There's a lot of Castlevania being played in my household.
We started a few months ago. (By "we", I mean me, and my two sons.) I have replayed (or am currently playing):
-Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (Wii U VC) -- got the Chaos Ring and am running through a NG+. -Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (Wii U VC) -- The backgrounds in this game are pretty great. I find myself looking at them more on subsequent playthroughs. I like that you can forward/back dash straight from the get-go. Music is pretty great as well. -Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (Wii U VC) -- about 80% of the way through. This game feels weird when you play it. The gravity of the main character feels off. He falls too fast or something. I've been abusing the card glitch to use whatever powers I want. -Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (DS game played on 3DS XL) -- This game has been missing from my collection for almost two years. I still can't find it. It is here somewhere, but I can't find it. I bought a new copy on Amazon for $22. I'll be watching this one closely so it doesn't go missing. -- I've gone through the first portrait and explored a bit of the main castle afterwards. Not to the second portrait yet. Just met Death.
My oldest son has been playing: -Castlevania: The Lecarde Chronicles (PC) -- He is pretty far in. The game has a lot of throwbacks to other classic games in the series. Remixed music, etc. -Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth (Wii VC) -- He played through and took various paths. Got a Game Over about 3/4 of the way through the first time, but then beat it on his second go. He had played it before, but it had been a while. -Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (Wii VC) -- He forgot to put in Help Me for the name. He ended up giving up before he got to Sypha's stage. smh.
My other son has been playing: -Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (Wii U VC) -- He managed to get the Chaos Ring and beat the game. (Thanks to restore points.) -Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS3 download) -- He isn't finished yet. Currently in the Inverted Castle--hasn't quite made it to Galamoth (he doesn't have the Beryl Circlet...hehehe).
Plus we all watched some No Damage Boss runs for various CV games. Ah, good times.

I can sympathize, but people in that situation are by far the minority. No decisions have been made yet. He's not a backer though, and if the point is that the decision would affect Wii U sales vs Switch sales, there's no comparison. The sales would be much higher on Switch. The needs of the many outweigh the few. True words, XombieMike. The whole situation sucks, but in the end the minority is still screwed over. EDIT: Since my brother didn't back the project, he isn't losing anything if there ends up being no Wii U version. Wii U backers who get a refund also don't lose anything. It's IGA who will lose the respect of said minority by not having a Wii U version. I'm not trying to argue there should be a Wii U version. I just want people on the forums to remember that there is a minority of people who will be upset if the Wii U version doesn't happen. People who aren't backers, part of the BS community, or following Bloodstained's development will only see it as IGA saying one thing and doing another. It's a difficult situation to rise above. I hope it doesn't have significant fallout for IGA.

I learned today that my brother is pretty annoyed/upset about the possible lack of a Wii U version. He has a Wii U, but that's it. No PS4, no X1, no PC capable of running it. He didn't back the game, but is a pretty big fan of the CV series and has been lightly following Bloodstained (mostly through conversations with me). He does not have his Wii U connected to the internet. He has a slow DSL connection and doesn't want to try hooking it up to the Wii U. He was planning on picking up a physical Wii U copy of Bloodstained, but if there is no Wii U version, he will probably pass on Bloodstained altogether. He also doesn't plan on getting a Switch.
(It's pretty sad really. He was the one who first showed me Symphony of the Night (which happens to be his favorite game of all time).)
I'm sure there are other people out there in similar situations.
TL;DR: My brother is a physical-media-only Wii U owner with no other way to play Bloodstained who will simply pass on BS: RotN if there is no Wii U version. Sad face.

Remember how extra playable characters worked in Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (N64)? I think they should do it like that. Basically, you have only one character to choose from initially, but after you beat the game, you can choose a second. You play through the same castle, but do different parts in a different order. (Possibly even crossing paths with Miriam at some point.) It adds greatly to the replayability. In CV: LoD, you had different dialogue and often different bosses. How cool would it be if you get to play as Zangetsu and you enter a room where you had killed a boss on your Miriam playthrough. You find the room has been destroyed and the carcass of the demon Miriam killed is laying on the floor. Over the carcass is standing Johannes (studying it). He decided to follow Miriam after she left. He doesn't know who you are, but sees you as an enemy/threat. So you now have to fight Johannes in that room.

Just to add a little something...I'm a big fan of old school arcade side-scrolling beat em ups. I particularly like: -Double Dragon (1 and 2) -Shadow Warriors (Ninja Gaiden in case someone doesn't know) -Altered Beast -Golden Axe -Shinobi -Final Fight -Black Tiger -TMNT -Haunted Castle So many quarters...so little time.

I actually like Vepar's design. It's the colors that are all wonky. I hope they don't change the design too much. Less over-the-top boobs would be OK, I guess. I just really want the colors to be reasonable.

Very glad to hear that they are going to give Vepar a redesign. I felt the colors where too vibrant and over-the-top--very out-of-place for this type of game. I look forward to seeing the redesign with more of a gothic look. It actually makes me very happy that they are addressing it. Hopefully, they will apply the gothic look throughout the entire game. Color is good, but green, purple, and red all on the same enemy? It just doesn't work, IMO.

I didn't mean to imply that IGA did anything wrong. None of us here on the forums are privy to the decision-making process IGA uses. We have to rely on interviews like the Glixel one to glean insight into what IGA is thinking. I can't say I'm happy to read what IGA had to say regarding the female lead bit. I just always thought his reason for female lead was because that was the story he had all along. The Glixel interview makes it seem otherwise.

I wouldn't be opposed to a Bloodstained site with a layout akin to some the game wikis (FextraLife Souls games wikis, Monster Hunter Wiki) or like the Castlevania Dungeon. I particularly like how you can select from games in the series, characters, music, weapons, storyline, etc from the left of the main page for navigation. Sometimes I just want game information and media and not forum discussion.
I vote for a Bloodstained Wiki page where you can find the latest information about the game, all current media (screenshots, music, artwork, gameplay vids), links to this forum, the official kickstarter, and other Bloodstained goodness. It should be a place/site you can hit for all Bloodstained information. Wiki is good so that fans can edit stuff to help stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest.
