Hello everyone, today we have an update on our progress regarding the Switch version of the game and an update on localization. Regarding localization, we’ve been alerted that several of the languages available for Bloodstained have not been translated to the high quality bar we set for ourselves. However, I’m happy to report that our Production teams are on top of this situation and are in the process of doing a full localization pass on all languages. You can also help in this process by visiting this forum thread and providing specific examples of problem areas encountered with any languages you play the game in. Regarding the Switch version of the game; the amazing teams at Way Forward and ArtPlay are already hard at work on improvements. Below is a list of what we’re working to fix ASAP via multiple updates over the next few weeks: * HD Rumble Fix (completed!) * Crash Stability * Optimizing Miriam’s jump * Variety of updates to the game and engine, including: * Optimizing animation of certain enemies (Way Forward is testing some techniques to accomplish big things here, but it may be risky and require lots of testing, may need to be pushed to a later update) * Addressing input delay wherever it occurs * Switch specific loading optimizations (requires a bit more work, will probably be in the last “ASAP” patches) Obviously the above plan will adapt as we identify priorities and new tasks & as we add development resources, but we’ll keep you updated as we go. We’ll also have more to announce soon as we do more to improve the Switch version of Bloodstained. We are committed long-term to making sure the Switch version is just as great and enjoyable as the other platforms, and this is just a window into our immediate action plans. We apologize again for the inconvenience of the Switch launch not going according to plan, but we really appreciate your understanding and support as we work to make things right.

Thank you for continuing to work on it! Though can I ask if part of the fixes will include upgrading some of the character textures? Things like Miriam's crystals and Zangetsu's scars are really jarring, especially in cutscenes. Gebel's cape and Alfred's outfit also stick out as really low-res... Hope something can be done to better bridge the gap between versions.
There are also a lot of graphical pop-ins, especially when using a warp point to a different area which, while not deal-breaking, do ruin the immersion a fair bit, as does a few of the textures when playing undocked (the paintings stick out particularly for that...)
I'm having a blast so far with it though, and I hope these things can be ironed out soon to make the Switch game the best it can be!

I would like the Switch version of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night to be fixed with graphics, textures, text, resolution, frame rate, input lag, crashes, freezes, loading times. I want the Switch version of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night to be 1080p docked mode at 60fps.

Thank you for continuing to work hard! We all appreciate it! May I ask when you plan on having these Switch updates/patches released approximately? Are we talking within a week or two, or will it likely take over a month? Me and many others are debating if it's worth it to wait for the patches before playing the game for the first time.

Thank you for all your hard work, please fix the framerate issues as soon as possible for the Switch because it's tanking for me to around 20fps or lower and it's making it really hard for me to enjoy playing even though I love the game, and it kills me because Dawn of Sorrow and Symphony of the Night are my favorite games of all time and I know Bloodstained can just as good on Switch if it is optimized a little better.

And how about an eShop sale on Curse of the Moon to hold some of us over while we wait for the RotN patches?

Have a feeling that the texture will not improve and latch will not be release anytime soon, probably take weeks. Sigh 😔, I bought the game from E-shop. If I had the physical copy, I would be happy to exchange it for PS4 version. Hopefully they fix the frame rate soon, or are they busy calculating profit made for PS4 and XBox sales?

The Switch version should not have been released in such a bad state. I think localization issues are the last to worry about. Performance of the game is not acceptable, developers should work on stable frame rate, input lag and clunky gameplay that all this causes. For this type of game, responsive control of the character is the most important aspect. I am not sure if textures can be improved a lot, I think they can be improved if experienced team would handle the port/optimization.

At this rate I think it would be fair to allow Switch backers to change their DLC codes to another platform of their choice. I picked Switch knowing fully that it wouldn't be on par with the other versions but the issues present with it as is are a bit much. Had the game crash on me, making me lose an hour of progress.
I have an extra code for the Switch version via Fangamer that I'd like to substitute for the PS4 version if at all possible

I don’t know if anybody else is having this issue but I’m climbing the tower with the twin dragons as I am getting bliss to the top the game crashes, this has happened twice, switch is docked both times and game was started from patch 1.01

You would’ve thought Bloodstained will perform better on Nintendo system (since the first Castlevania game is from NIntendo), what a shame.

The way this release was handled is just beyond comprehension. Should not have been released at all. Clearly You don't know what you are doing. Just give out switch players download codes for other platforms so in meantime they can at least play the game decently. Even those patch notes sound like smoke and mirrors. Version 0.1 on cartridge, Screens of PS4 version in eshop, game delayed by a week. I know I sound bitter. That's because this one is a big slap across the face which won't be forgotten.

Thank you SO much! While I can handle the visual drop and 30fps, it's nice to know that you are working to make the Switch version better! But please for the Love of Miriam's Fairy familiar, FIX THE FRAMEDROPS!!! I can handle most of the other stuff for now, but please fix that along with the random crashes. Thank you!

UE4 post 4.20 included new optimization for Nintendo Switch and allowed the more demanding Everspace to run smoothly on the platform. I think it will be within the team's interest to actually move the engine forward with the post launch free dlcs. Also visual need some improvement as well. Vepar is missing all the skin detail for example.

Might I suggest a tweak to the map screen.... I think it would be better to have the map auto-centered on Miriam when you first call it up, rather than having to press another button to do so. Or make this a customizable option. Would also be great to be able to set the default zoom level when calling up the full screen map as well. Every time I call up the map I have to center and zoom manually. Thanks for listening, keep up the good work guys!
