Nice find Mike! *A little net research after* steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=835134353Ah, this game has been greenlighted on Steam. Half-2017 for the release... It certainly is promising... A very familiar vibe. A tad too zoomed-out for yours truly to find it enjoyable still. ...And in all unseriousness: She sure is well-endowed. A bit too much, even. purifyweirdsoul could make legit jokes on that... maybe.

...I don't feel this would fit the core game... From what we have now, it is Miriam's struggle to expel her curse. I do feel that it is more of a solitary, arduous yet ultimately rewarding journey towards the one person (Gebel) that has the answers/remedy/proper explanation or is/is related to the source of the negative condition.
Of course, company in form of allies and familiars is always welcome. Some will stick with you no matter what, yet it is not on a level of a (merry) tag-team.
Maybe a special mode, spin-off or even parody could make that work. I also refuse the concept of a sequel while we still have our hands full on this project (Could it be better? Could it be worse? Could it be more complete? Actually, it is better to do our best now, we have a full plate to contend with. The future will tell the rest).
A puzzle/set of puzzles, Astaroth* says... Not a bad idea.
We also need something absolutely fresh for this new IP... People claiming "Oh, it is just like this game or that game", while not focusing on the fine, original parts is inevitable (excluding references via easter eggs), but it would be great if we could end getting the least possible of that in the final product.
After saying all of that, I am neither one of the developers or anyone else in charge, nor a preacher... I am just a Igavania fan and a forum user like you.
Please respond when you can, I'd like to see if I made sense in my reply (or not).
*We aren't related ^^;

Hello to all,
Lestaroth here. Old-school gamer, fan of Castlevania since the NES era (among other legendary series that still exist in the present day). I backed the project only recently, but I am sincerely proud to be among you all.
Master IGA's words deeply hit my soul and I decided to be part of it, no questions asked, no second thoughts, no backtracking. I am glad there was still time for yours truly.
I have already begun to participate in these very forums (I should have begun here, but I had inspiration in mind already). I don't know if I shall be too chatty or too silent, it's hard to please everyone nowadays.
May we work all together towards the ultimate IGAvania!
Take care all, Lestaroth (not related in any way to the one named Astaroth, who is dwelling around these parts)

It's highly unlikely that we will be able to switch the shaders. The whole point of the vote was that assets needed to be created with only one shader in mind. It just isn't as simple as switching up in real time and expecting both ways to look polished and cohesive. I wouldn't expect the option at all, even though a few people have asked for it. I see. Impracticality is best avoided. Thanks for the reply. Time for me to take a break. Take care!

I have no favourite, is that okey? I dunno why, but I felt early FF was too slow for me. It felt unnatural to get a menu before choosing attack. This were a time I played much jump and shoot games on Gameboy and Playstation One. I have seen a whole lot of the latest FF game, due to a stream however. While it felt "cute" it never was anything I could get into (except those noodle ads, yum!). I was also surprised to see that the battle-system was now real-time. Or at least, a bit more like real-time. But since I am more about action, I would love to see the system being put into use with a Devil May Cry speed, those from the early days. That might make me interested in the FF series. Next up will be Kingdom hearts (that I will watch) Remastered or whats it called. I wonder if that have a story I would enjoy a bit better... Dunno. Will give it a try. In the FF XIII series, if you dawdle too much, you will get utterly trashed (especially bosses, that will give you no quarters -I hate you to no end, Barthandelus-). It all happens in real-time. You can also only control one character, the others are managed via paradigms. No more leveling up either, it's all about crystariums in the first two, quests and story-completing in the third. It's sort of fresh, super dynamic, yet very disconcerting. A true love-or-hate thing. I was a ATB fan but I had to adapt. I am fine with it now.

Alucard had too few, and I haven't played Portrait Castlevania - But having images are always nice. We have Miriam portrait in the settings / pause / system menu. I wonder if we are going to see Pure Miriam there for the backer exclusive "skin". I hope we do get different portraits. It wouldn't take too much work or data... Speaking of which, a little character model accessible in the options would be great. Including rotation options (maybe a zoom too)... many games do that now. Portrait of Ruin is a fun game. You should try it. Jonathan! Charlotte! Jonathan! Charlotte! *more switching ensues* ------------------------------------------------------- Jan 24, 2017 18:29:59 GMT 1 XombieMike said: "Yes, this is off topic at the moment, but that's alright with me. I use an Xbox 360 wireless controller and a very inexpensive wireless receiver. We also have a PS3, and for a short wired connection those plug into a USB and work without even having to install drivers." The royal way of console-gaming on a PC.

- PWI (long-time player, daily) - Fallen London (daily) and Sunless Sea (less often) - Tales of Zestiria (The rage toward this game is too much) - FF X+X-2 Remaster - Epic Battle Fantasy III (It's a superb tribute to RPGs of yore!) - Pony Island (A seriously messed-up game!)
And a few others. Some games are postponed for a while, including some Final Fantasy entries (LR, Crisis Core, Chronicles, III, IV the After Years, etc.).
Planned: - Epic Battle Fantasy IV - Shantae and the Pirates' Curse - VA-11 Hall-A Cyberpunk Bartender Action - Undertale - Bionic Commando Rearmed and the sequel. Etc.

Aha!
I began Final Fantasy with VI, which is my favorite. I am fond of V, IV (Complete Collection), the XIII series (yes, I know, it's not that bad. I have to finish LR, btw).
The one that weirded me out was VIII as it was too different. I finished it, yet I can't bring myself to like it, ever.
FF I: I got my butt finally handed to me in the very original on NES -original cartridge, not the NES classic or virtual console or emulator- by Tiamat (with a team of Fighter, Black Mage, White Mage and Monk... why did I choose a Monk?!). Got my revenge in the PSP version which I finished (I didn't try any of the trials, though).
FF II: Finished the PSP version, including the extra story. Learned to like it a fair bit.
FF III: PSP version, obliterated Doga and Unei in one turn each, after much grinding... Looted everything in the Crystal Tower and Eureka. The final level is next. Why are the heroes so squishy, btw?
FF IV: PS1 version completed. PSP version... main story completed, interlude completed. Grinded in the After Years. Postponed.
FF V: PS1 version completed.
FF VI: SNES and PS1 versions completed. I refuse getting the Steam version (poor port).
FF VII: PS1 version completed. Fine game, yet not trippy about it. Crisis Core: Played it until the missiles part. Postponed.
FF VIII: PS1 version completed. I did it for the sake of clearing another one in the series. Meh.
FF IX: PS1 version completed. It was kind of too easy?
FF X+X/2: Just got the remaster version via Steam... Resuming. Tidus is an idiot. ^^
FF XI: Didn't have the chance to play it.
FF XII: I'd love to get it. That said, I wonder why Vaan is so hated (and Penelo too).
FF XIII/XIII-2, LR: Finished XIII and XIII-2. Completed about all quests in LR, except the all-extinction or the Aeronite one. No NG+ yet. Postponed LR.
FF XIV: Didn't have the chance to play it.
FF XV: I don't hope to play it.
Others: FF Tactics: Finished the original as well as the War of the Lions version. Loved it to bits. Ignored the other entries of the series. FF Dissidia Duodecim: Barely played it. Interesting concept, though. FF Chronicles: I am near the end... Got brutalized at the final dungeon... Postponed. FF MQ/MQL: Finished the original on SNES. Mystic Quest: Actually the first Mana game. Finished it too on Gameboy.

Having watched the update video, I have felt the same way, even if that didn't strike me that much at first... I guess I learned to not be too picky on things, or then maybe am I too attached to old-school gaming and anything goes in newer games...? I think the closest mental association to this are these pens with a little picture sliding inside (floating action pen or a name like that). I don't know why.
I hope that there will be enough work on this all so it all makes a coherent ensemble.
Could shaders be chosen in options, with the one the majority voted for being the default one, or is it impossible an option?

Of course! Oh, you got it the same way I did. Interesting. I shall obtain the sequel in due time. Ahem. I don't see myself being able of doing much via keyboard, I am a long-lasting console gamer, after all. I have to purchase a wireless receiver so I can play games with a controller... which will be planned for Bloodstained too.
*trying to get back on track after this little topic-derailing* ...Haha.

Thanks, both were great examples.
The way dialogues are conveyed in the Shantae series is more or less what I referred to, but I couldn't pinpoint that, thanks for illustrating it. I did purchase Pirates' Curse a few days ago, so it will be easier to grasp a concept in a near future.
As for Witcher 3, it is top-level stuff. Let's see if it will be considered (or not).

Thanks for the fast and kind reply, XombieMike.
So that thread about Gebel's name origin, alchemy, homunculus and all was not far-fetched at all in the end. An orphan you say... I then understand she would be the introvert, relatively silent, maybe secluded type. I hope she won't be too much of it. A glint of basic emotions here and there would please me a lot. But that is just me.
I guess that a healthy mix of (skippable) cut scenes and glorious animated parts for crucial moments will do the trick. I'm not sure about QTE, I tend to be annoyed about missing stuff upon failing them/not having perfect input on them.
Cartoon stills? I'm not certain to see what you're meaning by this, but what I meant is for dialogue boxes only, for mundane conversations or glowing item/puzzle/unusual item, maybe even when you're moving (an example? okay: -Front Mission Gun Hazard- at 3:42) That wouldn't pop up often though, so the player is not viewed as a kindergartener. Maybe once as tutorial, options, or via a command... As for the narration scheme used in games like Soul Calibur V... No, just no, please no, no, no.
...And then, a few random things popped up in my mind... - When I talked about a joyful familiar, I forgot to mention I wouldn't want a floating troll or Navi-clone (unless via usage of one of these "silly codes") . One that would notice Miriam's behavior, secretly compile it all and let her know about it after a while. - There could be some sort of unmovable magical diary -used for saving?- that could explain the story so far (via the menu). Pop-up book? Living item that loves to chat? Who knows?
Full animation and voiced lines would be wonderful. In every scene, though? I am to be a bit worried about the final size of the game (unless it is brilliantly compressed and that no glitches result from it) and the affected resources if so.
Bloodstained shouldn't be a game with forgotten promises and cut corners... Yet hoping for too much is not ideal either. There is a game that ended being truly disappointing and I will not name it here (I am glad I didn't back that one, by the way). I am confident Bloodstained will fill our hearts with eternal joy and unique moments.
Be well, see you around! Lestaroth
Edit: Thanks, BalancedHydra and purifiedweirdsoul. Hmm... Miriam being able to handle her share is something I would not doubt about for sure. Beautiful yet courageous, wishing to find a cure to her curse, not desperate, not helpless, not a daredevil.
There are different game genres fitting other character personalities, but I'd need more time to brainstorm about it if needs would arise... It would be topic-derailing, though. I always preferred Shanoa than Soma... His values? I didn't see much of them. I guess he wanted to save Mina, kick some embodiment of pure evilness's butt and help others in the process. He didn't talk that much. Jonathan Morris, on the other hand... I think? My memories are fuzzy. I liked all of the Castlevania protagonists, still.

Hi all,
I have joined the Army of the Night at the end of December, 2016. I guess I have missed a lot of discussions on these very forums, but I do believe it is never too late.
That cleared up, I did browse the forums yet never found any thread regarding suggestions about Miriam's behavior in game, so here I go. I am an avid videogamer (especially old-school ones) and I have always been annoyed by totally silent/mute characters even if they're supposed to be an avatar or sort. Miriam will not be a chatty young woman either, obviously.
I certainly would love her being a character of few words, to the point in dialogues and never being boorish even out of frustration. That said, I'd like her to exibit some emotions, like being annoyed by a joyful familiar or enjoying life sprouting even in desolate places. An empty shell/blank slate that becomes more "alive" as progress goes on is fine as well (Hi Shanoa, I am talking about you!), but it is less of my tastes. It's not like she is a homunculus... or is she?
I would also enjoy a little character portrait in dialogues, with of course a few variations (a bit like in Portrait of Ruin, actually). Some thoughts (especially regarding puzzles and seemingly unusual parts of the scenery), denoted in brackets would be wonderful as well.
Do you guys agree? Am I missing on something? Feedback's always welcome! Take care!
