As the topic says Harebrained Schemes will be having a kickstarter to create a Battletech game near end of this month. You might not have heard name "Battletech" before. If you haven't then perhaps you've heard of Mechwarrior or Mech Commander - both of these games are spin-offs of Battletech franchise. And if you have no clue what the games in question are either, well... Battletech is a turn based tabletop game in which you have giant robots duke it out. I mean there is an elaborate backstory and long timeline explaining why exactly you have people riding giant metal robots and trying to murder each other but why do you care? There are giant robots! And they are fighting each other! That's all that you need to know! (Actually the backstory is quite interesting too, but there is too much to explain especially since I need to go to sleep soon). As for more technical details (some of which might be lost on you if you don't know the franchise), what was revealed thus far: - The game will be set in 3025. This means time inbetween 3rd and 4th succession wars. It also means no Clans. - Turn based - Open ended campaign with player being a mercenary - There will be salvage and there will be managing mechwarriors - During missions you'll control a 4 mech lance, although at least one interview mentioned possibility of bigger units as a stretch goal - Multiplayer also mentioned as a potential stretch goals, possibly Solaris 7 matches The developer, Harebrained Schemes probably doesn't need introduction. They made Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall/Hong Kong in recent years and I'd say these are a pretty good portolio. Website for the game: battletechgame.com (not much on it at this time except some wallpapers)

They aren't going to sell their IPs. At least not the ones with any amount of success. If it can sell on mobile, they'll keep it. Look forward to Metal Gear Solid: Mobile Ops. Don't forget Metal Gear Solid 6: HIT THE LEVER.

Haha.... I've never looked at Blizzard forums, other than direct links to useful posts. If I go look, will I be able to unsee the horror? *looks at the bottle of brain bleach in his hand* *thinks about his memories of blizz forums* *shudders and goes back to emptying said bottle*

I wonder what's worse, steam forums or gamefaqs boards? ┐(´д`)┌ Add Blizzard forums and you get yourself an unholy trinity.

I didn't pre-order yet.. becuase I'm a cheap %#@%#. I may eventually but I don't see why I should just yet when sales may come about. There will be bigger sales of course... eventually. But I wouldn't expect them anytime soon after the expansion releases. Back when TBoI: Rebirth people were throwing a hissy fit about the pricetag being $15 normal, $10 with pre-order discount (yes, really) and saying they'll wait because "it'll be discounted more, soon" (despite McMillen clearly saying it won't). I don't think I saw the game dropping under that $10 to this day, and I expect the expansion will be the same story. Edit: Why the hell did I look on the steam forums for Rebirth. Of course there are people complaining that the expansion is not worth the money and McMillen is a sellout. FML.

So apparently someone posted on reddit claiming to be a part of Kojima's team and saying they're trying to convince a "big console company" to hire the team and try to buy out MGS series and Fox engine from Konami. Now this being the internet and no proof being provided I'd take this post with huge pinch of salt, but if it turnes out to be true, at least Kojima Productions would survive the whole mess. Wouldn't hold my breath for MGS buyout though even if it's true - can't see that happening since, as Jim Sterling put it, Konami is Konami and Konami is the worst. (Damn shame really, wish at least the engine was off Konami's hands - it seems to be incredibly optimized) Edit: 1000 meters might be a bit much - not sure if I ever even had a clear line of sight that long outside of mother base - but I've seen and sniped enemies from within 250-300 meter range and that's plenty fine.

I'm playing it now. Game of the year. Now, now, let's not say things we can't take back - it's a great game for sure, but this is the year that also saw releases of Bloodborne and Witcher 3. ... ...can't we change it to game triumvirate of the year?

I'm not a part of MGS fanbase. Never played any of the games in the series, didn't feel the draw. Still the internet conspired to bombard me with teasers of MGS5, and I must admit that what I saw of the gameplay caught my interest. So the current plan is to buy it... some where at the end of September when I have money to spare, we'll see how it works out (kind of a bad time for it since another game I'm waiting for comes early October... ah well).
In the meantime I guess I'm going to play through Ground Zeroes at some point... since I got suckered into buying that to try out how I'd fare with a game like that... *sigh*

*cut for lenght* Well, don't take offence from my comment and I criticized who prefer spend mony on a game born only for collect money. Videogame is art, but maybe I'm only a naive dreamer. I guess it's less "offended" and more "annoyed". Annoyed because words like that tend to only stoke the flames of war between various types of gamers which is really frustrating to see. PC Gamers, Console Gamers, heck, even Mobile Gamers although I loathe mobile games myself and wouldn't touch one. We all share one and the same hobby so why the hell do we spend time fighting and belittling one another? It's just stupid, escpecially considering even at current time and age we are an acceptable target for attacks of non-gamers much too often. Myself I spent most of my life with just a PC but I don't intend to let that limit me. If a game interests me I'll use whatever system necessary to play it, and if it comes on multiple ones I'll pick whichever is most convenient. As for graphics - yeah I'll accept console gamers can be as graphics obsessed as pc gamers, but I still maintain the later are more responsible for pushing what is accepted and not in terms of graphics simply because they can squeeze out more. And I think we pushed graphics too far to fast - even current gen PC graphic cards are starting to have trouble keeping up is it a wonder consoles can't, especially if by the time a new one comes out it's hardware is already outdated? Used to be that high-end graphic settings were something of a bragging right, nowdays people seem to have the mindset that anything below ultra or equivalent is subpar (and call me old fashioned but the 2k/4k screens at 120 fps feel like a bit overkill). I think it'd be good if our graphical march slowed down and paced itself a bit but I doubt that's going to happen. Well I'll shut up now, appologies for the derail everyone ^^"

Meanwhile many people wonder why video games are dying... Until the casual gamers (aka "peasants") will continue to waste time and money with these filthy mobile games, the real videogames designed also as artistic products will have a hard life. May God bless us, the last of core gamers. Calling casual and/or console gamers "peasants" is not cool man. As for core gamers - which ones do you mean? The ones with top percentage machins that egged on the push for always cutting edge graphics leading to current trend of AAA games that spend millions on shiny looks, often at cost of gameplay? Or maybe the ones that go apeshit when a promising game with nice pixel art gets some coverage because it's "indie trash" and not an AAA title? Let's stop kidding ourselves - the business model of mobile games is making them more profitable, yes, but we are at least as much to blame here because we are the ones who voted with our wallets and brought on the situation where games can sell millions of copies and still be a commercial failure. Also one other thing to keep in mind - there is no real surprise mobile games in japan brin g a huge profit increase. You have to remember that average japanese gamer is going to be an horrendously overworked salaryman. These people don't have time for personal life, leave alone for non-mobile gaming.

Not quite preorders since none of these is buyable yet but I'm looking forward to FF7 Remake and rumored FF12 Remaster. The former because it was a game that caught my attention when I was younger but I only ever played a little bit of, the later because it's part of Ivalice series and I love those *shakes fist at SEN not releasing PS1Classic version of FFT in Europe* Also eagerly awaiting for Disgaea 5 to drop in Europe in about two months. (Hmmm, I should finish up Disgaea 4 before that...) Yes, yes you do Just do yourself a favor and grab a bigger drive for it straight away. Easier to swap it before using for the first time than bother with backing up the games or redownloading them.

Played Gen 1 (remake), Gen 2 (remake), and Gen 4. Saw enough of Gen 3 not to want to play it. Completed the 1-through-4 'dex. Wanted to get Gen 5 games but getting 3DS hardcopies is kind of hard here in poland and I overshoot my chance of getting those. The games that came after that didn't appeal to me. Favourite one would be Soul Silver - having pokemon follow you is, IMO, much better gimmick than the ones that followed, shame it got discontinued

Hair can change in 10 years though. Maybe the colors are still symbolic. Maybe Johannes was the one associated with red to start with because he was an alchemist the same as the others, and Gebel was the one associated with green because he was the hero. Might not be of any importance to the discussion here but one thing I've seen mentioned plenty times before is that in Japan red is associated with the hero. Make of that what you will.
