Another Steam sale season!
I'd say I love buying games from Steam, but I'm hesitate to call my Steam library as my "game collection". These are just data saved in a cloud server far away from my own shelf.
But considering the age of PC games with big boxes is long gone (console games still have their legit packaging though), plus there are many indie games are only available with digital download, so what do you guys think?

On a completely unrelated topic, I saw the 505 video again and I found it funny that IGA said "Now that we cannot let everyone down, let's work harder to develop Bloodstained together". Maybe because some other titles *cought* MN9 *cought* didn't end up as expected, the whole gaming world is focused on Bloodstained as the kickstarter redemption lol. They cannot afford to put out a bad game. I cannot imagine the pressure that IGA has right now. Good news is we still have promising projects like Indivisible and Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero on their way.

not mentioning Switch has a big screen (720p or even higher I guess), battery life might be a problem. While I think 720p is enough and they shouldn't go higher than that, this is not a big screen at all though, PSVita has that and most of mid-high end smartphones nowadays have a higher resolution display (killing the battery as expected). I'm not familiar with the new Tegra architecture (only used Tegra 2 on my phone several years ago), not sure whether these chips are powerful enough on par with XB1 / PS4... NV is pretty confident on that tho. Better than PS3, maybe? nVidia claims that Switch is using "the same architecture as the world's top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards.", which is Pascal architecture. If this bold claim is true, then it means that Switch at least is powerful enough to deliver something like "nerfed"-Wii U performance, given the fact that it will be capable of running the new Zelda. Agree on 720p max. An FHD screen with all the computation 3D rendering needs would drain a 3000mAh battery like sipping juice. According to wiki, Tegra X2 achieves 750GFLOPS with FP32, a little weaker than 930M(GM108)'s 790GFLOPS. On the other hand, Wii U's GPU is based on AMD R700 architecture, achieves 352GFLOPS, has TDP of 45W (info from GPUDB). So if they're using Tegra X2, then technically Switch is twice as fast as Wii U. As for power consumption though, Tegra X1 has TDP of 15W (10W in use), X2 might be more or less the same. EDIT: For comparison's sake, here are some other GPUs: PS3 uses RSX, a modified NVIDIA 7800GTX, it could achieve 400GFLOPS.XB360 uses Xenos, which has 240GFLOPS. Adreno 530 (GPU used in Snapdragon 820) has 400~500GFLOPS. Remember these FLOPs are theoretical peak values, and they kinda biased against the actual performance, but at least these numbers could give us an impression about what these chips could do.

Nintendo clears that the dock is only for TV output / charging, so it's not a hybrid console, just another handheld. ( www.theverge.com/2016/10/21/13356760/nintendo-switch-dock-functionality-tv-output-power) If you want great graphics then NVIDIA is definitely the way to go but their devices are somewhat power-consuming, not mentioning Switch has a big screen (720p or even higher I guess), battery life might be a problem. I'm not familiar with the new Tegra architecture (only used Tegra 2 on my phone several years ago), not sure whether these chips are powerful enough on par with XB1 / PS4... NV is pretty confident on that tho. Better than PS3, maybe? If Switch really happens to be a handheld device with console-level performance and decent battery life, it would be Nintendo's killing machine.

Wait a minute...in the update before last, it was stated that they were securing a new "development team" and would be announcing more details soon. Did they instead mean a new publisher, 505, or is there still more coming on that? If this was about publishers all along, then that would answer some questions we had... From what I know, 505 games have also developed their own games So, maybe both "development team" and publishers are 505 games? Uhm, probably not IMO. I'd say 505 only handles the whole PUBLISHING process for BS. The dev team might still be in the "secure process" or IGA hasn't decided yet. BTW, anyone noticed Mana in the video?

Huh, my Subor was black. It nearly had burned to death because of too much Battletoads. Emergency resoldering saved the patient. The stink of the melted plastic was certainly... something. Dendy clones were crazy popular in Russia, much more than the Subor, I think... and the theme jingle was a formiddable earworm. Actually my Subor is a gray one much like those Dandy clones... the one in the picture might be a newer model, idk lol

These carts are kinda common in China (and Russia maybe?) lol We don't have legit copies back then, even the original Nintendo Famicom is a luxury, instead we have these clone consoles manufactured by company named SUBOR (no, it's not a typo), and these WHATEVER-NUMBER-YOU-WANT in 1 cartridges. the almighty SUBOR console Most of these cartridges are bootlegs with some minor changes like changing the sprites, or make the cheat code enabled by default like having 30-lives without input any code in Contra. But some of these changes are... well.. hellish, one-hit-death in Bucky-o-hare for example (and yes, somebody beat it without getting hit, imagine how bored we are lol ) I even don't know Famicom exists until I got Internet connection at home and started playing with emulators...

I started collecting CDs several years ago, but mostly anime / game related like anisongs, doujin music CDs, etc, about one hundred pieces now. I have a dedicated drawer (sadly I don't own a shelf) for these.
I'm more into major / indie rock bands recently though lol
Oh despite of the real CDs I also have some lossless albums, most of them are grabbed from sites like bandcamp.

You know, when I first heard the news, I thought there might be some backlash, too. I was really encouraged by this thread, though. Then I looked at the likes for the video on YouTube: 1713 thumbs up, vs 40 thumbs down. I mean, that's 2.3% of people who disapprove. 2.3 percent. In other words, 97.7 percent of us approve. How do you get better numbers than that? The backer community's really behind IGA. I'd wager most of the negative remarks you'll find are from people who are neither backing nor have any interest in the project in the first place. They'll just jump on any kickstarter project bashing bandwagon they come accross. Best ignore them. Even the Youtube comment section is very soothing, we really really do have a good community.

I remember reading somewhere that SOTN took 4 years to make(someone please confirm this). So even with the new deadline, it'll be 3 years for Bloodstained. One whole year less than SOTN to make a bigger game that launch on xxx platforms. With this in mind, March 2017 release is never a true release date from the beginning. For me personally I'd not even mind if they take 4 years like SOTN. I somehow remember SOTN is a side-project at first... If that's true, 4 years in development seems pretty reasonable.

Two points. 1\ The delay is okay. March 2017 for a game at this scale (with all these additional functions from stretch goals) is almost impossible unless everyone in the dev team is superman and doesn't need to eat and sleep. One year is not a big deal to me. 2\ I wish we could have some clarification about the update, especially about the "additional developers", about who are they, what company are they come from, etc. More people on the project is definitely a good thing (considering there are so many things devs need to do), but at the same time, a bigger team means it's harder to manage. I believe in IGA's experience on choosing people and team management, but hey, more info we have more relieved we areOkay after watching the video I think I'll wait for more. At last, I'm very confident about BS since the E3 demo's out, and I'll still be confident as long as devs keep in touch with us backers regularly.

That video is awesome, I hadn't seen it before. I had intended to only watch it just for the bit you were talking about, but got sucked in for like an hour. This was several days ago, btw haha.
I just wanted to add something that's been on my mind lately. I almost made a new topic about it, but it really does relate fairly heavily to this existing thread.
Many of you out there, what was the first thing you did when you found a new weapon in SotN? You were probably like me and equipped it to see if it had any special attacks. You gave it the back to forward input and the quarter circle forward, met with mild disappointment if it didn't do anything special. This was a large part of the joy of exploration in SotN to me, happening upon new weapons and subsequently happening upon the unique attacks they could do.
My hopes for Bloodstained initially were that it would be a game quite similar, except that when we find one of those weapons with special attacks and attributes we like, we can augment it with crafting so that no weapon we really like falls behind when we eventually get the Crissaegrims, Muramasas, Osafune Katanas (rarely mentioned lol) and Shield Rod/Alucard Shield. If you really liked something obscure that you were attached to mid way through the game, maybe you find materials later in the castle that make it more worthwhile again. Your Moon Rod fires off more moons! The Nunchaku does more hits ands gets a special! The Icebrand/Thunderbrand, not having a Marsil equivalent, can still become strong elemental weapons with enhancements.
That was the main variety/collection style I was looking for. I'm not as into demon abilities and shard skills. I love weapons and specials. The two things don't necessarily have to be mutually exclusive, what I'm talking about may actually still be in the game, but unfortunately I can see it downplayed to some degree in favor of various enemy abilities. At the very least, maybe Zangetsu or the third playable character will be more SotN with a fleshed out weapon system in the way I'm describing.
Part of why I arrived at these thoughts and ideas was from the emphasis on weapon voting, concept arts and crafting information early on. I'm not saying I'm disappointed yet, even, but just wanted to voice my feelings on all this. Some of my biggest issues with SOTN was that a lot of these secrets were obtusely hidden to the point it was unlikely you were to reasonably stumble upon them (especially if you did have a guide or were talking with others) and that the game never gave you much inventive to really explore and master your arsenal. Lots of stuff was either "that was cool but I never need to use this so I'm just going to stick with what's simple or gives me the largest attack boost" or game-breaking degenerate (hello Shield Rod). Order of Ecclesia is a game I remember, though to be fair its been a while since I played it, that was challenging enough that you really had to change up your plan of attack or equipped glyphs and glyph combinations to succeed. It won't matter if Bloodstained has all the cool weapons and techniques in the world if I can steamroll the game on standard or ever Nightmare difficulty just based on weapon stats or never feeling the pressure to actually experiment. I know its a point I've belabored in the past but I do hope its something they are keenly aware of when balancing Bloodstained and designing enemies & enemy patterns. I'm not asking for obnoxious or impossible challenges - just challenges at all TLDR: SOTN had a lot of content (I agree with you that its a super cool aspect of the game) under the surface but it never really encouraged you to use it or reward you for taking the time to experiment. Agreed on every word you mentioned about OoE. That game almost enforce you to try different glyph combinations and strategies otherwise you'll be in trouble pretty soon. I'd be really happy if IGA could ramp up the difficulty for BS compared with SoTN (but OoE-level of hard might be too much )
