The dude throws peanuts in the air and catches them in his mouth. Goobsausage Where is the image? Did you guys see it? Did you take a photo on it? I mean, some of you were there. C'mon. I didn't take my own picture because I thought the rest of the internet would've noticed it on the stream and pointed it out along with the Vepar changes. Sorry about that. I think it might be noticable in the recorded stream. I haven't watched it, so I don't know how good the gameplay footage video quality is, and I don't remember what time it was on screen, but I think it might be your best bet to try and find it. I'll make my exit now...

I'm not a fan of having Miriam do anything cutesy. It just takes away her badass-ness entirely. You would never catch Alucard doing something like that. Miriam should have a similar attitude, IMO.

These orchestrated sample clips are glorious! These rival SotN's OST (possibly surpassing it?). This is just amazing!

Enkeria Much of what Enk posits is correct, and there are also a TON of other reasons I can't publish a %progress bar, and wouldn't even if I could.
I understand the always present desire to have more and more insight into the development of the game, but, like many things in life, balance is key. I have implemented a communications strategy to be as transparent and honest as possible, while also keeping certain things confidential and secret for the success of the marketing campaign and the game as a whole.
So let's choose just one of the MANY reasons I wouldn't do this: Exposure.
I give fans a %progress bar, and now PR/Media outlets care a lot less, if at all, when we announce something has been completed or revealed. Because everything is open for view, and nothing is "news". The opportunity for leveraging gaming media is gone, and instead the only opportunity for press coverage is now if we miss a scheduled internal goal or if one area of development lags for w/e reason.
This is already a really big reason, and it's just ONE of them hehe.
Hopefully this explains why we don't choose to go down this route. This all makes sense Angel-Corlux. Not being privy to your exact role (specifically) in all of this, I hadn't thought of these things. It all seems like a lot of politics to me--which I have zero interest in. I'll leave all that to you, Angel. In the end, I want Bloodstained to be a phenomenal success. So, do what you gotta do, friend.

... Also As long as progress is being made on SOMETHING every month that we get an update, then fans have no room to make a fuss. Each category could even be labeled as "in progress" on months where the numbers don't change. I don't think you meant it this way, but this can be taken as you don't think they're working on the actual game in any given month because they don't specifically tell you so. Everything is constantly "in progress" and being made concurrently, ... I only meant that between updates they may be working on/focusing on different modes and they could let us know which area they are primarily focused on. I.e. bug fixes, asset tweaking, lighting, etc. They could really break it down however they want. It would just be nice to know what they are working on from update to update. Again, I'll say that if it is too much of a nightmare to throw out the percentages, then don't worry about it. I'm only trying to make a suggestion here. And I'm OK if it doesn't become implemented. Angel-Corlux is on top of things, monitoring the feedback and all and responding in kind. Respect pts have increased even more!

Ideas are great when they are just being thrown around; however, implementing said ideas is often trickier (and often impossible) due to unknown forces in the land. Whoa...started channeling some sci-fi, gothic horror gamer goodness.

Giving some stats on the development of main and secondary goals would give fans an idea of what is being worked on from month to month. As long as progress is being made on SOMETHING every month that we get an update, then fans have no room to make a fuss. Each category could even be labeled as "in progress" on months where the numbers don't change. That would allow for difficult bugs etc to not have to change the completion percentage every month. I think my idea of giving stats on completion rates is a good one; however, it is not my intent to suggest something that will add an unnecessary burden to the development team, IGA, or Angel-Corlux

At this point in the development process (or at least where I think it is), maybe the updates should give some kind of percentage left to completion or some bar graphs or something. I think I might be OK with not showing much new stuff if I knew where everything stood. If we aren't being shown cool new stuff and we aren't being told where things stand, then we are left to draw our own conclusions. (Which I tend to lean on the negative side where no news is bad news.) What I mean is something like: Main game completion: 96% Boss rush mode: 56% Asynchronous online: 22% Orchestrated music: 100% Voice acting (JPN): 100% Voice acting (ENG): 100% 2nd playable character: 48% 3rd playable character: 24% and so forth and so on... Is that possible or would that open a whole new can of worms?

I'm excited about the music in Bloodstained. So much so that I'm crawling the walls wanting to hear more of it! That's why I was let down with the update I guess. I just want MORE Bloodstained than they are willing to reveal. When I think about it, the behind the scenes stuff is good material for updates. The interviews in particular are interesting to me. I like the so called "Developer Diaries" that other games have done. I just felt that this recent update didn't give me much in the way of NEW information.
And that is what my gamer friends (outside the Army of the Night) are saying. Something along the lines of "we already knew that." And "Do they have a release date yet? It's been in development for almost three years." (They can be a bit cynical.) So, I'm always lurking/watching for NEW stuff to tell them. A new music clip would have been nice to show off.

Well....here's my feedback/impressions on the update. *Sigh* *Deep breath Jim Carrey style* First of all, let me preface with a blanket statement of great work on the update. Putting everything together and getting it out during the month of February took time and energy. It is clear that a lot is going on with ArtPlay and 505. This is a good sign. Breakdown ahead (spoilerized for brevity): That being said, this update fails to provide much new information, IMO. Just more tidbits and more "soon" promises. (Although I loved Angel's soon(TM) in the update!) I'm looking for "meat" in my updates. This one doesn't have much. Sorry, but that's just how I feel. To break it down: -Orchestrated music: OK, but the only thing we got to hear was music we have already heard before, but orchestrated this time. No new music. Glad the soundtrack is finished recording. Great news in fact. When I opened the update, I was hoping to hear some of the awesomeness that will be in the game. Something NEW. Something not shown/heard before. -Tord: Here is one new thing. Cool enemy design. Looks great! More of this type of thing in future updates please. Small piece of "meat" here. -Live Events: Fun facts. Good to know, but nothing with "meat" here. -Macuahuitl: Already been shown. No meat. -Rocket Sound/David Hayter: Already been shown. No meat. -Fan Art: A lot of fans are great artists. Nothing with "meat" here. -Last Word: Demo coming soon(TM). We already knew there was a demo coming. We just didn't know when--and we still don't. -Doodle at ArtPlay: Cool. Tiny piece of "meat" here. -Final line of update: "Look forward to a really great March update! It’s going to be “packed to the gills” with content! " -- I foresee March's update showing us one new monster that has gills. And no other new information. But I could be wrong. It occurs to me that I sound like a naysayer/troll or what have you. I'm not trying to ruffle feathers. I'm just breaking down the update as I perceive it with the hopes that future information will in fact give me something substantial. I will say that I know this update took a lot of hard work. I appreciate everyone that worked hard to bring the update to us, and I appreciate the musicians and composers for all their hard work and interviews. Whether the updates meet my expectations or not, keep up the good work on the game behind the scenes. I may not know what is happening behind closed doors, but I'm sure the end result will be worth the wait. TL;DR: I'm disappointed in the content of the update, but I'm walking away with an overall positive feel for Bloodstained's progress.

Why can't we (Army of the Night) have the e3 2017 demo on Steam like we had the e3 2016 version? I don't understand why they are denying us.

You know how you use a word so often it begins to lose all meaning? Say Metroidvania 20 times... It feels weird in my mouth now. Anyways... all thumbs are fingers but not all fingers are thumbs. Mine are! It's why I keep dropping things.

purifyweirdshard I wasn't thinking of the shards. Yeah, I can see people collecting those for sure (even if it is just to see what each shard does--useful or otherwise). Same goes for the crafting materials. Me personally...I'm not into collecting the fashion wearable stuff. I mean, I want it to look cool and all, but I'm not going to spend hours hunting down a rare drop for the looks. I have Aria and Dawn in my collection. I did collect all of the souls in Aria, but it wasn't for the sake of collecting stuff. I collected them only because of the Chaos Ring for NG+ (dat Red Minotaur spam). If that item wasn't there, I definitely wouldn't have hunted down all of those souls. And if I hadn't collected all those souls, it would have still been a great IGAvania game. And that is my point. IGAvania games do not require collection quests to be in IGA's genre. I also did not collect all of the furniture in Harmony of Dissonance. Great side quest for those who love to collect, but far from a requirement to be an IGAvania. My wife is all about the collection quests. She maxed out the clock in SotN getting every familiar up to max level and getting every drop from every enemy. It's just a personal preference I suppose. As always, I'll leave it to IGA to decide on what goes into the game. It's interesting to see all of the different aspects of IGA's games that people are so passionate about. Most interesting topic I've read in a while for sure.

IGA's CV games are more about being open, exploring and collecting things. Almost what you'd say is a 2D side-scrolling RPG collect-a-thon. I wouldn't go so far as to place collecting as one of the most important aspects of an IGAvania. Collecting all the items/armor/weapons etc. is more of an afterthought to me--and possibly a way to extend the life of the game's replayability. I definitely wouldn't define the genre based on the ability to collect a bunch of stuff. I'm not sure if I have said this before somewhere (combo thread maybe?), but with regard to combos. A combo system can make run-of-the-mill enemy kills entertaining. I wouldn't want the combo to extend to more than 3 or 4 hits. Having said that, I'm OK if there is no combo system in place. So, I wouldn't put a combo system in my IGAvania definition either. EDIT: I have that same shirt, pws. I love it!
