I think topic is silly. I expect when the game is released i'll be far more concerned with where her feet are going to land after a jump, or if the tip of her sword/whip hit an enemy than whether or not her cup size is appropriate.

The environments though are definitely the bigger concern as they account for the vast majority of screen real estate. This certainly is a step in the right direction and I'm very happy to see them taking out feedback so seriously!

I definitely prefer Shader 1 overall. I think the hatched shadows in shader 2 are interesting though, my concerns with both however are the same... All the detail in the shader is lost when zoomed out to game view. You're going to be spending most if not all your time looking at the game from the games camera view, so I don't understand why these shaders seem to focus on what Miriam looks like close up.
I hope the level of detail in the modeling is improved as well. It's so low poly it's hard to believe it's being made for the current gen platforms.

I was going to make a new post about this, but this one seems perfectly suited... WhisperingId and myself are going to append our names with a "KSCS" tag to signify our involvement with the Kickstarter comment section hype train! We and many others worked very hard to help promote and complete the backer achievements as well as champion the game through the KS comments. We had an audience of over 60,000 but were unable to get a credits clan of our own. This is our compromise and anyone is welcome to join us! The ideas is to add "KSCS" at the end of your name string, with empty spaces in-between. I.e. Thomas KSCS WhisperingId KSCS Xombie Mike KSCS Dangamer KSCS [/quote]
I thought there was a character limit though? Just seems like it would be too long if I'm not mistaken. Depends on the original name and the spaces I guess. Yeah obviously you need at least 4 extra characters =) It would be cool though to see all the people with the tag as the credits scroll!

Yeah! I haven't submitted my survey yet, i'm totally in! KSCS works for me unless there's a better option out there. So for example something like this: "KSCS - Thomas" or "KSCS: Thomas" I was thinking maybe tagging at the end, that way it's easier to spot an individual in the credits WhisperingId -KSCS i was also thinking maybe adding spaces between the name and the tag to take up all available space for a given credit entry, that way, assuming anyone else that wants to tag, the tags would all line up (further assuming the devs use a monospace font, though i guess given the style of the game, this may not be something to rely on) Given the length of my handle, i'm limited in my tagging options every space counts. sorry WhisperingId i did not mean to upset you on KS, iam michael h. I know a few people wanted a comment clans since we really got along together and it would have been cool to have a group for that. I dunno i went with Cat o' nine tails since it was the first whip clan but i would like to see everything each clan unlocks in game so we can all get a better idea who to go with. no biggie. i've had time to calm down about all of this. my apologies for being a little hot headed. That sounds like a plan to me. We may be the only ones to participate, but I'm still proud of our involvement so I'm in =) maybe we should make a new post with the details of the plan and a summary of why we're doing it. Just to give a fresh heads up for anyone that might be interested... This thread is a bit convoluted.

I'm pretty sure there is already a topic about this somewhere on the forums, but I'm too lazy to look for it. Here's the bottom line, you are mixing opinion with fact.
You ask the question "what is 2.5D". By definition 2.5D refers to a game that is rendered in 3D but is confined to 2D gameplay. Now in reality that can mean a lot of things including how the camera is oriented and the scene is displayed (orthographic vs perspective) to how the art style is implemented (hand drawn vs modeled/textured).
What you seem to really be asking is which do people prefer, hand drawn pixel art rendered orthographically or 3D art rendered in perspective. Neither of these have anything to do with gameplay.
My personal opinion is that good art needs to accompany good design and that both styles have merit. There are a lot of newer 3D sidescrollers that have fantastic art and animation that can easily stand with the classics. Just look at Ori and the Blind Forest for example.

What if someone were to set up a Kickstarter to fund the start up and production of a bloodstained podcast?
A community effort, run by the fans for the fans. Completely voluntary and with a goal reasonable enough to be feasible.

I love that the new character fills the gap of time between the arrival of the demons and Miriam's awakening. That's a nice strong chunk of time to generate some interesting plot and background bits from!

Link to the UpdateAugust Update: PAX, Surveys, and Samurai The strange thing about Kickstarter campaigns is that they usually end right as things get interesting—when the game goes into development and the fans start building elaborate theories based on what they know about the story. There's a reason for that, of course; the end of the Kickstarter campaign is the signal for IGA and the developers to well and truly bury themselves in work, and for those of us on the campaign side it means it's time to get the merchandise designed and produced—not to mention to mentally prepare ourselves for shipping thousands of packages. But it's still weird. So it's been great to see all the continued activity on the Bloodstained Forums. The devs are excited about making Bloodstained, and we're excited about playing it, and we're glad you are, too. Here's a little of what we've got planned to keep things moving on our end: If you just happened to be making plans to be in Seattle later this month, I have some good news: We'll be running a PAX Prime panel Saturday, August 29 at the Hydra Theater. Koji Igarashi, Takuya Aizu of Inti Creates, Ben Judd, and Dan Moore of Fangamer (wait, that's me) will sit down to talk about Bloodstained, Kickstarter, the fans (wait, that's you), and more. We'll also be turning the tables on Ben and making him and IGA unlock a series of achievements to earn a bonus for you—but I've already said too much. If you're not going to be at PAX, you'll be able to watch the panel live online. (Address to follow.) You'll also be able to ask questions in this forum topic—we'll pick some for IGA to answer during the panel. We've been working overtime to get the survey—and with it the slacker backer campaign—ready to go, and it's getting close. Submitted by @doktorspooky Submitted by Anders 斬月 — Zangetsu — 42 — MaleComing from a small country far away in the East, Zangetsu specializes in fighting demons. He makes his way to England when the demons first show up 10 years before the main story of Bloodstained begins. He uses a dual katana fighting style along with Japanese “ofuda” paper incantations to destroy his demonic foes. During his long battle to keep the demons at bay he loses his left eye and right arm. Using a special Ofuda spell he is able to animate a wooden prosthetic arm to nearly the same level of mobility as his original arm. The Ofuda that covers his missing left eye grants him the ability to see both auras of both the living and dead. He lost a great deal of friends during his 10 years of fighting, creating an absolute hatred for not only the creatures themselves but also the Alchemists that brought them to the Earth. More from IGA:Zangetsu is a character I came up with when trying to answer this question: What happened in the lost time between the appearance of the demons on earth and Miriam's awakening 10 years later? In all my games I’ve never had a Samurai character appear, much less a character from Japan, so I’m using the opportunity of working in this new universe to try something new. The character is an interesting blend—he wears a Western coat, reminiscent of the era, but has it half open, which is a very Japanese style. I wanted to show off a bit of his wild nature with the design. We are still working out the Ofuda concept, so please bear with us. It’s kind of ironic—I was able to come up with Miriam, Johannes, and Gebel’s name rather easily, but landing on a good Japanese name ended up taking a long time. - IGA
