Wow he just broke the game wide open...the headless characters towards the end of the video remind me of the glitch in Fallout 3 where occasionally the NPC and enemy characters would spawn as a pile of gibbed remains. They looked as if they had turned inside out! Simultaneous hilarious...and horrifying.

Hahahah, it looks like I am in the minority in this case when it comes to Chain of Memories! Clearly the overwhelmingly positive response from my fellow forum-goers warrants another look at the game when I have the time and inclination.
Ah, but I didn't mean to derail the thread in such a fashion...

adamschwartze1986: I never played the console version myself--although to be fair Chain of Memories was the first and only card-system based game I've ever laid hands on. I will admit I suffer from a little bit of bias--Kingdom Hearts 1 was the first game I bought for my PS2 which was the first console I paid for entirely by myself. There's a little bit of rose-tinted nostalgia going on when it comes to KH1 and 2 because my expectations were so high and they easily met and exceeded them.

The plot got pretty tangled in the second game, so I can excuse the fact that they blundered about in the middle for a little while there. At least it didn't suffer the same fate as one of my all-time favorite series: Dead Space. The first game was handled by one studio and then the sequel only retained some of the original staff..which changed the entire feel and pacing for the sequel. Yes, you're right. I should have said "about face" which is 180 degrees. 360 puts you right back where you started...it's been a long day.

One of the worst games I've ever bought was Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. I wrongly assumed that since I had really enjoyed the first and second games in the series that the portable offering would be just as much fun, albeit on a smaller scale. Up until this point I had enjoyed most of the games I had purchased for my Gameboy Advanced at the time. Once I began to play Chain of Memories however, everything changed. The main thrust ofgameplay--the card mechanics--awful. I understand a developer's need to expand the scope of a game, maybe make a few positive changes in mechanics from a previous iteration...but this complete 360 that Chain of Memories introduced really fell short of the mark.

Ah, Galamoth. What can I say about this memorable boss that already hasn't been said already? Even dual-wielding the rapid-fire Crissaegrim doesn't take him down quickly! 10/10 for highlighting such a memorable boss!

Galamoth: Even though it was stated that he wouldn't appear like this in the game I still thought it was an amusing little tease for the real announcement! Personally I enjoy a little tongue-in-cheek humor--a little comedy to break up a dramatic narrative goes a long way with me. The announcement achieved the desired effect with me though...I'm twice as eager to see the REAL design once the game comes out!

I don't know about anyone else but I thought the backer-exclusive boss tease of IGA himself was pretty awesome. Sword-whip: ✔ Eldritch horror with tentacles and too many eyes: ✔ Cowboy hat: ✔✔

Five points for candle skeleton, since I enjoyed the original GIF so much, and five points for Miriam's quizzical reaction: perfect 10/10.

As a big fan of the X and Zero series of games I'm a-ok with dash jumps and wall jumps <3. A dedicated dash button (like there is a dedicated backdash button) would be great too. I dunno if dash jumps would feel at all out of place in this sort of game (as fun as they are) but I guess its no more weird than lots of the maneuvers you could do in Castlevania-type games (super jumps, air dash, etc.) If there is a flight mode in Bloodstained (spell, item, transformation, whatever) I do hope its fast and/or you can dash in it. I'm not always a fan of how flight modes in games (SOTN included) tend to be kind of slow and you have to spend a lot of down time flying around to those previously unreachable areas. I feel it can slow the pace of the game down more than I'd like. I agree 100% with you Crocodile. As an avid fan of the Megaman X series--I still own my original Megaman X cartridge for the Super Nintendo--pacing is of the utmost import. The flght mechanics for previous Igavania games have really been hit or miss. SOTN's bat was excruciatingly slow for my tastes, but Aria of Sorrow's was much, much quicker. I believe in the early test footage of the game the developers were discussing the pacing and movement for Miriam's walking animation, so I'm sure they are paying close attention to the lessons learned in the past.

The "Child" version of Medusa the witch from Soul Eater wears them--they make a point of mentioning it during this humorous scene.

Well underneath the meat and clothing he really is a skeleton! Hahahah, I could always play a Castevania skeleton who is wandering around looking for a new castle to haunt. His deadliest weapon is his infinite rib bones!

I think it's time I posted my character skeleton:
Name: Constanz Waites
Age: 40 (?)
Height: 5 feet, 9 inches
Weight: 130 lbs.
Appearance: With piercing blue eyes and silver-grey hair Constanz appears much older than he claims to be. However, his body carries the scars of an entire other lifetime lived in certain violence. His body is highly athletic, but the muscles beneath his skin stand out like the tormented roots of old trees. His face carries a distinctive set of scars which cascade down the left side of his features from hairline to jaw. They appear red and vivid as if freshly healed...or never healed correctly in the first place.
Equipment: Constanz possesses a striking and unique grey knee-length coat which bristles with pockets on every conceivable surface of the garment and carries with him an inconceivably large backpack. Whether it is through magical or alchemical means, or merely through an abundance of caution and experience he always seems to have the tools for any situation close at hand. His pants may have been grey at one point in their lifespan, but have been stitched with many colors of thread and patched repeatedly due to excessive wear. His shirt is drab and nondescript and it almost seems as if his entire wardrobe was designed to make him disappear into the crowd and render him as unremarkable as possible. This lends itself well to his vagrant lifestyle as he wanders from one town to the next with seemingly no destination in in mind.
Personality: Constanz is driven largely by curiosity. His keen academic mind seeks to understand all that his senses present to him and he commits himself to his studies with almost maniacal glee. Somewhat imbalanced mentally he is prone to fits of both intense melancholy and seething rage at a moment's notice. He may vacillate from pleasant conversation to the cold and calculated vivisection of a corpse which little to no transition in between. Despite this he does not appear to be confrontational, preferring to avoid combat with the men and women he encounters within the castle walls. Somehow he has survived the monsters of the castle, but when asked falls eerily silent. There will eternally be more to this man than what lies upon the surface.
Reason for Entering the Castle: When the castle appeared Constanz immediately felt drawn to it. Curiosity compels him to plumb it's strange depths, investigate the creatures that lay within it's walls, and catalog the strange encounters with both friend and foe, knowing that the castle will draw many people who live the same transient lifestyle as he. Flying in the face of the dangers he knows must lurk inside the castle he seeks to explore it's every nook and cranny to his own personal sense of satisfaction.

In popular culture there are various depictions of Asmodeus as a snake or relating to a snake. There is a villainous snake from Redwall that shares his name--he's a massive adder. There is also Azmodan from Diablo II who plays the role of one of the major bosses. Depending on his depiction he has some form of the serpent in his nature.

*Flies in on a bald eagle to a background of exploding fireworks, shirtless, while firing a machine gun with either hand while screaming "Death to ISIS!"* Happy 4th of July everyone. Let's all have a safe and sane holiday please? Eat, drink, and be merry, but make sure you've got a designated driver if you plan to go out and take care with fireworks. A day of fun is not worth a lifetime of regret!

7/10 I dig it because it's a robot, but it looks a little thin and spindly to me. On the other hand it does have an arm-blade--literally on the other hand. Kind of reminds me of the compact repair droids used to repair pod-racers from the Star Wars prequels.
