Yeah, it is very strange that there was a Vita port, and a Wii U port, (two systems, one a handheld, and one by Nintendo) but the 3DS wasn't a stretch goal? Very weird. Especially since the past three games were all on the DS Light. :/ That's a perfect question to ask Iga !!! My guess is that the 3DS wouldn't be able to create the quality Bloodstained experience that Iga has been very upfront about.

Honestly, at this point, I would rather see Bloodstained on the 3DS than the WiiU. I was always sorely disappointed that we didn't unlock a 3DS version, I'd love to be able to play it and collect streetpasses for things like potions and wall-roasts lol. Short of that, I would much rather see it on the Switch than an outmoded console. Nintendo announced that production of the WiiU will cease, the console is officially 'dead'. Let's not be bitter over it, instead let's move on and make use of the Tegra chip in the Switch for Bloodstained's beautiful back and foregrounds. <3 Yeah, it is very strange that there was a Vita port, and a Wii U port, (two systems, one a handheld, and one by Nintendo) but the 3DS wasn't a stretch goal? Very weird. Especially since the past three games were all on the DS Light. :/ It was because there was no way the 3DS would've been able to run this game without some very severe compromises that would render the game almost unrecognizable from the other versions. We we can all agree the Vita and WiiU are both significantly more powerful than a 3DS and yet those consoles were going to get a less good-looking game after much time and money was given to an outside studio in order to tinker with the UE4 just so the ports could even happen. That much is a fact. What I speculate is that the 3DS might not even be able to run the UE4 even after tinkering with it like with the Vita and WiiU. You ou guys asking for a 3DS version are asking for the impossible (unless you want a drastically dumbed down version on a waning portable). Bloodstained will be the first home console Igavania game in 21 years. Not since SOTN in 1997 have we gotten one. We got what we asked for so let's not ruin it by demanding unreasonable stuff like a 3DS port.

We are getting the prequel minigame there tho so we get to experience a little bit of the Bloodstained universe there.

Interesting side...if the Switch replaces the 3DS (which I see the Switch replacing both the Wii U AND the 3DS), would IGA's team drop the prequel mini-game on the 3DS? It's pretty much the same situation as the Wii U/Switch predicament. The 3DS would be a dead console by the time Bloodstained releases. So why release the prequel on a dead system? Wait...a stretch goal said there would be a prequel game on the 3DS, so it must be done!

Now that I think about it, prequel could also use the switch, even better.

I simply stated I would rather see it on the 3DS (Which Nintendo has not cut production and support for), than on the WiiU (which is officially 'outmoded'). I'll be satisfied with a mini-preview game, but if they can manage a mini game, then I'm sure they could manage to port the game itself over in some measure. Mirror of Fate wasn't half bad for all they did with it, afterall.

And I'm not only talking about game engine and graphics. This is not a fair comparison. I actually own MoF HD on PS3. It looks like ass since it was a 3DS game first.

I agree that 3DS was never an option because it isn`t powerful enough to handle Bloodstained, without serious degradation of quality. The mini game, on the other hand will be on 3DS. Now that we know what Switch is and when it is coming out, it really makes sense to leave Wii U version behind and make the Switch version (if both cannot be done financially). That way we can have Bloodstained both as a console game and a handheld game in great quality. It is the best choice for this game.

I VOTE YES! I have a PS4 version reserved but I'm intending to changing it to the NS for the portable Nintendo nostalgia of taking my metrodvania on the move like I've done with my past Castlevania games on my 3ds.😏

Well now that we got the Switch coming out, and since it's unlikely that Bloodstained won't be for it, I guess in a unintentional sense, the switch could very likely replace the NEW 3DS XL.

It looks like ass since it was a 3DS game first. I disagree. It looks great and a huge improvement over the 3DS. But I actually liked MoF, so I'm a little biased.

This is a very delicate topic.
On the one hand, you could argue that there is a 'moral obligation' to release the Wii U version, on the grounds of it being a Stretch Goal which most certainly attracted people to back. Those people expect the version they paid for, and to cancel the Wii U version would basically be telling those backers "you don't matter, there arent enough potential buyers to justify keeping our promise, please understand, but you wont be getting what you helped fund."
But, now its time to get, admittedly, cold and practical about it. The Wii U is already, 2 years before Bloodstaind's launch, dead in the water with a new console on the way to replace it before the game even comes out. Even if the Switch were not on the way, the Wii U was a mess of poor communication and bad decisions. Not even a new Smash Brothers game and a forthcoming Zelda game had a hope of saving it. Nintendo failed HARD with the Wii U. I consider the mere thought of a port for the system to be a bad idea, the system just doesn't have enough owners to make the port worth it. I'd argue the same for the Vita, but that version seems to be safe, so lets stick with the topic at hand.
At this point, I think the team's best option is to cut the Wii U version, and offer full refunds to people who cannot switch to something besides the Wii U. The system is dead, and wasting money on a port that almost certainly would not sell well is bad for the game itself, and IGA's future with the franchise and his career as a whole. It might blemish his reputation a bit, but plenty of companies have survived cancelling ports before (Remember when MKX was supposed to release on 360/PS3? That game cut those ports wisely and still did fine).
I dont think swapping to the Switch is a good idea right off hand either. There's no telling how well the system will do, since Nintendo has done such a good job of slapping its fandom over the last handful of years. I'd say, honestly, to cut Nintendo console support altogether and port it to the Switch later on if the Console proves itself. The 3DS minigame is already safe, since the 3DS was a massive success.

I can't speak for everyone, but I've noticed considerably more talk about the Switch and an overall more positive reaction to it than there was before the Wii U came out. At the very least, Nintendo seems to have learned to market the new console better than the last. Personally speaking, if IGA announces a Switch port, I'm strongly considering throwing down for a second copy of the game. The portability of the Switch makes it a much more appealing console to me than a PS4 or XBOne.

That's exactly what I said earlier in this thread, but some people just have this idea that the game "has" to release on a Nintendo platform, it seems. But the fact is no one knows how well the Switch will sell. All you have to do is look at the number of Wiis sold and compare that to the number of Wii Us sold, and that should tell you there's no guarantee the Switch will sell a specific amount. More importantly, I have to state again that the Switch is not part of the Kickstarter. I'd love for the game to be completely 2D, but that wasn't part of the Kickstarter. That concept wasn't funded. I don't see why they should commit Kickstarter funds to a Switch version just because the Wii U version may be cancelled. If everyone that has a Wii U were going to receive a free Switch, that would be different. The game is already going to be released on many platforms, including a handheld, so I'd like to see them concentrate on the task at hand. Many things could go wrong as it is. But if the game is a success, that will open up many possibilities, so I think that's what is most important.

Igavanias feel mostly at home on Nintendo's hardware, which is due to the fact that most of Igavanias were on GBA and DS. Nintendo gamers which backed for the Wii U version of Bloodstained should get it either on Wii U or Switch.
Switch will no doubt be more successful than Wii U, and it makes sense to make a port for the new upcoming hardware, so that Bloodstained can be played on it, for Nintendo gamers.
