I'm very happy with these animations: -Although it isn't *quite* what I described in our Weapons thread, I like the added weight the Greatswords have, what with her bringing it over her head for the slam. As long as the sound design is suitably meaty I'll be very satisfied here -That whip animation is just sexy. I was already gunning for whips and well, now its cemented! -As someone who didn't dig in when people were cracking the demo, I had no idea the game had firearms, so needless to say when Miriam pulled out a flintlock I was very surprised; and pleased with the animation, and the idea of an ammo system makes me hope for something akin to Salt and Sanctuary, where guns have limited ammo but are quite powerful and satisfying -The sword, rapier/dagger and spear animations are also quite solid. I especially like that idle stance for Spears. -I already enjoyed the Katana and Kick animations, and obviously I still do XD Overall a very satisfying update! EDIT: The guns, time period (and the fact IGA has said his wife played the game) makes me hope Miriam will have a coat and tricorn hat to wear, that way we can truly realize the IGA take on Bloodborne XD I would be on cloud nine if we could dress up Miriam as Maria from BB.

Throwing swords would've been cool to see. Also that whip motion really reminds me of Mirror of Fate. Come at me fanboys.

Those definitely look cool, the sword animation is simple but gets the job done. I'm really looking forward to using the spears and whips though. Pistol I think will only get used for situations where you have to stay away from things, more of a puzzle solver than a main weapon, but I assume we'll have magic for the casual ranged attacks. I definitely hope that we see plenty of weapons that subvert the standard rules though, like swords that attack at a distance and that sort of thing. I love the oddball weapon effects.

I would not be entirely opposed to the idea of Miriam whipping me.
Also, remember how things looked in the demo. Just want to say that in case anyone is worried about the framerate in the video.

I'm also pretty sure the Whip description is about how the attack animation doesn't resemble the old Castlevania Whip at all, but the new animation DOES very strongly resemble the Strong Attack Whips have in Dark Souls.

All right, so thoughts on things. I'm basically on the same page as croc here, also:
Large weapons/two-handed sword: Slightly disappointed that the two-hander sword animation is the wood chopping again, lol. I guess it makes sense though if you need to categorize them with hammers and "rods", which I'm assuming they're talking about larger clubs, bar maces, big staves? When I think "rod", I think of a smaller single-hand wooden magician's rod with a crystal or elemental gem on top of it.
Whips: Speaking of crouching attack animations, I imagine that the whip's would have to be something especially unique since the normal standing attack already covers the same space that a crouching attack would. I must say that I will definitely miss the classic, perfectly straight horizontal freeze frames of the whip attack, but maybe a few select weapons could still do that ("chain whip", "whip of alchemy"?)
Guns/ammo: Like you other guys, I'm curious about this. The Sorrow guns weren't particularly great, so here's hoping that giving them limited ammunition this time around means they will be a significant weapon category. I do wonder how convenient/easy it will be to switch to another method of attack quickly to use not-ammo during standard gameplay when you just want to hit a candle or test a wall. She will need an attack that doesn't have a cost associated with it for just exploring. It would be pretty annoying if you had to even hot swap your equip set just to do that.
Lastly, yeah...good call on the speed run contest, but they did just say "a future update" right? They could save that announcement for when the demo period ends. Similarly, they had called for umbrella videos to be featured in future updates, but I think only a couple of people were nerd enough to do that (I was one of them heh).

Well I'm pretty sure this update also confirms B will be used for a second weapon OoE and SotN style, why else would using two handed weapons matter? They even used bold text.

I'm just wondering how would the whip animation work mid-air ? She'll probably swing it similarly, but just aim at a lowered diagonal angle instead of straight ahead I'm sure. :p

I forgot all about that: Leon would do a 3 hit light combo, then hit heavy and crack the whip on the ground. Nice memory XD and yeah, that hand-on-hip with the guns is so sassy! Especially the Clint Eastwood twirl at the end.

That whip animation!! SaveI KNOW I absolutely adore the whip animation. And since PoR was the only DS title to feature whips, (excluding Julius Mode) I am totally stoked to see them returning. It's too bad that we probably won't see the Vampirekiller. I'm pretty sure that's a Konami trademarked item. :[
