A hunger system sounds...rather dumb for a game like this. Why not flip the script and allow the consumption of food to create a time limited buff? Eat curry, get 30 seconds of extra damage or something. Assuming something like rotten meat returns, maybe consuming it lowers your HP but gives you x10 attack?

I mean, I think the backer exclusive stuff being available to all users make sense. It seems unfair of those who have not backed the game, be it for economical or timing reasons. Must we expect all Castlevania fans to back it, for example?
You can alleviate this pretty easily, though: make the content a post-launch purchase for people who didn't back the game. Hitman is doing this with its preorder content, the biggest thing being a badass suit. For fans, the suit means a lot, even if it's cosmetic and nothing else.

Personally, don't make the quests lazy, which happened in OoE and PoR.
By lazy, I mean that when you complete an area or do something, only for the game to give you an objective after clearing the area.
"Oh, you beat this area? Well, here's a quest about beating the boss in the arena again. Thanks."
I want none of this.

I felt for a fact this game was not hitting March 2017, and forget the notions this is a new IP. That was a target date for nostalgia, not a genuine release: March 2017 is the 20th anniversary of SotN, and that's the only reason it was pitched in the Kickstarter.
That said, I am surprised it's missing 2017 in full. You would have figured that by E3 they would have a floorplan of when features, systems, ideas, and implementations on how they're going about it and have a timeline available in some capacity. Being able to even showcase the opening location, almost as if it's complete, makes missing 2017 even more surprising to me. The current target date gives the impression something is weird with development, like a huge offshoot of issues, or they've finally hit an "oh shit" moment with having to make the game in full and its promised features. Especially as they've only announced they're aiming for it now. Adding apparently another development team only points in this way, as well...
I mean, consider how one of the goals was a fully-orchestrated soundtrack. We've heard no song yet that shows this. Things like that are going to add up, and I imagine they're now in the phase to really start seeing this.

Welp, she's dead now. I don't know what to think.
Part of me feels the usual sense of guilt of "oh, if I only knew X was the case" or "oh, if we only acted sooner" (she got a kidney infection from her period, which led to her body failing; we assumed it was a stomach bug) but one always acts in the moment based on their lens of perception: not a soul on earth has free will to act differently in any moment, so the guilt is largely unfounded. You cannot change the past because what you did was what you did based on the lens of the moment, so assuming otherwise is assuming too much of what's actually real in this universe. Furthermore, she had more energy until three hours ago where it became obvious she was critically ill.
However, there is a sense of peace I have, and maybe because of my understanding of reality. There's no soul, self, or ego ever added to a sentient being, so there's nothing added that can be taken away, but only emergence and dissipation. One can become aware of how forms such as cats or people dissolve to see how they continue as process, as waves in the ocean of reality, and it's there one can see the never ending twerkability to nature's innate intelligence. The question becomes not "where does she go when she dies" for this assumes the cat is a fixed entity, but "how does the process of the cat go upon death" for one sees the continuity and how in death, it will produce life. There is also peace in me for while she had energy, I let her do what she usually likes to do: jump on my bed, meow at me when I playfully get mad at her for doing that, letting her get under the covers and lay with me and nap. Knowing where I am now, 12 hours later and one cat dead, I see a sense of wisdom, of truly living for present reality, for it's one where one is eternally swimming in.
I'd like to conclude my rambling with a quote I find very apt at present.
“The day my mother died I wrote in my journal, "A serious misfortune of my life has arrived." I suffered for more than one year after the passing away of my mother. But one night, in the highlands of Vietnam, I was sleeping in the hut in my hermitage. I dreamed of my mother. I saw myself sitting with her, and we were having a wonderful talk. She looked young and beautiful, her hair flowing down. It was so pleasant to sit there and talk to her as if she had never died. When I woke up it was about two in the morning, and I felt very strongly that I had never lost my mother. The impression that my mother was still with me was very clear. I understood then that the idea of having lost my mother was just an idea. It was obvious in that moment that my mother is always alive in me.
I opened the door and went outside. The entire hillside was bathed in moonlight. It was a hill covered with tea plants, and my hut was set behind the temple halfway up. Walking slowly in the moonlight through the rows of tea plants, I noticed my mother was still with me. She was the moonlight caressing me as she had done so often, very tender, very sweet... wonderful! Each time my feet touched the earth I knew my mother was there with me. I knew this body was not mine but a living continuation of my mother and my father and my grandparents and great-grandparents. Of all my ancestors. Those feet that I saw as "my" feet were actually "our" feet. Together my mother and I were leaving footprints in the damp soil.
From that moment on, the idea that I had lost my mother no longer existed. All I had to do was look at the palm of my hand, feel the breeze on my face or the earth under my feet to remember that my mother is always with me, available at any time.” - Thich Nhat Hanh

Taking today to calm down, as my weekend was very upsetting for me. Had a breakdown yesterday.
It's also hard to calm down as my cat may be dying, so this is quite a series of events...

A huge chunk of the playerbase is reporting framerate issues and hitching. Totalbiscuit and Jim Sterling both have videos up showing this: even TB, a dedicated PC gamer with a good machine, cant get the game to keep a steady framerate. A lot of people can't get to to run at all, and there are streams documenting the game crashing so often it renders it unplayable. Hmm weird. Mine runs at a constant 60 fps (I'm gonna try and see how it runs uncapped tomorrow). I must be one of the lucky ones (that or people aren't maintaining their rig's).TotalBiscuit has a PC that costs over $1000.... It's an objectively bad port on the platform.

Currently playing Overwatch and No Man's Sky. Not really digging No Man's Sky that much though. It seems NMS is divisive, and worst of all, terrible on PC.

Just found a new video about the Bloodstained demo, this time this guy seems more experienced with the igavanias, he tried ways to speed up the attacks combinig the attack + backdash + attack for example or mid air + landing attack, pretty interesting. According to Jared, you use the analog stick to move? Not the d-pad? I know what 80 of my complaints will be when I play the demo. That's straight up bad design. I thought IGA was playing the caramel map with a stick because he was being a bit lazy.

Shards from Dullahammer!? There's none of that in other e3 videos thus far. Does that means the boss in the demo can also drop shards? It may be a rare drop. So it's up to us backer to replay the demo 100s times. Wait, the demo ended almost immediately after you finished off the boss. So may be we have about 5-6 seconds to equip the shard and try out the skill? Lol Dullahammer's shard appears to be rare, but I doubt they added a shard for Vepar. How would you use it when the bosses death animation doesn't even finish in the demo? I'm sure people will dig in the files to see information in the demo build, so we may learn of Vepar's ability, if it has one.

A small criticism I had with the demo is that when you open chests, the chest opens and there's no item that comes out of it.
I'm sure they've simply not set up a system where the item you get pops up from the chest, but it did seem like a strange omission given the previous games IGA's done where this wasn't the case.
I can't really say much else unless I've played the demo, for the rest would need to be based on experience, not simply visual perceptions.

I like the sounds a lot overall, Yamane's is talented as ever ! Although, on the Japanese video, you can see a clipping on the door at ~1:55 since Miram can't get through. Also, if you look closely at plusplus screen, you can see white blocks on Miriam's face. Basically, I'm not totally satisfied with her face yet. In my opinion, colors aren't perfectly matching yet (a matter of tone I think). It looks a bit pixelised... well, it can be improved a lot but I'm not judging because it's basically a demo and we still have ONE YEAR to go on devlopment and what we can see now could be far away of what we could have soon. I assume the clipping is because they put "blocks" in for the demo. During the caramel map showing of that location, one could enter those rooms. There appears to be two instances of that on the ship, and I am going to imagine they are save rooms. There's no point to save in a demo such as this, so they were locked out. IGA's done that in the past with certain demos of previous Castlevania games.

Fun fact: Vepar is actually a demon from the Ars Goetia. Vepar, according to that lore, is a mermaid, despite male pronouns. In fact, the demon has the power of making storms. Very likely that Vepar is under the power of Gebel to prevent the Minerva from reaching the castle. And here I thought they made a random anime boss...

or have the bonus damage of the kung-fu boots to your kick attack without removing her boots and placing the shoes on visually.... it's possible they just didn't bother implimenting a cosmetic UI yet with so few equipment drops made yet though. I think it's important to point out I'd LIKE to have that option available while it's still early development though! Or it's also possible that you can customize your looks independent from your gear, but requires the whole 'miriam's room' thing to do. I would imagine you can customize the scarf, as it has its own equipment slot IIRC. So, like capes in SotN.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is an action game, that is based on history. Being based on history, stages also based on events which took actually took place in 1700s Europe. So here's this giant enemy mermaid...
Is it the 1700s or the 1800s? :3c
