I have marginal preference for orthographic because it's reminiscent of the SotN days and I long for those magcial moments to come around again. Having said that, perspective worked wickedly with Mirror of Fate and so wouldn't be disappointed at all if this projection was employed. It kinda borders on the flip of a coin. Heads or tails, it'd be a win-win situation for me.

Link's Awakening was an absolutely cracking adventure on the Gameboy. Full of action, charm and puzzles. Possibly the finest Gameboy title I've played. It was so addictive that I never wanted it to end. A true classic!

I certainly agree that the sky shouldn't always be red ... that'd be just too oppressive and overbearing. As Purityweirdsoul mentioned, gleaming white light to filter through the stained glass windows would be most welcome to invigorate the mood and senses ... all depending on what rooms/areas Miriam discovers and what beauty or evil lies within them.
What I find intriguing about the Bloodstained sky is the odd mix of black, white and red clouds in the picture. I like to think that even the powerful Mother Nature herself is being influenced by dark, foreboding forces to form such a strange weather system that lingers over the castle and beyond. But what if some of the clouds aren't what they appear to be? ...
Black Clouds - What might appear to be dark clouds could actually be swarms of flesh-eating bugs that can lay waste to people/animals what locusts do to crops. Imagine skeletons/bones randomly dropping from the sky and crashing onto the floor as Miriam explores the castle grounds.
White Clouds - Perhaps white clouds may be huge gatherings of unholy discarnate spirits that will assimilate or freeze anyone who dares to enter their space.
Red Clouds - Blood of the deceased infused with sinful magic producing red rain. Since this rain gets absorbed by the soil and roots, the vegetation develops an insatiable thirst for blood. Who knows what kind of malignant plants and trees may have mutated or evolved as a result? The rain could even tie in with the blood fountain located near to the castle.
What happens if there's a thunderstorm? The discarnate spirits become bluish electric-charged entities that descend from the sky and go in search of wayfarers to electrocute before whisking them back into the sky of doom.
Then there's the frost! The night mist freezes on the castle windows and forms into fractal haunted faces of those who've been recently murdered.

The Babbling Shoggoth is a somewhat disturbing creation. Looks utterly grotesque with its many eyes, numerous mouths, deformed tentacles and enormous blubbery mass ... with headless bodies strewn around. This kind of freaky monster is what I've always envisaged stubbornly blocking a key area in the shadowy depths of the castle in all of its nightmarish splendour. I'd love to see one of these ugly bastards in Bloodstained and what a challenge it'd be to fight it!

Since the castle in Bloodstained is out on its own in a huge expanse of water, what if the castle that you see is just the tip of the iceberg? ...the majority of the giant castle being underwater.

While we're aware (as far as I know) that the Bloodstained sky won't feature as an explorable part of the game, it still has huge potential should it ever materialize in the future. What if there was a section of the castle that allows Miriam to become airborne and discover whatever may exist in the brooding, twilight space. Let's face it, the sky is a helluva arena to showcase some impressive moves and battle some really terrifying monsters. Would there even be small levitating islands that only appear high up in the moonlight during the witching hour? What monsters could you envisage keeping watch over the castle and protecting hidden treasures and sacred weapons? Does the cosmic energy from above harbour a new breed of evil that's preparing to take over the castle?

Some of mine are :-
SotN - Thinking that I'd won the game and feeling elated that I'd played the best game ever but with a streak of disappointment etched in because "it finished" knowing that I'll never play a game as good for a long time. Unexpectedly, the castle then inverted and I was like "OMFG! The greatest bonus in gaming history!" Hairs. Neck. Stand.
SotN - The showdown with Galamoth. I went through the mill trying to kill this bastard. When I did eventually defeat him, I felt as though I'd travelled a thousand light years with a face like a smacked arse.
SotN - The eerie atmosphere that lingers throughout the game. Something about the mist outside the castle walls and the telescope...
CV64 - Peacefully entering and calmly strolling through a lovely garden maze ... completely unaware that a bugger of a Frankenstein wielding a chainsaw with two devil dogs were waiting for me. Peace turns to panic. Panic turns my pants to a darker shade of chocolate when I discover that Frankenstein is actually indestructible.
CV64 - Loving the noises that the female vampires made when they lunged to grab you and the sound of their heels rapidly clopping the floor as they chased you around like a chicken. Comical but creepy.
DoS - The snowy, christmas-card scenery as you make your way towards the castle. There's a sense of wonderment about it as the mysterious Yeti sneaks between the trees in the background.
DoS - Whipping and slashing enemies at The Pinnacle of the castle. The soundtrack is terrific and makes the adventure seem more epic and intense.

An eyeball. Nothing crazy fancy, just.....a friggin' eyeball. No matter what the game or work of fiction, eyeballs or eyeball based monsters always have and always will creep me the fuck out man. Cacodemons from doom, dogether in castlevania rondo of blood and portrait of ruin, that crazy lookin' thing from baldur's gate Mr. I in super mario 64....man these keep me up at night, lmao. Kirby games have plenty of eyeball enemies too. As for Castlevania, "Peeping Eyes" are definitely well-known. Here's a creature I drawed from the dark forest of my mind a couple of weeks ago. It's kinda based on the Peeping Eye/Dogether monsters but I felt the need to add a more horrific, demonic appearance along with tentacles and weapons. I envisage this monster as a massive boss of a wasteland that'd stand like the equivalent of around 40ft tall. The monster details... Weapons :- 1) A huge powerful laser that atomizes organic material and melts metal. 2) Giant forceps with claw-action to seize, maim and crush. 3) Toxin generator that squirts poisonous glue, injects necrotising venom, sprays acid and nerve gas offensive. 4) Surgical tentacles & ovipositor to inseminate, lay eggs, hormone release and deadly spawn. Victims are turned into nightmarish mutations of all kinds. Abilities :- 1) The gigantic median eye has super telescopic vision that can zoom up to anything that is miles away. If you look closely, what appear to be 'nostrils' are actually eyes too. 2) Regeneration and multiplication of tentacles. 3) Huge protuberances from its head/brain utilise two massive crystals to produce energy that charges the creature to levitate and fly silently.

Ya know cecil-kain, maybe you've inadvertently dropped an idea for Bloodstained. I hope someone who's creating the game (maybe the great IGA himself) notices this thread and incorporates the Trick or Treat enactment into Bloodstained. Perhaps a mischievous sprite (like an elf, goblin, witch, etc) could randomly appear in the game to confront Miriam with'Trick or Treat'. Does she trust the little blighter and treat it to something? Will she get a reward of some kind? Would the sprite turn into something nasty and make a full-on attempt to kill her should she refuse its request? Hmmm...

Ya know, I'd love to see fireworks on sale in the shop! Not only could you use them as weapons (especially the rockets), but also as a minute celebration of some nasty foe you've just slain.

My heart is curiously calling for a M but my brain keeps whispering T. Jeez ... I hope that whisper dwindles away! Even so, IGA has a pretty fine knack of getting the balance and mix of gore, violence and nudity (partial) just right in his Castlevania games. If he does go for a T again , then I do wish he'll refine and nudge his knack just a little bit further onto the thin red line that separates the T from M.

My first Castlevania experience was playing The Castlevania Adventure on the Gameboy. While the character Christopher Belmont was a bit sluggish to control, I still felt enchanted by the idea of going through a castle and swatting enemies with a whip. Being chased down stairways by huge eyeballs and slogging it out with crows and mudmen in graveyards had me hooked. OK, it only had four levels and, although it didn't grab me like some of Konami's other GB titles such as Nemesis and Probotector, it always had a place in my heart because I love adventures and fighting all kinds of monsters and creepy things.
I was a bit late buying the SNES console but the first game I purchased for it was Castlevania IV which totally blew me out of the sky ... it was fantastic! Using the whip in eight directions and swinging from it was the pinnacle of the gameplay. It was one of those types of games that I never wanted to come to the end of. So engrossing!
Now, one Castlevania game that I truly adored (though it was often slated by many gamers) was Castlevania 64. I originally bought the Nintendo 64 to play F-Zero X (which was a sublime and shatteringly fast racing game) but I gave Castlevania a try and, again, I was immediately drawn in to the feel of the adventure. The game had a genuinely eerie atmosphere about it and the sound of the whip smashing the bones of skeletons was most satisfying to the ears. The game had its dodgy moments though ... primarily some of the camera angles and falling to my death countless times due to some jumps that required pinpoint accuracy. The highlights of the game was transporting nitro through the castle whilst avoiding nasty vampires, lizardmen, etc and a poo-inducing experience in a maze with Frankenstein wielding a chainsaw and his faithful dogs! Oh and the intro to the game was beautifully haunting ... Malus with the violin still remains one of my all-time favourite pieces of CV music.
My favourite Castlevania games will always be the IGA ones. Symphony of the Night is my number 1 CV because it is a superior, polished platformer that succeeds on so many levels with its attention to detail, fluid gameplay, loads of enemies, items and secrets, the strikingly huge castle and divine soundtracks. It was so addictive that the game should be classed as a drug LOL! Of the DS Castlevanias (Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia), Dawn of Sorrow is the best of the trio in my opinion ... I think it is closer in spirit to Symphony of the Night than PoR and OoE.
Now that Castlevania is seemingly dead, it felt like a small part of my soul went with it.

How about Miriam transforming into some kind of liquid iridescence? ... similar to the T-1000 terminator in terms of ability to squeeze through gaps and bars, expand and shrink, and being able to turn her fluid form into hard crystal daggers, spikes and shards. Could add a different element of combat without looking like a human or animal.

I love a good challenge and the level of difficulty in OoE was near perfect in my opinion. This difficulty, in combination with the massive castle upcoming in Bloodstained, would make for an exceptional gaming experience.

I pass my time by drawing creepy monsters from my imagination. Sometimes I'll transform the drawings/sketches in Photoshop. I also do the odd sculpture too, read ghost books, play a Castlevania game on my Nintendo DS and set off fireworks in between. I love fireworks!
