Nice collection! It puts mine to shame. I have a lot of digital Castlevania stuff nowadays as well. I've been checking out some fan-made PC games that are "inspired" by Castlevania. Most recently that includes: The Lecarde Chronicles I and II, Silver Night's Crusaders, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest Revamped, and Castlevania Chronicles II: Simon's Quest.

I don't have a problem with an all female cast if those characters are already established. It seems like new stuff that has been created since around 2010 seems to have way more female leads/characters. I have absolutely no issue with a developer making a game about female characters from a series that has been around since 1997.

I like the art direction. Can't say I'm a fan of the seemingly all female cast. But I suppose that's what all game devs are doing nowadays. It's trendy.
Why do all the heroes nowadays have to be female?

Interesting. I think my PC monitor is 120hz refresh, but I'm not 100% sure on that one. I know that Bloodstained on my PS4 Pro is connected to a Samsung 65" curved monitor and it displays in UHD. Again, not sure of the refresh rate, but it looks ultra crisp and smooth.

I have it on PS4 Pro, Switch, and PC. I play primarily on the PS4 Pro. I have only played a tiny bit on PC and Switch. The game only crashed once on the PS4 Pro across five NG cycles. I can't tell a difference visually or performance-wise when comparing PS4 Pro and PC. (Switch is a whole different story, sadly.) I stick to PS4 Pro mostly because I like playing on a bigger display.
PC specs are: i7-7820x @ 3.6ghz, 8 core, 16 logical processors; 32 gb ram; gtx1070, 8 gb gddr5
Apparently that runs Bloodstained pretty much identically to the PS4 Pro.

The main things I was upset with in the beginning were: 1) Visual style/look (shader). And now, I think everything looks awesome with zero complaints. and 2) The fact that the main protagonist is a female. And now, I have accepted it, but I won't know for sure whether I still wish the protagonist had been male until after I play the game. If anything, a female lead will be the only thing keeping Bloodstained from surpassing Symphony of the Night (at least to me). If Miriam is badass enough though....I'll wager that I won't care that she is a female. Overall, I am very happy with how things have progressed in the last four years. (Of course, I wish it had been sooner. Don't we all?)

I'll be on vacation when the game releases. I'll probably go dark on internet Bloodstained info a bit before I leave on vacation. I'll be back right around the time the Switch version releases. So, I'll play it then. Completely. And then some. I like to read reviews of the games I play, but I don't like spoilers. It really ruins it for me. So I'll try not to let that happen.

I like the idea of getting additional information (or lore about the beast) from killing said beast a certain number of times (kind of like in Nioh), but I didn't like in Chasm how you had to kill a certain number of an enemy just to unlock it's entry in the Bestiary.

Bestiary should be available from the start of the game in the menu and accessible at any time (most likely a tome given to Miriam by Johannes--he found it, but has no clue as to the black silhouettes or what they mean). Locked entries should have a black silhouette and "?" for the name and weaknesses/strengths/battle tips. Once you attack an enemy, the silhouette becames a hand-drawn image of the beast and the name appears, but no other information until you kill at least one of them. Then everything is shown (weaknesses, etc). All information should be carried over to NG+.

Something of a "power" in SOTN that I love (and feel the need to add here) is the Ring of Varda. Out of all the magic spells Alucard has, the Ring of Varda is the most powerful thing in the game to me.
I used to go for the Crissaegrim or the Shield Rod Combo to make the game feel easy (or to make Alucard feel like a badass). Now, when I play a new run (that already has a save that has beat the game), I immediately run to the Paranthropus in the Coliseum and farm it until I have TWO rings of Varda. Yes, they stack. The rest of the game is a breeze with any weapon you choose. I particularly like using Fire/Ice/Thunderbrand. Just remember to remove your weapon for Dracula and punch him to oblivion. The damage output even without a weapon is impressive.
To be a little more on topic, I'll include some magic attacks from SOTN's weapons: BEST: Shield Rod combo. Over-powered for sure. Call on the power of all of the shields in the game. Then hold out your shield and run through enemies for 255 dmg per hit!
WORST: Shield Rod Gradius shield orb. Cool that it exists, but that's about it. I'm not sure I've ever used it effectively. Pretty much useless.
MOST-CREATIVE: Sword of Dawn Warriors. Summon random Dawn Warriors as fast as you can do the input for it. Archers, Mages, Phalanxes, etc. Stops incoming attacks and enemies to create a little breathing room for you. Consumes very little magic per warrior. Fast. Looks super-cool.

I believe you are correct Pure Miriam I know in C/C++, you use the random() function to get a random number. You can pass a seed as a parameter I believe, but I've always just let it pick its seed by default. The function takes the system time represented as the number of seconds that have elapsed since the epoch. The epoch is the beginning of time for computers. 0 was January 1, 1970 (at least for Unix/Linux systems). So unless your code is executed more than once per second, you will always have a different seed--giving the pseudo-random number effect that most code is looking for.

And I'm supposed to care about that for some reason? All I see is in this thread is him calling it fabulous and defending these graphics.
If you want to see what "fabulous" graphics look like, just check latest hollow knight trailer
I don't care whether game is 2D, 2.5D or 3D, it simply looks gorgeous. Bloodstained doesn't.
I disagree regarding Hollow Knight when comparing it to Bloodstained. Hollow Knight looks drab and washed out to me. Definitely not enough color or shininess for me. Of all the things you could have picked for "fabulous" graphics, Hollow Knight isn't helping your cause. We just like different things is all. For example, graphics that I like are more along the lines of Mortal Kombat 11 instead of say Guilty Gear Xrd.
It is true that I was extremely disappointed and frustrated way back when the shader(s) were being decided. I really wanted an ultra-realistic Bloodstained. Since that time, I have learned a lot about art styles and art direction thanks to users on this forum such as Scars Unseen and others. I have followed the development of the graphics in Bloodstained all the way through, and I feel like they have made the right decisions.

See what I'm getting at here? We just like different things. We could keep this up all day, but I don't have the time. Life stuff and all. I hope you can look past the graphics issues you have with Bloodstained and enjoy the game this summer. I'm thinking this isn't an Igavania you would want to miss.
