Update 42!
Well, here's something we've been interested to see for a while!
Highlights: - Animations video
- Detailed weapon animation thoughts/explanations, and also outlining the requirement that Runic Forging tiers will need to follow one of these 12 weapon types
- BitSummit mention, fanart
What do you guys think of the animations? My thoughts will follow later.

I am in love with that whip animation. It is postively gorgeous. The other animations look great too, although I had a chuckle at Miriam swinging a claymore almost as long as she is tall.

ALSO they mentioned a rod...Shield Rod, anyone? :p Another piece they mentioned is that Guns will now use ammunition. So it's not gunna be like Dawn or Circle of the Moon where you could just fire repeatedly with reckless abandon.

Well, I think I will know which weapon type that will become my favourite from the animations and regarding the speed, they feel slow, but I hope that is just to show us how the animations will look like, not the actual final game

The animations are pretty cool. I like the gun animation and the katana animation the most. The gun cuz twirls and katana cuz form. Although, Miriam seems to have actual form and technique in the weapons she uses, which is quite impressive.
And it seems guns do use ammo.

argh, I would have enjoyed this update more had we not seen the animations due to the people sneaking into the demo files. Lol
It was nice to have some words about each type though, including info on the guns.

I liked the way Miriam stands with the gun, looks really cute. The gun weapons is also quite interesting considering you use up the bullets, makes one wonder if the guns will be OP or if we will not get many guns but different types of ammo.

A) It would have been nice to see crouching, jumping and diagonal attack animations for those weapon types. B) That whip animation is not what I would have expected. Looks more ornate than useful? Not that its bad just that it will probably require a bit of adjustment given the background most of us have. Will have to get my hands on it to see if I like these whips more or less than Castlevania whips. C) Guns need bullets now? I'd have to assume there is a large power boost relative to how they worked in previous Castlevania games. I wonder if we can expect magical bullets ala Outlaw Star? That would be sweet and better justify the ammunition requirements: D) We kind of had a good sense of the weapon types from mined data in the demo but this should help focus weapon discussion on the board E) I see no mention of Gamescom so I guess IGA isn't going there this year Update was less meaty than I expected/wanted but then again expectations have probably been warped given the time frame and that the last "major" update was a demo LOL. Good to see everything continuing to move on track. Keep up the good work IGA, Inticreates, etc.

Love it XD... I am so glad there are different stances. I wonder if those are really all the weapons, if they are, that's a bit sad, I wanted to see fist type weapons. But I guess this is still good.
I loved her kicks that was already awesome.
the motion for the swords and maces are cool but expected
I don't think the short sword or rapier was shown...? or was that the knife movement too?
The katana was great XD so smooth and stylistic
The large weapon animation was cute, I like how she somewhat struggles with the swing
Spears are kinda expected... but still nice
The whip had more class then any castlevania game lol I like how they mentioned that.
and her gun animation is so... so... sassy XD I loved it!!!
Again I wish there was a dual wielding stance of some sort... oh well. This update was still great!

I'm very happy with these animations: -Although it isn't *quite* what I described in our Weapons thread, I like the added weight the Greatswords have, what with her bringing it over her head for the slam. As long as the sound design is suitably meaty I'll be very satisfied here -That whip animation is just sexy. I was already gunning for whips and well, now its cemented! -As someone who didn't dig in when people were cracking the demo, I had no idea the game had firearms, so needless to say when Miriam pulled out a flintlock I was very surprised; and pleased with the animation, and the idea of an ammo system makes me hope for something akin to Salt and Sanctuary, where guns have limited ammo but are quite powerful and satisfying -The sword, rapier/dagger and spear animations are also quite solid. I especially like that idle stance for Spears. -I already enjoyed the Katana and Kick animations, and obviously I still do XD Overall a very satisfying update! EDIT: The guns, time period (and the fact IGA has said his wife played the game) makes me hope Miriam will have a coat and tricorn hat to wear, that way we can truly realize the IGA take on Bloodborne XD Attachments:

Fun update. Less content than most expected, i think, but sometimes, you need to hide your goods, so, they can still be goods We now can have a official grasp on all Weapon types and how they work and interact with the game. Considering the update, video, and some speculation, it is fun to see how they organized the weapon types. I will probably have more to say later, but now, fun update =)

I know it says it's is a single-handed vertical slash, but no matter how much I look at the basic weapon animation video and the umbrella-swinging video, I can't help but see it going diagonally not vertically.
Miriam looks like she is stretching her arm all the way to her right side, she does it even more in the new video compared to the umbrella one. IGA looks like he is stretching his arm forward and has slashed vertically but Miriam doesn't.

The descriptions had me confused for some reason but I'm glad I went back to analyze the video while reading the update. As these are idle attack animations I wonder if the team will go beyond previous igavanias and include aerial and crouching attack animations that are different from the idle one. Lastly, the lack of specifics for the animation of the whip makes me wonder if different whips will be used differently

And also, our savior and friend, LeoLeWolferoux , is well deserved of recognition from Lord IGA himself :3 Overall, though, update 42 is yummy. Looking forward to 43 with the usual bated breath.
