Oops. Missed the vote. Well, I have no complaints. Much as I like Tsukihime, most people probably wouldn't have gotten the reference.

You know, I knew we'd be seeing more Metroidvanias crawling out after the Bloodstained Kickstarter, and that's cool. But I wish that they would have the insight to realize that this is probably not the best timing. There have been a lot of high profile campaigns in a very short span of time, and I just cannot hit all of them, much less them and small indie projects as well. As much as I love Metroidvania as a genre, I'm going to have to pass on this one because of financial reasons.

Muv-luv is one of those VNs I haven't tried that I actually intend to. My game backlog grows faster than it shrinks but it's like... uhh.. one of the ones I think I'll actually get around to playing within this decade. That said I saw some kind of report form JAST stating the translation for Seinarukana is to come this fall.. *EEEK*. I've been wanting to play seinarukana for over 5 years now!... That said Nobody played aselia the eternal eh?... *sniffle*.... *hic*... It's ok... I *hic*... already kn...kn..kn.know *SNRRRK*, I... I.... I'm nobody *runs away wailing*. Normally I'd say drop whatever you're playing and get to Muv-Luv right now, but since we now have an enhanced official localization on the way... But really, Mu-Luv(Alternative, specifically) is one of those VNs that is held in equally high regard by both the English and Japanese speaking VN communities. If you're into VNs at all, it's not one that should sit on your backlog forever.

Does that mean they will be localizing the All-age version, and not the adult version? Also, Muv-luv team is doing a free giveaway if anyone is interested. They aren't saying anything definitive on that yet due to Kickstarter's stance against 18+ material, but they did kind of let slip that they were planning on doing All Ages on Steam first, with an unrated version to follow.

Late August to early September is the time frame they gave. Nothing more specific yet. Also, here is some more news on the Muv-Luv localization. All information is subject to change: - They will be using the fan translation as a base, but are going to be doing QA on it to get a more polished result,re-translating in spots if needed.
So, can we expect a release still in this year? Maybe not, but certainly early next year. Possibly re-recording Engrish sections of Alternative so that it isn't inadvertently hilarious to English speaking audiences(no more "Blabo Reader! Dis is Command Post!") That was hilarious even for non-native speakers like me, sad that they are re-recording them ._. Looking into the possibility of a DRM-free release as well as Steam. They must release on Steam, there are a lot of people (like me) who hasn't another way for buying PC games, and just putting the game there is a kind of marketing. Possible Muv-Luv anime series and/or movies! That isn't necessarily a good thing, the chances of a horrible adaptation are way higher than a good adaptation. - No word on a release date. No real predictions yet either since we aren't dealing with one of the usual companies here(JAST, MangaGamer or Sekai Project).
- I and others have responded that changes to the VA should be made optional for those that want the original content, and they have responded favorably to that. That said, it's not supposed to be funny, so I'm for the change.
- They are definitely releasing it on Steam. No question there. But a lot of people prefer DRM-free releases, and they said they'd look into that possibility.
- I view it as a good thing because a horrible adaptation can be ignored(Tsukiwhat now?), while a non-existent one cannot be seen. The quality will mostly be determined by what studio picked it up, and how many episodes/movies they order. Another reason it would be a good thing is that even a bad adaptation can boost attention and sales of the VN(e.g. the Grisaia no Kajitsu adaptation was awful, but reportedly it still drew attention to the VN and improved sales). It's too early to say "I have faith," but I'm at least willing to give the idea a chance. Well, we are getting a Muv-Luv anime anyway. It's just going to be for the Schwarzesmarken Light Novels. So I guess look to that as an indication of what sort of quality we'll be getting.

- age is providing the most updated assets for this release(probably from the PS3 version), so expect high resolution art.
- Kimi ga Nozomu Eien(aka Rumbling Hearts) translation to be late stretch goal for the Kickstarter.
- Possible Muv-Luv anime series and/or movies!

For those unaware, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is an earlier age VN that involves characters found in Muv-Luv Alternative(in an alternate universe). It's almost as big as the entire Muv-Luv Trilogy itself in terms of script length, and I was pretty sure we'd never see it localized because of its size and its relative obscurity. There is an anime version that is actually pretty good(though obviously truncated from its 50 hour+ source).

The Shenmue 3 kickstarter campaign has finally been revitalized? Good news. I'm still going to wait until the final 5 days before I pledge, to see if there may be any chance whatsoever of reaching their highest stretch-goal. Spoiler alert: there's not. I love Shemue, and I want this game to be the best it can be, but I don't think anyone is kidding themselves into thinking that this Kickstarter is somehow going to accrue twice the funding of Bloodstained. Could the game reach higher funding through Paypal donations after the KS campaign? Absolutely. There are already die hard fans wanting to donate every month to help spur development. But the Kickstarter itself? Not a chance in hell.

Well then. Coming from Sekai Project: G-Senjou no Maou - Coming to Steam this summer Chrono ClockNarcissu remakeRoot DoubleClannad - Release set for November Coming from Mangagamer: HimawariBeat Blades HarukaUmineko no Naku Koro niNow I'm mostly excited by Umineko and G-Senjou, but the big win overall here is Beat Blades Haruka. Its developer, Alicesoft, has been pretty staunchly set against exporting their games, so this may be a sign of some really positive things to come for the western VN community. But holy crap! Umineko, G-Senjou, Grisaia, Muv-Luv, Clannad... 2015 wins this decade. It just does.

This summer is getting filled with the best annoyance I've ever encountered. That's 4 projects within a couple months of each other that I've wanted and never thought I'd actually see. A full HD Castlevania successor, a Mega Man Legends successor, freaking Shenmue, and a full official Muv-Luv trilogy localization with hints of a possible translation of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien or even a future Muv-Luv trilogy anime. Seriously, I don't know what god of geekdom allowed for this alignment of the stars, but I simultaneously want to sign up for his dogma and kick his ass for the ridiculous timing of it all.

I really don't get the hate. They look like Type-Moon characters. It's a fairly distinct and easily identifiable style once you've read one of their works. Yes, it doesn't look exactly like the old Tsukihime character art, but that's what happens when an artist has had 15 years to refine his technique.

I've seen both Vampire Hunter D, and Bloodlust. Liked them a lot. But, CG-animated series? Does that mean Yoshitaka Amano won't be doing the artwork anymore? Strictly speaking, he didn't before. Amano just did character designs, like he does on most things he's involved with. I'm not even sure if he had anything to do with Bloodlust directly, since he's mostly credited with character design for VHD in general. The actual animation in Bloodlust followed a style more reminiscent of Ninja Scroll, which isn't that surprising since they were done by the same studio. Basically, expect Vampire Hunter CG to have as much in common with Bloodlust as Bloodlust does to its predecessor. Characters will have the same basic design because of Amano, but will be interpreted differently due to a different studio being used in its production. I'm not sure how I feel about this to be honest. I don't have anything against CG animation in general, but I don't really feel that VHD is a great fit. I'll have to see some footage to judge whether its for me or not.

I'm very excited for the official Muv-Luv release. I played it thanks to a translation patch and loved it, I'd certainly be happy to support it officially! Muv-Luv's a visual novel? I've only heard of Muv-Luv in passing...is it a series? Or just one game so far? Muv-Luv is a franchise at this point. There are two primary visual novels: Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative. Muv-Luv itself is broken up into two stories: Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited. You have to read the two main heroines' routes in Extra to unlock Unlimited. When people are raving about Muv-Luv, it's usually Alternative that they are talking about. Muv-Luv Alternative is the highest rated visual novel on VNDB. Outside of those, there are side stories and fan-discs. Most notable is Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse because that one got an anime adaptation. Don't judge the series by that anime, because it is not representative of the main visual novels. There's also Muv-Luv Altered Fable, Muv-Luv Unlimited: The Day After, and more. One often ignored part of the story... kind of... is Kimi ga Nozumu Eien, or as it is called in the west, Rumbling Hearts. An anime has been made from that, and I do recommend that one. It has no real relation to the plot of Muv-Luv, but some of the characters show up in Muv-Luv Alternative, and there are references to Rumbling Hearts in Alternative's dialogue.
