Ha ..haha ... HAHAHAHA, OH, OH Honey. Honey honey honey honey honey, you need to sit down, and I need to explain to you a thing~ First off Snip about trademarks from disney
Also lets not forget because of Disney's ownership of the KH Franchise, they are now including KH material in the Disney INFINITY series. Each game has a special rare unlockable weapon that you can only get by scanning every figure released for that version of the game. in DI 2.0 the rarest weapon was a Lightsaber. And now DI 3.0 its all StarWars themed. The ultimate unlock in 3.0 is Soras Kingdom Key Keyblade. Also They have even released a special costume power disk that dresses Mickey Mouse in his King Mickey outfit from the KH the series. This could mean that, following the example of the star Wars secret unlock, and eventual set, we may end up getting a Kingdom Hearts focused Disney INFINITY 4.0 in the future. Which would make sense given that KHIII is RIGHT around the corner, and a KH themed DI set would be ideal to promote both games. This is all something they are able to do, without SE's involvement, because they own the franchise. s
Nomura has never once said this, never in the series development has he ever claimed that the series is owned by Square Enix. If he had, he would be contradicting the fine print on the back of every single box in the series. Hell truth be told he has gone on record, multiple times, saying that there are things he wants to do, but cant without Disney's approval. When Tesuya Nomura found out about Disney's acquisition of Lucas Arts, the first thing he realized was he could now include Star Wars characters and themes into the KH series, however he cant do it without Disney's permission. Anything/everything he does with the series, or wants to do with the series, has to be approved by Disney before it gets in.
Big snipRight-o. Time to counter by clarifying what I was getting at. ( For the record, late night posts after a hellish workday are a bad idea! I sounded totally batty! ) Yes indeed, I do fully concede that Disney owns "most" of Kingdom Hearts. They own the original characters, worlds, most of the plot, etc. But they do still need permission from Square to proceed, in some circumstances. Legal complications bar Disney from doing tasks such as: Publishing previous titles, using existing plot with trademarked Square - Enix characters or properties, using custom designed gear such as the Lionheart keyblade, using Square - Enix exclusive character costume designs, and so on. The fact of the matter is, if either party was to attempt taking total control, it would put a total halt to Kingdom Hearts if they attempted to publish the series without their other half. That in turn would lead to a dispute of ownership, which would lead to court hearings, after which we'd likely never see another Kingdom Hearts title again. To avoid this messy complication, both parties (be it Disney or Square) would need to totally scrap or retcon nearly all current content to clear themselves of possible litigation, and avoid using the brand name of "Kingdom Hearts". I have strong reasons to doubt that Square - Enix would grant Disney ownership over their own original property; and without those permissions, Disney must go through Square - Enix for production rights regarding everything we have seen thus far. On the same hand, Disney will never grant full permission to Square - Enix over their properties; so the same ruling will always apply to them. This means that both parties have a fairly split amount of rights over the series, in different areas; which would make them both in on the copyright and trademark in some way, shape, or form. Each of which having exclusive ownership and mostly equal stake. For clarification, when asked about bringing into the series properties not owned directly by Disney Interactive (such as properties from the film department, Disney Studios): This means this title is a a cooperative work at best with a limited reach on Square - Enix's end; even if Disney is the one filing the patents, and funding the show. While it is not exactly a fully bought out and contracted service, a la "Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars"; it does have a good bit of divided patent and trademark rights. After all, it was Square who originally approached Disney about the idea for Kingdom Hearts 1, not the other way around. In fact, it was Disney who restricted use of Mickey in the plot, unless Square released rights to the original characters. Source: www.giantbomb.com/kingdom-hearts/3025-414/As to Disney having a tight grip over what goes where in the franchise, and localization... Further, Nomura was interviewed by TechTV a good while back and was asked about how the control of the Disney intellectual properties went. In both of these interviews, it doesn't sound like Disney's staff are the ones calling the shots here (at least not entirely); nor are they overseeing the team directly. It's more akin to nodding/shaking their as head to what concepts are brought before them, in an attempt to ensure quality control over Disney properties. So long as Square - Enix doesn't change those, it appears that Disney rarely steps in to dictate or put down absolute ideas. Also, when RPGSite was speaking to Tai Yasue, we learned a little more about the process in recent years. The part in italics here is "mostly allegory", for lack of a better term. Yasue is using an example of how Disney manages their intellectual properties when asked for permission to work with them; in direct comparison to how Square - Enix manages theirs. Remember, it was Square who originally approached Disney to get permission to design a game with Mickey as a playable character (which somehow led to a lion tailed Sora wielding a chainsaw blade); and it was Disney who originally wanted a game with Donald Duck as a core character (and omitted said chainsaw blade, as it didn't fit the context of the plot). The result was the compromise of Kingdom Hearts, as stated above; which has led us to the series as we know it. Disney owns the intellectual properties to particular characters and worlds; but it is important to remember that at the time of creation, this was a collaboration. Whether or not this arrangement has changed, I cannot say. I lack the current contract to look at (to gauge the full scope of permissions granted to each party); but I will happily reach out to Square for clarification on just how much they own, and how the process works. Since we still don't have a clear answer, I'm just going to assume it is a 75/25 % split of ownership at the moment. I;m doing this mostly because Disney has digital rights to Sora and the gang; and all of the worlds. They do not own rights to Squall, Cid, Gunblades, Setzer, Vivi, Neku, Seifer, Moogles, etc., which belong to Square - Enix. Conclusion
Given the context of these conversations over the years, I can safely wager that Disney does own most of Kingdom Hearts; but they had/(have?) minimal involvement in production directly. Their participation was willingly limited to no involvement in the franchise development outside of quality control (essentially it was all just a matter of saying "Sure, go for it.", once an idea was crafted by the team). The copyright you see is a copyright to cover Disney branded worlds, characters, and intellectual properties (including again, Sora and his gang of misfits); not the entire spectrum of the Kingdom Hearts brand name. Simply put, they don't have those permissions at the core, since they don't have free reign over Square - Enix characters or products. Though this is a bit more one sided as a comparison, I recall a similar situation with Nintendo and Square regarding the involvement of Geno and Mallow from Mario RPG (both of which are owned by Square - Enix) in future titles. Due to conflict of opinion, Nintendo was not allowed to use these characters; and since Geno was a primary driving force for the main storyline of Mario RPG... Nintendo needed to redesign the concept from the ground up, and abandon the original brand's storyboard. This remained an issue for several years, until Nintendo was able to secure permissions to release the game (Mario RPG) digitally for eshop. Trademark issues were squabbled over; but in the end, Square - Enix managed to get a firm hold on these characters, and still managed to bar Nintendo from future use without permission. This is why the Mario and Luigi RPG series is fundamentally different from the original Mario RPG. Both in terms of plot, and in terms of gameplay; and it is also why we have yet to see a return to the original concept. With all of these factors in mind, it's pretty safe to say that each party's individual ownership is clear; but the over all production's laws and permissions are a total headache to navigate. For the moment, one hand needs to wash the other, or we see things getting stuck. Now, in recent years, Disney has taken a more proactive approach over publication; So I don't know what that could hold for future entries in the saga; but at the moment it appears to me that it is best to use the phrase "it's complicated", especially when including the current fundamentals in deciding future ownership and current ownership. Either way, my sincerest apologies for my poorly worded post up above. That was entirely my error for misspeaking, and not properly formulating my comment.

Yes, Even that. Though, to be entirely fair... nothing is safe from pachislot machines in Japan. There's a certain allure for them, since they are a "morally grey area" and "technically" illegal in Japan according to the principle, let alone the roundabouts and circumvention willingly participated in by the owners of said establishments. There are workarounds, of course... and that's where the money comes from. In pachinko, when a player's ball makes it into a special hole to activate the slot machine and a jackpot is made, they are rewarded with more balls. Players can then exchange the balls for prizes of different value at a booth in the parlour. Money cannot be awarded at pachinko parlors as this would be in violation of the criminal code. However, players almost always exchange pachinko balls for special tokens, usually slits of gold encased in plastic, and then "sell" them at a neighboring shop for cash. Usually such shops are also owned by the parlor operators, but as long as the winners do not receive cash in the parlour, the law is not broken. It seems some people there like to "live dangerously", while being safe from reproach. I was more talking about this specific pachislot than another CV pachislot, since they can atleast can be classified as "good" for a pachislot, in fact I would like to try CV3 rendition. This token blackmarket is new to me, I thought that by negating money prizes it would be enough to stop this kind of act. Pachislots and their owners are working under the law, since what happens with their prizes or tokens aren't their matter. Sadly this law have holes in it and unless they fix it, people will continue to do that without even living dangerously since there is no danger for both parties. It is bad like that. I like the fact that you responded with a Phoenix animation sprite! xD But yeah. It's a big mess. That's why Konami's CEO is pushing so hard into the industry. He wants the legalization of casinos in Japan, so he can further expand his pachislot business, and further increase revenues. Konami's internal staff may well have plans to open a Konami Branded casino, but there's a lot stopping them. It's a mad gambit to say the least, but man... it's gotten to be a total train wreck over there, especially regarding these things. I'm all for pachislot titles, if they are good sound quality. After all, it is indeed true that vampire lore at its very nature, has ties to romanticism and dark erotica; but not all branches of said lore contain or require such a thing. As seen in the post I linked to above, Sammy did a great job with the Galaxy Express 999 plot for that machine, so there's little reason to think that Konami could fail to follow the same standards, should their desire to. That particular slot machine seems to be part of the growing dark and racy theme of Japan's "gambling" market. I can only hope it is a one and done offshoot.

Muramasa was a fantastic game in all of its forms. I can't wait to see how Bloodstained stacks up against it, and what elements are similar! Forging and crafting I'd like to see brought over, but way deeper than the system in MDB. But I really want to see special abilities that actually impact your weapon's usefulness, and on the fly equipment swapping!

It would be interesting to have an incarnation of "Dracula" in the game though. To make Bloodstained's Dracula unique, maybe he could just be an incredibly smart human who's so proficient in alchemy, magics and knowledgeable with the mythology, that he fools people into thinking he's something much more. The game could keep it vague/open-ended as to what he is exactly, or if vampires even exist in this universe. Or maybe just have the Dracula from the book who relies mostly on his cunning to get what he wants instead of just using raw power. You've just described Matthias Cronqvist. A powerful human with cunning, knowledge of alchemy, and an excellent deceiver who manipulated the world into believing he was a victim only to play the role of a powerful dark lord, later on. He's better known as Lord Dracula, in Castlevania. At the risk of repeating myself from elsewhere, I'll just copy paste what I posted as part of another long-winded post on the board here. "Mathias Cronqvist was Leon Belmont's good friend. In the world of knights who lacked education, he was a genius tactician who was even called Cronqvist the Wise. Because Mathias's family had books recording secret arts transmitted orally concerning alchemy, a science that experiments with the arcane, Mathias himself had a detailed knowledge of alchemy. {insert Lament of innocence prologue here} In fact, Mathias had deceived Leon and was not likely really bedridden. In deep mourning, Mathias devised a plan to take revenge on God for stealing Elisabetha by becoming a vampire and living eternally. He manipulated Leon, Rinaldo, Sara, even Walter and his monsters, in order to obtain a vampire's soul with the Crimson Stone, and he was reborn with it. As time went on, Mathias renamed himself Dracula, taken from the Romanian word "Dracul" meaning dragon and devil." So Castlevania's Dracula isn't even a true vampire. He's a man wielding the powers of one via alchemy and sorcery. Ironically, this was also based closely on Bram Stoker's Dracula, as the reasons for Mathias's fall and metamorphosis seem to be strongly inspired by Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula film of 1992, based on Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula". Both Mathias and Coppola's Dracula renounce God and seek and obtain immortality out of anger at the death of their wives. While Elisabetha Cronqvist does not commit suicide, she does pass away while Mathias is away 'fighting in God's name' (It has been proposed that this was during the First Crusade, however this is not possible as according to game canon Elisabetha died in 1093, one year before the events of the game - Pope Urban did not call the First Crusade until the 27th of November, 1095). Further, she shares the name of Dracula's wife in the film. Not a bad secret, eh? But I digress. It appears that a fated encounter with a powerful vampire will need to wait until another day. That... or a fated backer battle with Lord Igarashi, who will give us a new reason to do battle...

Castlevania Vs Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors! Breakdown
Comparing these two side by side, both are rife with battles between blood families (blood feuds), both contain reasons as to why each family wants to be the last one standing, and both contain prime examples of personal philosophy erupting into a bloody war, one that spanned generations. Cao Cao's battle was picked up and carried on by his son Cao Pi, Sun Jian's was carried on by his clan, etc. Dracula's battle was inherited by several individuals. Originally, it was Walter Bernhard who was the dark lord of Castlevania. His will was to be a fickle ruler of absolute power, and he was content with his rule of Wallachia. Matthias saw this as a true waste of such power, and usurped Walter for his own ends; powers and all. Matthias would then slip into the night, form an army, and return to claim this throne as Lord of the Night. But it would not end there. Blood begat blood, and Matthias became obsessed with changing the world to meet his vision. He began invading other lands. His reach expanded to all of Romania, then to Ireland, then Scotland. Shortly after, his reach expanded to Spain, the Americas, Greece, Italy, and even Japan. Gradually, as Matthias became more deranged, he began to see himself as a true demon lord; and took on the name/title of "Dracula". Prior to all of the madness, Matthias was a great tactician in the service of the church. He was an upstanding man of sound reason and honorable visions. Mathias Cronqvist was Leon Belmont's good friend. In the world of knights who lacked education, he was a genius tactician who was even called Cronqvist the Wise. Because Mathias's family had books recording secret arts transmitted orally concerning alchemy, a science that experiments with the arcane, Mathias himself had a detailed knowledge of alchemy. This is similar to Sima Yi (a famed magician and tactician in Chinese lore), and his alliance to the Cao family; who he later betrayed. They too, possessed knowledge of the ways that spiritual arts worked. The same could be said of the demon lord Oda Nobunaga, who was said to be the physical incarnation of a demon of war. Oda Nobunaga relied heavily on the superstitions of the people to cement his power and absolute authority. The Oda clan originally served the Shiba clan. We all know what Oda Nobunaga is famous for, right? His own ambition to unite and rule over Japan, under the Oda banner. So that means that Nobunaga himself took chances to advance his powers, just as Cao Cao did, and so too did Sima Yi. These plans were often ironclad across each of these franchises. After all, what man in their right mind would willingly challenge a Demon Lord? Oh wait.I can think of quite a few.
Story
Dracula is a lord of many tricks and secrets. His malevolence knows no bounds... nor does his madness.
His ownership of The Grimoire that pulled in records from heroes and villains alike, deep into the demonic castle's walls during Harmony of Despair is nothing to laugh at. But... what if it was only the start of something more sinister? The deepest darkest crevices of Castlevania's Long Library hold many powerful tomes collected and crafted over the ages. Chief among them is the one containing a powerful unholy text, "The Grand Grimoire". This ancient book contains the essence of Dracula's ambitions. Sealed within its pages rest his carefully laid battle plans, tactics, combat methods, data on his enemies and their personal effects (along with ways to call their souls), and above all... his malice. Centuries of malevolent energy have been laid unto this book, so much that even Dracula and his closest minions are bound to it. Using the dark powers of the Grand Grimoire, Dracula unleashes his might across the entire continent of Europe, and outlying regions. Villages burn as his armies march across the fields. Kingdoms bend knee one by one before his Army of the Night. But something happened that Dracula did not intend. The records and effects sealed within the Grand Grimoire longed for battle, and the curtain would soon raise upon the most grand war ever beheld by the world... Locations
Many. There are so very many that would be open for this, but I'd imagine it would be mostly in Europe's close spectrum, sans a few special side stages (Japan, North America, Spain, etc.). Romania, the castle grounds of Castlevania, Germany, Greece, Italy... Catacombs, deep caverns, ancient ruins by the waterside. Many regions would serve as backdrops, each with their own designs, atmospheres, and cultures.
Participating Factions/Warriors
With a little imagination... Can you see it? Skeletons, demons, zombies, the visage of the Grim Reaper himself... All of these powerful and influential individuals standing on the field of battle, to advance their own dark lord's ambition; or to thwart that very same twisted goal with goals of their own. Standing against them, an alliance of unlikely heroes who have stopped him many times in the past. Characters of fame such as Leon, Alucard, Sonia, Maria, Richter, and Grant; less famous and unsung heroes such as Henry, John, Jonathan, Charlotte, Shanoa, Yoko, Hector, Eric, and Nathan. The Church's personal military. The Army of the Night. The Dark Lord's most trusted allies, Carmilla, Shaft, Death, Isaac, Ortega, Gilles De Ras, Actrise. The independent powers that would rise; such as Galamoth and his ilk, the Order of Ecclesia run by Barlowe, the Order of With Light, Maxim Kischine, Brauner, Hugh Baldwin, Etc... What a grand spectacle it would be! Each of these warriors vying for their own beliefs on the field of battle. One. Final battle. The one to end it all... or is it? That said... I'll let a little fan fun speak for itself... Heroes
Villains

Personally, I was kinda hoping for a world that each Final Fantasy character called home. One we can explore, see, and interact with. I don't understand why Disney's worlds and lands are the only ones being used as a driving material for pushing the story forward. This is a Square - Enix title, one working in conjunction with Disney; not a franchise owned and operated by Disney itself. According to Tetsuya Nomura, Disney has zero calls as to what worlds get approved for each game; but can freely suggest worlds to the design team. If this is in fact true as Nomura claims, then why haven't we seen any worlds for Final Fantasy characters? The Final Fantasy and Square aspect in the series is so thin, it may as well not be there at all. In fact, I cannot particularly recall the last time any Final Fantasy character had a major impact on the story as a whole, as opposed to "flavor enhancers" to this meaty dish of drama, melodrama, and self discovery.
The only ones I can think of were Squall, Cloud, Aerith, Yuffie, and Auron.
Neku (though not a final fantasy character) did have a pretty big impact on the lore, yet that's as far as I can see their own presence in the franchise.
To be honest, i don't count Radiant Garden as this world for them, as it is the perfect example of a mixed culture. A melting pot of Disney and Square; not a standalone world for Square's characters in and of itself. I sincerely hope we will see a world for these characters explored in full detail someday... Maybe call it something akin to Crystalis, Crystallia, or Crystarius?

I'm honestly not sure how to feel about these sorts of feedback surveys. Part of me appreciates their honesty and willingness to hear a public opinion; while the other part disagrees with public opinion being the sole deciding factor in where a franchise goes.
As they say, "the loudest voices try to speak for the sum of the whole". Not every voice is a good one to hear from; and many more could care less about the finer details... so long as a product can be purchased that meets their approval.
Regional contributions are also another difficult matter altogether. This survey for example... it raises questions, like: "Will the results of this polling only apply to these franchises in European regions; or will these opinions be used to reflect general western appeal as a whole?" or "will these opinions be used to decide actual franchise marketing proceedings, or are these a general fact gathering pool?".
It's a risky gambit, and I'm not sure how far this scale will go; but any chance to keep such franchises alive (at least until good talent can attend to them) is worth it... Right?

Welcome to each of you! The more who join, the better. I do hope you enjoy your stay... After all, the accommodations here are quite out of this world. You will see, meet, and discover a good many things while here, good sirs and ladies; but I feel you will find yourselves right at home. Just beware the demons who desire to cause mischief, and keep a close eye on your valuables. Many birds here have a fondness of precious gems, jewels, and metals!

I'm certainly open to the inclusion of more civilized demons. Even many of the high ranking demons had order, law, and etiquette. This factor is often overlooked by storytellers, authors, concept artists, and creators.
For example... Renon from Castlevania 64 was always a favorite of mine in fictional works. While not fully malicious (yet with a few tricks), he was genuinely dedicated to helping you. Granted, he still had a job to do and would see it done, if need be. But if you did what most players would, and kept the amount you spent with him under 30,000... you'd learn that Renon was actually a pretty solid fellow.
The word daimon [dī’mōn’], with the meaning of “guiding spirit,” is a latecomer to English (earliest OED citation 1852). With its different pronunciation, daimon stands as a possible alternate choice for writers who want the sense of the word without the confusion with demon. Nevertheless, the spelling daemon has its appeal.
The three English words demon, daemon, and daimon all derive from Greek δαίμων (daimôn), the word for a spirit that served as a link between the human and divine spheres. Daimons could be benevolent or malevolent. They were much lower in the divine hierarchy than gods like Jupiter and Diana.
In first century Rome, a good way to make a pagan angry was to refer to all his gods as “daimons.” In Christian writings the word was used to signify “pagan god” or “unclean spirit.” Much later, when the Bible was translated into Old English, “demon” was rendered as “devil.”
One type of “daimon” recognized by pagans was a benevolent spirit, a “guardian angel” that attended the individual from birth to death. This personal “genius” was a kind of soul.
With this in mind, I don't see a reason for all demons to be evil. They're a race of individuals much like humans. Each with their own problems, answers, governing laws, and social structures. I think it would be excellent to view this side of the legends in a more intriguing light. The Shin Megami saga touches on such thoughts frequently, and I don't mind the idea at all.

Fantastic Mech series. Loved the story! There was an anime and an offshoot game called Fist of Mars on GBA as well.

Given the success and momentum of Bloodstained at the current moment, it is safe to say you're on the fast track to success. But following all of this, what would you like to do next? Will you continue work on Bloodstained and develop it into a multi game franchise, or would you like to work on other projects and concepts? If you do have other projects you'd like to try, can you share any general ideas as to what they might be?

Sorry, until proof is provided that is actually Konami doing that poll I think we should disclaim that it may not be a legitimate poll. I agree. As stated via my PM to you, this was a fast copy paste. I am waiting for an official response from Konami. I've contacted them via my website for more information. We'll know soon! I do advise everyone to remember one factor. Major companies outsource to data mining agencies for these matters. Regardless, cheers! Thanks for the fast cover save, Mike!

Rumor has it that Konami is asking for our feedback on certain franchises. We do not have an official confirmation as of yet, and so I caution you to take this with a grain of salt. As the title says, Konami is asking your opinion on what you'd like to see done with their legacy franchises. Now is the time to protest to the mobile only approach in their own official form and polls. Classics like Contra, Castlevania, Bomberman, Parodius, Vandel Hearts, Suikoden, and Ganbare Goemon (Mystical Ninja: Goemon) are all on this list. It is likely they are gauging the future of their market, and the direction of these franchises. Interestingly, Metal Gear Solid did not make this list for discussion and feedback... I wonder why? Regardless... To stem the Pachinko machine madness, let us land upon them a mighty blow from the Army of the Night! mobilesurvey.blicx.com/?s=68d309812548887400e375eaa036d2f1&sysl=EN&slp=1
