The background is where I am more conflicted. First off the background is amazing. I want to play this part of the game right now. Where I'm conflicted are the very subtle properties of both styles. Ultimately I'm on the side of Background 3, but only slightly. The brightness of Background 3 shows off the details of the area a lot better, which is a treat for the eyes. However, because Background 1 is slightly darker, the torches provide a much more natural look in terms of lighting, it feels like that room is lit by those torches, and not by the game. The blood, imo, is way too shiny, which is most apparent in the grooves of the blood fountain in Background 3, though if this is blood mixed with water then I suppose it makes sense. Honestly there's a lot more I keep forgetting as I look at details of each picture. It all looks really good, but I think I've got my vote. 3/3 Which is why I prefer Character 3 / Background 1. Choosing between them is killing me, both have very strong points. Overall I prefer background 1 because it is generally darker and the lightning makes more sense. In background 3 I have no idea why the tunnel leading into the area is so well lit, as is the wall of the floor (I don't know how to describe it... you know, the wall running along the very bottom of the image). Also we have the chandellier... IMO it feels like the candles aren't shining nearly enough light onto that polished metal (that is, very reflective) chandelier in shader 3. It's a bit better in shader 1, though still not ideal. I guess what I'd love to see is background shader 1, just with a bit more contrast. But hey, 3/3 is going to win by a landslide, so who cares. edit: also very glad to see the crystal curse looks much better throughout all shaders. Looks much less like a tattoo this time, and hopefully it will get even better in the future.

Nice... very nice! Those EVGA Hybrids really are sexy. My computer is feeling totally inapropriate now XD ( clicky-click for PCPartPicker link) On topic now... My father and I just finished assembling the pool. Just in time too, as we're about to have a full week of ~35°C highs (95°F for all you imperial unit barbarians).

I'm really glad you sister didn't suffer any serious injuries, Scuttlest. Nice setup, jim! I'm kinda envious Now overclock those 970s! I built me a new PC early last year (high-end for Brazillian price standards, but would be a pretty mid-range machine in the US) and I don't know if you feel the same way, but it feels really nice to assemble a new setup, even if it takes a bit of work. Recently got me a GTX 960, I hope that will be more than enough for Bloodstained!

Hanazawa Kana would be a great choice. Her role as Tsunemori Akane in Psycho-Pass was amazing. In stark (character) contrast, her work as the psychotic robot Lisa from PSO2 was equally amazing XD
Other ridiculously talented seiyuus that I'd love to see as Mirian would be Tanaka Rie and Sakura Ayane.

Since nobody else brought this one up - Doom. And Doom 2. These soundtracks are damn amazing, take for example Into Sandy's city from Doom 2. Also Touhou music. And it's remixes. And remixes of these remixes. And... you get the picture. But I believe that got already brought up in a different music related thread. Aah, " I Sawed the Demons" is a great Doom song, too! And well, I did bring up Demetori there

Hmm... I'm really not sure what I'd like. The last game I played that featured dynamic audio was Phantasy Star Online 2. There the music would shift depending on wether there were enemies around you or not, during certain quests where a mecha was available to players (the music would get a bass beat if anyone was riding one of them) and during certain large scale boss fights depending on the boss health or what kind of attack he was doing (this was really cool... there was one boss who had a nasty attack, where he would freeze time, paralysing everyone, and setting up a trap on the field. You had to break free of his spell and destroy the trap... if you didn't, it would be insta-death to all 12 players, and during this the song would get significantly more tense).
Some of that was interesting, but usually it wasn't well done. The difference between the scenery and battle songs was too great, the songs would shift right when their good parts were about to begin, and you'd get used to some themes, only to have them be arranged in a completely different way in the soundtrack album. Not sure if I'd want that.

Nice! What kind of hardware did you get? Hardware? You mean for the snow and cold weather? Well bags of driveway salt, cans of de-icer for the car and I stuffed plastic grocery bags in the cracks of my windows and covered them in duct tape ghetto style. This house lacks central air so I have a propane in the living room and several space heaters scattered in various rooms around the house. HAHAHA, oh my god, sorry, I quoted the wrong person! Whoops >_< That was meant to be a question for jim about his 1,400 dollars worth of PC upgrades, which was right above your post I ended up quoting. Sorry about that. Anyway... that sounds pretty rough. The place I live in hasn't had snowfall in over 30 years, so I couldn't even begin to imagine how hard it must be to have a cold winter like that. Stay safe!

Mostly been sitting inside it snowed here yesterday and turned all the roads into sheets of ice. The temperatures outside have been hovering in the teens and I am kind of reluctant to do anything other than travel back and forth to work which I have been doing at around 30mph. Nice! What kind of hardware did you get?

Hmm... I might draw something Castlevania/Bloodstained related while I'm still on summer break. Will see if I can put something out in the next couple of days!

Ah... so glad to see another Dwelling of Duels... dweller (sorry) here! To me the most beautiful thing about video game music is the remix scene. virt, Snappleman, goat, Ashane, Prince of Darkness, ansgaros... so many talented people there! Thank you for the Unchosen Paths album, I wasn't aware of it! *runs back to Prosecutor Office to listen to it*
Have some more Snappleman and Ashane goodness!
Also, if anyone has yet not listened to this, then please do:

Anything done by SSH: This guy started as a remixer. He has now done the OST for a fighting game, Koihime Enbu, which is -amazing- to me. I like it better than Guilty Gear's music, which I'm also a fan of. A bit late for a quote, but thank you for mentioning SSH. He's the reason why I got into danmaku shooters - listened to his soundtrack for eXceed 3rd, and that was the sole reason why I bought the game. Since then danmaku shooters have become one of my favourite genres. If you like metal soundtracks, check it out. This is one of the best boss themes I've ever heard: Of course, I got hooked in Touhou, and most of the appeal of those games are in their music and in the ungodly amount of fan-art it generates. My favourite Touhou music doujin circle is Demetori. I listen to them on a daily basis. Once again, if you like power/prog metal and Touhou, you absolutely have to check them out.
I'm a huge fan of Jake Kaufman, and you guys have no idea how overjoyed I was when we got to know he was going to work on Bloodstained. He's amazing at his OSTs, Chiptunes and Remixes too. Crystal Flash (Super Metroid mega medley)
FX4 is one of his original chiptune albuns, so it's not exactly a game soundtrack, but this one is amazing:
Yoko Shimomura is one of my favourites too. Here's an amazing song from one of the best RPGs I've ever played: The Phantasy Star Online series also has some good songs, particular the first game. It's hard to put a genre to it... it's very electronic mixed with neo-classical. It's amazing. Some examples:
This last one is long, but DAMN IT, IT IS WORTH IT
Also, Ys.
You guys should also check out Eschatos. Really, really great 16-bit-like OST: Other soundtracks I highly enjoy are Final Fantasy (especially IV, VIII, XII and Tactics), anything done by Daisuke Ishiwatari, most of the Ace Attorney soundtrack and many, many others.

IMO a great RTS released on the 90s, but it got a lot of hate just because it was very different from the original Total Annihilation. Still, great history, great gameplay, great f*ckin music (listen to the this, made with just 3 instruments, truly a work of a genius). I wonder why Cavedog went bankrupt after launching its expansion. Thank you for linking that song. Just... amazing.

Why would we kill you? We had Re;Birth threads back in the day (actually, they should be there somewhere). Haha, I don't know, doesn't seem to be the kind of title Castlevania fans would be into. In all honesty I didn't think the game was very good as far as RPG battle systems go, but for some reason it was terribly addictive.

My favourites would be...
1) Steins;Gate - absolute masterpiece. Binge-watched all 24 episodes in one sitting. I simply cannot wait for Steins;Gate Zero. 2) Code Geass - probably the best ending episode I've ever watched. 3) Psycho-Pass - amazing from beginning to end (but let's pretend that movie atrocity doesn't exist). S01EP11 was intense. 4) Uchuu Kyoudai - one of the best stories about determination and pursuit of dreams I've seen. Also the realistic depiction of the space program is pure win. 5) Planetes - severely underrated and unknown. Hardcore sci-fi that left the space nut inside me in awe. Hits all the checkboxes of your standard Sunrise anime, though. 6) Initial D - I like cars \(e_e)/ 7) Nichijou - funniest I've ever watched. 8) Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - the only piece of media that ever had me crying like a little girl. 9) Gosick - goth-loli sleuth voiced by Aoi Yuuki. Enough said. 10) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - the anime that got me started.
Honorable mentions to...
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou - second funniest I've ever watched. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica - would have been higher on the list if I hadn't watched it right after watcing Steins;Gate! If you watched both, you know why that's a bad idea. Denpa Teki na Kanojo - Its only problem is that at only 80 minutes, it's far too short. Classroom Crisis - I actually can relate a lot to the story in that anime, if you remove the sci-fi setting. Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei - always loved dark humour, and by god, that manga ending... Joshiraku - same author as Zetsubou-sensei, but now with 100% more cute girls. Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider - favourite anime of 2015. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - only Gundam I've watched. Extremely enjoyable, but had far too many similarities to Code Geass to enter my top 10. Zankyou no Terror - gripping from start to finish.
Currently watching...
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - I actually have a hard time with this one. I find it very good, but I get nervous easily with these psychological horror stories. Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation - I played the game for over 3000 hours. I just have to watch the anime, even if it is stupid as hell (i.e glorified Sega advertising).

Currently enjoying my summer break from college along with my Christmas Steam purchases.... recently finished Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 (please don't kill me... waifus are a guilty pleasure) and Strider. In the coming days I'll probably start on Astebreed and Dark Souls 1 on the PC, and maybe Final Fantasy Tactics A2 on my DS... quite a varied list of games!

Having just finished Strider earlier today, I have to say I prefer the single-point perspective. Even though that game actually has pretty poor graphics (texture resolution is laughable), it still looks beatiful during gameplay. Not even once I felt like I couldn't judge a jump or an enemy position because of the perspective, not to mention the incredible ammount of depth it gives to the scenery, particularly for large outdoor environments (the background of the area with the dam in Strider looks amazing), which I hope we'll get a couple of in Bloodstained. I really don't want the entire game to take place inside the castle walls, it would be such a waste.
Honestly I think this whole discussion of perspective vs. orthographic is unnecessary since we've always known from the very beginning that it wouldn't be orthographic. In every piece of concept art you can see the floor, so I don't really understand why some people (granted, I haven't checked the discussion on Kickstarter, just going from what I've read from others here) are so upset about it now. What I actually hope will be discussed in the future is how angled the camera will be in general, but we need more game footage before we can assess that.

Precisamos sim! Ace Attorney fans, unite!
XD

... Any other similarities can be chalked up to having a similar influence in manga style artwork. I've seen manga and anime with more similar looking characters within the same title. They probably have less in common visually than two grizzled brown haired men from any two given FPS games. Off-topic, but reminds me of Initial D, where was the seasons went on, far too many characters suffered from Takumization... the process by which previously visually-distinct characters become similar to main character Fujiwara Takumi, even females. XD On topic, I also don't see much in common between them. Our brains are very good pattern-making machines, we tend to see similarities and patterns even where they don't exist. Miriam has much more gentle, young features, similar to an early 20's woman. Shanoa on the other hand looks to be in her late 20's, witha much more mature look. Her costumes and hairstyles are completely different too.
