I'd just like to say that I'm so glad that I was right that the ribbons are an equippable/customizable item.

I'd like to think of it as the latest iteration that contains the best parts of previous games and removes the flaws thanks to the experience gained during the production of these previous titles, while also bringing in new ideas without destroying the spirit of the originals. We already have signs of innovation while staying true to the roots. The idea of an entire class of abilities that you can aim in any direction is pretty awesome, don't you think? Can you imagine one of those spells/sub weapons that ricochets off walls, but you can aim it in ANY direction, and the angle of bounce gets calculated in real time?
And the funniest part is, I realize where they got the idea. They got the idea from the Magnes glyph from Order of Ecclesia. From one utility glyph into an entire class of abilities. I'd call that good progress.

I think you're overlooking a very real possibility - that every enemy might not have a shard that's usable as an ability, but some of them might drop crafting materials for improving other shards and/or gear.
Why do I say that not every enemy needs to have a usable shard? It's real simple. There's only so much variety you can have before you start having things that are simply redundant at best and completely worthless at worst. This way, you can still have the excitement (and frustration) that comes with hunting for a specific drop without flooding the game with pointless amounts of crystal shards. Enemies who don't have shards should drop crafting materials instead. Think about that.

At this point, the three main playable characters are most likely to be Miriam, Zangetsu, and Johannes, even though I'm still really, REALLY hoping that it's Miriam, Zangetsu, and Gebel. Gebel will definitely be playable in boss revenge, but I just kind of wanted him to be one of the big three you can play through the main game with.

That's the kind of thing you get on a public forum like this. I wouldn't worry about it. Iga-san has a very clear vision of the game and a competent team, so the feedback will undoubtedly be filtered into "useful" and "not useful".

Fighting game input combos? Sure why not. Actual button mashing combos? Absolutely not, this isn't Lords of Shadow.

One thing that was cool in Symphony of the Night and went sadly unused in the later games was the ability to pay the librarian to watch a no-damage run of a boss. It'd be kind of nifty if Bloodstained had a similar thing, whether as part of its enemy archive or somewhere else.
Hell, since the game's going to be beta-tested before it's released, wouldn't it be cool if the best runs of the community members from the pre-release version had a chance to be featured in the final version of the game, with the proper credit given, of course? I know these days you can just look up a run on Youtube, but it could be like a special badge of honor.

I think This Article applies to this conversation. I think IGA is directly addressing concerns Western fans may have about the boss monster. Like I just said in that thread, the Japanese-ness of these games is what directly contributes to their success. Look at what happened when they got "westernized". A large, and I mean HUGE portion of the original audience got alienated. We the non-Japanese people who love those games love them because of their unique style that couldn't be imitated by anyone else. This includes odd character design choices. This includes weird, even off-putting monster design choices like this one. And that's what I have to say about this topic. That's ALL I have to say about this topic.

"While it's true that we raised the funds for Bloodstained from overseas sources primarily, I hope people understand that the content is not particularly aimed at foreigners; we are making the game that we, as Japanese, would like to make." I'd just like to comment as a "foreigner" that this is very much a GOOD thing. Devil May Cry was so good and popular world-wide because of how "Japanese" it was. Same with its spiritual successor, Bayonetta. Same with Castlevania. Same with ITS spiritual successor, Bloodstained.

Yes, it's probably the fact that you're running windows XP which doesn't support the most recent versions of DirectX, among other things. The error I get is that it's not a valid win32 application. That pretty much confirms it. I didn't want to assume, because 64 bit versions of Windows XP exist, as far as I know. If you're willing to go for an upgrade, I recommend Windows 7.

You don't seem very familiar with Iga's past work. I hope the developers know which suggestions to ignore. I like a guy who can tell it straight and I agree.

I'd like to say one little thing concerning animations. It's not a bug, so I'll post it here. Miriam doesn't seem to have an animation for standing while not running, so she does the full running turn even when turning in place, and it looks weird. I'm confident this will be addressed. Also, if you keep holding down when falling from a great height, Miriam seems to play the crouching impact animation, then starts standing up, and then immediately goes back down to the crouching position again. Not a game breaking bug or anything, but again, it looks weird.

Excellent, excellent. It's nice to see that the first environment in the game is in fact outside the castle proper, and I'm pleased to see the progress in the game's development. Not much else to add that hadn't already been said, really.

I noticed on the katana swing clip that the weapon does not have an arc trail. Will there be weapon trails (i.e. the curved arc you get when you swing the Crissaegrim in SotN) eventually? I know in the early clip of IGA playing around with Miriam hitting the floating eyeballs, there were weapon path arcs. I just assumed they would be in. Maybe the weapon path arc isn't in the katana clip to better show the movement of the swing? It's unfinished, so I wasn't expecting there to be a weapon trail. Even if they were present at an earlier point in development, stuff like that's going to have to be remade for new weapons and updated when there are changes to the graphics. It's pretty complicated stuff all things considered.

Oh, I thought this was going to be a Welcome to Night Vale thread. Looks good though, it seems to have all the fundamentals down, and that one subweapon that's a stationary blade trap seems interesting. I suppose you could say it has the same function as holy water, but still, gadgets as subweapons. That's cool.

That katana animation is excellent, far more animated than let's say Soma's, but still being that same style of strike. I also like the post-kick idle animation, I always like it in games when a character comes to rest in a different stance if you don't move after performing a specific action. Makes for some cool poses for when you finish a fight with an attack like that. Speaking of the kick, wouldn't it be cool if it was a knockback move? I imagine it would be rather satisfying to punt this game's equivalent of a medusa head so hard it flies into a wall and explodes. Or even better, if you could upgrade it so you could mash out a hundred kicks, picture related.

What's that i see there behind IGA. Some sorta image about the game?! You get the best photo of IGA that you will ever see, probably, and you have the time to look at what's behind him? Impressive. Seriously though, that donut face cures cancer. Oh and THERE BETTER BE A DONUT FOOD ITEM IN THE GAME.

So turns out the Hyrule Historia post was indeed for a different Death Battle. Bayonetta's opponent will be ...
That voice sounds too young for "uncle" Dante, but I'm certainly down for this!
