Now that Castlevania isn't in the title, I do like to think that Bloodstained doesn't have to be limited to a castle. I love exploring areas that are outside of the castle ... which is why I found Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia very refreshing to play. OK, there were many copy 'n' paste jobs throughout the areas (including the castles) but, more than likely, that was down to a limited budget.
One area that has often been in the back of my mind is a wasteland of some kind that precedes the castle. Since a wasteland may contain huge amounts of junk, rubbish, abandoned vehicles, old buildings, piles of rocks and other curious oddities, there'll always be a fair amount of exploration to keep oneself occupied. Not forgetting the creepy atmosphere knowing that something insanely horrible is lurking around ... inevitably, leading to a poo-inducing confrontation with a freakish, abomination of a boss.

I'd like to see a knicker thief enemy/sprite! Some kind of really creepy dude who jumps out of a cupboard or something, mugs Miriam and quickly runs off with her knickers. He would be extremely difficult to catch since he'd be a terrific sprinter.

Medusa is one of my all-time favourite monsters and so I'd be the bitch from Portait of Ruin. The ability to turn onlookers into stone from a mesmerizing stare is a helluva power!

While on the subject of centipedes...
It begins with a large skeleton boss of some sort but its very bones are imbued with dark magic. However, when the skeleton is defeated, the dark magic kicks in and the large spine elongates, all vertebrae broadens and spinal nerves grow from the processes to form the legs. The skull cracks open, the jawbone splits in half and transforms into mandibles. A giant, deadly skeleton centipede is created.

Rather than a Spectral Sword, how about a Spectral Whip? Would surely be a formidable enemy or a terrific guardian prior to meeting a big boss. I think as far as bosses go, a Galamoth-esque boss must rank right up there with the best of them. I remember playing SotN a few years ago and had an absolute nightmare trying to kill Galamoth. When I did defeat him (eventually) I had to sit back and take a good breather LOL You had a nightmare about moi? Do tell. In all seriousness, I'd like to see a boss-enemy so formidable (I'm sure some others from the Castlevania series would qualify...like Eligor from OoE). Just going to point out these two threads for anyone who isn't already aware of them: Ideas for EnemiesDemons of the Lesser Key of SolomonYes, Galamoth was a real pain in the backside. I tried all kinds of weapons and combos trying to break him down and it took hours. At one point, I even flicked a karma coin out of sheer desperation before being brutally fried with electric. Thing is, I only discovered the Beryl Circlet long after I defeated him But ya know, I hope Bloodstained gets another super boss like Galamoth. No pain, no gain Eligor from OoE was a striking looking, rock-hard boss but I found that the excellent Arma Felix glyph was very effective against it.

I'd like to see more ghosts but not the Castlevania ghosts that appeared as small skulls/heads that floated around because they aren't very ghostly at all. The ghosts that I did like were those underwater ones from Order of Ecclesia ... the eerie looking St Elmo.
I really do need to see large misty apparitions that look as creepy as they are malevolent.

Ah, just the kind of subject I love ... monsters!
To be quite honest, the type of monsters that really appeal to me are the ones that fit more into the arachnid, insect, mollusc, reptile and vegetation mould or lovecraftian style. Even human/insect hybrids. Something that stirs the imagination in the twisted jungles of the mind. Nasty forms that kinda defy biology ... hence why dark magic would be used to create them that could blend seamlessly into a storyline like Bloodstained.
Anyway, relating to Castlevania games, these are some of the creatures that deserve to be bigger and better -
Giant Skeleton Archer - Imagine being stopped in your tracks by a 20ft tall skeleton boss that shoots arrows the size of spears. Of course, some arrowheads would be also be explosive too.
Giant Tanjelly - An enormous, colour-changing beast of a blob. Capable of long/short range acid and glue attacks. Stalks and rapidly pounces on its victim before digesting it. Also has the ability to teleport.
Giant Corpseweed - This nighmare of a colossal weed sprouts lots of ugly heads that spits cursed blood and vomits large pools of poison. Its vast arm-like root system reaches out from the soil to pull victims underground.
Giant Ukoback - Knows all manner of pyro and levitates around creating carpets and curtains of fire. A huge, hideous firebug who torches any living thing that gets in his way.

One thing I've never been keen on in Castlevania is the percentage of the map explored. When it reaches 100% ... it kinda gets disappointing because you know there's nothing left to explore. It's as though the mystery of the castle is over. It needs to go in my opinion because I like to think that even after you've completed the adventure, some mysteries may still lurk inside. Just imagine, you've conquered the game and then, weeks later, you find and crack a hidden code that leads to a mysterious room/portal that doesn't show up on the map.
Talking of rooms, how about an inner sanctum that lies deep within the castle walls where the character may perform a difficult astral/etheric projection ultimately leading to a discovery of new secrets? Maybe such a precious room would require a herculean task to locate.

I've voted for the 'Someone Yet To Be Introduced' option.
I think it'd be refreshing if a new character was infused into the story as a loner, vigilante, rebel or loose cannon (male or female) who may be good or bad depending on how the story unfolds ... or even be an angelic person with a bad side or an evil person with a good side. Of course, this character would be skilled in some kind of powerful magic/sorcery and possess fighting skills that have, perhaps, been self-taught. In a nutshell, an unpredictable, mysterious soul .

I'd love to see more things in the background through castle windows, balconies, etc that can be accessed/discovered via a certain spell, some kind of supernatural means or puzzle element. The Flying Humanoid in Dawn of Sorrow being a sparkling example. Little things, barely inconspicuous, that can easily be missed if you're not paying attention or are distracted by a nearby enemy. The concept of discovering things going on outside of the castle while you're in it adds an extra streak of mystery to the great adventure.

Absolutely! We're probably in the minority but I've always preferred buying a game cartridge, sticking it in the console and just getting on with it Hear, hear. More run with digital games than with physical games, by a mile. You can take care of physical assets to keep them in peak condition. Digital versions ... don't trust them. Around 18 months ago, I downloaded Steam and bought a cheap, fun game from it (Worms: Revolution). The game itself was fine but I always had to be online to play it ... which basically sucked! Due to that reason, I uninstalled Steam and, hey presto, the game disappeared with it Now, I don't know what direction Steam has gone since then and I really don't care to be quite honest but I'm certainly not keen on online gaming.

Prehensile Hair Mode - Allows Miriam to use her hair to grab & fling enemies, swing from ceilings, cocoon foes and bungee jump off tall structures.
Spinning Top Mode - Transforms her into a vicious whirring top to mow down small/medium enemies and inflict damage on bigger foes. Like all spinning tops, she will eventually wobble, skid and come to a sudden stop where she'll sit up, giggle and say "Oooh".
Ride A Wine Bottle Mode - Miriam rides a large, magical wine bottle that hovers just off the ground. This bottle can run down foes, shoot hard-hitting corks and spray acid wine that can dissolve some enemies. If she gets off it, she may use the whole bottle as a devastating cocktail bomb.
Wine Glass Death Mode - Should Miriam perish, she'll go out in a spectacular scattering of wine glasses (a bit like Zacchino from Portrait of Ruin with his red roses). The sound of crashing glass is heard.

All of the above things are very important to me, but even moreso is something harder to explain...kind of the charm or essence of the old games. Though gothic and with crazy monsters, the games have kind of a lighthearted adventure feel to them, with nonsensical but awesome little touches that added to the unique atmosphere: items/hearts from candles, meat from walls, hidden areas everywhere, non-obvious interactable objects (chairs, telescopes, clocks, giant pianos). I'm very hopeful that delicate little features such as hearts from candles, food from walls, hidden areas, etc will be present in Bloodstained. Regarding the candles, I always loved the Mimic, Scary & Trick candles from Circle of the Moon and trying to hit the tiny entities that jumped out before they melted into the floor. While the giant piano was a striking attribute in Dawn of Sorrow, it didn't reward the player with anything other than being a simple tool for playing a few bum notes on. Wouldn't it be great if there was a similar piano in Bloodstained that harboured a horrible secret ... that one could summon a really nasty apparition if a certain tune was played on it? *evil grin* Also, remember the eerie portrait on the wall where its creepy eyes followed Soma's every move? Nice touch but could've been better if the painting suddenly came alive and gobbled you up if you pranced around or observed it too much! I think these kind of features have lots of potential to draw the player even deeper into the game.

Personally Motoko, I think the Vita is, potentially, heaven sent for games like Castlevania and so I'm expecting Bloodstained to play as smooth as silk on it. Very excited indeed!
