How about we start a Kickstarter to hire Ayami Kojima as the main artist for Bloodstained?
Hey Kim Lambert I feel where you're coming from, but the problem or obstacle wasn't money but scheduling and her availability. Also, at this late stage it would be problematic probably when it came to fan expectations as well, as many would undoubtedly misunderstand and believe she would be doing more than marketing art, which isn't the case here.
I think a lot of people got very confused like myself because for example in Facebook, some pages says Mana´s art is going to replace Natsume-san / DICO art, others says is just for marketing, others even says that the Mana´s art piece is already chosen as the official cover art of the game, so people come here and vote without even knowing what it´s really going on and i find that a bit unfair for all of us because we were given different information, i also read that the OP says that DICO did all what we are seeing lately, like the characters and monsters, but then the official staff says that all of that were done years ago when the KickStarter began, so... i don´t get it, are a lot of contradictions, if that´s true why even the official BloodStained page in Facebook and the official Youtube channel says before that all were new characters and designs, why if they "did" that artwork years ago they never show it until now? the information is just very different.
Hi there@valtiel86 I'm sorry if there's some confusion, but remember, this poll was started by the community and it was born out of excitement and passion, so unfortunately I couldn't really curate the messaging, I found out about it after it was already blowing up. To answer some of your questions, I can confirm that if Mana becomes more involved in the art of the game, it would purely be for marketing art at this point. Which is something that I'm going to need soon anyway. Because right now I don't have anyone I can go to for that. As for the art that Dico has done, it has all been internal concept art done for the development needs of the game. Although the fans have seen some of this art, none of it is "marketing assets". You may see the concept art, but I'm not going to use it for a Bloodstained website, or the box art, or any other mass consumer market like online ads etc. That's what I meant when I said that all the art out there has been done by Inticreates a long time ago at the start of the campaign. Speaking of, just in case it wasnt clear, since Inticreates is no longer on Bloodstained, no one should worry about "betraying" or "changing" from the old artist to a new one, because no Inticreates = no old artist, the choice here is "do you want Mana doing marketing art or do you want someone else that is not the previous artist and is not Mana".
And to anyone who thinks we should get the old artist, let me just say that there is no way I would approve that, as having Inticreates on the project again, in any capacity, would create a branding and marketing nightmare for me, where I would have to come up with a way to combat the inevitable confusion, misunderstandings, and outright lies that would be generated about the game as a result. (spoiler alert: I would never be able to fully undo the damage done. Can you imagine the click bait articles? "Embattled Bloodstained developer changes dev team...AGAIN" etc etc bla bla bla )
I hope that clears things up a bit, and thank you as always for being such a passionate fan!
I have made an account just for this, like many other people, but I am sorry to say it is because I am not a fan of this proposal.
First of all, I am in the same position as Valtiel in that I partly backed this for a lot of money because I liked the original art. Mana’s art is fine, but it is not what I was looking at when I decided to back this. I think Natsume's faces are strong, and there are key details like Miriam’s two tone hair that show up well in his work. I don't hate Mana's work, it's nice for what it is, but it's not what I would wanted to have seen when I backed this project.
I understand that Natsume is no longer on the project, but based on what we have been given since he left, I am good with the way things have proceeded since. And if you argue that we have not seen enough of DICO's artistic contributions, then I suggest we maybe.... wait and see what those are like? In the original post, you say you have reason to believe they will not be a strong as Mana's art. Are you seeing artwork that the rest of us haven't yet? If so, this is still just your opinion in stating that it isn't what's going to make this game do well, and it is very unfair of you to load up the front page with Mana's work, and show very little of even Natsume's work, let alone DICO's.
The biggest problem I have with all this is that it is, frankly, bullying. "We the fans have backed for a lot of money, so we are entitled to tell you which artists to use, and how the direction of this game's art should proceed". If IGA wants to know how the fans feel on this matter, he will ask us. This is not taking into account how other fans feel, those who have backed for a lot of money as well (such as myself and Valtiel), and those in other communities. And when you have so many people here gushing about Mana's art, it is rather intimidating to say anything. I know I may get responses along the lines of "oh he doesn’t have to use her", but the way this is all set up is already very pushy. The original post is stating that Mana's art is crucial to the success of Bloodstained and that "IGA is good with DICO continuing but I have reason to believe this is due to cost." We haven't even heard anything from Mana on all this, to boot. What is her opinion on all of this? Does she even want this position?
I know this push was probably made with the best of intentions, but as it stands, I’m not very comfortable with it. IGA should make the game he wants to make, with the artists representing it that he wants.
Hi there amduscias , thanks for your passion and feedback! Regardless of what art you like more, I hope I can clear up some things for you.
All the official art you have seen up until this point were the old assets that were created during the start of the campaign, I'm not sure what you mean by how the art has proceeded since then, since we haven't had any new official assets created. This is the first official Bloodstained marketing asset that we've had made since way back then.
In regards to DICO, their art has all been internal concept art, made expressly for the purpose of development, nothing has been used as public facing marketing assets.
I appreciate your concern for the appearance of bullying etc., but I really would entreat you not to worry about that or see it that way. We at 505 and Iga/ArtPlay are ALWAYS hungry for feedback from the fans, regardless what the feedback is specifically about. Iga has always said that he welcomes requests and feedback of any kind, even though in the end he considers it, and will decide whether or not to incorporate feedback.
As for Mana herself, well I can't speak for her, but we may veer into over complicating things if we start to ask what ifs like whether or not she wants to take a more leading role in making marketing assets for the game. This is a fan poll after all, and we're always listening. Just like Iga will consider these kinds of requests, Mana would consider whether or not she wants to do it if Iga asks her to.
Finally, just to reiterate, rest assured that Iga is making the game he wants, from A to Z. I'm in charge of publishing, and I have requested a few things for the game, but Iga always has final say on what goes in the game or not.
Here fans are asking that Mana be involved in making *marketing* art assets in the future, which I actually will need one way or another haha.
Anyway hope that helps clear things up for you and/or anyone else, not trying to tell you what to think or anything.

Based on her art, it looks like her style would work well.
Although, I think the biggest thing from this is this quote:
IntiCreates isn't involved in the main game anymore.
Wut? I can remember other developers got involved, but I didn't know they fully replaced IntiCreates. I hope the development for the game is going fine as it's unusual for a developer to be fully replaced.
Hey there fluffyquack , you may have missed it, but IntiCreates was replaced as the main support developer a long time ago by DICO. It was all public news and was talked about basically anywhere and everywhere games are discussed.
Development for the game is going absolutely fine, no worries, although it is unusual for a developer to be replaced, it should be a sign that Iga doesn't mess around and he knows what he wants in order to make this game the revival we all hope for.

May ask to IGA team to add brazilian portuguese on the game, the game received more backers from brazil than spain, if it support spanish lang then it should support brazilian portuguese too.
XombieMike I would really appreciate if you could send this feedback to the Team.
Thanks for your support and your feedback hyperspeed ! We're definitely aware of all our international fans and we're working hard to make sure as many languages as possible are included. Keep an eye out for an official announcement on all the supported languages in the future!

Don't consider this an entry for obvious reasons, but just to share, I think a moment that stands out to me was when Alucard is in the dream sequence imposed upon him by the succubus. It really blew my mind that a "mere 2D game" could draw me into the story so much and make me feel like I was there.
Maybe because I have had a lot of dreams like that myself lol.
(things not being the way they should, not dreaming that I'm Alucard hehe)
Hey guys Can someone show me a good example of typical "Dico-artstyle" that would be replaced / changed with Mana's art?
Hi Yuri Zahard if Mana were to become more involved with the art and creation of marketing assets for Bloodstained it wouldn't be replacing anything, neither DICO or anyone else. The art the DICO has made so far has been along the lines of necessary concept art for the creation of in game assets. Nothing that we've used as public facing materials.
I mentioned this in a post earlier in this thread; I'm in charge of Bloodsatined publishing and I don't have anyone right now designated as my "artist" on the game. So I can't go to anyone and say "I need this art thing for this reason bla bla bla".
People are asking for Mana to become that person and fill that gap. Hope that helps.
Mana is indeed very busy, but her workload is more tolerable now that I've effectively taken over community management duties until we fill the community manager role we're hiring for here at 505 Games.
The need for marketing and promotional art would not consume all of Mana's duties. It would be on a "as needed" basis, and giving her plenty of time in advance to fulfill on it and do her other duties as the communication manager for ArtPlay.

The initiative of the community never ceases to amaze me. I just got alerted to this thread and poll and it's amazing to see the amount of support and love for Mana and her art, all of it extremely well deserved.
I'll let this run its course, but I would like to clarify things a bit.
As far as art and assets, everything we have that is public facing is either left over from the original campaign made by IntiCreates, who haven't worked on Bloodstained for quite some time now, or has been concept art etc. made by DICO with Iga supervising of course, as a matter of necessity during development. As of right now, as the person in charge of publishing for the game, I don't have someone I can go to and tell them "make me 'x' art asset, I need it for 'y' reason".
So I hope everyone will vote without worrying about any lack of respect to Natsume or dismissal of their role in the past. We never forget or dismiss our collaborators, whether they still work with us today or not. And in this case, since we haven't worked with IntiCreates in a long time, it's not a matter of transitioning from one artist to another, much less forcing Iga to change directions, or anything like that as I've seen some imply.
Finally, the art assets that we will still be needing in the future for Bloodstained will indeed be, as some have guessed, marketing and promotional materials. So no one has to worry about some crazy drastic change to the art style of the game or anything.

Hello everyone!
What an exciting time it is for Bloodstained! No one expected us to be at New York Comic Con, and now ANOTHER surprise:
The wonderfully talented Mana Ikeda of ArtPlay has created her first piece of official Bloodstained art! (pictured below)
This art will be used to create an exclusive limited run of medium size free art prints that will be given to attendees of New York Comic Con that come to the booth at 10:30 every day, where they will have the chance to get the print signed by the man himself, Koji Igarashi. (limit to 1 per person for all four event days, we will be ID checking/tracking to avoid duplicate recipients)
Now on to the burning question that I can either imagine or I have already seen pop up...
"What about all us fans who can't go to NYCC Angel? Do you not love us anymore??!?!!!1111!!!"
Quite the contrary, my love for you all grows with every passing day lol. Seriously though, this will be exclusive to NYCC in terms of "the experience/how you get it" as well as small details relative to NYCC. So it's going to be free, if you attend you're going to get to meet Iga and have him sign this for you live, as well as contain some text about being an exclusive "Bloodstained at NYCC 2017" item etc.
But my plan is to also make this art available in as many ways to as many fans as possible. It would be a shame not to do so, seeing as how Mana created such an amazingly beautiful work of art.
I can't confirm anything now and say "we will do this or that", but to loop everyone in on the possibilities, I'm going to be reaching out to our friends such as Fangamer/Sanshee/etc. to see if we can sell things like large high quality prints, among other possibilities. I'm also looking to do things like release Desktop and Mobile backgrounds (for free ofc), super high resolution versions, all kinds of stuff.
Feel free to leave your suggestions and questions here, and I will answer you as soon as I can and as honestly as I can.
And be sure to share your love for Mana and her art if you like this! Too many times we think the artist will take it as pandering or "they already know" how great we think their art is, but they don't! So fire away with everything you got, let her (and us) know what you feel about the art!

Angel-Corlux - New York Comic-Con starts literally a week from today. You don't have much time to announce stuff unless you want to leave it a surprise for the show floor
As an aside, good use of that now famous Deku Gif
Hey there crocodile yeah the announcement that we'll be there is meant to give people some time before the actual event.
There will be another announcement tomorrow (Monday) and then more announcements later! Both for things we are doing during New York Comic Con and after!
And thanks, I love that series, Deku's one of my favorites for sure
Hey Enkeria it actually wasn't meant as comic relief, there are more awesome things that are going to be announced this week, things that will be awesome both for people at the event and for Bloodstained fans everywhere even after it's long done.
Having said that, we do have a TON of interviews and stuff like that, more than I think we've ever done at a single event....gonna be nuts and so much work lol
One thing that has been set as a goal, but we've not heard much of, is the Bloodstained prequel game. I admit I don't remember much about it, and it is likely only a taste of this things to come, but I do have some questions about it, since we have not heard much else other than its existence.
1. Will we be seeing it before or after release?
2. Is it more like a demo or an old flash minigame in terms of length?
3. Is it being worked on in tandem with Bloodstained or set to be worked on after Bloodstained is near completion?
4. Is mystery man in it?
5. Are Miriam and Gebel in it?
Hi Neff, unfortunately both contractually and operationally 505 Games isn't working on or responsible for the prequel game, as they're solely being developed and published by Inticreates. So keep that in mind as background context to the following answers to your questions:
1. It's still to early to talk about this, but you will know more when release dates are being announced
2. It's not really my place to talk about the prequel games and their features etc., it would be like as if Inticreates or another company started talking officially about Bloodstained, I would shut that down immediately, and would rightfully expect Inti to do the same with the prequel game.
3. See above 1 & 2
4 & 5. Those kinds of details are up to Igarashi-san and Inticreates, so while I may bee aware of many things regarding the prequel game, as mentioned above, it's not my place to talk about them.
Sorry I couldn't give you more satisfying answers but as always, at least they're true answers

I prefer the team to be focused on making a great game then to satisfy our thirst for meaty and frequent updates. I also look forward to them, but I believe in IGA and that is enough for me. I can't wait to play the game! It makes me so happy just to think about those moments of exploring a new Igavania
I am not sure if it was confirmed or not, but I will repeat I hope we can play the game with Japanese voice acting and English subtitles. That is how I would like to play the game for the first time.
In my opinion this Kickstarter project is already so much more than I could have expected. The game itself is a dream come true, and the updates have been exciting to follow. The communication between us supporters/fans and IGA, i.e. his teams behind the project (Mana, Angel, Fangamer) is also much more than I could have imagined.
P.S. I forgot to mention I also love this forum/community, I come here daily. I already have Bloodstained flowing in my veins
Thanks for clearing up the alpha/beta/demo stuff. It's good to have closure on something that kept bugging me because we didn't have info on it. Now I can chill out about that.
Thanks for the reply Angel-Corlux. I've been thinking about this update some more, and I feel a bit bad about coming down hard on it. While I may not be familiar with these Japanese voice actors, it is clear (based on comments from others and my own information-gathering-run-around on the net) that zero plugs are being left in place when it comes to getting Bloodstained "on the level."
The IGAvaniacs here on the forum (myself included) are like a back of hungry wolves pacing back and forth below their masters gate, waiting for scraps of wall-meat to be thrown down. What we really want is the full meal (and to sit around afterward, licking our paws with a full belly).
Man, I'm hungry now for some reason......
It's my pleasure, and don't worry about criticizing something, or being a bit harsh sometimes, apart from what I mentioned, we've all been there, where we're so passionate about something and we care about it so much, so it's much easier to be hard on it/the team behind it/etc. I've been there myself a few times.
BalancedHydra that actually looks really cool haha...bloodstained jetpack, here we come lol
kronfarfar glad you liked it! It's all a learning process of course, and although we obviously wouldn't have included everything I sad here, the next time we'll definitely keep that in mind and try to anticipate how people might not care too much about a specific update, or take advantage of the moment to loop people in to some transparency etc. Thanks for your feedback and patience!

Hello everyone! Wow so many things to cover, concerns to address, and excitement to celebrate, let me take a crack at it and hopefully I'll be able to touch on everyone's comments and feelings, even if I don't reply directly to each poster.
And of course, needless to say, that whether I touch on your particular comment or concern, please feel free to reach out to me with your thoughts, good or bad, I want to hear it all. I may not always be able to tell you something that will make you feel better, but I will tell you the truth. (unless it's a spoiler that would get me fired )
Ok so let's open with a positive, I see Galamoth , freddyk and lots of others are excited that Ami Koshimizu and so many top tier names are on board, and speaking myself, I'm a HUGE fan of anime, so seeing this A-list cast being the final roll call really got me pumped too! So much great talent, that it makes me wish there were a Bloodstained anime....
All right let's tackle some disappointment too of course, estebant made me legit laugh with his "maybe they forgot we don't speak Japanese" comment lol, I don't know if you realize, but that's very Italian humor haha.
Jokes aside, I see not only Estebant but quite a few people express disappointment with this update, including CastleDan and kronfarfar among others, and I would like to stress that that's totally understandable and OK, as it's only normal that some updates/announcements/etc. are going to be more exciting for certain people than others. We're all huge fans here after all, and we all just want the game and launch experience to be the best it can be. So if you think you're gonna be banned or w/e because of your criticisms, nothing could be further from the truth. Just keep it respectful and try to be constructive, we are all humans with hearts, doing our best and everything at the end of the day lol.
But before you write this off as not giving a damn and not coming back for months, I would like to clarify for everyone that this update marks both the resuming of official KickStarter updates, as well as the beginning of my plan to provide a steady and continuous "flow" of information, announcements, teases, and just communication in general.
That doesn't mean that you should expect a KickStarter update every week, but it does mean that for everyone who follows us here on the forums, on Twitter, Facebook, Discord and Reddit, you will get to enjoy a lot of communication that should (hopefully) never leave you feeling like nothing interesting is happening or that you're left in the dark about development progress.
Another part of this "flow" is that I'm working with Fangamer to establish a regular schedule from here until launch and beyond, so KickStarter updates will come regularly and reliably, so you won't be able to pinpoint and say "the next KS update will be on this day" but you should be able to say "the next KS update should be during this week/period".
Now let me say a word or two on the much hyped and discussed alpha, beta, etc. Yes, it's true that it was mentioned during some live interviews in the past by Iga about how he would have liked to give an alpha during an August window. However, I can confirm that that (obviously) didn't happen and we won't be releasing a playable build to the public this month either.
I know that's a bummer, but here's the carrot: I am confirming here that the plan I've crafted for Bloodstained will result in backers getting at least two playable builds before launch. I won't go into too much detail here because I'm still in the process of working lots of specifics out with the team and my producer, but I think I can reliably tell you that the first playable build will either be the E3 2017 demo or an updated demo we use at events in the near future, and the other build we give you before launch will probably have more of that "beta" feel, with tons, if not all of the game systems and mechanics in place, and the beginnings of polish applied, so everyone can inundate us (lol) with all the feedback that I'm sure we will all have for Iga and co. Look forward to more news and communications to regarding this outside of this thread.
Hopefully the above helps fans like DSLevantine - you can rest assured that whether or not we have talked about something, our commitment to you all is rock solid.
To answer concerns raised by Redogan and others, I regret if my interview led to people thinking earth shattering content was coming right away, I was trying to express my enthusiasm for ALL the crazy awesome things that I know will come, and all the surprises that I know nobody expects, that I'm working on. (very diligently! )
And as far as game play snippets, audio clips etc., there's a very good reason why you didn't see that in the update, it's generally bad to throw snippets of content out there into the wild, with no context, separate from the game at this stage. Since we're no longer in the early KS phase of the game, but we're actually about to start the full marketing campaign, everything we show you of the game, whether in a KS update or in a trailer etc., needs to be coherently presented, one of the reasons why is because the closer we get to launch, the more "outside" people will be exposed to our content. So while you may think a single monster and its animation being revealed is pretty cool (for example) a non-backer will likely have the opposite reaction.
Now lets move on to some rumor squashing, inspired by ZeroSbr haha
Also for the sake of everyone's sanity (including mine) here are some black and white statements:
- Nothing that was confirmed for the game has been cut - Development is on schedule and continuing successfully - The recent slow down in communication is now over, and happened because the dev team was focusing on making the game vs. communicating about it - We will be revealing the English voice actors as well
and talking directly to ZeroSbr, it's ok if most of your posts on here are negative (see above) hopefully my clarifications here help with that a little.
And to anyone who may see this update as "low effort", we actually had this update done (in terms of putting it together) last month, but we had to wait for approval from the VA agencies to display the actors portraits in the way you see, in the update you got. That's not meant as an excuse for anything, but rather it helps explain how sometimes there may be some circumstances that condition us to do things a certain way. So please no one worry about people being stretched too thin or anything like that.
For comparison, it would be like me hyping an update where we announce Bloodstained Sneakers, and people say "but it's just a picture and a few sentences". Like, yeah, but there's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes too lol
Hm...what else...lemme think...oh right, I saw crocodile wondering if Bloodless would have an actress, and she does! It's actually Saori Goto
XombieMike oh my God haha that reference...I can't wait until the parody/documentary with DeFranco comes out haha
What else, what else...
Pure Miriam wow talk about being on a streak, so far all the comments I remember from you have been pretty spot on. A lot of what you said is correct, with a caveat being that not all future updates will be like this, there will be some that focus more on game content, others that talk about exciting things that aren't directly pulled from the game.
phew...this was a bit of a longer reply, hope I didn't kill anyone's eyes with my wall o' text
As I mentioned feel free to let me know if anyone has other questions or concerns, if I missed something, or if you just want to say hi lol.
I think I'll wrap this up by saying a few things:
Everything I've said (as always) is me trying to be as honest and transparent as possible, but please also consider that things can always change, if they do I/we will communicate with you openly and honestly about it. So if later we announce something that is different or conflicts with things said here, it's not me being a filthy scummy evil publisher overlord, it's just things change sometimes and we'll do our best to tell you when they do, why, and how it's for the best.
Oh and even though every update/announcement etc. will have some people caring more than others, I would just like to point out that regardless of whether you watch anime, or whether you'll even ever play the game with JP audio, the simple fact that Iga and co. got such an A-list star studded cast for the JP voice acting should tell everyone just how much care and quality is going into this game. Think of it like a European fan hearing about how we did some crazy awesome event at a PAX in the U.S., they don't really care for obvious reasons, but they should still be pleased that it means the game is going strong and doing the right things to be great!
And I've heard the cries, I will personally try to better moderate the use of "soon" when I talk about things, and give better focused time frames of something being "soon" meaning any time between tomorrow and a few months from now. On everyone else's part, if you can try and meet me half way and understand that there are SO many things I wish I could talk about and can't, that if I went into "explanations" on each of them of what exactly "soon" means, then that's probably all I'd ever do lol.
Finally, I think I saw someone worrying about the budget, all I can really say about this right now is that budget is definitely not a problem, Iga and co. have all the resources they need, we always make sure of it, and it's all planned out way in advance (like all development) to make sure that they don't run into some huge bottleneck or kill themselves with work half way through a milestone (checkpoint in game dev terms).
Anyway, now I'm done hehe. Hope everyone is having a great weekend, and you should all look forward to more news this coming week....
....
and then the week after that too...
ooo feel that flow...so crisp...so nice...

LeoLeWolferoux: How am I just now finding out about this/ C'mon, IGN. Get it together.

Redogan: Nice to see a project update! I like the new Classic 2.0 mode with Dominique. Looks like it plays like a traditional CV game--which is a good thing. Glad to see some gameplay video of Chaos and VS modes, too!
Sept 6, 2023 18:16:32 GMT -6
ShroudedTraveler: Did they say when they were releasing the update with Dominique? I don't recall seeing anything in the video, so I'm assuming not
Sept 7, 2023 16:40:01 GMT -6
Redogan: I didn't see anything about the release date. I just know that it is paid DLC. (So, us backers don't get it for free. Which is fine.)
Sept 8, 2023 16:54:52 GMT -6
ShroudedTraveler: Yeah. At this point, with the game being as old as it is, I'd be fine paying for the content.
