I wonder if there will be any intentional glitches. It would be too weird to have a game that can't be exploited for speed runs. I am specifically thinking of enemy placement, taking damage, and screen warping. Or game breakers where you get infinite # of something (item/xp/map%).
I can't wait to see what hidden gems people find. I hope to see lots of speed runs of this game.

Souls as forging materials? Sounds like Dark Souls. =P Or Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, which came out in 2005, a wee bit earlier than Dark Souls Or Last Armageddon, NES, which came out it 1988, a wee bit earlier than Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

It is possible. I personally would love to see some Succubi or Incubi. But as for the vampire dressed in all black, or donning a tuxedo, I find it unlikely. Although, to stay away from Dracula-esque vampires, we could still have traditional vampires from folklore. If so, I am hoping for wholly traditional ones. Maybe even Ambrogio himself could make an appearance. But there is no transformations I know of from Vampires/Dhampirs/Wampirs. The only original folk tale I know of vampire transformation is the Azerbaijanese Xortdan transforming into animals. But back onto the topic of "what would you like to see Miriam transform into?". I like werewolves! Or what about an owl? (Could replace flying bat) Water. (Mist) Again, as far as non-dracula vampires, how about Bloody Carmilla? She's a character/lore source in her own right. And she would definitely fall into that era AND geography! I like it! Carmilla is far enough away from Dracula, but almost equally as infamous. Plus I get my hot female enemy fix! The only problem I have is that most of my preferences seem to try and make a Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust game. But I would prefer that Carmilla to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2's Carmilla.

Well I am still not sure about the plot or history of the game entirely, so this is all speculation. Traditional transformations include Wolf, Bat, Fog. BUT Bloodstained will be the spiritual successor to the Castlevania series, Igarashi did not want to incorporate the public domain character of Dracula into it, feeling it would make the game too close to previous Castlevania titles and did not want to make his new game feel like a "half-baked copy". So I doubt we will see a single vampire. Just because he doesn't want it to seem like a Castlevania rip-off doesn't mean that there won't be vampires. I mean we are dealing with demons, hellspawn, and the like. Who's to say vampires won't show up as a lesser enemy in the game? I would be highly skeptical of one being a boss or even a mini-boss but I could totally see " Lesser" and " Greater" vampires as (semi-)regular/reoccurring enemies in the castle. I would only want remastered games. I can't pick just one though. Arcus Odyssey: Sega Genesis. Action role-playing. So good I have to link it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcus_OdysseyCastlevania SotN: Obviously the best game ever made. Diablo II LoD: Blizzard butchered number III. Dune: The Battle for Arrakis: Sega Genesis: Westwood Studios. RTS based on Dune by Frank Herbert. Faxanadu: NES. Action role-playing game. In my opinion some of the best music/atmosphere/themes I ever saw on the NES! FFVII: (It's happening!) Final Fantasy Tactics: Probably the most time I devoted to one game The Magic of Scheherazade: NES. Action-adventure Role-playing video game. Very difficult, had a weird mix of turn based RPG and top down world exploration/combat like Legend of Zelda Milon's Secret Castle: NES. Action/Puzzle. Anyone remember Hudson!?! Great music. Very fun. Shining Force I & II: Sega Genesis, turn based strategy RPG. Super Metroid: SNES, Action-adventure, platform. The start of metroidvania! Vandal Hearts I & II: Playstation. Great turn based RPGs. Warsong (also known as Langrisser): Sega Genesis, turn based strategy RPG. Wildarms: Playstation. RPG.

I'm calling it now. Gebel isn't the final boss. He's like Richter in SotN, Graham in AoS, or Dario in DoS. One of the game's endings that's the easiest to get is you beating him and that's it, that's the entire game. But then, if you explore thoroughly, you gain the means to work past him, perhaps taking you on a trip to the "other side", into the demon world, outside the castle, into a COMPLETELY alien environment as the true final area of the game. That would be cool. A third variant that causes you to get a bad end when going through the gate if you forget to equip some protective gear (like the talisman in DoS) optional. But it'd be nice to have, ESPECIALLY if you don't get the protective gear automatically (unlike in DoS), and have to explore MORE for it, even after you gain the means to unlock the gate itself. I second this, and came here to write pretty much the same thing. Worst ending: Miriam becomes consumed by the curse and rules the castle. Gebel may or may not be dead. It's now up to Johannes... Bad ending: Miriam kills Gebel. Johannes dies somehow. The castle crumbles, but the ruins remain. Miriam looks at the castle ruins with regret. There may or may not be some foreshadowing about her curse becoming worse. Not-quite-as-bad ending: Miriam kills Gebel. The castle crumbles, but the ruins remain. Johannes lives. There's a scene with Miriam and Johannes looking at the ruins, possibly talking about hunting down monsters that may have survived. Good ending: Miriam frees Gebel from the curse (something about alchemy and some Enochian magic she acquires), and defeats the real final boss (a great evil tied to alchemy and the castle that lurks in another realm). The castle disappears. There's a scene with Miriam, Gebel, and Johannes watching the sun rise. They talk about using alchemy to rebuild and to show the world that it can be used for more than just destruction. www.theosophical.org/publications/1253I believe you will be pretty close to the plot. I think it will involve being reborn or trying to become closer to the divine, or truth.

I'd like to be able to swing a monster at another monster. Also, does anyone remember which games had Excalibur still stuck in the stone, and you could swing it that way? That was hilarious. Aria of Sorrow. Sword in the Stone. You swung a huge boulder. Because you were not the True King of England.

So I doubt we will see a single vampire.
What we are more likely to get are demonic transformations, à la The Lesser Key of Solomon. But we have an equal chance of homunculus, and/or golem transformations, because of the tie-in of alchemy.
It could even be something divine. "the real aim of all the preparation and cumbersome apparatus, was to unite their earthly, mortal soul with that of the Creator, to participate in the divine, to reawaken their spiritual consciousness, and to grasp the secret forces at work behind the natural world."
Or something nightmarish. "the transformation had more to do with the alchemists themselves than with a lump of metal. Turning lead into gold was a symbolic way of describing the true aim of alchemy: the spiritual transformation of the alchemist. If one takes the time to read the alchemical literature, it’s easy to come away feeling absolutely muddled. Strange creatures, impossible landscapes, paradoxes, and downright illogic seem to dominate; the closest thing to any modern is the writings and art of the surrealists, who, ironically, looked to the alchemists for inspiration or interpretation of dreams."
A little off topic but the more I read on alchemy I believe that Bloodstained's plot will revolve around Miriam searching for a way to recreate herself, and become human again.

I think the upside-down castle was awesome BUT with a new game I want a new gimmick? do you guys have any ideas? here's one: the castle brakes into shards and different colors brings you to a whole new castle just as big as the first ie: green: forest strong hold, red: fire or volcanic area, yellow: desert, pink: japan-like landscape, blue: ice or water... etc... Jeff, we already have confirmation on what the next secret castle will be. . . It's Iga's money castle. Mostly bills, but some coins, cheques, gold bar here or there. And the Lord of said Manor will be Bismarck Kappa III. It was all outlined very clearly in black and white. Also the secret castle is monochromatic. GREEN Y'ALL!

If this aspect is done right it will certainly be one of my favourite parts of the game. I am hoping for a crafting compendium that you can fill up as you go. You try random stuff together and see what it makes. Then it is entered into compendium; although why would you need to craft something more than once? Hopefully there is a bit of RNG in crafting and stats can vary. The format should be straight forward. Like "( ) + ( ) = ( )". You would have exponential growth and possibilities for every crafting material you found. Imagine multi-level crafting, where you combine two materials to make a stronger/different material. Turtle Shell + Hammer = ( ) Turtle Shell + Gloves = ( ) Turtle Shell + Fire Sand = Fire Shell Fire Shell + Hammer = ( )

<rant> interesting... i got a completely different vibe. i felt he was watching the $$$. showed his face to look like he cared, but sat back and counted how much ¥ the campaign would make. In almost every other KS i've been a part of, the comment section was actually actively participated in by the group making the game, not some 3rd party 1) responsible for the merchandise 2) who often didn't have the answers and 3) couldn't really influence anything. did we really influence any of the stretch goals? we _maybe_ had a hand in Miriam's PURE costume. The only thing that comes to mind that we directly influenced were the add-ons, but even then it wasn't individual add-ons but add-on tiers. there really wasn't much of a cost savings. which just goes back to the $$$ counting. add-ons made good "business sense" since they'd rake in more moola. I think the KS, itself, was run ok. the achievement system and the stretch goals motivated people to really help spread the word to reach those goals, but something inside of me really doesn't feel like the campaign was _personal_. Granted, it's more personal, than, say, the Shenmue 3 KS currently, where i haven't seen the owner comment at all. especially for the most requested feature (HD remake of Shenmue 1 & 2). Stretch goals 1-4 have been reached, but no further goals have been revealed. At least the BS campaign was relatively quick to update those to keep us engaged. </rant> I was reading out of context, for a second there I thought you meant Iga @_@ Glad I reread the entire page.

Too hard! I mostly want an updated SotN though. . . Classic music with some awesome rock and a choir. Gothic art, tons of ornate and ostentatious decor. Smooth battle flow with button combos for extra attacks or spells. Anime Cutscenes, Vampire Hunter D comes to mind.

Just wanted to get back to this; amazing ideas! Love 'em. I know developers rarely use fans input, but I hope they reconsider because these are grade A ideas. Well hey, at the very least it's something for the "Runic Forging" tier backers to consider. That's always nice. I never even thought of that! Now we just need to corral all the high rollers into this thread.

For me it is all about legendary items. Weapons and armor with long histories. I'm not entirely sure what will and will not make it into the final cut, but here are some weapons I would love to see included. I know a lot of them have been in previous games (but what weapon hasn't?), and I am sorry if I don't know the history behind them all. Axe: Axe of Perun: The axe wielded by the Slavic god of thunder and lightning, Perun. Hammer of Hephaestus: The hammer of the Greek smith-god Hephaestus which was used to make the Greek gods weapons. Daggers: Carnwennan: The dagger of King Arthur in the Welsh Arthurian legends. It is sometimes attributed with the magical power to shroud its user in shadow. Setan Kober: "Devil of the grave". Near its completion when the empu tried to infuse the kris with spiritual power, he was disturbed by a crying demon from the graveyard. As a result, although powerful, the kris had a temperamental evil nature that caused the wielder to be overly ambitious and impatient. Taming Sari: Translated as “flower shield,” Taming Sari was the fabled weapon of the legendary Melakan warrior Hang Tuah. Taming Sari was unique in that it did not have a sheath, as Hang Tuah considered his enemy’s body to be the only appropriate sheath. Hammers/Maces/Flails: Club of Dagda: This magic club was supposed to be able to kill nine men with one blow; but with the handle he could return the slain to life. Mjölnir: Self explanatory. Sharur: "Smasher of thousands". An enchanted talking mace. Not only could Sharur talk, it was also sentient, offering the god advice on powerful enemies, gathering information wherever it could. Polearms/Spears: Amenonuhoko: Shinto's genesis gods Izanagi and Izanami were responsible for creating the first land. To help them do this, they were given a spear decorated with jewels, named Ame-no (heavenly) nu-hoko (jewelled spear). Cronus' Scythe: Cronus castrated his father Uranus using an Adamant sickle given to him by his mother Gaea. Death's Scythe: A large scythe appearing in the hands of the Grim Reaper. This stems mainly from the Christian Biblical belief of death as a "harvester of souls". Gáe Bulg: Fashioned from the bone of a sea monster. When Gae Bulg pierced a man’s body, these barbs would open up, making the spear nearly impossible to remove without killing the victim. Green Dragon Crescent Blade: A giant of a man, Guan Yu asked his blacksmiths to make a polearm that combined the chopping power of a saber with the length of a spear. Believed to weigh as much as 45 kilograms (100 lb), no normal human would have been able to use it effectively. Gungnir: The spear of the god Odin. Made from the wood of the world tree Yggdrasil. Kongō: A trident-shaped staff which emits a bright light in the darkness, and grants wisdom and insight. Lance of Longinus: The lance that pierced the side of Jesus as he hung on the cross. Ranged: Gandiva: The divine bow was said to be able to defeat 10,000 warriors at once and was only held in the hands of heroes. Ichaival: A bow possessed by Odin. Another source said it was came from Ydalir, the home of the god Ullr. It possessed the power of each pull of just one arrow, it will release ten arrows. Shields: Aegis: Perseus used this shield to look at Medusa's reflection so he wouldn't be turned to stone. After killing Medusa, Perseus returned the shield and Medusa's head to Athena, who fastened it to the shield so that any of her enemies would be turned to stone. Priwen: The shield of King Arthur. Staves: Caduceus: The staff carried by Hermes or Mercury. Rod of Asclepius: A serpent-entwined rod wielded by the Greek god Asclepius, a deity associated with healing and medicine. (Could be used to heal) Ruyi Jingu Bang: Magical staff wielded by the immortal monkey Sun Wukong. Swords: Claidheamh Soluis: "Sword of Light". Durendal: The sword is said to contain within its golden hilt one tooth of Saint Peter, blood of Saint Basil, hair of Saint Denis, and a piece of the raiment of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and to be the sharpest sword in all existence. Dyrnwyn: "When drawn by a worthy or well-born man, the entire blade would blaze with fire." Excalibur: Everyone knows this sword. Fragarach: Known as 'The Answerer' or 'The Retaliator', was the sword of Manannan mac Lir and later, Lugh Lamfada. It was said to place the wind at the user's command and could cut through any shield or wall, and had a piercing wound from which no man could recover. Gan Jiang and Mo Ye: A pair of swords forged with human qi. Gram: The sword that Sigurd used to kill the dragon Fafnir. Harpe: The sword used by Perseus to decapitate Medusa. Hrunting: Beowulf’s sword. Joyeuse: Some legends claim Joyeuse was forged to contain the Lance of Longinus within its pommel. "by his side hung Joyeuse, and never was there a sword to match it; its colour changed thirty times a day." Kladenets: Russian - "self-swinging sword". A magic sword in numerous Russian fairytales Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi: Found in the body of an eight-headed serpent killed by the god of storms and seas. It’s part of the Imperial Regalia of Japan, icons of the ancient imperial family’s descent from the sun goddess––the symbols of their divine right to rule. Masamune: In contrast to Muramasa’s cursed swords are the blades of legendary priest and swordsmith Masamune. Legend has it that Masamune and Muramasa held a competition to decide the superior smith by placing their blades in a stream. While Muramasa’s cut everything it touched, Masamune’s refused to cut anything undeserving, even the air. Muramasa: Imbued with a bloodthirsty spirit that—if not sated with battle—would drive the wielder to murder or suicide. Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegār: "The witch mother of a hideous horned demon called Fulad-zereh used a charm to make his body invulnerable to all weapons except this specific sword. Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegār originally belonged to King Solomon, and was carefully guarded by Fulad-zereh, not only because it was a valuable weapon, and indeed the only weapon that could harm the demon, but also because wearing it was a charm against magic. A wound inflicted by this sword could only be treated by a special potion made from a number of ingredients, including Fulad-zereh's brains." (I think it fits with the game's theme) Skofnung: Renowned for supernatural sharpness and hardness, as well as for being imbued with the spirits of the king's 12 faithful berserker bodyguards. Tyrfing: "The dwarves made the sword, and it shone and gleamed like fire. However, in revenge they cursed it so that it would kill a man every time it was drawn and that it would be the cause of three great evils." Some ideas based on some of those: Axe of Perun: Thrown weapon that returns to the user's current position (unlike the Holy Cross). Lightning element. Special input (costs MP): Throw faster and deal more damage. A crack of thunder is heard when special input is used. Hammer of Hephaestus: Large overhead hammer. Fire element (maybe). Enemies occasionally drop extra crafting materials. Special input (costs MP): Swing faster and release a small burst of flame when striking. The flame deals fire damage in a small area. Carnwennan: Dagger. Holy element. Special input (costs MP): Shroud the user in shadow while teleporting them forward a short distance, dealing low damage to any enemies you pass through. Setan Kober: Dagger. Dark element. High ATK compared to other weapons of similar "level", but lowers DEF. Special input (costs MP): Normal attack, but inceases ATK and SPD for a short time while decreasing DEF. A red aura is present when this effect is active. Taming Sari: Dagger. Low chance (5%?) of ignoring damage when being hit. Special input (costs MP): Throw the dagger at an enemy. It returns to the user after striking. Club of Dagda: Mace. Earth or Holy element. 25% Chance of crit on hit. Low chance to revive wielder on death (5-10%)Special input (costs MP): Normal attack, restore a small amount of health to the user. Sharur: Mace. Increases INT. Can be used as a familiar OR a weapon, but not both at the same time. Special input (costs a large amount of MP): Summon a large winged lion that will attack enemies for three seconds, attacking once per second. As a familiar: Appears as a small flying winged lion that swipes at enemies. Provides a passive boost to INT. Cronus' Scythe: A sickle made of stone. Earth element (maybe). Special input (costs a large amount of MP): Slows down time for five seconds. Does not work on some enemies. Green Dragon Crescent Blade: Spear (polearm). High ATK, but attacks slowly. Special input (costs a medium amount of MP): Attacks faster, and has extended range. An image of Guan Yu appears alongside Miriam when she uses this attack, and Guan Yu attacks at the same time she does. His spear looks identical to this one but is larger in size (just as he is larger than Miriam), which accounts for the extended range. This is treated as one attack, so enemies cannot be hit by both blades during the special input attack. Ruyi Jingu Bang: Spear (no pointy end). Hits twice in a straight line and has long reach. It takes slightly longer to attack than most spears. The weapon grows when you attack, hitting once while reaching half length, pausing very briefly, then extending for the second hit past that range. Special input (costs MP): Attack faster and increase range. Hits three times during this attack, extending twice, with the max range being 1.5x the normal range. Gandiva: Bow. Fires glowing arrows that pierce through foes. Special input (costs MP): After a short pause, fires a giant glowing arrow that pierces through foes. Ichaival: Bow. Fires multiple low ATK arrows with each attack. Special input (costs a medium amount of MP): Fires a stream of low ATK arrows. You may move while using this. Aegis: Shield. Immune to petrification. Special input (costs MP): Petrify enemies in front of the user (medium distance). Does no damage, and does not work on some enemies. Caduceus: Staff. Gold drops are occasionally increased (not listed in description). Special input (costs a low amount of MP): Fires a damaging ray that may put enemies to sleep. Sleep lasts a short while and is cancelled if damage is taken. Sleep does not work on some enemies. Rod of Asclepius: Staff. Deals 1 DMG if used to attack. Special input (costs MP): Heal the user and purge harmful status effects. Dyrnwyn: Sword. Fire element. Special input (costs MP): Release a burst of fire when attacking. Fragarach: Sword. Wind element. Special input (costs MP): Fire a burst of wind that cuts through enemies and passes through walls and barriers. Gan Jiang/ Mo Ye: Sword. Two swords with mediocre stats that receive a great boost in performance when paired together. Special input (costs MP): Gian Jiang: Fires a screaming head (dark element). Mo Ye: Release a short burst of fire when attacking (a woman's scream is heard when using this). Both swords equipped: Fire three screaming skulls and a burst of flame (flame burst is short range, skulls go diagonal up, straight, and diagonal down and are medium to long range, dealing dark damage). Kladenets: Sword. Releases a spray of blood from certain enemies. Special input (costs MP): Miriam releases the sword and it swings itself thrice at enemies in close range, hitting three times max. A serpent's hiss is heard when using this. Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi: Sword. Wind element. Releases a blade of wind with every attack that travels a short distance while the sword is swung, giving this weapon range comparable to most spear weapons. Special input (costs MP, variable cost): Hold to charge, release to swing weapon. Cannot move while charging. Number of hits and range increases with time charged, though sword is only swung once. Will flash and chime when charged to max. Hits once, twice, thrice, or four times depending on charge, with the fourth hit doing 1.5x DMG. Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegār: Sword. High ATK. Increases elemental DEF. Pierces guard skills (sorry Final Guard ;P). Special input (costs a large amount of MP): Fires a green shockwave that travels along the ground for a short to medium distance. NOTE: Is overpowered, and is hard to obtain, requiring several rare crafting materials. Very late game item. Skofnung: Sword. Drains the wielder's MP over time if the wielder is female. High ATK. Special input (costs a medium amount of MP): Summons a random berserker that roars and attacks twice. Berserkers come in four varities, each with a different weapon and attack pattern. NOTE: "According to Eid of Ás in chapter 57 of the Laxdœla saga, the sword is not to be drawn in the presence of women". Just wanted to get back to this; amazing ideas! Love 'em. I know developers rarely use fans input, but I hope they reconsider because these are grade A ideas.

Cale every time I think I have a weapon you don't have on the list ... it's there. the only one I can find is the singing sword of Prince Valiant, also the arrows of cupid, and the bow of Artemis... it is so hard to find something you do not have on the list lol Thanks lol, I know a few more, but those are the ones I would like to see. And as for stuff like the Fire Whip, ya all whips from CV games are awesome, I am generally looking for weapons that appear outside of games though.
