- Girls clothes are made of paper (while men's clothes are made of strong cloth)
I know a lot of you have seen this where guys are in an explosion and and maybe a cuff or a little patch of cloth gets ripped, but when a girl gets caught in a power blast her clothes get ripped up to the point where she is almost naked (mind you I'm not complaining, it's just funny)
Just for you: Rules, huh.... well... People don't die when they're killed. Unless the writer is Urobuchi or Tomino.

Ah, one of these threads. Well, time for my obligatory Ar Tonelico post. Ar Tonlico is an RPG that revolves around the idea of singing as magic. In most cases, the fighters are secondary damage dealers, with their real purpose being to guard the caster against attacks so she doesn't get interrupted(spells are channeled and their strength grows the longer you let them build). It also has visual novel sections that let you form a connection with your spellcasters. In any case, as a song-focused game, the music tends to be spectacular. The writer even created a full language called Hymmnos(which you can read about here and here that is used for a lot of the lyrics(though some is also in Japanese). Here are some examples:

Wow, Just finished watching Nisekoi. It's a distillation of the typical anime romance that doesn't actually go anywhere. Pretty much "Misunderstandings and Missed Opportunities: the Anime." The humor is great though, and it's by Studio Shaft. I'd recommend it as long as you don't need actual plot resolution in your stories.

"7/10, it's shit" "8/10, it's one of the best shows I've ever watched" "1/10, mein charcter sux" I don't think it evens out. One of the reasons I'm switching over to Hummingbird is that in addition to the point-based scoring system(they have 5 stars with half scoring allowed, so basically a 10 point system), they have an alternate scoring system that gives the options of like, dislike and indifferent. Like so:

Y-you're right! Roar!! *starts throwing ban hammers* *Ahem* This season for me there are two animes that catch my attention: Chaos Dragon and Charlotte. At least for now, they are very promising. For this post then, I shall recommend Psycho-Pass. I'm still recommending Gakkou Gurashi to anyone and everyone. And once again, don't look up any information about it. The less you know about the show going into it, the better it is. Other strong recommendations for this season: Overlord - Part Sword Art Online, part Captain N: the Game Master; the MC is Skeletor. Animated by Madhouse. Ushio to Tora - Do you like 90s action/adventure anime? This is pretty much that with modern animation standards. Rokka no Yuusha - fantasy/adventure that isn't yet another RPG-come-to-life show with a Meso-American aesthetic veneer and featuring Fantasy-Batman as the MC GATE - The Japanese Defense Force explores a parallel fantasy dimension and fights dragons. There are some others that I'm watching that I like, but haven't quite gotten to the point where I would really recommend them to anyone yet. Jitsu wa Watashi wa is looking pretty good in the romcom department(and it features a dense vampire girl who speaks in a Kansai dialect), and Shimoneta is worth a try if you like crude humor.

So here's the idea for this game. One person posts a song, and then after listening to it, the next person posts a song that they think the previous would like based on their post. Then the second person posts another song they like for the next person to reply to. So it would look kind of like this:
Comments are welcome of course, but not required. Okay, so I'll start. This is from an Icelandic artist named Ólafur Arnalds who mostly deals with strings and piano mixed with electronica. This particular song also features the singing of Arnór Dan Arnarson, memeber of Icelandic band Agent Fresco and notable for having worked with Yoko Kano on the soundtrack for Zankyou no Terror.

"What? It only managed to surpass Bloodstained by that much? It even showed up at E3, and Bloodstained didn't! I guess Shenmue 3 isn't as big of a deal as I thought it was." See, that's where I don't understand. Even if Shenmue 1 and 2 were gods gifts to gaming, and they very well may be, I don't know, I haven't played them...but even if they were. Castlevania is just too old a legacy with success after success. I mean it's like sonic only WITHOUT the bad repuation it has nowdays, and it's even older than sonic too! That's why I said shenmue being more successful a KS would be akward because that would be like trying to say there's a bigger demand for a new xenosaga than say... a new pokemon if they stopped making pokemon games the way fans wanted for 6 years or wahtever. I mean I love xenosaga, I would love for them to complete what they started, but I simply would not even dream of comparing it to something with as old and successful a pedigree as castlevania, no way. And shenmue is an even more obscure title. with the first game on like the least popular console of its generation. I'm not trying to say shenmue 3 doesn't deserve whatever, or that its fans don't deserve whatever, but I'm simply mind-boggled at how people can think it's NATURAL for such a small niche franchise to get more support than something that is closer to Mario than anything else (not in gameplay obviously). I mean if they stopped making mario games for years and their was no indication of future ones coming without a KS, I would expect it to blow other KS campaigns outta the water, and I don't even like mario that much. The easiest way I can describe the way that Shenmue fans feel about finally getting a sequel is to compare it to the way a lot of people would feel if Joss Whedon were to announce that he was continuing Firefly with the original cast. They both have similarly devoted fanbases, and in both cases we kind of got left hanging without warning and little hope of resolution(though at least Firefly got Serenity and some comics). Even Half-Life 3 isn't as bad in that regard because the only thing keeping Valve from finishing that story is Valve's own apathy towards their franchise and their fans. Yu has been trying to find a way to make Shenmue 3 for years. Also, one thing to remember is that while Castlevania certainly has pedigree, the Igavania's weren't all that successful from a financial standpoint. The reason we kept getting so many of them is because Igarashi knew how to spin gold out a limited budget. So the Castlevania fandom is similar to the Shenmue fandom in that both are more loyal than numerous.

so aparrently other game developers are saying this games kickstarter was a big flop? I think I need to update my dictionary. None of the definitions of "flop" I have available seem to fit the current situation. Could it have done better with a better run campaign? Probably. But $6.3 Million raised is not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

I actually un-pledged my $5, since I feel there's no point in me pledging that little, and I don't want to pledge more. I'll definitely buy it when it comes out in stores. I pledged $5 partially as a token of support, partially so that I will get Kickstarter updates as the development progresses, and partially as a reminder to look into Slacker Backer options if they go that route later. I actually would pledge more, but technically I'm $150 behind on bills this month, so it's not really an option.

Feel free. Meanwhile, Star Citizen will still be beating the pants off of everyone in crowd funding, yet that also won't make Bloodstained, Shenmue or any other game worse for the comparison. Just going to point out that Star Citizen only amassed a little over 2 million during their KS campaign, so they don't really count I think. I don't think Shenmue 3 surpassing Bloodstained will be looked at as good news in the long run. First of all, Shenmue 3 had massive exposure at E3, plus it's Shenmue 3 which everyone says is up there with the likes of Half Life 3, and a FF7R. People will look at it and say, "What? It only managed to surpass Bloodstained by that much? It even showed up at E3, and Bloodstained didn't! I guess Shenmue 3 isn't as big of a deal as I thought it was.". They'll see the stretch goals and think, "Wow, they only managed to get half their stretch goals? Hm... this is what happens when I believe in the hype too much." That's actually not true. Unlike most crowd funded games, Star Citizen got the majority of it's funding through Paypal even during the Kickstarter. Between Kickstarter and Paypal they got $6.2 million with their initial crowd funding effort. Of course we all knew what happened after... As for the long run, I don't think dollar amounts will matter at all. What will matter will be the games themselves. Broken Age was one of the first major Kickstarter video game successes, but it's now not really a big deal because the second half of the game turned out not to be that great. On the other hand, Pillars of Eternity turned out really well, and is well regarded as a result(obviously some people disagree, but that's any game). No one really talks about PoE's crowd funding amount anymore because the game itself is good. These Kickstarters are great for quickly building a community as well as the obvious financial assistance they bring, and that's one reason that I support them when I find a project I like(and can afford. I only pledged $5 to Shenmue 3 because I'm pretty broke right now). But it's what comes after that's most important. How the developer interacts with the community. How well they make use of the funds available. One of the reasons that Star Citizen has done so well post-KS is because they have been interacting with the community on a level that puts even Bloodstained's KS campaign to shame. That isn't a slight against Igarashi; they've just been that good. On the other hand, look at the issues Mighty No. 9 had with its community. Actually, don't. It's a mess, and prone to sparking flame wars. I think that Bloodstained will be remembered well on all fronts. It had a great KS campaign, and I anticipate that the journey from here to the finished product will be a fun one. And we already know that Igarashi can knock this sort of game out of the park in his sleep, so I can't imagine the game itself being anything less than stellar. We'll see about Shenmue. To be honest, I don't see Yu as the type to be as communicative during development, so it's all going to come down to their community manager, if they get one. Because of that, I think that there will be more pressure put on the final product. If I was to make a prediction, it would be that prior fans of Shenmue will love it, while opinions elsewhere will be more mixed simply because Shenmue really is a niche game.

Gamer's are the real winners this year, so many old games are coming back with or without the companies that started them. Yeah, sorry I got a bit selfish over there. Anyway, what old games you guys would love to come back, with or without the companies? I would love to see Total Annihilation coming back, Kingdoms was a remarkable game for me, it's part of my childhood. 2D Metroid games Bushido Blade Xenogears SNES era Final Fantasy Parasite Eve Legend of Legaia Elemental Gearbolt PSX era Suikoden PSX era Star Ocean Ogre Battle Warcraft(not World of) Vagrant Story Contra System Shock Heavy Gear(well that one is coming, so... yay!) Lots more, probably, but that's just off the top of my head...

So here's my feeling on this. I do want frequent updates. I don't feel that they should be scheduled updates. I've found that when a developer commits to regular updates, you usually either get dull updates or disappointment when an update is delayed.
