Sadly, I haven't bought Bloodstained because of the issues, delays, etc that have happened. I've eradicated the whole PS Vita disappointment out of my head and have now purchased a Switch Lite because I love on-the-go gaming. I'm now relying on a problem-free Switch version ... at some point in a future far, far away! Just thought I'd quote myself ... After much deliberation, I decided to take the leap of faith and so purchased Bloodstained just over two weeks ago for my Switch Lite with the latest upgrades. Everything started fine and then ... WHOOSH! I was transported back in time (in my head obviously) to the days when I first played Symphony of the Night. Bloodstained is playing as smooth as cream across strawberries and it's an absolute blast. I've just finished an epic battle with those twins dragons on the spiraling tower. Flipping heck! I'm over the moon with Bloodstained. All of the negativity I had about the game, I've rolled it up into an imaginary baseball bat and whacked myself over the head with it. Chuffed to bits!

Bought this game for my Switch Lite a few weeks ago and I'm blown away by it. It has some really engaging gameplay (plays just like any great Castlevania), quite a complex storyline and truly gorgeous visuals. The game is far bigger than I ever anticipated and there are loads, I mean loads of secrets. OK, the loading times can take a while and, occasionally, an error may pop up which causes unsaved progress to get lost ... but that aside, the game is right up there in my top 3 platformers of all time. There's an abundance of weapons, inventory and strange items waiting to be discovered and the combat is very satisfying and responsive. The boss battles are rather difficult but, once you master the weapons/techniques, you're in for a helluva showdown. One boss fight in particular left me totally stonkered with my heart bumping in my chest like kettledrum. The monsters are relentless and vicious ... and range from creepy and sinister to disturbingly chilling. Each and every doorway, path, room or area leaves a foreboding feeling that you can never get too complacent. I'm still playing it and still can't see the end in sight. Terrific stuff!

It really does pain me to say this but .. I've got no intention of buying Bloodstained My fire has gone out. I'm on auto-pilot in a despondent kinda way! Just reading about all the bugs, issues and problems over the months leaves the impression of what it must feel like to wake up after a botched operation. I'll be hanging in the shadows...

I'm currently playing Metroid: Samus Returns 3DS (brilliant game btw) but there's been some debate whether or not it plays at 30fps or 60fps. Personally, whatever the frame rate, I think the game plays with a seamless fluidity and is a joy to behold. If Bloodstained plays like Samus Returns, then there'll certainly be no complains on my part.

As long as it'd be a proper physical version, then yes, I'd be all for it in the twinkling of an eye.

It might just be me, but I just can't get behind Hollow Knight's art direction. It has this almost Tim Burton-ish storybook look that rubs me the wrong way. I'm not saying it isn't attractive and impressive in its own right, but I don't like that visual style personally. A lot of the acclaimed 2D space right now has art directions that don't sit right with me, honestly: Dead Cells, Ori, Sundered, Guacamelee...there's this washed-out, dreamy aesthetic that bugs me. They're fine for what they are, but they don't appeal to me. Same here. I too find the art direction annoying on 2D games. The main character in Hollow Knight looks like a rotten tooth! I find the bug/monster designs are too simplistic, bloated and wishy-washy. We all know that gameplay is the backbone of any game but the artwork has to grab me too.

I think I'm gonna have to buy a Switch yeah you should totally get a switch... had mine since launch day and I never regretted it! ...and plus just think about it, Bloodstained on the go!!! oh and I am not one of those nintedo only fanboys haha... I have a ps4, xbox one and pc too (and bought bloodstained on all those platforms too) but I think I will be playing on my switch more, it's just too convenient. I love how this trailer revitalized the hype on this game I can't stop smiling haha Thanks for the advice Jeff. I was a bit downcast when it was revealed that Bloodstained was scratched off the PS Vita. However, on reflection, perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. The Switch does suit my gaming needs. Your post is just the tonic that I needed

Have to confess that there's a slight doubt creeping into my mind ... even though I'm not quite sure what it could be! I can only compare it to entering a warm room and discovering a cold area

I wanna see better titles on these handhelds before I decide to upgrade from my old 3DS. Needs more action/adventure games instead of the usual brain-training, mario sports and pokemon crap

In all honesty, I was expecting Bloodstained to have the same 2D visuals/graphics as Symphony of the Night.

I've always favoured the handheld because it ties in seamlessly into my lifestyle. My PS Vita was actually a birthday gift that my brother bought me a few years ago. While the games for this underrated yet beautiful handheld were somewhat patchy, my general impression was that platformers seemed tailor-made for it. I find it deeply saddening that more wasn't done by Sony to maintain standards to keep the Vita afloat. Part of me was hoping that Bloodstained was gonna be the game to revitalize or provide some kind of lifeline for the Vita My only other option now is to buy a Nintendo Switch. However, I'm having grave doubts about the games that Nintendo produce

It's kinda on a par with setting up a date with the hottest babe in town and then receiving the deflating news that she was just leading you on and never interested from the outset. Massive kick in the balls this one!
In this day and age, one would expect gaming to branch out to cover the entire spectrum but, sadly, it isn't. Not really taking a big step forward ... more like taking a sly step sideways!
Sony are beginning to slip down to Konami's level.

Don't get me wrong, Nintendo do make splendid games but ... they need to create a new or much bigger path leading to Metroidvania-style games. There's way too much emphasis on their boring, brain-training pastimes and cartoony romps designed for minors barely out of their nappies. Come on Nintendo ... pull your goddamn socks up!
