Black Force - Spirit of Ancient Writings I really enjoy listening to albums and bands I find recommend on YouTube. If it has a name I like or a great cover art (like in this case), then I will probably try it out. This is my first time listening to this band, it's good. I really like the keyboards in this (or maybe they are synthesizers, I actually have no idea). They are the highlight of this album, often greatly mixing itself with the raw black metal riffs. And also serving as interludes between some tracks and introductions to songs, some of these songs are very atmospheric and even relaxing. Like in the song "Der Seherin Weissagung", a beautiful dark ambient track. I must say, I really like the artwork on the cover. I am fond of eerie art with a lot of lines on it (I don't know what this particular style is called), I especially love the green and dark blue in this, I tend to enjoy this or desaturated colours (that feel a little reminiscent of medieval art), and if not, then purple and red. The drums are really good in this album too, I also like the guitar tone and the dark raw melodies. Together they give this album a unclean feeling, without sounding fuzzy like a broken radio. You can hear the instruments fine, it's obviously still not some super production, but it's not meant to be, and it works nicely here. And believe me, there is a line between horrible production and being a good simple non-over produced album, if you can hear the instruments evenly, it's good, it doesn't need to sound too clean or anything. I would compare it to the artwork itself, it's dark and full of jagged lines on the shading, but you can tell what it is and it's good at that. If you took away these elements to make it cleaner, it would not be as dark and effective, and it's the same with the sound I should say. That said, I like the song " Voices" a lot. As for the album overall... Not mind-blowing (which again I doubt it's meant to be), but still a good listen.

-Konami vs Capcom.
A 2D game in the style of Marvel vs Capcom 2 (which by itself is already unlike, at best it would be 2.5D). With various characters from many old and newer Konami games which are forgotten nowadays (Maybe Konami Man, Konami Girl, Goemon, Parodius characters, Getsu Fuuma, Castlevania characters, Jikkyo Pro Baseball maybe, and probably a lot more), with the Capcom characters too.
A 3 vs 3 game or something in that style. I would love that.
-A new Goemon, Parodius, Getsu Fuuma Den or other forgotten by Konami game Nothing to say, other than this is very unlikely.
A new Klonoa would great too.

I have been playing Custom Battler Bomberman (Also known as Bomberman 2, but that title just creates confusion anyway, due to the actual Bomberman 2 and other Bomberman games with 2 in the title) on the Nintendo DS.
It's very interesting. Unlike most Bomberman games, you get items to equip, you level up (which means you can use better equipment, since there's a limit to what equips you can you use depending on your level). These items upgrade your stats differently, and are each useful on different situations. Some may give you new abilities if you equip them, or if you equip them along with some other equipment. You can go back on stages as much as you want, and sometimes you need to if you want some equipment that you couldn't get previously because you lacked an ability that could grant you access to said equip.
It's a fun game, although there's no much to it, I honestly believe it could be incremented.
The idea is simple, and I would love to see Konami exploring these alternative Bomberman games since they're bringing the series back. Bomberman has always worked very nicely with experimentational gameplay changes, due to the basics going down to the gameplay and character mechanics itself. In a way not unlike Kirby. On a side note, it's still so weird for me to get used to the fact that Konami owns Bomberman now, especially since they never did anything with it until Super Bomberman R.

Here's some art for it coming out of Japan - I'm really surprised they're actually using the Castlevania name in the Japanese version too. That said, I'm rather excited for this, it looks really promising. I hope they make a faithful adaptation, while still expanding on the existing story of the games. Having mentions of previous events on the timeline would be really nice. And I really hope they don't make up things that didn't exist in the story. I would also love if they could add some recognizable areas from the game, like the Clockwork and Mad Forest. And I would especially appreciate if there's some of the game music in arranged form in a way or another. Wherever it fits better on a scene.

In all honesty. I think no Castlevania game has ever been really fast anyway, even the older ones (maybe especially the older ones). While there are parts in which you are required to use faster reflexes, the series has always been about more precise platforming, exploration and mostly knowing how to time your attacks, dodge, make good use of your extra weapons, and so on. Most of the earlier games had incredibly intense moments where you had to jump, crouch and basically avoid attacks coming from all types of directions (like the famous Medusa Heads flying in one pattern, next to the Axe Knight that throws the axe like a boomerang, or the various moments with stairs/falling blocks/pits where you couldn't even attack properly).
These games need you to take your time, analyse the situation and learn how to get through the challenges offered. None of the games were about rushing through the stages as fast as possible (rushing mindlessly generally gets you damaged or killed in some way), and it's just the nature of the game, if it was super fast it would be counter-intuitive, while there are some speed upgrades in the IGAvanias, it's never some super speed anyway. You can play fast if you master the gameplay and enemy behaviour, but that's about it.
If you think about it, the only games where the slow speed really was a problem were the earlier Game Boy games.
I don't think the speed in the Castlevania games are really a flaw, because these aren't the type of games for a fast paced gameplay anyway, think of Contra, another Konami game from around the same time, Contra is a more fast-paced game, the enemies are faster, the bullets are fast, everything is fast. And it's just natural because that game is a Run n' Gun, so it naturally requires you to run, shoot and overall react really fast to the objects coming at you.
But in contrast, Contra is very straight forward, in the most literal way, the platforming is pretty simple, you go either in a straight vertical or horizontal path and that's it. The focus is on combat, if you try to play it in a slower way, it might get you killed. It's frenetic. Castlevania on the other hand, has focus on the platforming, avoid enemies, you have a little more time to react most of time, it has precise jumping in some moments, and it has the weapons are slower, generally low-ranged, but you are given more options, there's some more strategy other than just being fast.
Which is completely normal.
While I don't mean there are no flaws in these games, I just mean that sometimes the speed is ideal, even if we just don't notice. I know some games suffer from having player sprites that are too big or too fast, or both, since the stages conflict with those mechanics.
That said, I'm sure this will eventually be changed, since the game is still being worked on. And I'm also sure there will be in-game power ups to make the player faster.

I very honestly hope they don't abandon 2D Metroid now. I have nothing against Metroid Prime. But I'm a fan of this type 2D exploration games, and I think it would be ideal if they kept making both. Mario still gets 2D and 3D consistently, so does Zelda.
So I personally would like it if the same happens with Metroid.

This is beautiful. I would certainly buy this if it was 3D printed with color. Even if it would most certainly be expensive.

I'm surprised. This looks really good.
I would play this, it makes me wonder if Mighty No. 9 will still have more games. Inti Creates seems to be handling it alright (well, they are really good on these type of games anyway).

There's a Japanese old NDS game called 7th Dragon, and it's a pretty nice game.
It's similar to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon with its quest system, but not on the gameplay. The overworld is open, you can go wherever you want to, including dungeons (although some places are blocked, but you would most certainly die if went to these places anyway). But it's not really safe. What I like is the skill system, you can choose attributes and skills, building your character in the desired way. No need to worry about old weapons either.
Mine is a girl with a whip. She can intimidate enemies and demand their obedience. And do a ton of other cool things, like healing herself too. It feels really good to feel in complete control over your character.
It also feels nice on how the game handles your freedom, you can make a complete party, or play the game with only one character. The leveling up feels really gratifying just because you can choose what skills you want to learn and what stats to give an increase. So it always feels nice, because it's not just leveling up and getting more defense and attack or something too basic.
Although the game overall has a style meant to replicate older games. I like how there's no much focus on the story, you can stay playing and training your character to get better stats, explore, and the plot (which is rather simple and doesn't get in the way of the game at all) with no worries. There's no one to bother you if you want to do that. Your character doesn't talk, but since the game is light on overall plot, it works very well, it feels like your , of which you have complete control over and whose personality and quirks are up to your mind. I like this, it kinda makes you think of how your character would be, what would be their motivations and so on. The only thing that's missing is that you don't make your character design, but you can pick from various options for each class. Which is really nice.
It feels fun and hooks you in. Although it's not for everyone, and it's not exactly too easy. Although I'm used to it, once you get the hang of it, it becomes really enjoyable, and you feel your character growth with each level up. This is really important, there are some games in which you level up, either in a hard way or easy way, but it doesn't feel particularly satisfying. In this game it's always great, you get some points to add your desired stats and skills. It's not too easy, so it feels earned, but it's good enough to feel like it's worth it.
I wish there more games with this kind of mechanic.
Does anyone know something similar? It's really enjoyable.

Jacula - In Cauda Semper Stat Venenum
I like organ music, this also sounds really ominous for something from 1969, I like it. Not my favourite organ piece at all, but it's good and atmospheric. Probably the least exciting album on this thread, but to be honest, I really enjoy more relaxed or atmospheric music. Whether it invokes a feeling of horror and wickedness, or if it's just more calm and tranquil, it's generally always good to listen at night. Which is the time I enjoy most of my time, since there's less noise overall.

I like Bomberman, and it's really nice to see it back. I was really surprised when I saw it announced, I just couldn't believe it, it felt like a dream (a lot of the games coming to the Nintendo Switch are really making me happy in general, I like how there are so many indie games, many with physical releases, like Cave Story, and as such, there are a lot of good games, especially Metroidvanias, which is really good, most of the games on the Switch in general have a really nostalgic value to them, it excites me a lot, I keep imagining more about the future than what's already here, 2018 seems promising, Bloodstained alone already sold me, but the fact there are a whole lot of other games that caught my attention is also great).
Back to the subject of Konami.
If they actually revive the old IPs, that would be great.
Castlevania, Gradius, maybe Contra too? They have so many good IPs, it really makes me just joyful to imagine all the possibilities. The fact they're referencing their games is already something, just like they used to in the old days, when they're games were filled with references to each other. Oh well, if that happens, I can seriously get a little bit of hope even for the most unlikely things, like Goemon, Parodius and maybe even Getsu Fuuma Den. Who knows? It's stretching the line a lot, I know, but I'm just having some hope here. I mean... I can dream, right?

I personally think it's not necessary. I'm sure Bloodstained 2 will be made with the money from the sales of the first game. I'm confident in the game, and I'm sure it will be great.
They won't really need another Kickstarter.
Kickstarter is really for starting projects. After a project is successful, it doesn't need to rely on Kickstarter.

I personally would like to see a forest area. Most Castlevania games, classic, 3D or metroidvania, had some form of forest area, sometimes next to the castle. And it fits with the whole atmosphere too, a medieval old castle being located near some forest is just natural. Most of the times it is, either that or over a mountain or hill of some type.
I always loved the forest areas.
