If the game is around the late 1800's I could see the *penultimate* gun being an actual Revolver, barring some silly boss rush reward like Aria's Positron Rifle XD The late 1800's (aka the Victorian Era) had several kinds of firearms including: Derringers: aka a single-shot "pocket" gun ,which was popular for assassins due to its small size as well as ladies of the time for defense Flintlocks were still in use, though becoming antiqued. AKA the gun in the video could easily be a weaker, early-game firearm. Colt Revolvers: the popular "cowboy" gun was used in Europe in the 1800's, they were very modern at the time, of course Muskets and Flintlock Rifles were still around too, and the earliest shotguns started to appear in the 1800's as well. Without hunting the updates I cannot remember if this game takes place during the Industrial Revolution or just after it, which could set the game anywhere from the 1760's-1890's and would obviously dramatically affect the kinds of firearms available. I do not expect rifles and shotguns, I agree that would stray too far from what we expect in IGA's games. Still, Miriam using some kind of cool, stylized Revolver as the endgame gun would be fine by me, especially if it used some kind of cool, alchemical silver ammunition to aid in demon slaying .

Flintlocks totally fit the time period of the 1700's a boss with a modern mini gun attached to its arm doesn't. They did have a Gatling gun in the 1800s but still I see nothing wrong with the guns Miriam uses.

lol, man I love revolvers and I was just reading up on them in this time period. We'd miss the Single Action Army by about 100 years, but there were flintlock revolvers being made as early as the 1810s. I did see that Germany produced a type of matchlock revolver long gun way back in the late 1500s, but they were rare/expensive novelty weapons.
Yes...six-gun for Miriam! I'm down. It's not -that- much of a stretch. If centerfire ammunition is a thing in the game, then I'd say we're good to go.

They could even toss in a system where she can quickly fire 6 times before having to sit through a lengthy reload animation that left her open. "I love reloading in the middle of a battle" indeed EDIT: I also have to wonder if the ammo system is also to make sure she doesn't feel to much like Albus. After all, he had the best firearm the franchise has ever seen. Super broken but hey, he was a bonus character and that turned out to be a lot of fun.

I think in general there's gunna have to be different ammunition types if there are indeed different types of guns available. A typical revolver or pistol would probably use .380 ammunition, if memory serves correctly. And I looked into the Japanese Arquebuse that Viftech had mentioned, and they seem to use black powder for ammunition, similar to that of the flintlock. Now obviously those are two very different types of ammunition, so I was thinking about it, and I think that it is very likely that we will be able to purchase standard ammo from whatever shop that Bloodstained contains, but I'm also hoping that we will be able to synthesize different types of ammo with alchemy as well. I also hope that one can create ammunitions that have different attributes attached to them. For example, bullets that deal fire damage, or perhaps bullets that have a bludgeoning attribute, rather than a piecing. Maybe bullets that inflict status ailments as well? Another point to bring up is that the guns will probably have different stats depending on what type of gun and ammunition are used. Anything akin to a pistol will likely use bullets and shoot rather rapidly, whereas anything akin to an arquebuse or shotgun will likely be much slower. And what of reloading? Will that be a factor as well? Or will it be a cumulative effect, and Miriam will simply be able to shoot until her ammo runs out? So many questions... I have to say the reaction to Firearms being a more featured weapon style has been far more positive than I expected. Even in the Sorrow saga the handguns were more of a novelty. I expected a backlash, especially from the more casual fans who might not know previous games did feature guns, even if limited. And yet here we are talking about reload animations and ammunition crafting XD
Though I suppose the attitude here is: "If they're going to give us guns with an actual ammo system, they'd better go all-out and make them a viable playstyle". The Silver Gun Soma could get was cute but...good luck killing Chaos with it you absolute madman!
If there are different kinds of ammo, I'd hope enemies have at least a decent chance of dropping a kind of "standard" ammunition so you don't have to go back to a melee weapon every couple of minutes. Even if the game has something like Dawn/Ecclesia where you can cycle through a couple different setups on the fly that could still gt annoying if even basic ammo is crazy rare and expensive.

I'm for a simplified ammunition-system. For the sake of elegance in gameplay let us directly shoot money (for example lose 1 unit of money per shot fired) instead of having to juggle various ammunition types per weapon and needing to go back to the store every time you're out of ammo. Just skip that annoying step by simply letting us shoot the Money that we would otherwise spend on bullets anyway. Also I'd say it would be best to omit reloading or at least have no extra button for reloading. It'd probably be okay to have the shoot-button reload after a certain amount of shots instead of shooting again. This COULD be used for balancing if done right. It might feel sort of unresponsive though so if that extra balancing proves unneccessary I'd be against needing to reload just for realism's sake. I prefer sleek gameplay over realistic gun-simulation. Especially in a game like Bloodstained which is not mainly about guns.

The shoes, whip and gun are the only weapon types that doesn't mention if they are single-handed or two-handed, so we will maybe have to expect that they will require different playstyles or have different power depending on what kind of handling that weapon needs.So these weapons may need a shield or another weapon alongside it to be useful if they are single-handed.
Since the guns we have seen so far are single-handed, meaning they will require some weapon or shield with them as well, alongside the limited ammo (or amount of bullets fired before reloading).
There is somethings else to be talked about regarding usefulness of long range weapons compared to magic attacks. Since bullets are used it's along the same line as magic, can we expect guns to be as powerful or weaker than long range magic attacks due to similar limited fashion and range?

Short update but things are looking great. Greatswords are going to be my prefered weapon again because they offer that sweet up attack. Also the whip animation is quite awkward tbqh. Curious about how is the swordwhip animation gonna be after this update, will you be able to change between sword and whip or is it going to get a different animation all together?

Great update overall, really liking the design choices here. I only wish that the animations were a tad faster and they had knuckle weapons as well. Still though, I'm nerding out on all this stuff.

The guns are a little interesting due to the time frame, the gun we see in the update is a flintlock pistol from around (1700-1730) The one from the data mining shows us something similar to a edo japanese arquebuse, from around 1400 until the middle of the 17th century. Wonder what other kinds of guns we will see, all of the guns so far was popular in the early 17th century so is that the time frame they will use for the weapons? this just kidding lol (this was for CastleDan) but I really do want to know if she will be able to dual wield some guns... what if there are twin guns? they have to be used together... um... or else (sorry can't make anything up right now lol I had a long night). but yeah I wanna see her dual wield... something, anything.

Every IGA game has specialized weapons not in the *base* model. Stuff like the Nebula from Portrait was utterly unique, or the Whip-Sword from Aria or the Balmung fro the same game, or even the famous Crissagrim from Sotn. I highly doubt every single weapon will share these same handful of animations. Most of them probably will, but I'm sure there will be some very unique weapons.

A) Not every backer is up to date on all the details found within the demo (through legit or other means). To them, this is brand new information. B) To be clear, even if the animations may have only been spoiled by demo hacking, if you played around a bit with the menu you could figure out the weapon types C) All that being said, there still isn't what I'd call a ton of meat on the update. Not saying its bad at all but I could understand how even if you weren't familiar with the "ins and outs" of the demo you could still consider this not a lot of new information. The game still feels somewhat small because there is a TON we don't know (and I mean stuff you'd reasonably expect to learn before the game ships - not spoilery stuff).

I do wonder what else they will talk about. As mentioned earlier if they still plan to launch in Match we will have updates for: August, September, October, November, December, January and February. So 7, unless they release one last update during the actual launch month. This, of course, is assuming they do not push back the launch, which they probably will but for the sake of my speculation I will operate under the assumption they will launch in March and February will be the final backer update. (A celebratory March update on launch day seems likely and reasonable, I will add).
-I'm betting this Halloween we will get the IGA cosplay we won all those months ago. It likely will not be the focus of an update however -One of these updates will also be either mostly, or probably entirely centered around the Steam/Gog demo. November-January seems like the time to expect this: far enough from the E3 demo to really show progress but also far enough from launch for feedback to be meaningful. Launching the Demo on Halloween would be fantastic timing but i highly doubt it will be ready that soon (just think: the Demo and IGA's cosplay on Halloween. What an October that would be) -One update will almost certainly focus on feedback for the demo
So shaving off 2/7 updates for Demo and related feedback would give them 5 updates to play with between now and launch. What do you think will be shown? I'd bet familiars will be one of them easily. Also one about the conditions for the physical launch of the game: will they hold it until 100% or launch physical and digital together? Perhaps an update detailing multiplayer and the additional modes like Classic and Roguelike seems feasible.
(I almost feel like I should have started a speculation thread with all this theorycrafting XD)

I just hope they give the other characters decent animations this time. I feel like igavanias skimp out on animation work for other characters. No one is expecting as good as your main character but they don't have to be stiff as a board either.

Could you please post the specific source of the 1700s thing? I can't seem to find this information anywhere official. As far as I understand revolvers only really got "mainstream" within the 1800s but the basic invention of early revolver-type guns dates back to the 1500s so there might be something like that if the game indeed plays during the 1700s.
