Thank you for the .webm of the footage Ciel ! I appreciate it and I'm sure others do too. nekurors pointed out a comment Ben Judd made about the demo in the Kickstarter Update 39 comments and I thought it'd be worth sharing/re-posting here. Thanks for highlighting that, Nekurors. "Longer than it has any right being" sounds promising. My guess is this demo might be allow access to the entirety of Galleon Minerva, which they can add to as development continues.

Unless it's a FromSoft dark fantasy game, I can't see how they can keep the game 'hidden'.
I think knowing general things about the game does help the audience, as well as showing off parts of the game to players. I'm sure they'll be careful on what they show off, because they have to show something.
Showing off the earlier stages of the game is probably the safest bet they have. Most of IGA's games have been previewed and showcased in this manner.

Does anybody know what survey is supposed to be answered before the 13th? I backed the game yesterday, and only have a preferred platform survey.
I hope it's not something else, because knowing my luck, I would have backed the game only to not get the demo..

Now it's all the better to hear that this is the biggest budget game for Iga. I automatically assume that Konami provide Iga with bottomless budget when Castlevania was in its prime time. If only this were true... SotN was a side project, and one of the reasons IGA was crazy on asset reuse in his games was because of budgets. One can say this is the first time IGA is liberated from such issues and allowed to really make something with a sizeable budget. Lords of Shadow, to my knowledge, had a larger budget ($10 million) than all of IGA's Castlevania games combined.

Something just dawned on me. Think of the artwork of the castle. There is something unique about it. There's no land around the castle. The castle is essentially an island that exists only surrounded by water. Perhaps we take a boat - the boat in this demo - to the castle. Very much a Legacy of Darkness type of thing. That's exactly what happens. It says so in the update, the ship is taking Miriam to the castle I didn't read the update about the ship, so I think it's cool of the game -- or my intelligence -- that one can figure the ship's relationship to the castle without being told.

well, what if the ship sinks right as you get to the dock and have to leap off, and later on in the game you come across the sunken remains of the ship after things have moved into it? it would give a dynamic element to the map that this thing you were in at the very start has now been transformed into part of the castle and is now much more dangerous Something just dawned on me. I am interested in the area. In fact, didn't the KickStarter infer that the game was set in a castle? Is IGA still keeping his pre-crowdfunded idea by making it a trotting adventure, like Order of Ecclesia was? Also, is there a way to get in on this if you've yet to back the game? I lacked the money to do so last year, but if backing it now would allow me in on this..I'd probably do it. It'd be my best opportunity to play the game, as my future is very much a personal mystery. yes, you still have time to slackerback, cutoff is the 13th, heres the full post from dan E3 DEMO: Coming this month. Everybody backing at $60+ will get the demo, which will be coming out over Steam. So if you backed for a PS4 copy, a Wii U copy, a PC copy on either Steam or GOG—anything—you will get the demo, but it's only being distributing over Steam and it will only run on Windows. BETA: Coming later—no date set in stone yet. Will be distributed in the same way we initially explained in the backer updates during the campaign: Anybody whose $60+ pledge includes a PC copy (on Steam or GOG) will be getting access to the beta. (I believe the key for the beta is set to update to the final copy later on.) SURVEY: If you backed during the campaign, you should have received an e-mail from Fangamer some time in September. That's the survey. The link you received is personalized to you—it's basically your Bloodstained account. So by clicking the link (copy and paste it into your browser window if the link is broken), you can edit or update your survey. If you can't find your survey e-mail, and you're sure you're looking in the e-mail account you had associated with your Kickstarter account during the Bloodstained campaign, e-mail us at orders@fangamer.com with all the information you can give us. (But definitely look first—we've already received hundreds of requests from people, so it might take a few days for us to help you.) DEMO+SURVEY: We're sending the demo to everybody who pledged at $60+ and filled out their survey by June 13. So you have until then to back—if you haven't already—or fill out your survey, if you haven't done that. If you have filled out your survey, you're golden! Enjoy the demo. Hope that clarifies things a little! I guess I was asking if that route still allowed access to the demo.

I think i have a little different opinion here. Although i really liked all the timeline idea of Castlevania, i think Bloodstained could go for a different aproach. I'm talking about a Metaseries (also called "media franchise").What is a metaseries, one may ask? Well, a Metaseries is a really huge franchise that has a lot of subseries. The best example of this is the Metaseries Megami Tensei, from Atlus. The JRPG Metaseries Megami Tensei, has six subseries, as follows: Digital Devil Story series Shin Megami Tensei series Digital Devil Saga series Devil Summoner series Persona series Each subseries is a self-contained timeline and universe, but all of them share the same common elements. On Megami Tensei Metaseries, all games has the protagonist summon creatures (mostly demons, or Personas), but each subseries has a specific storyline. They don't happen at the same universe, but share the same elements. Each subseries has several games. So, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night could be the first of the Metaseries Bloodstained. So, we could have, for instance (i made up everything): Ritual of the Night series: Cursed Alchemist wreacking havoc on humankind. Artificial Life series: Frankeinstein-esque humanoid built long ago by Alchemists, wake up from their his/her slumber to feed on corpses. Alchemist Guild series Alchemist guild prevailed over science and have a global dictactorship controlled by alchemist and demons. And so on. If Bloodstained became a real succes, IGA will NEED more IPs. He can't be a "man of a single franchise" as it was before (i think). But those IPs could be all part of the Metaseries. Would a comparative example be Hidetaka Miyazaki's work at From Software with Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne?

They at the very least have a concept to use for a sequel.
Prior to asking fans, Igarashi pitched Bloodstained as a globe trotting game, trying to appease publishers with the idea of additional areas as DLC. I can totally see them doing this if the series gets a good footing.

Not to try and make anyone feel bad but how is mighty no 9 important to BS' KS? I mean if it was like the first KS success story like FTL, ok.. But it clearly isnt soo... Did inti get founded on the cash given to m9 or something? Also is the bad forum manager that lady who acted like a fan drawing fan art then was revealed to be the gf of somwone and got a free 'in'? I thought she quit or got canned after some drama. I dont follow the game much so I dont really know. To summarize it in one sentence: it gave IGA the perspective to try making a Castlevania-like game through crowdfunding support. In fact, that's what he ended up doing after he failed at being able to get private funding (though half of the funding for the game has come from private hands), as we knew he considered Bloodstained months before the Kickstarter. As a project, though, Mighty No. 9 is quite literally the opposite of this. All promise has turned into poison for that game, and almost the opposite has come from here. I remember I was one of those who was actually concerned Inti was the developer to this, as if it was a red flag.

And it isn't indeed, look: Even they didn't like the trailer. And who the hell thought saying "make guys cry like an anime fan on prom night" was a good idea? They just insulted half (or more) of their fanbase lol. That was an interesting tweet by Aizu. Finger pointing at Deep Silver... I'm sure many fingers will be pointed because of MN9. I'm sure many hopeful eyes will be turned to IGA to make sure the quality we expect will be delivered from Inti. I will be relieved when the publisher is announced for Bloodstained. Wonder when that's gonna happen... In the greatest of video game heel turns, Konami is the publisher to Bloodstained. Konami is Vince McMahon.

I guess this update confirmed they're not limiting themselves to the Ars Goetia?
Does that mean we may get a larger lineup than we thought?

I am down for this. It allows them to hit a target closer to their implied release date and doesn't hold the game back for an eternity, like the disaster we've seen with Mighty No. 9.

I was counting down the days to the release of the game but I have really worried that I hadn't heard anything about platform surveys yet. Now I know why. It's too late now but if they had staggered the release of content and platforms over time (ala the already mentioned Shovel Knight) they would have been golden. Now they've put themselves into a corner and they only way out is to grind through these bugs. You're never too old or too experienced to be learning lessons though. Heck, its clear (to me at least) that a lot of lessons learned with managing/producing MN9 have gone into Bloodstained and will likely make the later game even better. Here's hoping this third delay won't be too long. They tried to pull some spin about that, right? On how the Unreal Engine 3 was not getting updates to help with their problem regarding online. Why are they the only ones to have this problem? It's not even an ambitious task; it sounds like they're making excuses because they're just not familiar with that type of designing when it comes to games. How many Unreal 3 games are coming out nowadays with this many features across so many platforms? Remember how borked the online for the Master Chief Collection was (and that had Microsoft money behind it). Doing online modes in games is hard. Releasing on 41535125 platforms is hard. Granted its their own fault for putting themselves in this situation but I don't doubt they are really trying their best to get this game fucking out there. So a friend of mine when told about this asked an interesting question: How many delays did Mighty No. 9 go thus far? 3 Delays 1) April 2015 > October 2015 2) October 2015 > February 2016 3) February 2016 > "Spring 2016" Though to be fair, nobody should be upset with the first delay - that's when Deep Silver jumped in and massively improved the base package of the game. That and KS game rarely come out on time anyway. It's the 2nd delay and this one that are ballbusters. Using AAA games is kind of a different beast. They're still caught in the Capitalistic "it must launch before the end of the Holidays at all costs" line of shitbrained thinking. AAA games mostly care when they launch, not if they launch well. They're caught in a way of thinking that has produced broken games at launch because the game needs to meet its launch date because that matters more than if the game even works. Mighty No. 9, correct me if I'm wrong, was mostly funded by fans. I think they could accept the game launching with some missing features if it meant the game came out, and the other stuff came later. I don't think people are looking at what's holding up the game and calling it a quintessential piece of the pie. I mean, one of the biggest studios is infamous with this, and how Grand Theft Auto Online was missing a major announced feature well over a year after it launched. If the fans could be fine there, I don't see why they wouldn't here. I think people just want this game to be out so they can move on from the whole experience surrounding this one game.

I wonder how they'd make the castle, which is the biggest of any of IGA's games, genuinely represented as a Classicvania design. Would it have a lives systems? Checkpoints? Continues? Pitfalls?
