That's the thing, Look at the shadow of the surrounding areas in those 2 pictures, does it not look like the first is randomly illuminated by another light? While the bottom has correct lighting? I think once that is solved, everything would look right.

Biggest castle....... i vaguely remember this being mentioned as part of the kickstarter... sort of.... maybe. So I'm gonna assume the wording is just biggest castle, and not playable rooms.
But if Iga wanted to, and not saying he does, but if he wanted to.... he could have a big castle by making teh background seem really big. That technically works. Not to mention, he could just make really big rooms that aren't filled with much and it would still count.
Now, would you count the caverns of SOTN as part of the castle? It's not really, it's just a cave that the castle was built upon.
Personally, I'm not too worried. Or worried at all about the castle size. I'm sure it will be at the least, enough to get me to enjoy the castle and won't be the final castle from CoD.... fuck you CoD, I actually loved you until that part.

Well, my suggestion is sort of making the platform not look like it's been illuminated by a differnt lighting, because that's what it seems like to me.

I don't think being floaty was part of what made the game great, but rather it was great despite of it.

Indeed, the shadows seems off on the platforms. It's almost like they have different lighting altogether.
I almost thought she had no shadow on the roof top platforms until I looked closer. The coloring o the platform almost look like it's daytime with light shining downward right at it, but her shadow cast looks like it's almost from the front, which makes it look extremely bizarre.
As for being disappointed with the updates.... I liked the last 2 updates myself, the procedural damage was awesome imo.

Kale I'm surprised you just noticed. Cale has been with us since the beginning and is online often. It's ok though. He's the Ancient One and you're the Other One, haha. The more K/Cale the better. Welcome to the forums even though you've been here a while yourself. I noticed him, but in that list, we both had 5 treats. And were the only ones who had 5 treats. Yo Cale. Ain't nothing wrong with lurking. Always great to see things from behind the veil.

All my boss ideas are for 3d games tbh.
But I'll give it a go.
Librarian.
Fought in a room with .. well, a library background with tons of books on shelves in the back all with chairs and desks for people to sit and read. With ladders to climb up the shelves.
Phase 1. The boss himself is an old hunchback that starts on a tall chair with a pedestal and a grand book in front of him.
The boss starts the battle by calling out books to fly out from the background to hit you, hit or fail, they fall on the floor ad closing. After enough book is on the ground, roughly 10 or however much is needed to be slightly packed on the ground leaving no spaces in between, no more books are called. An attack would be books separated by a space to stand in between, would open and pages flickered through for a second or 2, then pages would explode upward causes a hurricane of pages flying out and hurting the player. Pages from every 3 books, form a weapon, and will fly at the player. (think sword familiar) So aroudn 2 or 3 weapons at a time. Each weapon can be killed.
The player, during this phase, the player has to attack the pedestal and chair slowly chopping it up and causing it to lower.
Phase 2, after the chair is lowered enough, the librarian grab his book and cast spells. Spells: Magic Missile bow that shoots in a straight path to where the player is at. Teleport by going into the books on the ground and coming out of another book. Create a force field of paper and flying at the player.
During this phase, the player has to hurt the boss directly.
During both phases, books that come from the background can be destroyed to decrease the places for teleport or attacks. More books however can summoned without the boss's cast but the boss can't be attacking when books are coming out.

You could always tell him, that IGA isn't whatshisname, and that he shouldn't let one failure dissuade him from others.
If you really want to push it, finish off by calling him a racist, and that he is prejudice from one experience with the Japanese and applying it to the rest. That'll go over REAL well.

That's awesome. I wasn't one that was concerned with procedural generation, but this update makes me happy with how they are doing it to add a layer of awesome on top.

I'm all for an easy mode. Not everyone wants to have a hard game.
But I hope it would be an easy mode and a normal/hard mode. Not that the game is easy by default.

It was cringeworthy because it didn't fit at all in the scene. He literally just says it, for no reason. It was delivered at random, out of nowhere with no context to encapsulate it. I'm actually one that loves SotN's dialogue. I never got the hate.

Agreed. But if it's done, I hope it wouldn't be like LoS2's cringe worthy delivery of "What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets."
I was a huge fan of the dialogue of the SotN games, and I loved Richter's conversation with Dracula, but my god... I nearly coughed up blood at the horrible scene in LoS2.
That said, if they can have an enemy yell Soul steal as one of his attacks, and have a scene where he constantly goes "I'm interested in this" that'd be hilarious and awesome. Just hopefully with better context.

CotM was fuckin' boss!
I love that game to death. The only thing that sort of annoyed me was the double tap to run, and that run is super faster. Wish there was a happy medium.
As for "like Dark Souls" normally, I don't like that comparison to things but a metroidvania works for me in that regard. Though I don't know if I would want difficulty to be like dark souls either. Because in truth, every normal game difficulty is like dark souls. It's a try and try again method, the only difference is that when you die, you don't die and reload, you die and respawn. NG+ in that game only raises the enemy stats, and that is boring to me.
What I do like is Ninja Gaiden's difficulty increase. Play Ninja Gaiden Black. Normal is a bunch of normal ninjas, hard brings in robot ninjas and ninjas with more techniques. Very hard brings you in different bosses at certain points on top of everything else. And yes, their are stat increases, but it's not only stat increase, there is visual change as well as strategic changes. Makes it much more satisfying and encouraging to beat.

Actually they're developing tech where it tracks pupil movement that way it can optimize the quality of the graphics to what you are actually seeing at any given moment. In terms of head movement? Nah, it doesn't mess with you but it depends on the experience, they've developed solutions for games where you're moving a character with analog sticks and moving your head around which causes motion sickness. They've already found solutions to help that. However in this case where it's an igavania game and you're physically LOOKING into a 2.5d castle it wouldn't be a concern at all. You act as the camera. So you wanna zoom in to see your character more you physically can move your body and head closer. You can turn your head inward to see your character straight on or in other ways. I think it could be interesting. Kale, you should check online to see if a Best Buy or GameStop near you is demoing a PSVR unit. It's definitely worth trying, many people who are dismissive of the tech are people who haven't even given it a shot. It's a whole new way to experience gaming. I think I'll wait til the pupil tracking to really give it a go. I've been turned off it more for the ToS stuff than anything though, with the Vive and the Oculus at least. But back on point, I was thinking that you were wanting a 3d vania when you posted this, since you used a 3d game to show off. For a 2d vania.... I don't know how much it would benefit. Well, I do... sort of. I mean, one of the limits of a 2d scroller game is the inability to see farther than the edge of the screen and this would probably help alleviate that. But I wonder if it would be a big improvement or not.
