...not that I mind seeing snapshots though...
This! How come IGN gets exclusive snapshots (and an IGA interview) and us the backers get none?

The problem is how, Ben explicitely told us there is no money for that. It's either the Wii U or the switch. Also no, they didn't knew the Wii U was at the end of it's life cycle. No smart businessman makes a game for an obsolete console, IGA himself said it, you should always aim for the newest console because that's what sells the most. Ben did the math wrong so I didn't want to listen more (at 37:25 of the podcast): 100 unit sales x 30 USD = 3,000 USD 1,000 unit sales x 30 USD = 30,000 USD 10,000 unit sales x 30 USD = 30,000 USD They need aprox 8k units sold to port it (considering the cost of the port at around 250k as the needed stretch goal in the initial campaing). Also that is money they DON'T have right now, which would make the profit of the Wii U just break even, they would need at least another 10k units sold after that to have some profit from that console at all. It's a lose lose situation no matter what, they don't have the money to port it right now, and they would lose all the profits they could eventually make just by costing the port. Bloodstained would be lucky to sell 1,000 or more units for the Wii U by 2018, also said by them. Never mind 18,000 copies to get a decent profit from that version, thats just not realistic.

I have been thinking more. IGA should deliver the Wii U version because it was a part of the Kickstarter campaign. Armature is handling both Wii U and Vita ports and I hope they can finish their work. It is fair to make it because it was one of the goals of the Kickstarter. Many supporters backed for Wii U version, and as other goals, this one should be fulfilled. It doesn`t really matter if Wii U will be relevant or not in 2018, it matters that it was one of the goals/promises. At the moment of the campaign and coming up with stretch goals, they already knew that Wii U is at the end of its life cycle. Now that Switch has been announced, it makes sense to make Bloodstained port for it as well. As Unreal engine 4 will be supported on NS, it will be easy enough to make a port. The NS port can be financed by the publisher and this version can do really well on the market. So, yeah, I am saying both Wii U and Switch versions should be done. Wii U as part of the campaign, and additional NS version which will probably sell very well.

Nope, there is no schedule unfortunately. I do however think that the last update could have been a lot better. Go watch the IGN interview they did to IGA, way way better than the entire update by a mile. I'm really expecting something more substancial soon, with all this Wii U/switch rumors going on.

I voted for different reference. I'd like something harder than SOTN, but not as difficult as OOE. I felt the Souls and PoR games had a good level of difficulty. But as other people have brought up, I'd like the super hard stuff to be in Classic Mode or Nightmare difficulty in order to give people more options on how to enjoy the game. This, Souls level of difficulty would be awesome. I'm really expecting ultra hard difficulty in Classic and nightmare mode.

Ben has indeed changed since the "It's better than nothing" incident. Seems like things are moving fast with the development that things like the crafting mechanics already have some sort of shape now. Curious about who is the second development team. Great interview overall, so entertaining that it was over before I could notice it.

Oh boy here we go again, I really doubt we should have a 3rd thread for this topic but it's nice to see a poll this time around so we can get a feeling on the comunity preference in systems. For me, NS all the way, I'm gonna quote what I wrote in another similar thread made a couple of days ago which sums up my thoughts exactly on this topic.
My only real worry is how sales are going to be the first month, most people that really wanted the game already payed for it with their donation. This means that the real hardcore fandom isn't going to boost initial sales, so if a good marketing campaing isn't done, the sales are going to be mediocre. This will not be because it's a bad game, but because the true fandom already gave it's fair share just to make the project. Now it's up to 505 games to mass advertise Bloodstained so it reaches more people.
Going a little bit off topic for a moment but this is why I would love bloodstained to be on the newly released nintendo switch and not for the Wii U. it's a perfect title for the console as well as a good oportunity to create new fans for the genre which we are in dire need of getting, if we expect IGA to be able to release a sequel by itself without the need of crowdfunding. The Wii U is on it's way out this year so taking an insane amount of the budget just to port it to a dead system isn't a smart thing to do. Yes I know the moral and ethical implications of not delivering this version, I'm just shedding some light onto why keeping that version alive is not recomendable if we are looking out for the best future of this franchise.
As expected my line of thoughts are in line with what Ben said in the interview, a little bit too close if I might say so myself. The reality is that if we expect Bloodstained to thrive as a franchise, NS is a way better choice than Wii U, but now it's up to us to decide.

Well...yeah. You're pretty much right. These games are in a pretty tight spot. They're not cheap to make, but only a niche audience really wants them. Crowdfunding really was a smart way to go because of that, because the people that -do- want them -really do-. You can get a few hundred dollars out of a smaller group of consumers to make up for larger numbers of only putting forward $20-60. Konami wasn't objectively wrong in that decision regarding money, no, but I think that another portable entry would have done well. At the very least, a straight to digital 3DS title along the lines of Ace Attorney 5 and on. A console game, they probably wouldn't have been for. It makes me sad that these are only for a 'niche' audience. Sure, the games aren't for everyone, but I feel as though the legacy should have been built up from the beginning, and the fan horizon should be a bit more broad. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree with everyone here. Though...one shining ray of light is the fact that they WERE able to secure 5.5 million. I think that goes to show just how dedicated the fans are; though fewer in number. I saw that there were outrageous amounts of money poured into some of the slacker titles, 5,000, 6,500, 8,500...ETC. And I also saw how numerous the backers were for these slots. And it warmed the cockles of my heart. Though one certainly can't blame Konami for their decision, one has to at least see things from their standpoint. Just at the end of the day. Yes this is really awesome, I myself upped my tier once after the main campaing ended and I'm planning on doing it again soon. So I can only imagine we are probably close to $6M atm just from crowdfunding itself. Yes I know the moral and ethical implications of not delivering this version, I'm just shedding some light onto why keeping that version alive is not recomendable if we are looking out for the best future of this franchise. Mind you this all of this is asuming Bloodstained is any good at all in the first place. Really this title needs stellar reviews from both gaming sites and the people itself. With excelent reviews then more people will flock toward it and boost sales. Average results aren't good enough here. Bloodstained needs to blow critics out of the water if it doesn't want to flop economically. This is the hard truth. I really, really can't imagine the pressure that is within IGA right now to deliver a proper game. Right now he is doing it not just for us, not just for the future of kickstarter games, now basically the whole genre rest on his back. I'm almost sure if Bloodstained doesn't do well we are bounded to only get Metroidvania gothic type games off indie developers, never again a publisher will invest big sums of money into this kind of genre. Let's just hope for a good game, because if someone has showed me that he can consistently deliver good Metroidvania games it is my man IGA. Damn this was a little bit sad to write.

On a completely unrelated topic, I saw the 505 video again and I found it funny that IGA said "Now that we cannot let everyone down, let's work harder to develop Bloodstained together". Maybe because some other titles *cought* MN9 *cought* didn't end up as expected, the whole gaming world is focused on Bloodstained as the kickstarter redemption lol. They cannot afford to put out a bad game. I cannot imagine the pressure that IGA has right now.

Nope, just my special backer version should be enough, I'm not a PC gamer and I don't have other consoles besides the PS4 so I guess I have no need for it. My pals aren't into this genre so no reason to buy another.

I enjoyed cotm, it was very different. also I believe all the bosses were difficult in all the ds vanias if only on the first try. APART (my project) will have no difficulty options, but NG+ will double all enemy stats each run, with this exponential scale I assume the game will eventually become impossible. You are doing the work of the gods if you mod it that way . Unfortunately I ordered on PS4 so I won't be able to play it like that but it's good to know someone is gonna do that.

God yes, one thing I hate from SoTN is that it is pathetically easy, no troubles at all unless you try a low lever run which you shouldn't do if you try to get a challenge. I'm hoping you can play bloodstained on nightmare mode from the get go. I also have high hopes for that that mode, I expect it to provide some challange because in the past barring CoTM (the only metroidvania not directed by IGA btw) were very easy even on hard mode. I know this is just a fantasy but I wish difficulty could scale ala bloodborne, each playthrough increasing monster health and dmg... to keep really hardcore players entertained.

Familiars in previous games have all been a little repetitive in the way that they always either stand behind you or fly around the screen.I would love a skeleton familiar, maybe a full skeleton who doesn't fly, just for the sake of having something like a buddy with you exploring the castle.

I think people are overcomplicating things, Pure Miriam just showed how previous IGAvanias had used this technology before and we still consider them good games, there is no reason to think Bloodstained is gonna be any different. In this modern day and age no game this big can be handcrafted 100%, hell I'l bet it was this way by the time the GBA came out. People need to understand that it's a huge drain on resourses and time that the team could be using for other more productive things. I'm almost positive this was the way IGA expected to create the game from day 1, why? because he has used it in every single IGAvania before and the proof is right here in this post. Yes IGA had hopes that Inti could learn an efficient way of doing it, sadly it seems that isn't the case but he is handling the situation appropiately by hiring people capable of using UE4 to it's fullest to ensure the castle doesn't end up like bland repetitive world and that it is finished on time.

There is going to be a poll for sure about it, perhaps if the mayority of the voters, 80% or more, was ok with either changing to NX or an alternative console then the posibility of dropping the Wii U version could become a reality. I highly emphasize on the 80% or more because the result shouldn't be a polarizing choice, most of the comunty must agree with it for the team to halt the development of the Wii U version. A huge descision like this cannot be taken just by some small margin like 51% or even 60%. I don't know if refunds are possible here but it has been done for other kickstarters before.

You know all those assets that you see repeating over and over again in games? Y'know, things like wall textures, various patterns, objects, paintings, windows and statues? Well, what procedural generation will do is take all those shapes and arrange them differently and/or give them specific details (cracks in different places, various colors, etc.). This is nothing to be afraid of, as it will enrich the castle and make every room feel more unique. Yes, this is exactly why I'm not worried about procedual generation for Bloodstained. For example it would be a waste of time creating walls and pillars over and over again when the same are used in multiple rooms in an area, plus making them procedually generated doesn't mean that the reused asset will be an exact copy of the orginal but that it will be really similar to the rest of the area, blending into the background nicely with a touch of originality to it. I trust IGA for this and the recent screenshots have led me to believe in him even more.

I don't think portraits take you away from the game at all, they have been in every castlevania before bloodstained, just mix them up between some other paintings in different places and it's good. You don't typically see many portraits in general in igavanias especially not in ONE area bunched together like it seems to be here. My post shows that there's CREATIVE ways to artistically insert them in a way that benefits the games aesthetic and artistic value. IMO But... That's exactly what I said, not put them together and spread them in other ways... Don't really get what are you quoting here.
