I guess if I wanted to play SotN on my computer I could stream my Xbone to my PC and play with my Xbone controller. That assuming SotN is 360 compatible, and I think I've tried it, so for me I think this would work.
My TV is my PC monitor though, but I could do this to my laptop.
For you, just get a psx emulator and the rom.

The rom might be an issue, if I cant make it out of my disc. Hmm. And my PsP mini-disc can be played too though, so I have options here. But dunno. Perhaps try to find and download instead. I have no clue if thats OK when you actually own the game. Since Mini Nes came out, The roms in general have been at a grey area. Buying same game over and over again on different platforms is very dull, but in our case. SotN does not exist, as an original on PC. :/ Kickstarter project?!

While I have played the game (own it on PSX (EU version), Saturn (JPN version), I would say I would for sure buy it again on a more modern system.

Technically it isn't legal. In that the rom wasn't ripped personally, as well as the intent. The rom is meant for backup, not to be actively played. But it falls into a kind of grey area.
On topic, I have played SotN since the PSX generation. Not right at release but prior PS2. I've always wanted the Saturn version to be ported or at least have those special assets duplicated for a non-Saturn port. Will never happen but I've always liked the cloaked Richter and martial artist Maria...

Since you already own the game, you can download it from one of the many rom sites, like coolrom? I have no clue how that works, or even if its legal. There is fair/legal use of roms. If you had bought the game and you have proof in some form still laying around (game box/disc/etc), it is considered LEGAL, to download the SPECIFIC rom. Most rom sites mention this and have a disclaimer: "It is illegal to download a rom if you never owned the game". I never suggested piracy, which would be downloading something you never owned or getting something without paying for it... I am under the impression you own the game, right? Then, there is zero harm/issue, in downloading it from there. Unless laws on copyrights changed (again and/or recently)...

Thanks guys. If I know myself right. I probably just play my psp version. It is not like that I have an urge to stream it or record it for a video or something.
Roms are cool and all, but never gotten into that as much. I know a friend told me about it years ago. Never seemed as interesting.
SotN is pretty expensive today, and if I want to buy a version it only sells in a thin diamond case, with a green label by its spine to the front of the cover. A version I do not own. I have the thick eu one.

"Welcome to the new show! Dan Jones tackles games that have been on his backlog for sometime. First up is Castlevania: Symphony of the Night!"
What's so interesting with this is that we all take things for granted when playing as Alucard in Castlevania. Dan comments on things he finds on his way. Reactions by him must have been similar to how I reacted, also coming from only playing Castlevania 1 through 3, and not anything from the Snes or any other platform.
This is his first video, and it is pretty fresh! If you are curious for more, cross fingers he continue to make them!

Personally, I did play SotN and beat the final boss but I never explored the castle entirely because even without any backtracking, the game was too easy. (except Galamoth) Don't get me wrong tough, I think SoTN is an amazing game. (my third favorite CV game) But the lack of difficulty in video games were always a letdown for me. The game had lots of cool weapons with hidden mechanics like the Muramasa ot the Shield Rod but they were almost redundant because they were overpowered.

I know many people who finished the game at 100% and thought that it's the whole game. When I told them about inverted castle their jaws dropped. Well, the fact is that the first castle is already very big. This is one of the most shocking story in gaming history. Imagine the efforts that went into castle(s) design ... Rotn achievement :'biggest castle IGA have created' I wonder if they mean it'll be bigger that 2 sotn castle combined. I hope so; but it makes me think, is there such a thing as a castle too large? Serious question, can too much content ruin the idea? This question can span all aspects of the game. Too many weapons, too many monsters, too many secrets? good question. but let me put it like this: this is the first igavania on consoles in well over two decades. yah. crazy to think most igavanias were on handhelds. this time, iga is given all the funding he could ask for, on his own terms, and not bound by (though clearly influenced by) his past works. this is, for all intents and purposes, an igavania made on igarashis OWN terms, and if all works out, we could have a new ip that might even make konami kick themselves for squandering its golden boys talents on mobile games and pachinko. it'll be too late for redemption... but i know with the success of bloodstained on the horizon, igarashi will have the last laugh.

What I have understood is that IGA-san works at his best when he actually have a deadline so I believe they are constant making a few goals at the office and reaching them as soon as possible.
Overall I think that "enough time" for the developers are the key for a bigger castle. And hopefully some of those cool designs in both for- and backgrounds can be spotted across our journey in Bloodstained too. I really liked the details put into Symphony of the Night, Arias of Sorrow and when it comes to complete backdrops I were stunned by them with Harmony of Dissonance.
SotN took what made Castlevania great, and made it better. With a new IP we could expect anything, and those things that the developers didn't think worked out very well, are the ones that will be replaced in the second IP.
Those that expect an SotN 2 will not get it, the feel and nostalgia will be there, yes, but the story of Dracula and Alucard with Belmont and all other friends are gone. Tributes have been made for a long time in the gaming industry. It is time to move on.

My first playthrough of the game was the PSP revamp it got in 2007 where it was included in Dracula X Chronicles as an extra game. It's one of the reasons why I never really got excited with Robbie Belgrade (sorry OG guys) and feel the voice acting in that version is much better.

I think sotn is a good game at the same time it is overrated You have to keep in mind it got released 1997. It was really revolutionary for that time and seeing as how it holds up and has aged so well even today (bar the original English voice acting) I don't think it's overrated at all. In fact, while by no means the sales are bad, I'd say it's actually an underrated game by the masses. For what it has contributed it deserved at least a little more.

I don't play playstation or xbox so I never got to play SotN and while it doesn't give back to the devs, I don't care since IGA left and the rest of the team probably wouldn't get anything back because Konami is Konami, so yeah emulators!

Currently playing through the psp version of SoTN..while the cheesy voice acting is gone I do enjoy this version better than the PSX one.
