so.....I just did the Coil of Bahamut.....and by did, I mean got Mega/Terra Flared to the face, and spent 80% of the fight on the floor while others did the work for me. Which makes me feel terrible, cause 1) I feel like dead weight (I hate when I'm useless) and 2) I didnt really get a chance to learn any of the mechanics, how to avoid Mega Flare or Terra Flare, etc. I felt like I once again didnt deserve that victory. Hopefully, i'm able to carry myself when i get to the Crystal Tower. To be fair, I really don't like that mentality in XIV. There's not a lot of encouragement to "try it as you go" from Anon's; let alone people you get via the Duty Finder (hence why people tend to use other party forming methods now). Instead, you'll get a lot of people saying something like: "Why didn't you YouTube this fight first"? To be honest... I for one, feel that some prefer (or even tend) to learn faster by action and hands on experience. In such a case... People can use their character's stats the way they built them, get a feel for how a character can handle the bosses, learn the timing for attacks, blocks, and aggro; and can learn to parse their DPS. All of that in turn helps me to develop an effective pattern and build. Not all YouTube videos or tutorials are as detailed and accurate as that; and some actually cannot account for random actions taken by raid or FATE bosses. Truth be told, I don't feel that's a healthy mentality to have. It sends the learning experience to a source outside the game, which destroys community effort; and that in turn demolishes learning and effort. It's the same problem I had with WoW back in the heyday, around the time I had friends heckling me to get into it. Hearing people complain to skip the cut-scenes is another issue, as it breaks immersion and disrupts focus. It's my opinion that some people tend to get a bit too caught up in the grind and loot farm (which is totally fine if that's why you're forming a party outside DF, since you can screen your members); and tend to forget about what they're missing. In fact, I (and no fewer than 2 others) missed the climax to both the 1.0 and 2.0 game; because we were forced to rush through. Going back to the inn and watching the scenes as they had suggested completely ruins that experience for us; never mind the fact that we didn't even have time to learn anything about the fights (let alone the stage leading up to them), because they wanted the exp and loot so badly. It wasn't until I hopped servers, swapped free companies 3 times, and did some digging that I got the experience most players look for on their first run. Thing is, CT (Crystal Tower) and BCB (Binding Coil of Bahamut) parties tend to do that a lot; and you'll see more of that in WoD (World of Darkness). That being said, you shouldn't feel so bad. After all, it's because no one really communicates during boss fights (for many reasons). That, and XIV lacks a native VoIP party chat; which would be VERY helpful for Statics, friends forming Light Parties, and Free-Companies. Add to that, the fact that few players have enough manners to help a first time player with a boss; and some players can have a really rough experience. Nowadays, I tend to help everyone. I feel that may in turn, lead other players to help others. That helps the community grow. Either way, don't sweat the haters or your performance, A.F.. It's just how a few runs go now and then. Hopefully, if I ever do come back... I can form a community of people who enjoy immersion, so I can help others enjoy their experience. But... We'll see. It all depends on how things look via my eyes and ears in the game, still. Keep your head up, keep running your dungeons, practicing your cool-downs and combos. You'll master it. No problem! Good luck to ya!

If you decide to go the desktop route, let me know and give me a budget to work with. I'll go online and put a build together for you That is, if you're okay with building your own PC. You can save alot of money doing it that way! I don't mind a desktop. I can always pick up a tablet for use on the go, and for work. (though, that would set me back a good bit extra, I'd think) How about... $800 - $1000? It would take me about two months or so to gather those funds, but it's certainly within reason. I don't imagine that the market would fluctuate all that much. What can I do with that? Or do you think that would be considered overkill?

Plannin' on going to either Metro or Megacon this year? Maybe. I'll need to see how things will shape up. Between work and other things, it's been... Difficult to find free time. How about you?

Goob, I like this idea. But it might make it a bit cluttered, don't you think? You could always ask a member in the area for that sort of tip, though!

Shantae like. Not an exact nod of course, but maybe something a little more in the vein of her dress style. Flowing, with a few sashes or a half cape. I'd also love to see something with moving wings. Not that it would alter gameplay, but more so that it will be an accent. Perhaps with holy or unholy defense as an innate trait?

Hello, hello! Fellow beta tester here! I've been on board since phase 2 of the 2.0 beta. A pleasure to meet you all! During my usual play sessions, I normally specialize in market oversight, order fulfillment, crafting companies, and newcomer introduction courses. I have plans to run an alliance of crafters to help stabilize the markets on Cactuar, in an attempt to stem the tide of bots, poor trading practices, and inflation/deflation. Crafting should be an excellent and profitiable experience for everyone involved; as opposed to a cutthroat market that sinks more often than wall-street. I run a high end Paladin and White Mage; but I have been known to run a (good) Dragoon, as well. I'm not much for Summoners or Scholars (too many variables, after all); and I have yet to touch any of the Heavensward classes. I have roots in the Cactuar, Faerie, and Goblin servers. Easily my favorite experience from back during the beta, was the stump-o-doom off in Gridania. We had over 200 people in a line to attempt some sort of quest (I believe it was to fight a cursed treant), but people were unable to withdraw the blade that damaged the stump; thus barring progress to advance your plot. I recall that several of us were archers and helped to keep the mobs off of the majority of people in the queue, while others took on the de facto role of on site crew manager. Imagine that... Caliburn's Legend in a beta for Final Fantasy XIV. This was probably the most civil I had ever seen any MMO, and I am pleased to say that by the end of that weekend... we had fixed that bug for good. Huzzah!

Regarding a certain "overused" plot device: I feel like Death Stars in Star Wars are like mechs/Metal Gears in Metal Gear. They're the most powerful weapon in universe, so of course they're going to keep refining and iterating on them. I don't see why people were surprised the bad guys wanted to build their universe's de facto superweapon. You know, that's actually why I liked Mitth'raw'nuruodo more than your usual Sith or evil wannabe Sith. No doomsday weapon, no death star or planet killer. Just good old fashioned naval commanding tactics, grandstanding, and a good plan. He nearly did it, too. Anyway... about the film in question... Egh... I'm honestly not sure how to feel. I could vent about the vents on Kylo's saber for hours. That and whatever happened to the physics regarding light sabers... I also feel like we lost a good bit of context, in order to account for screen time. Regardless, we'll see what this does...

1. I have a great fondness of key lime pie, tropical fruits, puddings, hot teas (especially herbal tea!), and Greek/Italian cuisines. The ironic part being, that I am Italian and tend to make a mean general tso, but I can't make a solid Tiramisu... 2. Hmm... a food I want to try? I suppose that would probably be authentic dango or spring rolls. I couldn't quite master the recipe for dango, and I'd love to try it! 3. Food effects in Bloodstained? Well, health or magic regeneration is always nice... That or status effect healing. Herbal teas can help with that quite well, after all!

So, in lieu of a new job (huzzah, payday!), I am now on the hunt to get the best PC (laptop preferred) for my money. In this case, I thought to turn to the army of the night. I need one that will help me through daily functions in an office setting , but still be able to keep me gaming for a good decade or more.
That being said... What does your rig of dreams look like? What do you consider to be a fair deal for a new laptop? Should I get one custom built, or should I get one that's pre-built with high end specs?

Without a doubt. We need a shop to balance out the gameplay. We would also benefit from being able to list rare exclusive items up for trade or sale to other players (or a randomizer) via a randomized "alchemy convert" system.
If online with other players: "Place item into slot, connect to server. Transmit data and item, obtain random item." If offline: Place item into slot, Offer random amounts of currency/souls to convert, obtain new item. (include exclusive items to get this way)
New items should also be unlocked based on in game actions and new game+.

Oh my. Which series would I like to see new entries for? Where to begin? *takes a deep breath* Breath of Fire VII on consoles. (Better yet, retcon that social app mess of "VI" on mobile, and make a real VI on home consoles; then make VII.) A new Lunar saga game. A new Ogre saga game (doesn't matter if it's tactics ogre or ogre battle to me.) A full HD revamp of Final Fantasy VI, with ATB. (NO CUTS. NONE.) A new Grandia game. ~~~Pipe dream list of epicness~~~A fully enhanced (and corrected/completed) Xenogears. Castlevania Warriors (Yes, Dynasty warriors with a Castlevania theme, and optional multiplayer online mode.) Zone of the Enders 3. Baten Kaitos 3. Another .hack// series game, on current gen consoles (full RPG, not that fighting game mess). Actually, make that last one, and maybe finish the full VR MMORPG of .hack// Fragment. Chrono Break. A new Suikoden. How about a new console Seiken Densetsu? A new Wizardry game on home console. It's too epic to leave out the amazing art, and deep character customization. Growlanser. A new Der Langrisser! A new entry into the SaGa game franchise. Brandish 5. Another good Arc the Lad title. One that is far and away from the mess called ATL: End of Darkness. Dark Cloud 3. Wild Arms 6. Legaia 3. Legend of Dragoon 2 (or prequel). [Spot reserved for more listings]

This is interesting. IGA generally doesn't like pitfall death based games, unless there's a good reason for the death. And, true to form, his stage has good reasons for if you die. Plenty of time to adjust for fall risk, wider platforms, visible answers to a problem, multiple choices of direction.
All in all, very interesting.

No E- Nomine on a Gothic forum? Well, let's fix that shall we?
Here's one from a lesser known anime called "Munto" that I thought was an excellent quality.
