Expect yet another delay.

Wait, I thought you were quoting IgA or something here at first, but that's mostly if anything IGN just assuming what stage of development the game is at. The music is done and it's amazing. I just don't think the reviewer was able to hear it for whatever reason. I also doubt he has any real insight on how far the game is, I'd imagine less of an idea than us.

Seems like a rather knee-jerk reaction. I'll wait to try the demo myself rather than put all my expectation eggs in the basket of some random reviewer's opinion.

The quality of the music was brought into question, so a response like that does make sense.

Well, there will be some E3 streams today. IGA will be answering many questions and the most common question is indeed release date. I seriously doubt we will get a release date today, and not having a release date announced at E3 is a pretty obvious sign it won't be releasing this year. However, if it does get delayed to next year I don't think it will be past the first quarter.

Honestly I hope it is indeed next year. I want to play the demo, and give my feedback with a chance that changes will be made. If they are releasing this year, what we get in the demo will most certainly be what we get on release. There's no time to gather a lot of feedback and make adjustments if they are going to be pushing release to this many platforms.

So, not only do I expect a delay I hope for one. However, I believe I'm more patient and have more personally invested in this game than a lot of other people. I only say that because I know a huge chunk of backers are at the digital only lowest cost tier. It's not that those backers aren't as emotionally invested in playing, I just think they probably don't spend time every single day of their lives thinking and talking about Bloodstained like I do. I'd rather the team have time for adjustments I'd like to see than to play the game this year, but I totally understand the perspective of a huge chunk of fans who are already past their patience limit that just wanted to play already and be on to their next game.

E3 over hypes game announcements and that hype can screw up expectations for game that are barely in a state to talk about to the public. Kickstarter is even worse, as Bloodstained was a loose idea with few stretch goals when the campaign just started. We've switched developers, publishers, probably localization, a platform, and we have to port to Vita that sounded like a miricle in the first place to even make happen. We added many stretch goals and have heard that a staggered release is not what the team is among for. We haven't heard anything lately about release other than "we have no release date announced at this time". All signs point to next year. This is assuming that during the Q&A today the question isn't answered though. Stay tuned!

The fact they're not talking about a release at E3 kind of gives away their 2018 target is going to be completely missed.

That's a rather apt point I often forget.

As someone who was born in 1995, it's surreal to read about Ocarina of Time's many storied delays.  By the time I was old enough to be even vaguely aware of Zelda, it seemed as though it had always been around.  Even games that I did actively wait in agony for, I'm surprised by how eerily easy it is to forget about that agony after release.

I don't think there will be another delay. I'm expecting full game release in December 2018 with some of the stretch goals organized into free DLC updates throughout 2019. I know they have said they don't want to do a staggered content release, but this is what I think will happen.

Honestly I don't mind a delay, at least Curse of the moon was released in 2018 and it surpassed my wildest expectations when it comes to a simple stretch goal project. I have seen the changes they did to the galleon compared to the last demo released and I'm pleased with the progress so far. Go back to the original galleon demo and play it side by side to the new one and the improvements are clear as the sky, orchestrated music instead of synth, excelent voice acting in dialogs, better lighting textures, details, enhanced 3D effects and overall presentation are better than ever. There are a few things I would change but I hope a constructive feedback will be given after the beta ends just like the last time and it will finish polishing the game to a level I'm comfortable with.

The press is gonna be extremely critical of Bloodstained after failed kickstarters like MN9, and if there is anything that I wouldn't stand is to see is this game getting 6s or 7s when I know it could very well be a 9 or a 10 if given time to be polished. I mean the entire gothic metroidvania genre hangs on to this game and I want more stories like what we had in curse of the moon, but for that to happen Ritual has to do well in the eyes of the public and critics. Half assing the game to release it early is not gonna help.
