I think the purpose of the beta is to find bugs and get feedback from gameplay to see players reaction and what should be changed/implemented, and beta usually keep getting updates very often as things changes. There is no secret, it is just a test version of the game in progress.
About how much content will be playable it's impossible to predict, depend on developers, in my opinion it is not good to show too much before final release, is supposed to test mechanics and stuff, not to spoil plot and the whole game map and enemies.

The animations seems quite good for such an early version, just look how nice is Miriam 3D model. I just felt the time between swings were too short, too many attacks in a short time, anyway i can't wait for more development info.
It is a shame there was no screenshot of the game like that yet, i mean look at that, i want to see the models and background in details, they already looking fantastic.

I would say Gebel is not the really bad guy there, he seems pretty similar to the "Evil Richter" on SOTN, he lost control because the curse. Maybe this first game just end at curing Gebel or before he dies he reveals something important to Miriam, like places and names she can go after to end the curse.
Probably there is a mastermind behind the scenes on all this curse thing and his plans are far higher than we may even think, like conquer the whole world using demonic powers. All this experiments on the people who have the curse seems to be very important, why did they do that to them, what was the true purpose behind it?
I just like to be surprised, let's wait and see the plot twists.

There is no way it will be released by 2016. This date was given thinking on the basic game and some extra stuff, but the kickstarter add tons of extra stuff, so i actually think it may be delayed up to Q4 2017. And i don't want them to rush anyway, so if it takes 1 extra year, so be it!
Also i don't believe the prequel and beta will be released before 2016, probably both will be out by Q2 2016. Until them i would be glad to see screenshots, videos and info about new features that are being implemented, that's enough.

But... i am shy!
Well... My name is Rangel and live in Brazil. I play igavania games since the times of SOTN, played Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Down of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia (all the good ones). Tried the Mirror of Fate demo for 3DS and hated it, i need these RPG elements and weapons/equipments.
I am so proud to be part of this project and can't wait for Bloodstained, i just believe we are pledging for one of the best games for the next several years, probably the best 2D sidescroling for a long time, looking forward to it.

As XombieMike said, it could create a pretty strange contrast, so i am into the team who thinks it is better to use the realtime engine itself. Some CG may be welcome if it is on the opening and endings, but not in the middle of the game everytime you interact with another character.

I don't want to get to that point where to get max level you have to keep killing Golden Golems with 9999 Hp and 9999 Defence just to level up. Balance is important, if I want to kill bats for 32 hours to get from level 95 to 96 shouldn't that be my choice? Well, minimum experience you get from creatures will be at least 1 even if you have Level 10x higher (this happens on SOTN), so you can stay killing bats, but for higher exp from a single enemy yes you are supposed to be killing pretty hard enemies like the Golden Golems.

Getting it for PC (probably), even i having a 3DS.
I just expect it to be longer than No.9 minigame, as i heard it can be beaten in less than 30m. I think we should just use some interesting dialogues and wise use of puzzles and enemies, so we can extend the gameplay without additional work/content since it is supposed to be quite simple.

I see your point, but it is just a matter of balance, if you stay in a room farming for an item, developers are supposed to know it and change experience you gain or need for the next level. I would say the best way should be that the exp needed for the next level is far higher, so if you stay killing the same enemies over and over again and dont advance, you are supposed to soon reach a point where the experience gained from them are useless. It forces you to advance and look for stronger enemies who gives far more exp.
Plus i always like the idea of the experience you receive not being fixed, depends on the difference between your level and monster level, so if you keep killing the same monster you will surpass his level too much, meaning you get less exp than you supposed to get. Just an example: if you are Lv20 and are killing a Lv20 monster, you get 20/20(1) of his experience (or 100%), but if you are Lv 25 you get 20/25(0.8 or 80%) of his exp. Of course the formula should decreasethe exp gained harder, that was just an example.

It may even be possible, but it should require great changes (downgrade), just looking at 3DS screen resolution already would decrease greatly the game quality, not to mention the low CPU, GPU and RAM specs. It may be feasible, but it seems too much work and quality downgrade, Iga wouldn't like to have a downgraded version of the same game on that platform.
The hardware just can't grant quality, that how it is, even if we consider only the New 3DS, still a long way in computational capacity to reach Vita. I have a 3DS, and even if it runs there, i would prefer to get a more detailed PC (or other console) version, there is no point, the low resolution alone will decrease quality.

Actually i don't think the later igavania games are easy, i wouldn't call them hard either, but it seems much more balanced. I mean, i never really expected the first of this genre (SOTN) to be balanced at all, they had a small team and limited time, if you read the interview the ingame character windows is actually a dev menu (pretty straight forward numbers and no background), and the unfinished Underground Garden area. They did it in some rush, so that's why it is unbalanced and easy as you advance.
In the later games i felt it became much more balanced, not easy anymore. It is pretty hard to balance all these weapon and equipment, put they on the right place, considering the equips you already have and the enemies you have to fight in the next rooms, seems quite complex. But i clearly see Iga is refining these elements each new game, so i am not worried about it.

I want to see weather effects outside when you look throught windows, and a lot of optional (useless) content, like tree branches bouncing outside, maybe hiting some windows, wind blowing randomly opening windows. Funny stuff like if weather effect is snow, and you are at a certain spot on the castle, you can see a Yeti walking outside... xD
Random stuff happening, i love it, gives life to the game. I want to enjoy just being able to admire the game background, hoping for beautiful designs. And if possible i would love to see more interaction with the background (not obvious), just for fun, like push a lever to something funny happen and that stuff, hoping for a ton of hidden actions hard to find.
Finally i would like to walk outside of the castle, but not far, i mean some place directly connected to the castle, leading to nearby structures that are part of the castle itself but not joint to it. Like you exit the castle, take a walk into a road with fences on each side (where lies a dense forest), at the end of the road you get to a gate that leads to a structure nearby, like a cemetery, small chapel, old ruins, greenhouse glass structure, etc.

I tested No.9 beta here it only runs with properly FPS at the minimal settings, so... =[

2d anime scenes would contrast too much with the now completely 3D rendered characters and background. Makes more sense use the engine itself or prerendered.
