A $10 tax for every item of food you pick up in the game. Failure to pay will cause Miriam to become uncontrollably obese to the point where she can hardly move or jump.

Thanks Ghaleon. I'd never heard of Ys and Crosscode games until you mentioned it They certainly have elements of Zelda about them ... though they instantly rekindled memories of an old game called Battle of Olympus that I played years ago on the NES. I'll be keeping these titles in mind once I've finished pondering whether to purchase Metroid: Samus Returns or not

Potentially, this could be a brilliant thread.
Castlevania and Zelda games have always spearheaded my love of gaming. They push nearly all of the buttons on what adventure games should be. My only gripe with Zelda games is that I wished they were darker with much creepier, horrific monsters. While I feel that Castlevania games needed the same scale/vastness of the Zelda adventures.
Therefore, if I could create my own game, it'd be a very dark adventure set on a large island rather than being confined to something like a massive castle. A huge diversity of areas and locations would be key to ensuring that the quest would never, ever go stale in the 'looks' department. From menacing wastelands and freaky farms to macabre forests and spine-chilling ruins. Throw in a load of ghastly gardens, eerie roads, spooky sheds, disturbing buildings, ominous lakes, ugly caves, forbidding graveyards, harrowing hills and an unpredictable sky ... and you'll get my gist. I'd want to make an island so nightmarish in detail to the point of "seriously WTF is this?" the moment you'd set foot on it.
Since monsters are my massive passion, I'd make damn sure that every creature, demon and enemy is properly adapted and suited to their locations to maximize a shit-inducing experience for the gamer. One would obviously need a huge array of weapons and inventory to cope with the impending horrors that would ruin your entire supply of pants.

XombieMike GalamothThanks for the mentions and the jolly gifs It's kinda hard to take in that I'll be half a century old this time next year. Ha! ... it only seems like a flashbulb pop in time that I was getting down to the music back in the 80's and playing Castlevania: The Adventure on the Game Boy. Nevertheless, I still have good health in this old age of youth Salutes!

When I was a kid, I stayed up and watched the 1964 horror film The Masque of the Red Death. I remember being spooked out by the chillingly, queer atmosphere that was consistent throughout. After the film finished, I went to bed wondering if something was waiting for me behind the curtains once I switched the light off. Funnily enough, the story took place in a castle and Bloodstained kinda reminds me of it. So, from what I've seen so far, I'm kinda half expecting an atmosphere in Bloodstained that's rather similar to this sinister film.

Simple really. The object is to make a choice between any two things about Castlevania. Whoever answers the choice has to create one of their own for the next person to challenge. However, you must try to make the choice as difficult as possible. So I'll start things off...
Alucard or Dracula?

Don't you just love polls? My choices are Corrupted Miriam, Magician, Mummy, Succubus, Vampire and Other* For 'Other' I chosen Ballerina. I have visions of Miriam gracefully drifting down the corridors whilst doing beautiful pirouettes in her naughty tutu and kicking butt with killer grand battlements. Yep, I'm shallow!

What about a prolonged death? ... The enemy gets hit, drops his or her weapon and staggers away for 10+ seconds before perishing. Perhaps a beg for mercy could even be employed.

Wishing you all the best @pure Miriam I've been a member of a few forums over the years and, I have to say, this one is the best. The tremendous rapport between the members and moderators is hugely gratifying with a broad streak of respect running through it. We all stick together like army ants! Your posts are some of the best on here and, if there ever was an annual vote for poster of the year, you'd be very high on the shortlist. Your posts are a joy to read and are like a testament to your strength of mind ... which is why you'll beat the depression!

Name: Miriam Doll Type: Electric bomb Quirk: This small walking 'Mini-Me' weapon of Miriam constantly chants "I am a nag" (an anagram of Iga & Mana) as it follows the enemy it is targeted at. It creates a jumping blue arc that zaps the enemy within a certain proximity. Special: On contact, a high-energy explosion with red plumes of flame and a golden brocade severely rocks the enemy.

I'd love to see a much longer, more engrossing version of Misty Forest Road from Order of Ecclesia. This area stirred my imagination and I yearned for something sinister or creepy from the background to make its presence felt. Something like the Slenderman or a hooded entity stalking you between the trees.

Name: Skull 'N' Stocking Type of weapon: Sling Quirk: A screaming skull is shoved down a silk stocking and into the foot area to make the sling. The normal shot just hisses and does average damage. Special: The 'spin to win' shot is created by increasing the duration and speed of the spin. At full tilt, the skull starts to scream. On release, the whole sling flies at great velocity and causes grave damage. Nitro can be added to the skull for a sensational explosion and extra damage.
