"Oh no, this artcover of a can of beans are too manly! It must surely be something political and sexual!"
Nope, thats art man! Art!
I will never get those that claim games are anything but Art! Even if the game had 8 gallons of blood going in all directions just by hitting an enemy there are no reason to see it as anything other than art.
Moving on..

Welcome new travelers to the Army of the Night Awesome article with good points. Now we need answers why some of these features are "gone" and if they might return, perhaps connected to how we progress in the story. Giving her more and more features. Would be cool if Miriams hair got animation but having a crystalized hair like that should really make it like rock-candy. And good that you brought up about why backers did not get this E3 demo. Same of the "old stuff" but a bit more polish. Even so, the game they are working on right now have more polish and less bugs. The demo we are getting will probably kill off the majority of glitches and bugs in the game too. Nice read, and a fresh start of my Saturday (Caturday?) Thank you

If people do not know much about the voices, like me, I have linked ALL of them below their portraits in the first thread.
Have fun! And if you find "more" voices of them, just link them guys. People might be curious (I know I am!)

1. NPC shopkeeper & craftsman 2. Funny mustasch and beard. Outcast. Confused and greedy. Colorful clothes, like a fiddler. 3. Learning you things, perhaps even craft stuff for you, if you have the gold for it.

Sidekick. Ever since she were announced as part of the dialogue in a grand matter. Sidekick for sure!
If there are different forms of her, it would be from alternate timeliens of the future where she have more power and evolved into something bigger. I believe she will have two forms, one of which that would make her float a bit more, giving a better and wider space of a wild fight.
And shards, I still believe it is portal-related. Even though it could be everything from time, alternate dimension or a way just to suck enemies into oblivion. I would believe she have a commander type of role, and her death is something that might or might not come back in later IP, depending on how well she is recieved by the players.
A female sidekick have been done in Dracula before, they have all had minor roles however and Death is one really bad-ass character to have around. Even so, a demon are still weaker than the devil himself, if they were to introduce a devil, it would be a powerful sidekick for Gebel, if Gebel really take over the control to make the devil himself do his bidding.
I believe we meet her in the castle, but do not fight her until moments before we meet Gebel (Alfred).

Villagers lying to Miriam would work well, if they have some heavy truth to hide. G aining their trust by defeating a strong monster, saving one of them or helping them with food would be cool.
That said, some problems arise from that:
- Would it be that Miriam never visited the village before? It could work in the prequel if she is featured there.
- If this happens in the main game, would they always be the same for each playable character? I doubt it.
- What is in their interest to lie, when the risk of death is so close? When it comes to Simon's Quest, little made sense. The villagers can safely hide in their homes at night, when monsters prowl around, they don't care misleading the one that is working hard to save them.
The village, or a few must know about Miriam. Johannes and Alfred. Then the fact that we have Gebel across the hills with his castle. It could very well be the birthplace of her shards, and after Johannes taking her away, or if she were sent off because her coma (and not having the power Alfred wanted) she are going back as soon as she knows about what happened. Now, how it all plays out is anyones guess, but knowing Dominique and Zangetsu being two warriors of the "light / good", it would seem that they understand Miriam somewhat during her quest and will aid her somehow. I think Zangetsu will be a strict lone wolf here, and keep tabs on Miriam, sense that she is actually ready to be fullu corrupted or something. The villagers might not lie, but Alfred will probably do so, mostly because we know this NPC are one of the first ones introduces, and a driving force of many in the official LORE in Bloodstained, even if he only say "nope" all the time, he is vital. If he is a villain, he will lie. When it comes to riddles and such, those days have passed - and today we are more focused on the adventure rather than backstory. We should know when Miriam know and that will be a direct input. Not a "story of legends". How the villagers will play out might be limited, and I think there is some things that will be story-driven, and others just pure shop-driven / crafting and getting items to boost the ease of progress.

WOOH!!! IT'S HER!!! HOLY SHIRT!!! It's Ami Koshimizu! Kill la Kill were very amusing. The voice of Miriam might be somewhat shy at the beginning and grow into that angry, cursed angel of death later on..?!Holy Dracula, that japanese cast is remarkable! Excited to play this in English and Japanese! Glad you guys liked it. Me too. All the actors fit right in, and are pretty sure Belgrade are Zangetsu now that I have heard the Japanese counterpart. Deep and strict.See you guys next month. Or in three, depends on whenever they feel like updating again. This is the #1 update in terms of 505 Games overview and planning for updates. These should be out more frequently.
Notice how it really keeps on having 1 main topic? This is how planning works. And given the options they have and need to keep for not spoiling are indeed limited. I believe we will get voice acting in the playable alpha, which should have at least the japanese voices now, with english to come at a later date (or perhaps when it is playable for backers). This is just my theory however.
And yeah, there are a ton of information we do not know about yet. Also interesting to me was that Gremory is listed among the other members of the cast - will she have a proper role in the plot? That'd be cool! Gremory have a great roll in the lore. As we see the story playes out, it seems that this demon might be the version of Dracula's side-kick Death. Not in terms of how she functions, but rather how the story are driven, and what she will do to make it a living hell for Miriam (and friends). That is my guess. Can we at least get to hear some lines? Right now it just looks like someone got a list of names and spent 15 minutes adding pictures. This is something else that is bothering me about this update. See the updates as chapters from a book. We do not want a novel here guys, we want a thick book with lots of details.

Update 54 were skipped due to our LIVE recording on Discord. Link to Kickstarter.Update 55 Development Update - Get to Know the Japanese Voice Actors It's been a while, hasn't it? With IGA and company deeper into the development process than ever there had been less time to devote to carving out new pieces of the game for backer updates, but the drought is over—there's still tons of Bloodstained to discover before it comes out. (And then even more to not discover until after it comes out, and you lock yourself in a spoiler-free room for a couple of days to finish it.) For that matter, your between-updates options have never been better: If you haven't been visiting the Bloodstained Forums and the Bloodstained Discord, you're missing direct access to 505 Games' own Angel-Corlux. (A couple of us from the Kickstarter team at Fangamer finally got to meet him [and Mana] at PAX West this year, and I can confirm that he is somehow even more enthusiastic about Bloodstained in person.) Now, with the preface out of the way, here's the latest from IGA: It's time to talk about voice acting! Hello everyone, this is IGA. Our development progress has entered its peak. In the midst of it all, we've finished recording the Japanese voices for the characters. We'd like to introduce you to the actors: Macross Δ - Mikumo Guynemer Sailor Moon Crystal - Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter Alice & Zouroku - Shizuku Ichijo Kill la Kill - Ryuko Matoi [ Listen to her here] Glitter Force Doki Doki - Juujou Izetta: The Last Witch - Lawrence Majin Bone - Leo Bone Lego Marvel Super Heroes (Japanese dub) - Deadpool, Cyclops, etc. [ Listen to him here] ID-0 - Ido Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Gunzo Chihaya JoJo's Bizzare Adventure - Jonathan Joestar Your Lie in April - Saito Touken Ranbu - Hachisuka Kotetsu [ Listen to him here] [ Listen to him here also] Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Mami Tomoe Monogatari series - Ougi Oshino ViVid Strike! - Vivio Takamachi [ Listen to her here] Hell Teacher Nube - Meisaku Nueno Slam Dunk - Hisashi Mitsui The Prince of Tennis - Kunimitsu Tezuka [ Listen to him here] Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Japanese dub) - Darth Vadar The Fast and the Furious series (Japanese dub) - Dominic Toretto Drifters - Black King ClassicaLoid - Bach Tiger & Bunny - Antonio Lopez/Rock Bison The Prince of Tennis - Genichiro Sanada Empire (Japanese dub) - Lucious Lyon [ Listen to him here] Bleach - Yasutora Sado Mobile Suit Gundam AGE - Derek Jackrow Fairy Tail - Elfman Strauss Black Butler - Agni Hozuki's Coolheadedness - Hozuki Yowamushi Pedal - Shingo Kinjou Street Fighter V - Guile Dragon Quest Heroes II - Hassan [ Listen to him here] Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei - Ai Kaga Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live - Otoha Takanashi Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma - Nao Sadatsuka [ Listen to her here] Record of Grancrest War - Siluca Meletes Time Bokan 24 - Calen Blend S - Kaho Hinata [ Listen to her here] Were you able to predict any of the voice actors? One of them is for a character you haven't quite met yet... we'll be telling you more about him soon, so stay tuned. - IGA If you were hoping there just happened to be a new character named Mysterious Man, and IGA had settled on this very oblique way of introducing him—well, me, too. But we'll have to settle for having a new character with an actual identity and design instead! One more housekeeping note to mention before I turn today's update over to the fan artists and fan musicians—we're going to be updating the Kickstarter page a little to reflect DICO's new role on the project. Mana explained it on the forums a few months ago, but we didn't want anyone to think we were editing the page in secret.

1) What type of Shard do you think Astaroth will have and how it will be?
Summon a giant seal in front of you that lasts for 3 seconds that obsorb every casting attacks from enemies. Like a black hole.
2) What type of Shard do you think Mafeius will have and how it will be?
Just a reversed arc of an attacking Mafeius, a bit upwards.
3) What type of Shard do you think the boss Gremori will have and how it will be?
Passive effect that will allow you to passage between realms / dimensions / areas within the castle. Like a key for the teleportationchamber.
4) What type of Shard do you think the cameo enemy Shovel Armor will have and how it will be?
Shovel boomerang, like the Castlevania Cross.
5) From what kind of enemy do you think the magic Gluttony Summon will come from and what type of Shard it will be?
Do they really come from a enemy? And not a passive skill you just learn along the way? Hmm. If so Might be from a monster that eats a lot, or a soul-eater of some kind. The name suggest we get health back. Like Dark Metamorphosis
6) From what kind of enemy do you think the magic Magical Throne will come from and what type of Shard it will be?
Same as above, do we know this comes from an enemy? It feel like this is another one of those skills you probably know right from the start. Maybe we kill an herb or bean monster in the garden to get into that relaxed position with the tea/coffee. Shard could be about regain ether and a protection against different kinds of elements for a limited time.
7) From what kind of enemy do you think the magic Winestained will come from and what type of Shard it will be?
Same as 5 and 6. But if we are talking about monsters, an exotic animal. Even a vampire in this case. Maybe Bloodless. The effect can be a buff in attack for a limited time.
8) The magic Voltic Chain was described as a special “seventh" ability—not a demonic one. What do you think that mean? If it comes from a shard, what kind of enemy and type of shard would it be? If not, how Miriam will obtain this magic?
If it is not demonic, then it must belong to the alchemy training, brought to you by Johannes or his teachings / books. I think all of these with blue effects (5 - 8) are alchemy and not demonic, so as of now we have only seen 4 on the KS-site.
9) The Clan Katana has won the votes and that made the Katana one of the most powerful weapons in the game. How do you think this powerful katana will be obtained? By forging? By finding in the game?
Finding + forging. If not finding as a weapon that can be upgraden, then a thing we need to actually forge it. So it is a trick question. Katana might be the most powerful weapon in the game, or it can belong to a tier along with the most powerful weapons in the game, along with one of each of the other weapons, spears, knives, whip and swordwhip included.
10) The secret IGA BOSS will not look like it's concept art (it's just placeholder) and we know it will give a Swordwhip as a prize. Do you believe it will also give a Shard? What type and how it would be?
Very hard question. I was about to write that if we even get a shard from him, it shouldn't be something that makes the game easier or harder. But now that I think of it, perhaps the Swordwhip is the reward of you killing him. Perhaps not as a shard, but a droped item from him. And with that weapon the game could become easier, who knows? Really all depends on how they want to program it.
As a shard? Hmm. Maybe Miriam can transform to something, if now IGA Boss can transform. Or any other relation to his actual abilities.
I am retty clueless on this one.
11) How the Armor Familiar will work out overall in the game?
Like the sword familiar. Staying close, engage in combat by fast moving to target, then back to Miriam again. Nothing else. Maybe a few dialogues here and there. I fail to see this familiar being the one (if we even get any) that opens doors and pull levers to reveal more rooms of the castle. Armor are a class: fighter. If we are going to have a familiar doing more things than attacking, we need something that are curious in nature. Goofball for example, or the faery. But we might not get those two (/ three with the grim reaper).
Also, I think he will be upgraded by time. Becoming more active, like all the familiars. The more you equip him, the more he will engage in combat.
12) Do you believe the Swordwhip that will come as a prize for backer-edition ($60+) will be overpowered or underpowered? Do you believe the game will give other players a way to forge it or find it?
I hope the Swordwhip is an item you have right from the start, and that it grows along with your level. Making it a good weapon no matter of level and area you are in. It could have an effect like you gain back health for every now and then you hit your enemy, or be a way to actually "HIT" something to reveal the room to fight IGA. Working like both a key and a weapon.
Balance out a weapon like Swordwhip can be difficult. You do not want it to be OP, or do you? As this will become a factor for people being sad and even angry they do not have that sword in their version of the game, due to they didn't back the game in time. If it would be OP I wouldn't mind personally, but if the Swordwhip is too good, then we might have an issue. If it can balance out across the game, it could be the only weapon that are "semi-good" in every aspect, and if we also think about elemental degenerated effects on attacks (example: frost damage on a frost troll will do less damage than a fire damage on a frost troll), the Swordwhip could be the one that ignores all elemental prefixes and just have plain damage all the time.
As much as I want everyone to enjoy the Swordwhip, I actually hope it will only be for backers. This is mostly because it should be exclusive. I remember everyone could get the wings in Diablo III after 1 year or so. Now the Collectors Edition did feel like a waste of money, even just because something so minor like running around with angelic glowing wings that do not do anything in the game but looks cool. So no, an exclusive item should be exclusive.
A better choice is to make another weapon availible, for everyone to get with either a patch or a DLC. But then again, I oppose that idea too mostly because I know IGA doesn't like the idea of having DLC. A game should be finished by the time it is released, and only patched when it comes to glitches and bugs that break the game for traditional players. As a speedrunner (they are getting their own mode) it is a different story. We shall see how they address everything.
13) Aello doesn't seem to give any shard at the E3 2017 Demo. Do you think Aello is a Lesser Demon, like Morte (and thus, doesn't have any shard) or Aello does have a Shard? If do you think it does, what type of shard it is and how it would be?
Homing feathers. Similar to homing dagger in Harmony of the Dissonance. I think that all monsters should have shards. It really isn't that difficult to make shards, and making a few basic ones and just change the numbers on them would do fine. Morte: Passive shard +1 def. ? Aello +2 def, and so on. I mean.. It really would give you a whole lot of shards, sure, but from those you actually level up by killing harder and harder enemies.
Thanks for the post. I am very curious about forging, Swordwhip and IGA as the hidden boss.

"Igarashi, créateur de « Castlevania : Symphony of the Night » : « J’adorerais faire un “Metroid” »"
French site: www.lemonde.fr/pixels/article/2017/09/12/igarashi-createur-de-castlevania-symphony-of-the-night-j-adorerais-faire-un-metroid_5184458_4408996.html>>> With english google translateTake as is.. straight from the google translater!
"Igarashi, creator of "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night": "I would love to make a" Metroid "»" Could you describe in a few words what you are looking for in the video games you are designing?Koji Igarashi: This is a very difficult question, but to put it simply, I try to share with the world what I consider to be fun. And what is fun, you think? For me, if I were to give an example in an action game, it is to be able to control all the movements of my character and beat monsters and enemies with my powers. What is also rewarding is having a very reactive control over his character. How would you describe your game design philosophy? If I do not have fun on a video game, I assume that no one will have fun on it. Personally, what is your favorite game? It's Legend of Zelda , that of the Super Nintendo [The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past]. The Spanish studio MercurySteam made Castlevania games, they now sign a Metroid game, Metroid Samus Returns . Is this something you would like to do ?Oh yes. I would love to make a Metroid game. If Nintendo authorized me. What would a Metroid look like?I have an idea in mind, but the concept of Metroid is very complex. I used to go from the game mechanics to the screenplay, but the story and the world of Metroid are so sophisticated that I would have to do the opposite. So I have no notice yet. You are known for a very specific type of games, the Metroidvania, or Igavania, 2D action-exploration games. Your next title, Bloodstained , will also fit into this category. Why are you so attached to this register? It's not really that I'm personally attached to this type of game, but there's a very strong community of fans of these platform games, in 2D, with scrolling screen. To satisfy their demand, give them the game they always wanted, I launched a Kickstarter campaign [ which raised $ 5 million in 2015, a record at the time]. Beyond the demand of the fans, would you say that exploration is essential in your games? It is very important to me. In the old Castlevania, the progression was very linear, we advanced from one level to the other, and because of this the adventure was rather short. As developers, we want our players to spend as much time as possible in our games. Some do it by increasing the difficulty, but on a personal level I want to be played by the broadest possible audience, not just by the hardcore gamers . By adding exploration, players are allowed to pace the map, to take their time. This seems important to me, and everyone can enjoy it. Do you have a particular attachment to the Gothic worlds?I have always liked the Gothic, the antiques, everything that comes from the past, even before starting to make video games. But with Bloodstained , as it was the first project of our new company, we wanted to avoid disappointing the fans by changing register [compared to " Castlevania " ] , that's why we opted again for the Gothic. Is there any idea in Bloodstained that you are particularly proud of ?I think the game really represents what we wanted to achieve . It's a genre that we do not see much anymore, there are plenty of indie games but that are not designed by the inventors of this type of games, and there are plenty of games with very big budget that concentrate mainly on the graphics and the cinematographic dimension. We make a game that is very "game", and we like it well.

Saw this a while back. Looking dope! But lack of english on the website made me just wait on the project to finish. Edit: Saw just now they have english. Whoah, gonna read! And Now I backed it: "FOR U$ 10 OR MORE ( Approximate value ) "Convenient" - Uncover the secrets Demo access + Full game digital copy + Digital wallpaper + Complete digital soundtrack (All formats) + Name in credits." I mailed the guys, since I have no clue where to input the "Name in credits". It seems they take those names from the billing address, and not nicknames. Hmm.

Mm yeah. It is hard for some to actually have a date.. Like a day, month or year.
The soon really is a boring word. In Sweden soon means "this week". While "very soon" within 2 days.
I guess it all comes down to culture and personal preferences. I mean. It things would happen within 24 hours, I wouldn't use soon, but rather "Within 72 h" just to get more time to fix things if anything is out of place.
Sometime in a very near future, are like soon, but I guess people refrain from using it as they realize it sounds "Oh, god, it sounds like years!" but in reality "soon" could be just the same.
I know Blizzard use "Very soon" when they speak of things coming within 6 months.

upost.info - french original article, english below - fr.upost.info/31373936323632323038
Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night is a throwback to Castlevania games like Symphony of the Night. Judging from our hands-on time with it at E3, it’s shaping up into a pretty fun game. I had a chance to talk to Koji Igarashi, Castlevania’s producer and now head of Bloodstained’s development to talk design, female protagonists, and wine.
On leaving Konami and adjusting to the pressure of Kickstarter:Koji Igarashi, Bloodstained producer: With Castlevania, I’d been working on a long-running franchise where fans knew more about the games than I did. With Bloodstained, the pressure that we feel isn’t much different. There’s still hardcore fans who know more that we do. That’s a good kind of pressure, not bad, and something that we always feel and have gotten used to. One thing that was challenging was creating material to show to backers for a new title. What we’re used to, especially in the Japanese industry, is sharing promotional material around three months before the release date to create hype. There isn’t always much hype after that. It can feel like you’ll run out of material to show people, and that’s been a challenge with Bloodstained. On differentiating Bloodstained from his work on Castlevania: Igarashi: Well, the core concept of Bloodstained is having that same gameplay experience as games from the past. The story and the characters and plot are quite different, but what we really did want to capture was having the same experience from the past and being able to play it now. On Yoko Taro’s comments about wanting “less competition” from developers:Igarashi: I feel the opposite and want more people to make games. I want more and more games and to keep working. I want to go back to the time of the SNES, when so many developers were creating new types of games. I really loved the chaotic feeling during that time when everyone was creating games. Right now there’s a lot of AAA titles, but it seems like the indie games are where the passion is, and I’d like to see more of that. On creating a strong, female protagonist for Bloodstained: Igarashi: It actually happened accidentally when we were planning the Kickstarter. We started with a male character at first, and as we thought about how to have a successful project and what was going on in the games industry, someone said, “Let’s make it a female lead. That would be a good start,” and then we thought of ways to rework it. It didn’t change too much, but that is how it started. We didn’t plan it, but it was a very happy accident. On monster design and fighting creatures of the night:
Igarashi: I don’t want to face any of the monsters. Heather Alexandra, Kotaku: You don’t think that you could beat up Death? Igarashi: No way! I don’t even want to fight against monsters that I program in games. On his wine preferences:Igarashi: This is a bit of a secret, but everyone’s been misunderstanding me because I like white wine more than red wine. Every time I’m around fans and people who know about my projects, they always serve red wine! On recreating older game genres for a modern audience:Igarashi: This kind of genre, this old style of game, is fun even when you play it today, and I really hope that not just old fans but newcomers feel that this is a fun game even without knowing the genre. It’s still fun, even today.
