Yup, just a matter of minutes before they surpass us. It no longer bothers me, though, because there's something I've come to realize: it's the end product that matters, not how much was raised. I have a feeling that the two games it recently beat, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Torment: Tides of Numenera, will end up being much better GAMES when they're finally released. IGA/Inti Creates and inXile Entertainment have proven that they know how to properly budget a game and deliver results, whereas with the previous Shenmue games, I think it was more of a case of SEGA just throwing lots of money at Yu Suzuki's team and hoping against hope that it would be a massive hit.
I don't know, I can't just shake this feeling that when Shenmue III finally gets released, it'll feel like an unfinished mess, that it won't be the "full Shenmue experience" even if they manage to raise 11 million dollars. I think a lot of fans are in for disappointment, which is the main reason why I withdrew my pledge after all the E3 hype had worn down. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

While it's true that Shenmue 3 will pass Bloodstained for KS funding, the Shenmue campaign is ending way short of where it could have ended, especially given how it started....

Awww, couldn't help it! All the nice comments about IGA/Bloodstained persuaded me to back it! Granted, I didn't put -nearly- as much money into this as I did Bloodstained (not by a long shot), since I still have my concerns about this project, but putting in my $39 isn't going to kill me, even if it doesn't end up being everything we hope for. At least if it fails, I'm not out much, unlike Bloodstained (like, CDN$1000, lol).

A physical PS4 copy had better cost more than $80 retail in my country when it gets released, that's almost all I can say. I wanted the fancy case for a point of difference. |

That was one of the things that kinda turned me off on this Kickstarter after the first week (almost to the point of cancelling my pledge) along with the silence/misinformation (they still haven't gotten their d@mn story straight on what's Sony's involvement and whether it prevents a Xbox One/NX version from being released/made available to backers) from Y's Net, and Japan Awesome's (I think that's who's running this Kickstarter) poorly designed reward tiers (like a $80 for a physical copy of the game as well as a g***amn in game product placement phone card, or a $1800 tier where you get to name a f***ing in game fishing pole, or tying 95% of the in game backer exclusive content to the $160+ tiers) that imo make the current pre-order/special edition culture look tame by comparison. |

Um yeah, I don't get why ppl are salty about shenmue 3. Not because of the game but because of the community. We have our fair share of toxic backers you know. I mean I went to these forums because the comment section in the kickstarter page was becoming unbearable. On topic: I am glad shenmue 3 beat bloodstained. Bloodstained's original base game could have been finished with a mere 500,000. Shenmue 3 needed 2 mil. As of right now bloodstained made 1100% of its original goal where as shenmue 3 only made roughly 250%. They both have some sort of finacial help not neccessarily in the development of the game but help non the less. Bloodstained has an unknown publisher and shenmue 3 has sony help with marketing (which is a big deal). By the end of our campaign Ben was pretty much begging Igarashi what else he may be able to add into the game because Iga seems to have been tapped out of ideas and the boss revenge mode seemed to be the last and final thing Ben was able to squeeze out. Shenmue 3 barely scratched the halfway point of the goals. Although the half way goal seems to have the last worthwhile goal for shenmue 3, "character perspective" system what ever this is sounds interesting in a narrative persepective. Both campaigns were a success but I think shenmue3 still needs more funding for the sake of what Suzuki wants to achieve. I was never a fan of the Shenmue series and maybe this up coming game would change my mind but my gaming history lines up with Igarashi, playing almost all the games he ever developed past SotN and being impressed by each title. I did not back Shenmue 3 because I put my entire budget for games into Bloodstained (minus $24 for yooka laylee ), not because of "toxic" backers. I feel like that is a wrong reason to not back anything on kickstarter. You back the people creating the Idea you want. The fan base should be irrelevant. |

You guys should be happy we all win, and if not shenmue it would have been some other project taking the spot on the list, iam a happy camper today shenmue is getting more funds to help the final product be better.
