IGA participated on SXSW Gaming at Saturday, March 17th, 2pm-3pm, in Austin, TX. He was interviewd, alongside Mana as translator and answered some questions. Some interesting information was revealed / corrected (such as that the new Demo release date will be revealed at the second update of this month), but, not only that, some new footage of the game was shown. Two topics in particular deserve special discussion:

Vepar was the first boss ever revealed on Bloodstained. When Vepar was seen for the first time, criticism arose about her bright colorful looks and her huge bouncing breasts. At the time, the dev team said her colors would be changed, but her shape had a justification being that Vepar is actually a lure demon, that, at distance, looks like a beautiful woman being drown, to lure sailors to it. Even so ,they decided to change it. Vepar looks WAY more wicked and demonic now, darker and not colorful and it's breasts visibly got smaller and has much less "bounce"effect to them. 1) Vepar's new look has smaller and less "bouncing" breasts. What do you think of that? 2) Did you liked Vepar's darker look? 3) What do you think Vepar's shard will be? The Shards on her body changed from Red ( Trigger?) to Blue ( Effective?) if that's any indication, although Shards colors and enemie's colors doesn't have that link in the game... Lots of things to talk about here. First of all, the FIRST TIME you cook something (and use it, i think) you gain permanent bonuses at Miriam's parameters (you can see that at the "First Time Bonus" that Sunny-Side Up gives Mind+1). You can even increase how much EXP Miriam gains and shorten her MP recovery time. That's a NEAT feature.
Miriam animation while cooking os really cute / kawaii / japanese style and, although i love it, i KNOW some people will make some criticism over this because it is "too kawaii". But that's really interesting. From Miriam's smile at Mana beautiful art, from Miriam's cheerful motion while cooking, we can see more and more of her personality and she seems...quite carefree. And that's great.
1) What do you think of the feature of increasing Miriam's parameters by using a new cooking item for the first time? 2) Miriam's animation while cooking is cute / kawaii japanese style. That kinds gives her a carefree vibe. Do you like that or do you think it doesn't fit due to the game's darker nature? 3) IGA said during the interview that the game will have some subtle signs on where the "natural flow" of it will go and that if you get lost you may overpower yourself a bit by leveling. It seems that alone was a reason to make the game a bit harder than those of the past. Considering that and considering food give permanent bonuses by cooking and using it for the first time, do you believe the game may end up being too easy?
NEW FAMILIAR: BUER
Buer was revealed to be a familiar. In the past, Buer had a Enchant Shard called "CON Booster". Now, that shard's existence is debatable, it will probably be given to some other Demon, since "parameter's enhancing shards" are probably going to be the most common ones for the Enchant Shards. Buer's familar follows Miriam around and must be attacked / kicked in order to attack enemies, that's REALLY funny. Also, Buer has a much detailed look as a Familiar and that alone is proof that the "blueish crystalized look" of Dullahammer Head in the past was a placeholder. 1) Do you believe Buer's old Shard will be fit in some other enemy or is gone for good? 2) IGA said in the past that the game will have a good number of familiars, but it will not be a ton of them, probably to better develop each one. For now, we have 3: Armor (placeholder name, winner at fan voting on Kickstarter), Dullahammer Head and Buer. We have no idea how Armor will behave, Dullahammer Head is a flying one that attacks anything while Buer must be somehow "stimulated" to really do something. How many familiars do you expect, and also, you expect other gimmicks like Buer?

I mostly believe that Effective Shards are, indeed, what Guardian Souls / Blue souls where in Aria / Dawn of Sorrow.
Since almost everything that most Igavania had was covered already. Trigger Shards are Soma's Bullet souls that actually were a substitute to several things, such as Alucard's basic projectiles and Monster vials, Belmont's sub-weapons and basically any kind of "basic attack that is not a equipped weapon". Directional Shards are gimmick stuff to make Bloodstained more unique. Enchant Shards are Enchant souls from Aria / Dawn of sorrow that, in my opinion, always had two functions: offer special effects that would be odd / hard to do for equipment and as a way to create souls (shards) for enemies you have no idea what to do. Familiar Shards are a come back to Familiars, that kinda turned into a mandatory thing after Symphony of the Night. Skill Shards are Bloodstained's version of Ability Souls from Aria / Dawn and those were a substitute to Relics.
Considering all that, all that's left is the barrier / manual booster / manual demon invoke that is not a Summon / Cast / Familiar. And that can be covered by Effective Shards.
Having special attacks like Symphony of the Night is really a mystery. That was teased in the past. And we can't forget about the mysterious "Seventh Ability" that was announced back in 2016, saying that it isn't a demonic ability and no word about it was made yet. The only example of it was Volitc Chain (a reference to Gunvolt) and we don't really know what that will be.
And about the other things i mentioned? No word / opinion on it?

The demo will be a slice of the game, starting from the beginning (most probably Galleon Minerva) until a certain point of the game. That is actually something quite interesting and it has some fun facts that people may not remember it now: AELLO AND OKYUPETE: WHO'S GOING TO BE ON GALLEON MINERVA?
Aello, the harpy demon revealed in 2017, was originally planned to be on Galleon Minerva. So, Aello's concept actually exists since 2016, but they didn't had time to include it on the 2016 Demo. At the promotional (non-playable) videos of E3 2017, you can get a glimpse of the remade Galleon Minerva with ANOTHER Harpy (Okyupete) on it. That begs to question if this new alpha demo will feature Aello or Okyupete on Galleon Minerva. The E3 2017 demo of the Church of Dian Cecht also features Okyupete (that, by the way, has no shard. At least no one was able to get it's shard at the E3 2017 Demo). What happened? The plan to feature Aello on Galleon Minerva got ditched and they put Okyupete instead, or they just put Okyupete in the promotional video because Aello was still not ready? Okyupete seems to fly around and throws feathers, while Aello was described as using "physical and wind attacks". Maybe Aello is a higher-tier demon and they decided to put it later on? EFFECTIVE SHARD: WHAT IT DOES ANYWAYS?
We still have no example of Effective Shard. No demo and no promotional video of any kind had any example of this type of shard yet. Since E3 2016 Demo, we had 7 Trigger Shards (Cerulean Splash, Head Flail, Cast Amy, Summon Gieremund, Spear Throw, Summon Ape, Bloodless's Trigger Shard (not shown yet), 2 Directional shards (Fire Cannon and Bone Thrower), 2 Enchant Shards (CON Boost and Resist Holy), 1 familiar Shard (Dullahammer Head) and even 1 Skill Shard (Double Jump) that was just revealed to exist in 2017, but still no Effective Shard whatsoever. The Alpha Demo may be the first time ever we will get to see an Effective Shard and what command we do to use it.
VEPAR: THIS OLD LOOKS DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE?
After E3 2016 Demo, there was some criticisms around Vepar's design, due to it's bright colors and it's huge breasts. The dev team promised to make changes and that create criticisms of the "other side" claiming that Vepar's design shouldn't change. The last word on this is that Vepar's colors would change to be less bright and "out-of-place" but Vepar's body shape would most probably not be changed, because IGA basically does whatever he thinks it fits better in the game and it's body shape was actually part of it's lore. IGA said that, at distance, sailors may mistake it for a beautiful woman drowing at the sea and so, will rush to rescure her. So, we will see the new Vepar's look in the game now at the Alpha Demo and will confirm if it's colors (and/or it's body shape) changed at all. We will also most probably see Vepar's shard (any guess on what Vepar's Shard will be?)
HOW LARGE IS GALLEON MINERVA?
Galleon Minerva also had some areas with stairs going nowhere (bumping at a wall) and at the same promotional video of E3 2017, we can see some of these areas open. It's interesting to think if Galleon Minerva is actually much bigger than what we got to see in the first, E3 2016 Demo. Not only that, but the galleon also had some areas that couldn't be reached due to being to tall. Maybe we will get Double Jump or something to reach them?
CAST AMY OR SUMMON AMY?
This may mean nothing, but at the E3 2016 Demo, Amy had a shard (that had 1% drop chance, by the way) called "Cast Amy" where you summon an Amy to attack enemies. At the E3 2017 Demo, the dog Gieremund had a shard called "Summon Gieremund" and Ape had a shard called "Summon Ape". All those shards have the same overall idea: summoning a demon to attack enemies. Why Amy's shard uses "Cast" while the other ones uses "Summon"? Maybe "Cast" was the first idea for those kinds of shards and now Amy's shard is called "Summon Amy" or (maybe thinking a bit too much) "Casting" shards and "Summoning" shards are actually two different things somehow? Either way, we will get to see if Amy's shard is still called "Cast" or it is not renamed as Summon or something else.
CLOSING COMMENTS
So, what are your expectations towards the Alpha Demo? What would be the "slice of the game" we will get to see? Galleon Minerva => Village => Entrance? What will be that "ungodly boss?" What do you think about the fun facts stated above? that's all folks!

Wow, that caught me by surprise. I wasn't expecting this at all.
Here's my two cent: THEME OF BLOODSTAINED: ORCHESTRATED VERSION
This, i think, is the sample that is closest to the first version, mostly because most of it's instruments are easily emulated. Even so, when the violin really gets it (around 38 seconds) is when you really hear the difference between the orchestrated version and the old one. It's really beautiful and fitting to the overall theme of the game. VOYAGE OF PROMISE: ORCHESTRATED VERSION
My God, this track is beautiful! It was already great at the common old version, but the orchestra really made it much more beautiful. This song is the most castlevania song in the whole game for me (alongside Luxurious Orverture, i'm dying to hear that one on a Orchestra). I like how you can hear the chords getting suddenly higher (around 1 min 18 seconds) and then they start the violins at a higher pich...it's so freaking awesome. GEARS OF FORTUNE: ORCHESTRATED VERSION
I really loved how you can distinctly hear each instrument here. Again, the violin has the most weight, but you can hear all others. The orchestrated version cemented my opinion, that this track will be used for some kind of clock tower in the game. It just fits in something like this. I can see myself walking around with Miriam in a 3d rendered clock tower, listening to this beautiful song while killing demons. ABOUT THE DEV TEAM EFFORTS and ALPHA DEMO
It's good to know how much effort the dev team is putting on the game, going to the point of making IGA doing conferences on skype at different timezones. That must have been tough, with the flu and all. Ungodly boss at the Alpha demo? That sounds great and i'm dying to know more. ABOUT MANA

I have a feeling that the plan they have for us is to play the main game first, THEN the prequel. I usually try to stick to whatever the dev team had on their plan for us. Like, if playing the main game first, and then the prequel is their plan, the prequel will surely have easter eggs and interesting references to the main game, and i don't believe the main game will hafe such thing.
So, considering that i believe the dev team expects the natural flow to be "main game => prequel", that's what i'm gonna do.
Oh, and the prequel will be played with Zangetsu. Mark my words. (i can be wrong, but that's what i think).

Look forward to more info soon..."Not much else to say. This is some kind of "news" thread, just to make people aware of it. But anyways, comment below if you feel like.
Some other interesting stuff from that: Someone asked if the dub is so "bad" as it was on Symphony of the Night (famous for Richter's awful dub, that became a cult classic). This is the page's answer on that "LOL yeah...uh...no...noo.... The actors were all top tier and they all did AMAZING work...Bloodstained is going to have the best voice acting in the entire genre, period. That said, I'm a fan too like everyone else...so we MAY have intentionally guided one of our actors to get..."nostalgic"... 😉"

Saint GermainNot in my country. My video card died and my brother purchased a new, quite high-end one (Nvidia 4GB 1050ti, not the newest, but capable of running tons of things for some years) and it was cheaper than a XBOX 360 (yes, cheaper than a old generation console). Go figure.

February update is out (see it HERE) it was quite a interesting update, with lots of information and such. And, as always, many questions can be made about everything that was revealed / teased / talked about. Some of the questions below may have been asked before at some other thread. Anyways, let's not waste time and go to those questions already:
ABOUT MUSIC 1) At the $3.750.000 stretch goal, "Orchestrated tracks" was reached. At the time, it was described as "Yamane and Yamada are thrilled to see this goal on the horizon, as it will enable them to have some of their compositions performed and recorded by a live, professional orchestra! These tracks will, of course, end up in the game, not to mention on the soundtrack." Of course, Yamada finished his work after Inticreates departure, but the question still stands. "Some of their compositions" means not ALL the game's tracks will be recorded by a live, professional orchestra. How many songs do you believe will be orchestrated in the game? 50%? Maybe 30% of them? Or more? 2) Still regarding the orchestrated songs, how do you believe will be the overall criteria to choose what songs will be orchestrated? Songs for important parts of the game, such as Voyage of Promise, from Galleon minerva, as proven on the video, for being the first scenaro, or Luxurious Orverture (entrance song) for probably being the first area of Gebel castle? Maybe songs that sounds "better / more classic"? 3) What do you think will happen to the common versions of songs that got orchestrated (such as Voyage of Promise)? They will be in the game as optional pieces or will be gone for good? Or maybe something else? 4) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night had 36 tracks, Portrait of Ruin had 37. Harmony of Despair (XBLA game) had 40. Many Igavania games had a really large selection of songs. How many songs do you expect for Bloodstained? 5) Symphony of the Night is IGA's largest castle, with 1890 rooms (two castles). Bloodstained is promised to have at least 1600+ rooms, and that is without any confirmation if the game will have two castles or something else. Symphony's first castle has a song for each area, but the second castle reused some of the same songs for several areas. Harmony of Dissonance, that also has two castle, reused the same songs of the first castle, to the second one. Do you expect Bloodstained to somehow reuse some of it's area songs? 6) Considering Bloodstained has at least three / four main composers and a lot of freedom was given to them and that each one seems to have it's own method, do you fear the game may end up with too much of a diverse soundtrack? Or do you expect that as a good thing? 7) Considering all the songs revealed until now, how much do you like, or dislike, these songs? Give a score for each of them, using the basic, 0-5 score (0 = terrible, 1 = weak, 2 = regular, 3 = good, 4 = great, 5 = perfect). Here's the songs for a easy copy/paste to score: Theme of Bloodstained (Title Screen): Cursed Orphan (Unknown usage): Voyage of Promise (Galleon Minerva): Vepar's Boss theme: Luxurious Overture (probably Castle Entrance song): Holy Wisdom (Church of Dian Cecht): The Executioners (Boss theme): Theme of Johannes (Johannes alchemy lair / shop): Gears of Fortune (unknown usage): Asian Song (asian area): ABOUT THE NEW DEMO and other things 8) The demo is going to be a game slice, it seems that it will start on galleon level and allowing tyhe player to progress further into the game. Considering that information, what would you like or expect for this new demo? Some possibilities include: A) Following the game as it will be, in a linear path. Starting at Galleon, going for the second area after Galleon and so on, with closed doors and paths until the end of the demo. B) Unrelated slices of the game. A menu where you can select what area you want to play, from some areas of the game, because they aren't really connected on the final product. So you could play, let's say, Galleon (at LV 1) finish it and then go and select some other area, like Forest of Silence at LV 10, with some gear and shards that they "expect" the player to have by that point, and so on. 9) Are you afraid that this new demo may reveal too much of the game and kill some potential spoilers, specifically regarding enemies and areas? Or do you expect it to show things we already saw before? 10) How much do you expect to be in that demo, regarding the final product? 5% of the game? 10%? less? 11) Some enemies in Bloodstained (such as Morte) will not have shards. Do you think Tord will have a Shard? If yes, what shard type could it be and what would do? 12) What kind of voice do you expect David Hayter is doing for Gebel? Something old and deep, like Dracula? Dark and sorrow, like Alucard from SOTN? Maybe something like Snake, his most iconic character, from Metal gear? That's all folks!

mourningxsunYou don't need to listen over the Bloodless fight anymore But yes, a full version would be good. Luxurious Overture only has a full version because that was a leak from 2016 E3 Demo that someone found inside the demo's files.

Wow, i'm one of the first people to post in a update? So rare. Anyways, interesting update. Going to my usual analysis: ABOUT THE MUSIC
I clearly remember Kickstarter's stretch goal ($3.750.000) promising some music from the game being orchestrated. And that's what we have here. I'm glad to see a kickstarter promise being fullfilled. It was never clarified what songs would be orchestrated and how the dev team would choose, since it wouldn't be the whole OST, but i know such information can't be disclosed without spoiling the game. I'm glad to see that Galleon Minerva's song, Voyage of Promise, if one of them. It sounds really great. And it's good ot know the composers alongside Legendary Miss Michiru Yamane. I really like how honest she is with her work, where she bases her compositions over the game's overall tone and scenarios individually. Also, Mister Keisuke Ito saying he composed songs close to midnight for inspiration REALLY shows someone commited to it's work. Last but not the least, Mister Ryusuke Fujioka saying that all composers had the change to write many tracks is a great thing, because it gives the game's OST, a lot of diversity, but still keeping some kind of unified theme. I got the DEMO information from someone that told me how it was revealed over discord, and i like it. Galleon Minerva again, following up to some game slices. I wonder how that will work, in practice. If those game's slices ends up being different parts of the game, not connected among themselves, a menu where you can pick some scenarios to test, with Mirian in a appropriate level and gear, would be a good idea.

The "beta" will be the slices of the game we get that the next update will lay out the details of, for the next playable that is. There may be another. The beta will not be an Early Access thing that many people are picturing because that doesn't really fit the idea/spirit of this game. It will be sectioned parts of the game instead, which I'd rather have myself. I don't want the whole game itself until that's done. Playing an unfinished/early "full" Igavania doesn't really work imo like it does for multiplayer games. There'd be many out there "finishing" the experience and getting incorrect impressions of what the game will be when fully done, and then not going back to play the game again when it's out. Why would I spoil my experience with that vs what the final product is? We all know how important the little things are. Anyway, this is GREAT news and I'm just happy with it in and of itself. However I think Tuxedo Mask told us this, not this Angel Corlux guy, so we may have to treat it as rumor. Don't know if I trust guys with white eye masks. Where you got that information? Discord? From who? I'm a little lost these days, sorry ha

That would surely be a nice feature. Imagine if you are on low Health and Miriam is breathing heavily, or you are poisoned and she is acting out weirdly or the equipment reflects on her graphic. That would be awesome. About updates that the game doesn't look close to being complete, recently it was revealed by the dev team that all the game's weapons (and maybe equipments overall) are finished and locked already. (So, suggestions for new weapons are useless now). EnkeriaA beta next week? I didn't know that

Called by Galamoth , it's my civil duty to answer those questions. Answered in Enchant Shard yellow color. Here goes: 1) Miriam will at some point crying in the game or have tears close to falling, a way to make her more human? I think so. IGA said that Miriam is the most human character he ever created. That may sound bad, but, from what i know about games and animes, Japanese authors aren't very good on creating female characters, so, i really hope that Miriam can break out of this trend to show a more human side for us.2) Goofball appears as a symbol or as a statue in the game. Either in a few rooms (or one room) or in the menu. It has been stated before that they are preparing "something" regarding Goofball (i think) but never stated what. Goofball will not be a familiar, since that would break the backer's poll, but i believe it will make a great cameo. A statue in the game would be awesome. But you know what would be more awesome? If Miriam has a room for her and, among the furniture you can pick up, you could find a Goofball doll / statue or something like that.3) Johannes will be trying to use his whip against Alfred? I believe Johannes and Alfred does have something between them so, yes, why not? I can't see Johannes's whip as just a decoration.;4) Will the levelcap be 255? 255 is a programming number, that's why it was used. I believe it is a safe choice, but i don't really know. That's a hard question.5) Dominique and Zangetsu will be playable characters? Yes. Zangetsu is our Belmont and Dominique is just too hot and stylish for not be in the game as a playable character.6) Before making the final blow against the end boss, you get to decide his (or hers) fate? I prefer if that happened way before the fight against the end boss.7) Modding will be allowed through an external service provided by 505 Games? I don't see why not, although this requires some effort that it will only happen if the game is sucessful enough for that.8) Are there multiple endings in Bloodstained? I'm sure of it. There is really no Igavania without multiple endings.9) Mac & Cheese will give you close to full health, and is the most powerful food for health in the game? Although that could be a good idea, i don't believe that. I think Mac & Cheese will be in the game somehow, will be a GOOD health item, but not the best food in the game, no. 10) The prequel mini-game is about Zangetsu's journey from wherever he is up until the moment Miriam wakes up from her coma? That seems to be the case. THer eis a 10 years gap between Miriam falling into torpor and the start of Miriam's adventure. Why not explore that?11) The castle is shaped by Gebel's subconscious and with no real focus, except the parts for Miriam? I believe the caste, coming from hell itself, has a shape based on humanity as a whole, since it came from the dimension where humans are punished for their sins. So, the castle may try to represent most aspects of humans and their culture.12) Only way to get Swordwhip is to defeat IGA? I think so. Why they would create a boss and a weapon avaliable only to some backers (and maybe DLC) if you can make that weapon avaliable by some other mean?13) At least one room will be pitch black and of need of some kind of lightsource, item, switch or skill to get pass through. Symphony of the Night and Harmony of Dissonance did that (and Super Metroid also did that), so, although this is a bit overused, i don't see why not. Anything that increases the game's length and forces you to go find progression stuff is a must.14) Amiibo for Nintendo Switch will give Miriam an alternative costume, this will result in a DLC feature for the rest of the consoles / PC to get the same costume to make everything fair or perhaps sold in a bundle when it comes to the PS Vita version? Short answer: Yes.15) There will be at least 2 items in the game that you can toggle around with colors to your own liking, similar to the Joseph's Cloak in Symphony of the Night. It could be either armor or some kind of weapon with a glow or intense color. Someone from the dev team let it slip something bigger than that. In a answer at the facebook page, when someone commented about Miriam's Santa Hat, it said that it would be awesome if you could change Miriam's default dress colors and some clothes colors, the official facebook page for the game said something along the lines of "It would be good if the guy who answers this page also love that feature and had already asked for it...right?" My duty is finished.
