It was implied originally that it'd be a normal demo first than later on a bigger chunk as a beta. So this is most definitely just a new demo.

crocodile100% with you. This game has already been in developement for quite a while and waiting till literally every piece they promised will make that time take far far longer. In an age of DLC it makes no sense why they wouldn't stagger it. Games stagger things all the time these days. IGAVANIA games never have this much EXTRA content, pack in the modes that an IGA game typically has always had included and then the other things can come later like they should.

purifyweirdshard I think the most frustrating part for me is that a test video done in a short time gets the feel I wanted out of this more than extensive production time has. The enjoyment that comes from an IGAVANIA for me is exploring a very cool castle with good layout and visuals. So when the castle has issues in one or both of those areas it takes a big hit for me. My favorite Vania's were the ones with the best castle design funny enough. It's my only real criticism of the game so far which is a good thing and bad since that aspect is big for me.

I saw the lighting comments from Angel and that's exciting but I have to wait and see it for myself. The things I miss are all the effects and just overall polish it seemed to have. You see the giant window back there? It almost has a fog colored hue all around that gives it a lot of needed atmosphere....the lighting really livens up the location. Compare that to this - It looks like all that polish and extra effects/lighting went out the window for a much more abandoned look which is fine but imo doesn't service the game visually as well as the former. I also love how colorful and more 2d the environments looked originally in the test video - As someone else noted I miss the star enemy as it has a lot of character but I'm hoping that maybe it'll be a UNIQUE familiar. ( that's something im hoping for familiars with personality that aren't from enemies in the game )

garvin 100% one of my concerns. That finding rare weapons and finding rare armor from drops of special enemies has less of a focus due to crafting. There's something cool about fighting a medusa and getting a medusa shield drop that's very specific and already there for you to use. I hope there's a mix of that and the crafting drops and not mainly crafting drops. Still a super cool update. I love the animations on all these enemies, they're on point.

It seemed to me that it was never gonna come early 2018. They haven't even really PROMOTED it yet and by that I mean show off trailers for the game with voice acting. So far it's still been kicking it in kickstarter mode for the most part.

Sorry, the old thread popping back up threw me off. I saw the bump post and it said january ....overlooked the year and decided to comment. It didn't seem like too far of a stretch that someone might be complaining about the shader as I myself have a little bit of an issue with the backgrounds feeling a bit lacking of a special SAUCE.

Pure Miriam I think what's being missed is I'm saying the stretch goals should have focused on improving the main game instead. Orchestrated tracks were a good example of doing that, implementing features that they didn't have enough money to do. Remember when they mentioned that they will have to see if they can implement a transformation system due to budget? Well........Another thing that could be solved if stretch goals focused on the main game. Remember Angel bringing up hair movement and how if they have the time to do it or money it might be done? Well........stretch goals geared to make the main game better would be more exciting than extra modes because to me an IGA game is mainly all about the main story not the extra modes. That's not to say I'm not excited for it but to me they take focus away from the main game. Maybe with less extra modes more time could be spent on improving the look of the main game for isntance. I know when you have multiple modes ahead of you that need to be released you can't really sit around trying to perfect your main game, you have to at some point move onto the next bits otherwise they will come WAY WAY WAY later.

The only thing I care about is the extra difficulty, boss rush, and 2nd character. Mainly because they've always been the extras to the main campaigns of an IGA game. All the other stuff to me were unneeded features that they could have used the money and time in making an even more special campaign. Having said that, I do look forward to those extras coming at a later date so it doesn't hinder the main game.

exile I want to be clear, I'm not saying I want 2D or something. I'm saying when we first saw the game the backgrounds looked more atmospheric. At least in the pics I posted. I don't know if they had to cut back for some reason but I do wish they could get back to that look. Scars Unseeni like it darkened out a bit as well. I think it boils down to making the game have more contrast. The blacks don’t feel black and it makes the world feel very grey. The color should pop and the shadows should be dark. imo. I think added darkness to the parts of the cave make it look better. i still stand by there needing to be more atmosphere like my other post pointed or t tho. At this point the only thing nagging me about the game isn’t the environments so far. Nothing has struck me as OMMMMMGG. Whereas that original pic I posted did.

DengojinI don’t think it’s mere lighting effects. The background and environment detail look better. Like the background in that pic had a purple fog like look to it and the windows had a blurred out vibe. They just look better detailed. Granted lighting could improve but I think what I was stating is different. Pure MiriamYup, you will notice I haven’t complained about layout in a long time. My only fear is there won’t be enough areas that blow me away by their looks. You can have good layout but if there aren’t special looking areas or if a lot of stuff lacks color it won’t matter. You can’t really judge that without the full game tho so.... no sense going crazy lol.

2. I hope there’s a different underground stage. The music doesn’t strike me as a watery type vibe for those types of locations.
3. I honestly am not sure. This is a very different location and feels kinda out of place for the location of the game. Still interesting tho.
4. I don’t really get a Michiru Yamane. I’d say I hope for more traditional but even Sotn has a diverse OST. I think it’s just this one feels more left field to me.
5. You know he answer to this...... he has a katana as a weapon.
6. Something tells me shard. Maybe a stat boosting shard?

I think I'm just becoming down on the whole 2.5d look. I was hopeful and I do think the characters look great and the enemies/bosses. It's just the environments don't pop for me for whatever reason. When you look at the above that's the kind of vibe we would get from the 2D games. The colors just shown through and the details in the environment felt prominent. More than anything when an area was grey it didn't feel as bland for some reason but in 2.5d....when something is grey it just feels so dry and so lifeless. I'm holding out hope there's areas in this game full of color all over like the below, I think the game would benefit greatly from it. I think the other thing is the objects in the background to give it more character feel so minimal. Look at the flag in the background in this. See how massive it feels or the lights in the FAR background. See that slight motion blur look to it? The color? That dark blueish/purpleish foggy hue in the background that makes the background pop more. Compare that background with the one here. The mood/vibe gone, that motion blur look gone, the hue gone....the atmosphere feels less oppressive. The background that felt huge in the prior pic feels small and without atmosphere in the bottom pic. There's something grand and beautiful about the size and look of the prior pic. A lot of the areas we've seen have gone the route of the second one. They feel flat, they feel a bit dead in the background and they feel small when at least in that prior pic it felt grand and moody. Funny enough the above concept video, the very first video for this game actually got the mood and 2D feel that pops right. Look at those windows, look at the beautiful light shining through, and look at the color. I'm nitpicking the crap out of it but it is one of the things where the visuals felt like a big downgrade from that. Where the atmosphere was like HOLY CRAP, and the colors popped, and then everything felt minimized. At this point you probably couldn't change this stuff anyways but I like to be as honest as possible with as small a criticism as possible. If someone listens cool, if not...no biggy. I think that kind of honesty is a good thing though.
I feel like I have to clarify that I'm super pumped for this game even if it sounds like I'm not sometimes.
