Ok, I know what I told earlier but here's a crazy thought; In the events that Shenmue don't get ported to wii U and xbone (It will never happen, I know) and Shenmue 1&2 don't get relaunched, what would be the odds that their final 48h was actually more powerful than what we thought before (because of last minute 48h* backers + ps4 physical) but still have been burned out by this mid-campaign announcement? I mean the average pledge has reached bloodstained level (and I expect it to still go higher since they fix reward tier even it's still average at my taste but that's just my opinion) It's such a big announcement that people upped their pledge and even made additional accounts for getting both physical copies but that means they won't do that in last hours (assuming they are still being reasonable in their backing of a 2017 upcoming game) Well, what they could and should do is get paypal up and leave it running even after the campaign ends. That's the only realistic option for them hitting 10 MIL and beyond |

I love Shemue, and I want this game to be the best it can be, but I don't think anyone is kidding themselves into thinking that this Kickstarter is somehow going to accrue twice the funding of Bloodstained. Could the game reach higher funding through Paypal donations after the KS campaign? Absolutely. There are already die hard fans wanting to donate every month to help spur development. But the Kickstarter itself? Not a chance in hell. |

Reviving the thread for the last week, less than 900 000$ to go before it outfunds bloodstained but the sad news is they are still nowhere close to 11 millions (it was expected...). Anyone want to take a second guess for how much they will get in total? For me, around 6 millions sounds reasonable

If you look at kicktraq for Bard's Tale 4, for example, it had NO last day rush. NONE. Which kind of surprised me, but I suppose the backer base tapped itself out long before the last 2 days. I feel like the same thing might happen to Shenmue, as the community isn't that strong there because of the poor handling of the Kickstarter campaign. |

ChucklesTheJester -- you noticed that, too, about Bard's Tale? I thought it was very interesting.... I pledged at a pretty high level for Shenmue 3, but I haven't really been following it as closely as I did Bloostained. So far, the Shenmue KS tactic appears to be to add a lot of high level tiers (in the $1k range) with options of donor involvement. I'm not so sure that's attracting new donors at this point. Right now, they're putting up about $40-50k a day. If you assume they DO get a huge wave at the end, then they'll likely end up close to $6M. Definitely nowhere near $11M, though.

I think we will get 6.3 million if they say the full english cast from shenmue will come back for the 3rd game. If they have a few more surpises that are great maybe a super spike at the end but it will be fun to see who is right, either way 2017 is going to be a big year for gaming not speaking of just shenmue3 either.

i missed shenmue when it came out, had like 12 other rpgs, RE, sonic and castlevania going, but anyway, glad they made their goal, using e3 and sony to saturate the media was a brilliant marketing move even if it did leave a bad taste in my mouth how corporate that felt (big surprise at e3 though >_>), and it is seemingly being managed like a corporate campaign instead of a labor of love (the ks, not the game). if it overtakes RotN, big whoop, happy for the fans of shenmue
the bloodstained ks campaign was and is a bunch of fans who understand the business side putting out a call to more fans to rally around an idea that had long been neglected and nursed it back into the awesome creature it once was and then grafted a cannon that shoots concentrated awesomesauce (and a kappa for a tail >P), it was 'we know people want this, lets give it to them, lets go' ^_^
as for Bard's Tale IV, i waited until the last minute so my wallet could refill and got what i had been looking at getting since i saw it, if id had the money then idve got it then, good on them and ill finally get to play the original trilogy in all its glory, only had the first game on NES and i still havent beaten it >P

Well the funding is progressing better than it did pre-PS4 announcement. Prior to that they were seeing daily numbers in the 10k-25k. Currently, after the initial spike, they are running in the 40k-60k range daily.
But we'll see. You never know what the last two days will bring. That second to last day, right before the final 48 would be the perfect time to announce a Shenmue 1 & 2 release/remaster. Though, if they do it I would certainly make sure the announcement comes BEFORE the final 48 reminders go out and make sure to put the update at the top of the campaign page.
Beyond that I still wonder if there IS going to be that much of a final day spike. I still question whether there will be that many folks left after the initial burnout from the E3 announcement to make much of a final surge.
I'd say it has a 50/50 shot at meeting/beating Bloodstained's total. And I'd consider "meeting" our total to be our total +/-5%. so somewhere between 5.49M-5.59M.
