the first cv took all the old universal horror monsters (plus grim and medusa) and dumped them into a single place, if the mummy and franky had been the final bosses and dracula had been the second half to the vampire bat fight, then theyy probably wouldve gone on to be the big bad/left hand of the series, it really wasnt till rondo that he had any personality beyond grah, bad guy do bad things, fireball teleport fireball final form dead, all of his personality and badassedry came from outside the games, in game he was just a really really hard final boss
once you got to rondo and sotn, thats where he started to become fleshed out and his story takes a slight departure, from being the badguy cause the game needs one to being this guy whos really pissed off at the world cause they roasted his girlfriend (probably wasnt the nicest guy before that but i doubt he wouldve become more than a local nuisance), even though in a very roundabout way it hearkens back to bram stokers version where vlad becomes a vampire after losing his wife and cursing god for it (even though loi later used that exact reason as to why dracula exists in the first place, albeit a bit more drawn out storywise), most of the other games since sotn he doesnt show until the final 10 minutes of the game, but he does take the time to taunt you and have the i will return speech, but this lack of screentime keeps him relegated to the endgame boogeyman, everybody wants to bring him back cause reasons, he shows up and dies instantly, destroy castle roll credits
aos/dos, while for the most part not actually featuring dracula unless some specific things happen which play back into the previous reasons for dracula being pissed at the world and wanting to watch it burn, does serve to flesh out dracula and give him a personality that is pretty admirable, and make the twist of that series rather human
then you get los, which takes a gravelly mouthed belmont on a vengeance quest to kill things and take their shit because he wants the power to bring back his dead wife, and thats pretty much the extent of his personality, he just stays this angry death machine throughout the whole game, regardless of what happens, and then he magically becomes dracula for reasons you dont even get to see unless you buy the dlc (goddamn you los forgotten one, i hate your aoe happy ass so fucking much _|_|_ \>o</ _|_|_) and satan is the new big bad cause reasons, and then mof/los2 happens, and i havent finished alucards section yet and i got fed up with los2 like an hour in cause the stealth section SUCKS
so i think having the main badguy be known to the player and have a connection to the main character from the beginning of the game is a good thing, he wont have the pitfall of being a preexisting character like dracula did, hell have the whole game to show his personality instead of being confined to the final minutes, and the castle being a reflection of his will means Igas team will have plenty of chances to work in different facets of that personality throughout the game, all the way from his pure desire to keep miriam safe from harm to his rage at the world for doing this to him, to his sadness at what he probably feels is the betrayal of the 2 people he trusted who are now coming after him

Having observed these demons again, I think there's too much emphasis on birds, horses and lions for my liking. Some of the creatures look rather tame or appear to lack a scary edge. The ones that do appeal to me the most are Amy, Astaroth, Bael, Botis, Bune, Dantalion and Vassago. ok, the guy humping the rat was not my idea, stupid artistic license, i much prefer the one of the girl riding the dragon >3> >P

actually, there could be an interesting halfway point to that, i like that death is a setback in igas games, but i dislike that it kicks you all the way back to the title screen when you die, perhaps death could set you back like normal but instead you get a zeldaesque option on the game over screen to continue on or quit, if you continue you reload your last save point and continue, if you quit you go to title which allows you to load any save you have
i hope iga gets creative with enemy/player deaths, and given some of the flair he and his teams have added to damage and death frames in the past i cant wait to see what they come up with ^_^

im sure therell be a glass/bumpmap test eventually for the tattoo, i have the feeling they havent gotten to that part of the shader/textures is why it looks painted on, along with her tiara crystals being plasticy and the lack of any glassy textures in the test room, so give it time ^_^

i said this in the ui topic a while back, im all for a dual equipment setup like dos (i find the ooe method to be a bit clunky though, not sure if its the 3 sets cause i constantly select the wrong one when changing or the fact that its a button combo so i have to stop what im doing to cycle through them and try to remember which ones which, dos i hit a button and its done), i think hotkeying usables though has the potential to destroy the challenge of the game through spam strats so that option would need to be under a LOT of scrutiny to avoid that if its going to be implemented

Cute idle anims that randomly pop up in response to the environment would be really neat, like shivering and rubbing her hands against her arms or blowing into them, or fanning herself in a hot area, maybe even coughing and patting her clothes off in dusty or sandy areas, stuff like that

I very much did notice that she's more well endowed. Compare this new artwork to her initial design: i like it either way, and different art showed different levels of bustiness, and yeah, gaijin goomba says it pretty well in multiple videos it could also serve to pull her mantle further away from her torso and give it more sway, or allow them to show off the curse easier with its current placement without having to turn her body as far as you would need to if she was less busty or the curse was up near her clavicle like it is in the illustration,youd need maybe a 60-75 degree turn toward the screen to see the curse when shes idling right in the illustration, where you could probably accomplish that with a 30-45 degree turn with the current model, or it could be to help distinguish her more from shanoa in silhouette, idk

squees ^_^ so pretty, i like where this shader is going, i do agree they need to do a stained glass effect test on the curse and the crystals lack that glassy look, but i dont think theyve gotten that far yet it has a very painted look and the colors are pretty, looks like theyve been working on lighting and cel shading which is good, maybe the next room pics will show a better sense of depth and shadow while maintaining that hand drawn look, the ruffles are perfect \^_^/, still curious how the shoulder piece looks in the back the hair im torn on, i really like it and it looks really good and has this crayony stippled edge effect which is very unique and it may end up blending very well when the model is normal size on screen, at the same time im also curious what it would look like with a more ink brush look with those colors (similar to some ukiyo-e like this ), but i think any fine strand detail and color/highlight gradation would be lost or muddied when the model is normal size

bloodstainedfanforums.com/thread/758/stance-on-nuditybunch of good stuff in here, but an interesting point came up with streaming/younger gamers, and i think this is a good way to keep any edits both inhouse during production and minimize the effort to implement it if needed actually, just thought of a way to do that fairly easily, have an alpha flag on the coverup objects so when you set pg it shows up, dont have to make 2 different versions and youre less likely to end up with odd censoring since itll have been built at the time the model was made and not hastily slapped on like snes era editing crocodile i dont think it will, and my personal opinion is it should never matter and people need to get over their hangups about nudity and dissociate it from sex, but thats not happening anytime soon, im mainly offering a suggestion that would keep such editing if it was ever necessary out of the localization phase where most censoring usually takes place and in the design phase when the actual artist is working on the model to help preserve their control over what is done to it

lightsabers are extremely dangerous because they have no weight, and with the exception of force activated sabers (basically an internal switch) anyone can 'use' one, a force users heightened senses allow them to be more aware of the moving burny stick of death theyre swinging around (and with actual training they are walking death), but with training a non forcie can use a lightsaber with skill, its just extremely difficult for them nooooo, he cant be dead ;_;
