I am sorry to say that the blue color for a font was a bad choice. I got to squint to see the words.
Special Shops? Maybe in the village instead.
The teleportation room... I had an idea about the save room being a safe room where Miriam could use a special pendant (acquired from the start) and be able to warp from there, even her room (I originally felt that the only save point would be there too). You could then choose to warp back to any safe rooms, with a listing of all you've visited so far, including the latest. The art and book I thought about too, I wanted them to be in Miriam's room as well.
I'd rather have special guests in a secret room, visiting it by pure chance can prove annoying (and I do play that sort of games. Yume 2kki is the current one).
The other randomized features don't inspire me so much... Maybe a training room then? As for the random loot, it should be about a low-level gift. Why not have a NPC giving them periodically instead? Spamming visits would be not good, trust me. "A faerie assigned to Gift will grant the player an item upon visit. The item granted depends on the amount of time spent between each visit. The more fairies you assign, the more gifts you can get." Source: Faerie Village, Breath of Fire wiki (wikia). Feature from Breath of Fire III. Well, I don't think we need more than one NPC giving you presents. ^^
Oh and I truly wished that the NPCs in Miriam's room would be special familiars... Her childhood friends, with thier soul saved, but their appearance being different. More in my own post about familiars, in Pure Miriam's dedicated thread.
Bye bye!

Now all we need are flight goggles for Trevor, a fake beard for Sypha ("disguise"), as well as a skateboard and sunglasses for Alucard. Captain N anachronism!!!I died a little inside.* That said, sunglasses for Alucard... he already got them in CSOTN (Alchemy Lab). Are they Ray Bans? *Just joking, I didn't live where Captain N: The Game Master was aired. So glad for it. We did get the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! though, and I freaking loved it. In regards to the violent content, relevant to what you and XombieMike said, once a proper rating and warning have been plastered*, I feel it it can go ahead without much worries. Castlevania I feel gave balanced levels of violence and erotica... I had not heard any stories of outraged people camping against the series or an entry. Ah, yes, I should have meant the original series, not the umm... totally odd pachislot spin-offs something, something. I'll check the vid when I have more free time. Thanks. Yes, I did hear about the pachislots, but only about that Angela character. I guess I missed the fanservice bits regarding that. Watched the video. You win. I don't know why he was so hyper but that was epic. And that Bloodstained reference. Twice.

Astaroth Fair enough, I did that in one of the save rooms. You could even play roulette, as in guessing which item would drop next. Quite fun. @yän Well you know, when the characters take a bad hit and you enter the menu to spam the few potions they got to nurse them back to a proper HP number. I felt that at times they took hits a bit too easily and for a lot. It is strange since I like to make characters grind (in any game) until they are strong enough to tackle bosses.

It's a marvelous use of a spiked shield. Do you dig that extended-upon Charging Star? I sure do!
I haven't seen much of moves involving a shield in any game ever (even in fighting games), so it's their chance to shine!
I received my survey yesterday, completed it one hour ago. Happy.

Thanks purifyweirdshard , this is even clearer to me now. No kiddie stuff, at all. The development is not the same. That's very relieving for news. And since he's airing it on Netflix, kids aren't going to be subject to that. It's better that way. Yes, but Konami trying to make a series relevant after messing so much with it was what I was trying to say. There was not too much to learn from CV 3 since it is a NES game. Even booklets in such games spread false information. Were it in a later era, I am sure there would be a more developed story and character interactions. As for Judgment, I do beleive we should not take anything from it to use as lore material. It's a crazy what-if, with some Castlevania characters gone absurd. In fact, the coolest story there may be the Golem's. We all began the Castlevania series for its uniqueness, primarily the setting, playability, colorful cast of characters and monsters, tense moments and so on. It is always fun to ask a longtime player why he/she loved some game series or individual games. I am certain there are more qualified games if you want sheer violence or side-nudity (statues, lightly-clothed enemy female creatures and so on). I mean, they don't even play a role in the game. It is all right. What is blood? A miserable little pile of hemoglobin and cells! But enough talk~ have at you? In sum, the art seems promising, but I will sit and wait for it to develop. I have learned to not get hyped upon things (except when it came to certain projects like the one we are all involved in right now). *And the occasional light censorship like in Super Castlevania IV.

Pure Miriam Let's hope you're right. In that aspect, Order of Ecclesia was very challenging (and I felt that Shanoa was quite squishy). It was a difficulty level many enjoyed, nonetheless. I felt many times it ended being a survival game set in a Castlevania world. In CSOTN, I never used potions. I relied on trying my best to not get hit at all, plus you needed jewels or money bags to buy what you needed (and I only aimed for the obligatory items like the Jewel of Open or Castle Map) some equips to gain advantage, such as accessories and cloaks and of course the Duplicator. I only bought the other pieces of equipment for my collection when I needed nothing else. Using food was awkward too (Ticket meal? Drop food on the floor and walk to it?* Really?), so I didn't use them either. Then there was this hidden trick. Overusing it meant a zero challenge game. In Portrait of Ruin, Vincent was selling potions. That said, Jonathan and Charlotte were the squishy duo too. Wasn't the cap at 9 for items there? I felt overwhelmed by some bosses in there too (yet way less than in OoE) 99 would totally kill the game too. The only moment of overkill healing was that Skull Bartender. You still had to know what to expect and do to not die from his "attacks", though. He was at a very specific room anyway.** Overall, healing self is indeed tricky in the Castlevania series, far from the convenience found in Final Fantasy games. If the cap of potions is maintained at 99, I picture people like Astaroth and @goobsausage trying to max it out (hey to you two!). Frankly, I wouldn't do that. Maybe Nightmare mode would be more manageable... but then it wouldn't be a nightmare, just some disturbing little dream (I just hope I will be able to handle that mode a little). And yes, the demo was pretty lenient in handing recovery items. You wouldn't even need them if you control Miriam correctly. Of course it shouldn't be that easy in the final version. *Then there were peanuts. Cool but totally ineffective during battle. Total madness. **"This one's for YOU!". You'd smack him and he'd slide all the way then crash on the floor. Good fun times.

Talking specifically about potions, i did some other tests on the DEMO, just to verify something. The game may have a 99 item cap. But how much does the potions heal? Some Igavania games had fixed values, while some others had % values. I tested all avaliable potions on the demo, at LV 3 and LV 4 and could confirm that they are not % based, they are fixed. Here are their healing values: potion: +50 HP high potion: +100 HP ether: +20 MP high ether:+50 MP Thanks to a bug, people were able to level grind Miriam on the Demo (you can see that here). There seems to be some conflicting values (which could show a small random number inside leveling stats) but, considering that, her HP and MP values at some levels, are, as follows: Level 15: HP 288 / MP 190 Level 25: HP 408 / MP 270 Level 50: HP 708 / MP 470 Level 99: HP 1296 / MP 862 With that info, we can have some idea of the impact on the game for 99 potions item cap. Even so, if they are hard to find and / or expensive, those things may not matter too much. Interesting. These HP and MP values aren't high at all, for lv 99. It reminds me of what you would get in CSOTN. To make potions fully insignificant even if you were to get 99 of them, you'd have to multiply both MP and HP levels by ten (which is not the case here), but it would be rather unforgiving for a beginning. Now you said that you obtained 10 of them... A cap of 99 would be more likely then. For me, given the leaked temporary(?) data, to be balanced the cap for potions (at least) would be 9 and nothing else? I kind of see what Yän meant now. But again, it's a demo. It might be totally different in the end, still I have yet to see a demo of a game and a final product having totally different data values.

Full edit: I bypassed that article about the super violent, dark Castlevania adaptation... twice. I guess I lacked sleep then. That's pretty strange for two articles to describe it all differently, between one talking about kids'-targeted venture and one maybe risking censorship for going too far... Konami's pulling a Capcom on us all and tries to capitalize on Castlevania some more because they saw how popular Bloodstained has been in its backing. Ah, the power of $_$... What is hype? *Glass crash noise* A miserable little pile of collective excitement! But enough talk, have at you!

-Half-sarcastic post, please do not take it seriously-
"...Inspired by a classic video-game series" *shudders* Does inspired means freedom of adapting whatever he wants? May this guy be damn experimented in the animation for youngsters field, I hope his project will not be stained by madness in the end.
*Reads some more* "This is my next venture into kids' programming". Castlevania for kids...? I'm at loss for words. That said, if he pulls it properly, I shall praise him for this crazy gamble.
Bonus: Mega Man, TV Series (2017) and its Ruby Spears adaptation or Avatar the Last Airbender live action movie, not to mention the Dragonball one for strange visions of old franchises. Not so glorious.
Edit: Super violent? That second article gave me a full 180° on how I perceive it. It will be overkill violent then censored, maybe?

It's a tough call. Will the developer team fight until the end to bring Bloodstained on the Wii U and please all backers on it, or go towards the Switch because they find it an impossible gamble (and because the new console will be more tailored to their ambition and engine)?
I am sure they know what's at stake and won't go daredevil. That said, time is slowly running out on it. They'd better choose now or risk critical delay-forcing decisions towards the public (and this will surely be badly received).
A terrible dilemma, in a nutshell.

...Only a certain series got a very strange item limit, which is 15 for the Tales series. Gladly spells are powerful and reliable enough so you don't really go insane when low on them (even the recent ones like Zestiria and Berseria don't rely on TP anymore! -the equivalent of MP-)

For Chrono, the DS felt better than PSX. No animation sequences but new dungeons and weapons and armor (typical SE port). Just handheld version is a 'take it or leave it's kind of thing. Flash cartridges are far superior to disk support only exception is the Gamecube, of which I too still own. Fantastic device, but I digress. For X, Day of Sigma was a great addition. The cinematics were good. Not as good as the original style that was used during the games advertising. But X fighting Vile is just different. Vile mode sad fun, more difficult due to playability but it was treated as a stand alone with its own animations. Lots of set up for MHX 2 that never made it. Also I mentioned it's art style being chibi like. Not exactly chibi. Bigger heads, arms and legs. Smaller torso. To emphasize the character on a smaller screen. It just didn't feel the same artistically when compared to a sprite counter part. I didn't really like Powered Up, beyond artstyle. Only a little bit is worth while for a returning fan. And I mean returning being older. Growing up with the franchise. I just had different expectations than what was delivered. I liked the X series overall. But my favorites were X3, X5 and X6. With X8 right there. The others didn't have a whole lot going when compared to others. X2 was fun for what it was. X4 was a nice addition especially to the world. But X7 just hurt. And never finished Command Mission. I fear any remakes if done without care and charm... There have been quite a number of remakes. I listed the 4 to emphasize my points of view on port/remake/rebuilt/reimagine. What titles could you list that are worthy of mention? Ah yes, I had forgotten Nintendo uses flash cartridges now... That's pretty powerful. They're truly small and easy to lose, though. Like contact lenses, but quite more expensive. Game advertising? Dang, I missed that entirely. Ah, then it's deformed. Chibi is akin to Super Deformed, which focuses on cuteness. I don't think MHX is cute though. *grins* I didn't finish Command Mission either. I gained access to the final level, but I had to return to my home country back then (end of studies) so I never had the chance to try it. I'd need another copy to go for it. I'll go lazy on it, but I'd not trust Capcom anymore when it comes to remakes (they did announce they'd revive old franchises of theirs*). The same goes for companies of yore. But who knows, if that is successful? *After Mighty n°9 ended being a mixed bag to the world. Quite the timing. I would have said "Freaking finally!!" normally. Then they blew our minds by putting X in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. Old franchises to give a new life in? With what they did to Breath of Fire (BoF 6 precisely)? Ummm... I don't know.

To Zechs: Chrono Trigger for PS1, a good port? If you don't count the stupid loading times for accessing the menu, then yes. I loved the extras for it. After that, the retcon to be directly linked to Chrono Cross irked me. Megaman X? Not a good remake? You sure? You should check Megaman: Maverick Hunter X. I got it, it's plain kickass. I prefer it so much more than Megaman: Powered Up. Never really tried Oddworld, besides a demo of Abe's Oddyssey (briefly). I can't say much about it. As for Earthworm Jim, it's really a loss. I loved the second, which I still got the cartridge of for Super Nintendo. For Chrono Trigger, I was counting extras (including animations) as well as DS port. Not solely PSX port. Many SNES to PSX ports suffered load issues. Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre had similar issues. I own both original X and remake MHX. Given that, the remake is still the lesser version. I won't bother with the cell phone "remake". Remake is slower and less responsive, more pop take to the music (preference opinion), with difference of outcome triggers when concerning Vile fights (that used to require X to be defeated). As well as artistic sequence and art style (Vile jumps out of plane, not just falls after it goes by. Less liking to the more chibi aimed style, not exactly chibi but more influenced). I could go on. I'm not saying it is bad, I'm just saying it lacks charm and care the original had. The original had pizaz that lacked as soon as X2. Oddworld was fantastic either way. Not much discrepancy with response. The team maintained the care they had when rebuilding the new version. Earthworm Jim... Even an interview with the surviving co-creator said Gameloft did a bad job... I never owned a DS so I can't talk about that version of CT (I think I tried it a little)... The dual screen feature was a bold choice though. Ah, but of course loading issues. Being on disc, the console got to search for the very precise data (loading times with special screens included)... It sure is negative, but you can store so much more on a disc. That is why the N64 didn't rule the market then (and too many first-party games). I liked the Gamecube (I own one). The loading times were so short and remakes were very detailed. Not so much disc capacity, though. I must admit I ended the game as X and didn't tackle the Vile mode much. I couldn't beat X on my few tries and moved on. Some changes were made for sure, that is why I'd say it wasn't a perfect conversion. That said, there are way worse choice when it comes to story modifications/retconning. The Day of Sigma bonus was extremely welcomed though. Chibi? Well, they used 2.5 models. It's closer to cel-shading... but chibi? Nah, chibi was used for Powered Up, though. Yes, I didn't enjoy X2 much, X3 had terrible phases, X4 was a true revival. X5 I liked a bit, X6 was plain torture... X7, no comment (just tried it a wee bit, I was not keen on playing it more than a few minutes) and X8 I didn't try. And yes... giving the license to other studios can lead to trainwrecks... This is why I value online reviews so much. It's really a blind dive sometimes, especially when it comes to movie tie-ins (but then it's off-topic). I choose my remakes carefully in th at regard.
