that "earth" icon looks like a foot. Could it be a status that affects movement, like paralyze or leaden? Actually, could it be bonus movespeed or crowd control resistance ?

Seeing that [ATK] is certainly raw attack power + weapon, I'd be more likely to say that [DEF] is raw defense power + armor and [CON], just like [STR] for attack, is raw defense power.

Hi everyone, Important note : I am aware Pure Miriam posted a large review of everything new in Update 39 topic and I am glad informations are shared ! I suggest we mainly focus on E3 in this thread. This is the first topic I create in the Bloodstained Discussion forum so I hope I won't mess up. Today, when landing on Youtube's home page, I saw a French Youtuber's video about Bloodstained's demo. He's called At0mium and he made a pretty decent review. Of course, it's in French but I'll translate the main points for you. BEWARE SPOILER !!! : What I will say may also contain spoiler !So, as you can see, we have an overall view of the demo. ~ What can we learn and see ? • Amazing shards animations when you collect them : There are two of them, a red one and a purple one. What is the difference between ? Does the animation appears the first time you collect it or does it appear everytime ? Apparently, you can learn a monster's power with shards (At0mium said this). How powerful is what you'll be able to learn ? How much can you learn from a monster / from the game's bestiary ? It sounds like Blue Magic to me (Final Fantasy) and I like it. • You can see Level up! animation at 3:12 ! • We can see all monsters from the last update (Morte, Seama, Dullahammer) + a new one, Amy : A blue floating soul-like monster (reminds about Medusa's head). • There are two different chests : A green one and a red one. They certainly give two different type of item. • The final boss of the stage, called Vepar. Info from At0mium : It has (obviously) two forms : A big monster maw near the boss' hips + the head itself. • What are the purple tentacles we can see in the ocean from the bridge ? Do they belong to the final boss ? Is it the creator of all Seama ? About the menu, since Pure Miriam made a very good review of it, I'll just put a link to its post here. All other things that At0mium said is about his opinion about graphics, gameplay, etc... Something I appreciated in his review is that, indeed, when you hit the final boss, it only shows damage but you don't really have the feel you're actually doing damage (no flash or target's move in reaction etc...). The shard animation is amazing ! A French Youtube podcasting indie games spotlights made a video about Bloodstained demo during E3. He had the luck to test it and meet IGA himself. Apparently, you can obtain monsters' signature power from shards.
I will share the video with you in a moment.

It looks like a basic starting sword. A sword Miriam just found in the boat ? Also, I like the effect when the sword hits the monster, the beautiful explosion canon does. There is a ramp too, does it mean we'll have to push it before using it ?

Here the 2 seconds footage. Edit: Wait bad idea. Let's try the webm: So, what we can see in these two screens : I) • A silver coin turning, which certainly means it's collectable : What could it be ? Money to buy stuff and bonus like in SOTN ? A special money for special items exchange ? An objective during the boat phase ? • The fishy monster we saw last update : Will they jump in the boat from the sea ? Also, motions look great and I like the damage amount display. II) • We can interact with some environement items to modify it : Here, we activate a cannon to make a break through a wall. Question : Could we use it to damage monsters in some other levels as well ? Plus, shaders look really great now. It's a short footage but we can still learn few things though.

Good eye. That's undeniable. In the room before it, there is a stair case up to some wall, but in the checkerboard video it is open. Really nice Mike, that's 2 secret rooms so far. I didn't notice it lol I upload the pic just to check the comparison: It's really interesting to see that comparison because it allows us to see that, in fact, the only physical part is the room structure + the stairs. On the grid map, the rest is empty, filled with textures, shaders... well, basically environement. It may sounds obvious but I really like to see both in the same time, it gives another vision of the level design.

Totally agree with you though. We could have some curves in a storage cave (with a lot of wine glasses to break) or on the bridge (with stairs to get on the rudder part).
Like you said, hallways are still awesome and that's only a tiny part of the game so I guess there will be a lot of variety in level designs then.
edit : I love the edits and how it looks on a 4K. It's time to improve my gear.

This update is amazing. First in first, thanks for providing us beautiful fanarts and screenshots everytime ! I'm always happy to see how the community is good and the progress of your work. - About the video -
• THAT SMOOTHNESS ! God bless you. It looks awesome. It's very pleasant to watch and I bet it will be 10x more pleasant to play it ! • Another good piece of Michiru Yamane ! • Love an intro on a ship heading to the castle. • Great level design but maybe : - Too "squary". - Too lineary. - Needs colors update (brighter, darker ?) IMO.
Concerning the demo, I am HYPED ! That's one thing I'll follow during the E3 and I'll be playing it and cheasing after every glitches (if there is a single).
- What I expect -
• A feedback survey/fill (like you did with shaders). • A possibility to play it multiple times so people can find, if existing, bugs, flaws, etc... to give interesting feedbacks. • An intense emotional moment !
Thank you again everyone, Iga, Mana, IntiCreates and BSForum ! I can't believe how far we've went and how long we still have to wait but, things are getting real, we keep getting positives feedbacks and updates and that makes me very happy, very proud to have backed this project and supported it as I could, and excited to play it when it'll be released !

Do you think it will be released on PC one day ? I don't want to buy anymore console to be fair. If it does get to pc/steam, SE said they'll remake the game from the ground up to take advantage of the platform's powerful hardware configurations It's good to hear ! Well, it's time to save money for a massive powerful PC.

OH ! That's a good new this Star Wa*... I mean, this Final Fantasy gets a remake ! IMO, it is one of the most underrated FF because many of fans were distract by the new real-time gameplay (which is the same gameplay-base for FFXV and FFVII Remake btw). It's still one of my favorite for the rich world it has. Ivalice is a really beautiful world and has a great lore ! I hope it will be available for PC but, to be fair, the exclusive PS4 are only for the big noisy announces (FFVII Remake and FFXV again). I'm glad to see that, even though I know it's a whole business market to remake every well sold games of the past but still, I'll be happy to play it on my laptop wherever I go ! * For those who didn't get the joke, FFXII is a whole easter egg of Star Wars saga. Play it with this being known and you'll find everything related !

The second opus of a game or a movie is always a dangerous part. Oftenly, we wish it never happend. Sometimes, it's even better than the first one ! Who never thought in the middle of a game : 'Oh, to think it's almost over... I want a next one !' or 'I wonder what happend in his/her life...' Some series had a brillant future when they thought it would be over even before the start (Final Fantasy ?). With Castlevania, we had a long serie of amazing games we all enjoyed for ! I would never call another Bloodstained Opus 'Bloodstained 2' but more like... 'Bloodstained : Alchemists' Awakening' or 'Bloodstained : Linked World' to refer, for instance, to the catastrophy that hit Alchemist Guild before the Castle got invaded by Demons (if I remember well) as a pre-sequel and, for the other option, what would follow the Final Boss stage (a fight with Gebel I suppose) where Demon World and Human World could be 'linked' as one. The adventure would (probably) never go around the world of course but we can imagine many things. I tend to think 'AGame'sName 2 / 3 / 4' sounds bad and artistically 'dead'. Of course, there are exceptions (Final Fantasy again) but I like the idea of giving the game a proper title like Castlevania's serie did. For now, I think we should wait to have beaten half the game for asking ourselves these questions seriously but I trust IGA's choices anyway and maybe it's a new beginning for him and his team. Maybe it is the start of another long serie. What could we hope better ?

I really hate the fact on some games that you visit a level only once and then never see it again unless for fun. I remember SOTN having a good point on this because there are so many secret rooms everywhere in the Castle that you're crossing old rooms over and over again ! Maybe SOTN lacks some energy on exploring though, but the idea is still good ! I hope we'll have, not only exploration, but re-exploration in Bloodstained !

Dullahammer is my favorite by far. That guy looks like he means business! Totally agree with that ! He could say : "You had fun with the Mortes Miriam, but now, you are dealing with me." *smashing his own head on the ground* I like the concept his using his head as a flail ! The design is pretty badass and looks fierce ! It reminds me of the Ekarissor in Final Fantasy. They look like they can inflict many damages while being able to take a lot of yours, like most of Armored Knights in SOTN for instance. The Morte is a good starting monster, I like it. Perhaps it looks "shiny" because we only see the grid map for now but according to the shaders we saw, I think it will look just fine within the levels we'll explore. Also, I have to agree with our human Miriam. The character looks absolutely awesome ! The pose is much more feminine and elegant. I like the kick motion and the way the monster dies. I hope we won't one shot it at the start already though ! Anyway, I'm excited to see more monsters and combat updates ! Thank you IGA, IntiCreates and everyone else involved into the project !
