
