Currently replaying it, 9 hours in and still item hunting. But 200% map and 2 max level familiars, so I'm on my way! Also, does anyone know a faster way to level Alucard? I am farming those Guardians And it is taking forever, the xp drop off after lvl 65 is crazy! Use pentagrams/bat pentagrams to kill that big sword in the chapel, that one with shields and spears. Each shield and spear will give you 1 xp, but after lvl 65~70 every monster will give 1 xp so that doesn't matter. Don't forget the Duplicator.

My favorite mechanic in SOTN was the Muramasa leveling system. The more blood you absorbed with it, the stronger it got. It capped at 999, and its hitbox changed when it got to a certain level. The best part is that it carries over into a newgame if you soft reset. Just find another Muramasa and voilà.
The best way to level it is to spam knives on those dark octopus thingies, while wearing the Blood Cloak(converts damage taken to hearts), and the bloodstone(doubles healing effect of blood).

I know many people who finished the game at 100% and thought that it's the whole game. When I told them about inverted castle their jaws dropped. Well, the fact is that the first castle is already very big. This is one of the most shocking story in gaming history. Imagine the efforts that went into castle(s) design ... Rotn achievement :'biggest castle IGA have created' I wonder if they mean it'll be bigger that 2 sotn castle combined.

Serious question, can too much content ruin the idea? This question can span all aspects of the game. Too many weapons, too many monsters, too many secrets?

goldstorm07 Be Trippin kikumarukike You three seem to want the game and SookyLala has been kind enough to donate a gift code for the game on the Playstation network. If you would like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on Playstation Network please respond to this thread and I will hold a simple contest to determine who wins the code!

I think it's great that SookyLala was kind enough to donate one of the best games of all time! Be Trippin things are looking good for ya.

I played the PlayStation version and I tried to play the PSP version without success (emulator wasn't good enough). I remember reading about the underground garden in Saturn version, but is there more difference?

I remember reading about the underground garden in Saturn version, but is there more difference? Maria Renard as a playable character! I never got to play it myself though. . . Best version is the PSP version. It has all the content of the Japanese version that was taken out of the English version, a better translation, and dual-audio. You can also play as Maria Renard who plays just like her Rondo of Blood counterpart. The PSP version also has a much easier way to keep your Alucard equipments. The Saturn version has two extra zones, and you can play as Maria Renard who has her own exclusive moveset, and they are VERY OP. One of which is a fiery kamehameha, and another which grants you nearly a minute of invincibility. HOWEVER, the Saturn version suffers from longer load times, and slightly less crisp graphics because the pixels are apparently stretched, and there are no English translations. I wouldn't recommend this version, even though it has more content.

Best version is the PSP version. It has all the content of the Japanese version that was taken out of the English version, a better translation, and dual-audio. MOST of the translation is better. Even the introductory scene between Richter and Dracula has been re-translated, even though that didn't need fixing. The rest of the script did need some tweaks to make it less awkward, yes, but not that part.

If I wanted to point to the best translation, I'd point to Akumajou Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku with the English translation patch.

kikumarukike and Be Trippin it's time to decide who's getting the means to digitally download Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the Playstaion Network! All you have to do is roll a six sided dice. Whoever gets higher wins! If you tie, re-roll. If you edit or delete your reply you will be disqualified. I can tell by the security logs. If you don't know how to use the dice in the replies, check out this thread. Or, instead of using the quick reply, use the main reply button to get the dice button and accept the default value. Good luck!
