Nezuto and Lepstadder like this

Bored and without much to do, i decided to create this thread. Considering all Igavanias, i wanted to do a small list of what magic and powers i consider to be best, worst and most creative, and, of course, i want to hear your opinions as well. This is more like a list/article/kinda thread than anything, but here goes.
OBS: i didn't put Curse of Darkness here because i never created all I.Ds on the game. That is one of my still objectives, that i still want to do one day.
SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT
BEST: Soul Steal
There is just something overly satysfing on absorbing all enemie's health on the screen and healing yourself. Not only Soul Steal is Alucard's most expensive Dark Magic, to me, it is also the most useful and powerful, to the point it is kinda game breaking (alongside tons of other gamebreaking elements from the game itself).
WORST: Summon / Tetra Spirit
Lazy, uninteresting Dark magic that summons some spirits to hit enemies. It has a very low damage from the beginning to the end. Considering it's MP cost and such, you can easily kill enemies faster and with more efficience by just using normal attacks. I always considered Summon / Tetra Spirit to be a dumb power.
MOST CREATIVE: Dark Metamorphosis
Dark metamorphosis, sure, isn't something overly fancy, nor absurdly useful, but damn it is creative. I believe that creating a skill where Alucard would drain it's enemies health by bitting them would be too hard, so they made this, that is much more awesome. I consider Dark Metamorphosis to be mostly useless, but it is so fun to use and anyone can say it is creative.
HARMONY OF DISSONANCE
BEST: Summon Aquarius
Holy Water + Summoning Tome makes Juste summon a Lady with a vase that drops holy water at the whole screen. This is the best magic on the whole game, because it is holy elemental, thus, giving more damage to most enemies in the game and, considering Harmony of Dissonance's final boss , you can hit it so many times with this, that alone makes the fight a joke.
WORST: Ice Cubic
Holy Water + Ice Book summons three small ice cubes that explodes close to Juste or at some enemy. Weak, dull, uninteresting and pretty much useless everywhere, against anything but the lowest of enemies that you can easily kill with Vampire Killer alone.
MOST CREATIVE: Summon Fairie
Holy Book + Summoning Tome summons a fairy that keeps flying around Juste. When it sees an enemy, she suddenly attacks it with a HUGE toy-like hammer out of nowhere and vanishes. It is the closest you can have as a "familiar" on the game and it is amusing to see. The damage is quite strong but the spell itself is useless, but it is so stupid that you are not expecting that.
HONORABLE MENTION: God Bless
No Subweapon + Summoning Tome makes Juste heal itself. Considering how cheap healing items are, this is quite useless, but what is interesting about this spell is that you can only use it if you don't have a subweapon. There are only TWO ways for that to happen: if you play from the beginning to the point you get the Summoning Tome (90% of the whole game) without picking up a single subweapon OR if you let a specific enemy grabs you, that throws away your subweapon. Few would guess that "no subweapon + Summoning Tome" would actually be a spell itself.
ARIA OF SORROW
BEST: Lightning Doll
Lightning Doll lets you discharge thunderbolts and lightning from Soma's hand. Has one of the best ranges in the whole game, can damage more than once, it's damage is great, it's animation is awesome and it's only downside is how much MP it costs. Although Red Minotaur has a bigger range and a higher damage, it's MP cost is so absurdly high that it potentially blocks you from using it (unless you have Chaos Ring, but if you do, then almost anything is overkill). So, for the common gameplay, Lightning Doll is the best.
WORST: Killer Doll and Poison Worm
Aria of Sorrow has more than a hundred different powers and a lot of them suck, but Killer Doll and Poison Worm must be the among the most useless powers in gaminge existance. Killer Doll summons a cute/funny looking doll that should make enemies attack it so you can attack them. Not only it doesn't work on bosses, nor on some enemies, but those who do, usually just attacks it once and then goes quickly against you. And if you attack them, the effect is most of times, lost.
Poison Worm makes Soma immune to poison. The same game also have Zombie, that let's you stronger when poisoned (so, it is just better, making Poison Worm useless) and Zombie shows up before Poison Worm. Not only that, but not a lot of enemies give poison, and poison lasts for less than a minute to be something you should worry anyways. I honestly believe that, by this point, the dev team was out of ideas.
MOST CREATIVE: Tsuchinoko
Tsuchinoko is a hidden enemy, that can only be found in a specific place in the whole castle, and it doesn't show up all the time. Not only that, but it's soul drop chance is also low. What is creative about it is that it's soul, when equipped, for some unknown reason, makes the game's shop sell everything with a 20% discount. There is really no explanation on how that work (maybe Soma is more charismatic when equipped? Or it mind controls Hammer, the shop owner? Who knows) but it is something really unexpected.
LAMENT OF INNOCENCE
BEST: Micheal's Sword
Cross + Purple Orb. Leon summons a gigantic blue cross that hits a single targe several times until vanishes. It is not that useful on common fights, but it is the best magic in the whole game for ALL bosses, due to how high it is it's damage.
WORST: Triple Dagger
Dagger + Red Orb. Leon throws...three daggers. And that's it. Super lame.
MOST CREATIVE: Shatter Plane
Crystal + Green Orb. Leon apparently shatter the whole plane of existance. The screen "breaks" and everything on screen is damaged. Not very useful but great visual effect and quite interesting.
DAWN OF SORROW
BEST: Erynis
Soma summons Erynis, a huge female warrior that damages everything in front of her with nothing but her presence alone. You can use it on the ground and at the air and it is as awesome as it sounds. Although quick, the damage is powerful and it is my default choice when i get it. Hard to obtain and cost quite a good amout of MP, but it is the best soul in the game for me.
WORST: Ghost
Summons "separates" his soul from his body and you can fly around the scenario as a light to take a look at the map. This could be useful, if you coul go further, but you can barely get further aaway from Soma's body, you can't use Soma while on this form and you can't attack as a ghost. Absurdly useless.
MOST CREATIVE: Alura Une
What i find amusing about this soul, is how it works. Soma summons an Alura Une, a plant-like-naked-woman inside a rose, that quickly "entangles" him in a suggestive way, attacking everything around him with thorn tentacles. She embraces Soma like a clingy girlfriend and she even says "Soma-sama" (Lord Soma). Sometimes, when an enemy get's closer, she says "jamaa" (annoying). She is so clingy you can't MOVE while using her and sometimes it looks like she gets angry and attacks faster if Soma is damaged. Although oficially it isn't, i consider Alura Une to be a familiar, due to how much personality she has. With the right combinations, you can make her attack with unes and increase her damage even more. She is powerful, but her usefulness is limited to the fact you can't move. But to me, it is, by far, one of the funniest magics in Igavanias. Her power is unofficially called "Sweet Jail" by fans and the wikia.
PORTRAIT OF RUIN (considering only Dual Crush)
BEST: Greatest Five
The best, most powerful and fun dual crush of all. Jonathan and Charlotte summons the "greatest five" of Belmonts (Richter, Leon, Trevor, Juste and Simon) to attack the whole screen. Badass.
WORST: Rush
I know it is the first you get, but it is pretty lame to just make both characters attack sometimes.
MOST CREATIVE: none
ORDER OF ECCLESIA (considering Glyph Unions)
BEST: Universitas
Luminatio + Umbra makes Shanoa create a huge big-bang like explosion aat the screen that kills almost everything, consomes a ton of MP and gives a lot of damage. This power also stops time while in effect. A powered up Shanoa can kill the last boss by doing this repeatedly without getting hit once.
WORST: Union Scutum
Although it makes Shanoa immune to any damage for some time, you need to be equipped with Scutum on her both hands, with is something hard to do by itself (unless you set it up on Glyph sleeve) the effect doesn't last long and it consumes a lot of hearts.
MOST CREATIVE: Tellus
Any weapon Glyph + Pneuma basically gives Shanoa an upgraded, costly version of Crissaegrim / Valmanway. Which is pretty interesting for a game with no physical weapons.
That's it folks!
OBS: i didn't put Curse of Darkness here because i never created all I.Ds on the game. That is one of my still objectives, that i still want to do one day.
