caer - Thank you for creating this thread! I just received my new computer so what better way to start than to try out the Bloodstained demo? Most of the critiques have already been covered but there are several things I would like to commend: *I really like the cascading rain off of the ship Minerva. Compared to the 2016 demo, this looks absolutely jaw dropping. *As pointed out by RichterB, the backgrounds are not only stunning but also vary greatly from place to place. I especially like the large pool in the background in the Silent Garden. *Kudos to the animators: all enemies have *very* smooth attack and death animations (the bowmen enemies in particular) and I like how many of them realistically flinch when hit. *The music has surpassed my expectations and it's wonderful to listen to a fully orchestrated soundtrack. If this quality continues, it will likely be Ms. Yamane's best work. *Miriam's movement speed is spot on and in my opinion is improved over Symphony of the Night. *I really like the weapon variety. I personally own a kukri and it was nice to use one in-game as well as having an option to upgrade it. *Speaking of upgrades - the crafting system is both simple to use and very clear and intuitive. *I enjoyed the side-quests given by Lindsay and hope that there will be many more from her and other NPCs in the final game. That's all for now but I'll likely post more since this is only my first playthrough.

I think they're fairly well done since they fit the setting and don't detract from the immersion at all. That said the developers should be careful to not overuse the portraits. There was a stage in Mighty No. 9 with roughly the same ten people repeated over and over to the point where it was a challenge to count how many times each portrait appeared. Needless to say, that destroys immersion and cheapens the experience completely.

And I don't know if Anne's actually the last boss, but she's definitely the creepiest thing in that demo, lol.
100% agreed. She desperately needs an art touch-up. Right now she's standing in a relaxed t-pose with little movement compared to the other characters and is far creepier than many intentionally designed spooky young girls from other games.

I haven't played the demo yet due to computer issues but I did spot one typo - the optional sidequest for Rosaly is spelt Rosary in the quest log, but spelt (and spoken) as Rosaly by Lindsay.
EDIT: Does this belong in the feedback or bugs forums?

The "Claimh Solais" from Aria of Sorrow seemed just right in my opinion. It was very powerful with a wide arc but was balanced by being somewhat slow and you needed to find a secret area to claim it.

No - you're not the only one feeling paranoid about Johannes. He just gives off a certain vibe that he knows much more than he is letting on and may have ulterior motives. Dominique's statement in her first cutscene "Oh, do you decide for her then?" only cemented my opinion. This is a good sign though; I like characters with a bit of depth.

i wish there was a breakable ceiling, im so curious what abilities we can use to open walls and if this can thatd be one more way to check above and below really quickly I'll have to rewatch a demo playthrough (my computer graphics card died so no demo for me - yet!) but I could have sworn I saw a cracked ceiling at some point. As for destroying floors and ceilings, why not use Miriam's directional spell casting ability for that purpose? In my mind it seems to be the most intuitive method.

Thanks for the advice! To be honest, though, i do not seek special hunts always; only the last few years, i track sales and special deals... I used to buy games fully priced, especially the good old ones. Cheers! You're very welcome! Keep in mind that you may need to run a search several times for games with multiple editions (ie. vanilla, limited edition, Game of the Year, etc.) since the site keeps track of each version separately.

Torchlight 2. When at Steam sales, it was offered for a mere 2 bucks and a bit less, multiple times at that, too. When it arrived on GOG, it was very expensive, rarely put on sales (if ever) and i was waiting for more than 1 year straight, in order to grab it during a good deal, like Steam's. Ultimately, during one sales of GOG, it got the exact same price it used to have on Steam's sales, 2 bucks and a bit more, so i got it immediately. Whenever i need to save some money, or disagree with being treated as a second class citizen, i put my patience to good use. Thankfully, it is near infinite. I have waited for years upon years, waiting for former exclusive to Steam titles, to finally make it to a DRM-Free store, never being tempted to buy them, even dirt-cheap, not even once. You either don't budge, or you do. Little thing called willpower... And obviously, "voting with your wallet"! Err... I got my copy of Torchlight 2 for free on GOG. I can't recall when but it was sometime in 2017. The best site to track sales is "Is There Any Deal". I used it to track games such as War for the Overworld and Dungeons 2 and 3. It gives you an idea how often certain games go on sale (often once every two months give or take) so you roughly plan ahead when the next sale will come up. Also it lets you pick and choose which storefronts to track.

Seeing the state of the demo, I'd say I HOPE for a 2019 release. First quarter, maybe, but it does need more time and polishing. I'm not in a hurry, so I'd have no problems with it. Bloodstained is good but it need to be refined and improved on a few fronts. I feel the same. The demo (which I can't play yet due to computer issues) needs a fair bit of polish and I'd be surprised if it makes it out of the gate for Christmas. I think 1st quarter 2019 seems reasonable.

I agree it's pretty jarring but common in games that feature rainy areas. I always found it amusing to backtrack a little in Resident Evil 4 in the town area. One screen would have pouring rain while the other would not.

I can't stand scalpers but here's a suggestion for those who may want the kickstarter in game exclusives but missed the mark:
War for the Overworld's developers released their backer exclusive content as part of a charity incentive. Perhaps the Bloodstained team could do the same. As an added bonus, it makes for great PR.
