I generally hate it when people say a game is a clone or ripoff...but this time I agree, looks like a clone but...but... yessssss... I will want to try this game! Besides, why NOT "clone" a game everyone loves that hasn't been reproduced for over a decade?! I wish the best for this game =)

If you mean Ghalion.. that's me, not that I think I trolled then either, and re-reading the thread, I don't think anyone else was trolling either... and incidentally, my original reply was not antagonistic or anything towards your op, but my personal opinions do not favor 4k anything, but I didn't mention them without insulting my own monitor size and mentioning how close I sit to it because I didn't want to offend hyper-sensitive people who would try to punish me for being evil.
I imagine your 'troll' is someone whose posts have been deleted, and I haven't seen them, but now I'm reluctant to dismiss their position because of how quickly I have been labeled. Not sure why I'm writing this, but given some fairly recent drama on here regarding me personally, I guess I'm just less willing to brush it off.
I don't hate your or blame you or anything Jeff. But the whole accusation mentality I've been seeing online in general is honestly scaring me, and this seems as appropriate as any a place to mention it.

Yes I was, but I don't care now.. I'm VERY interested to know where else I've been trolling to justify such an accusation...

the notition of games making you die only a couple times if you're playing it blind is really scary to me... I like it if a game makes you die a couple times...every 10 minutes or so.
Of course I know my own tastes are practically defunct now.. qq.
I agree about the mindlessly walk past a room 1-shotting every trash enemy you see thing though.. I'd elaborate but doing so apparently upsets some people.

I totally can imagine it in 4k.. because I don't sit close enough to my not huge monitor to be able to see the difference... and my eyesight is good btw =P.

Most of Falcom's games have great music. But uhh.. it was rare? I mean I didn't know anyone who had it granted, but the last time I went to a retro game store, they had like a dozen copies being sold for like 5 bucks only. I would have bought one if I didn't think it owuld make me wanna bust out my nes which is a pain to set up, and is the US version so it has issues like you have to blow the cart, wiggle the cord, manually depress the cart inside the perfect amount cuz the spring doesn't do it anymore, have the game freeze randomly... if you don't know the US NES is a pos compared to the other regions. Even if it was never mistreated (like my own), it ages very very poorly... which is why you see people like AVGN use custom NES things.

I keep forgetting about the pstv thing. I'm not sure which of those games are compatible or not, but yeah, I wish I knew about it because 40 bucks is an even better deal!

Ys HAS a remake of 4.. it's called memories of Celceita.. or something.. spelling off. It's damn good too btw.. Of course most people dont' care cuz they have this religious hatred to the vita and refuse to acknowledge that it has good games. It needs a remake of 5 though. Oh yeah, they kinda remade 6 too.. store.steampowered.com/app/312540/I say kinda because it offers very little over the basic ps2 version (which I own btw, good game but the voice acting is horrible... I wonder if it's better in the steam version).

yeah overlooked is an odd expression for sure. I interpreted it as not over-rated/under-rated like is such a common topic in gaming, but less accusatory towards each consumer, and more of a matter of circumstance as to why it's not given the appreciation we feel it deserves.

I like atmospheric over gore too, but it's nice having 'that one area' with lots of it. kinda like that area in curse of darkness with that legion boss. Plus EROTIC VIOLENCE (I'm sorry, but that just never gets old for me, silliest expression ever lol).

Oh yeah I forgot to mention Faxanadu.. are you aware that Xseed seems to have indication that they are going to localize Xanadu Next soonish...and if you can't wait there's actually a fan translation patch. It's a sequel to Faxanadu, though it's not a side scroller anymore.. it's more like...uhh. It's kinda sorta like Ys but slower with more rpg elements like equipment customization and consumeable use and inventory management and whatnot.
I think I also heard that Falcom is making another Sequel to that game... Also that screenshot lies.. Everything in that game is brown, dark brown, light brown, peach, or tan coloured... EVERYTHING! =P

I hate singling games out, that's why Id idn't suggest one...and frankly I doubt anyone will actually get up and play it anyway. I mean I couldn't even get people interested in that free game thread for goodness sake! How am I to expect someone will actually import a doujin game or register on melonbooks ors omething to buy it and then apply a translation patch or whatnot. Though I suppose someone may just find a download or something.
There's a game I personally like more slightly but many noobs blame the game for requiring a big grind every floor when fact is they are just playing bad, you don't need to grind until the very end for the final boss.
So I'll suggest another game that people have a hard time with but don't blame requiring a grind because fact is the game doesn't actually give you much when you level =P. Genius of Sappheiros, It's supposedly like romancing saga, but I haven't played any of the saga games that weren't on a gameboy, and those don't seem very similar to me eh. I probably SHOULD play them at some point though. Just a bit of advice though, many bosses are quite difficult, and generally require you to find a strategy that counters them effectively. But just going into them with a generic build (you can change your character's builds without going to a town or reloading a save or anything) gets most people whooped really hard really fast on bosses.
Also, the final boss pre-expansion is a monster. Truly the biggest sense of accomplishment I've felt beating a boss since I was a little kid. I was suck on that @%@#% for longer than like the 10th to 3rd hardest bosses ever for me =P... 2nd being Arsenal in Final Fantasy Legends 2 (saga game I know but I don't know the # in the saga series). Easy if you play with gamefaqs and have the 7sword and whatnot, but I was a kid without a guide, and never got the 7 sword or other forms of ultimate gear, and I didn't know how to get a good monster, I just tried feeding it often and would always end up with crap lol.

Gamesindistry.biz just posted an article how Konami's workplace policies are considered normal for Japan. It's lengthy, but it's a good read and goes along with the subject of cultural business practices. I know this is a super late reply but this thread got bumped and I just noticed this. First, I already heard that Japanese businesses can be 'cruel' to their employees. I've heard this before, but can't really attest if true or not via my own personal experience. None of them went QUITE to the same extent as konami, but whatever. However I'm having a hard time believing this gamesindistry.biz article as that being completely ho-hum normal.. why? well why the flying %#@%#@ would a JAPANESE newspaper deem it a headline to write about Konami's scary business practices, and a western article then be like 'we already knew this'... I mean I can understand the other way around, if westerners were going omaigosh, and a japanese article say 'actually, this is normal'.. but the other way around? Makes no sense, and stinks of propaganda IMO.

I'm all for increased difficulty via enemy behavior too. however applying that is alot more work, should a developer not be willing to do that extra work, I was merely pointing out it's very easy to apply the 'lazy' way of difficulty settings. I'm willing to argue why the lazy way is still worthwhile to add into virtually any game, but given your obvious disrespect for my opinions (Telling me I'm wasting everyone's time), there isn't much point.

I'll just say doujin games in general... Indie games is becomming a thing with nearly as much media attention as commercial...and even though Japanese and Western games have equal attention in general, doujin games are practically neglected by the media, which is odd because the doujin game scene in Japan is bigger than the indie game scene here, so much so that they have retail stores dedicated to them selling physical copies and whatnot... If you suggest a doujin game with a translation patch, nobody listens... irks me.

On the bright side you will be able to no doubt get Nintendo's next handheld they have defied logic and are still doing quite well. yeah, but competition is a good thing for the consumers.

Nowdays it's hip to proclaim your love to 2d and express hate to 3d...but I don't feel that way anymore, yet back during the n64 to early ps2, I was one of very FEW who was like.. 'ewww.. 3d' over 2d...so please don't view my opinion as bias fanboyism towards this in any way, because it really isn't. but the 2 3d ps2 castlevanias are among my faves. They had alot of bonus content, a hard mode, were explorable like sotn, had sotn-tier music, etc...
I still can't get into lords of shadow, even though the visuals...they are a thing... the visual fidelity is a marvel.. seriously, on my PS3, LoS looks better than many PS4 games...fidelity wise... but the whole generic mayan jungle or barran desert thing beign 3/4 of the first game really hurts that potential. as for the 2nd, despite my pc being far more powerful than my ps3...somehow my demo of the ps3 made it look better than my full version on the pc, so I wont comment on it. I think the coders for that game were ps3 architecture gurus or something, seriously. Still though, didn't care for those games much.
