RichterB! I didn't expect my comments to turn into this, haha! Thank you. Let me expand a bit what i said, and answer to what has been said here. ABOUT CASTLEVANIA TIMELINE AND IGA'S DESIRE
I'm a fan of the series for a long time and i had the opportunity to read almost all interviews about the game, specially from IGA. From what i remember to have read, IGA has said that, at first, he didn't want to publish a timeline. The timeline itself was a inner work, just to help the team, to use as a guide, but someone ended up publishing it at a magazine and at Harmony of Dissonance's official site. Due to that, it became official and he had to justify why Circle of the Moon, Castlevania Legends, both N64 games and almost all remakes/remades from the original Castlevania (Haunted Castle, Super Castlevania 4, etc) wasn't there. I remember he saying this: Circle of the Moon and both N64 games were created as spin-off by their own directors and he felt he couldn't put them on the timeline due to that, all remakes/remades of the first game were just that and the only one he really removed was Castlevania Legends, because he felt it didn't fit with the direction he wanted to follow. (For instance, the game implies that Trevor is the son of Alucard and Sonia). I remember that, when asked if he regretted anything on his Castlevania career, he said that he regretted to have the timeline published, because that created a problem they couldn't get out of it. The timeline was restricting their creativity and he had to get rid of some "rules" to create more games. The rule that Dracula shows up every 100 years, for instance, was rewritten as "Dracula shows up everytime humanity wants , or when someone tries to summon him AND every 100 years". ABOUT CASTLEVANIA MAGIC / POWER SYSTEMS
IGA also said before that he usually creates the gameplay first (even before the main character), and then creates a plot around it to wrap things up. He claimed absolutely all Castlevanias under his direction was made this way with two exceptions: Lament of Innocence, whose he wanted to tell the tale of the Belmont's and Dracula's first struggle, so he made the plot first, and Order of Ecclesia, where he decided to create the first female lead of his games on Castlevania, due to fan request, and thus he created the character first before everything else. CASTLEVANIA MOVING ON
I agree with you when you say that it seems IGA wanted to march on with the series and do something different with it, but was restricted. Castlevania was recognizable by simple elemnts and such elements changed wildly under IGA direction. Let's remind ourselves of Dawn of Sorrow anime intro. If you show that to anyone that never played a IGA Castlevania, absolutely no one would say it is: Exaggerated powers, anime-esque characters and such. Things that didn't below originally to Castlevania, but was inserted there by IGA. THE PATH OF BLOODSTAINED
I understand your concern about Bloodstained having to follow Castlevania formula, a formula that Castlevania itself was starting to distort itself. What i do believe is that, IF Bloodstained turns into a franchise, it will mostly follow the 2.5D Metroidvania / Igavania approach because that's what everyone expects from it. It will only depart from that when said formula REALLY starts to decay, financially speaking. But where the game will go from here, is anyone's guess. I tend to believe that a sucessfull formula will be repeated on and on until starts to decay, and i have a strong feeling that, if Bloodstained 2 came into existing, it will be another 2.5D Igavania game on a Castle-like scenaro with a stylish character using a magic / power system that is different from Bloodstained 1. It's the easiest to do and if people who bought and played Bloodstained 1 like the game and if that gave profit, the formula will be repeated for 2. So, i agree with mourningxsun when he said that he doesn't see room for a Bloodstained outside 2.5D Igavania formula. I don't either, at least not for now. Where we go from there? I can't say. I just know that, when asked about a franchise at one of his interviews, i remember IGA saying "we plan to make at least TWO MORE games". If he was talking about Curse of the Moon (not released at the time) and something else, or if he was talking about a Bloodstained 2 and 3...only time will tell.

You know, i was thinking...there are still of questions and some doubts i want answers, but i believe since the game will be released next month, i'm sure they are following a big marketing campaign right now, and most of these questions will be answered. My questions are mostly focused on the stretch goals. I'm sure some of them CAN'T be answered due to how "spoilery" they are, some of them can't be answered due to some other situations, so i'm not gonna make them, but what i want to know is how the game will be released. Some stretch goals can easily be built with the game itself (some of them are mandatory, actually) but some of them are completely different modes and other extra stuff. Beforehand i remember they discussed the possibility of the game being released in a staggered content (the main game and features, and extra modes being released freely later on). I believe they will market the game and will address that, but even so, i'm curious how everything will work out. Let me GUESS, IF THE GAME is released in a STAGGERED WAY, what i think it MAY happen: CONTENT AT THE GAME'S RELEASE: Main game, all three playable characters, Hard and Nightmare mode, cheat codes, boss rush mode, CONTENT TO BE RELEASED LATER ON AS FREE DOWNLOADS: local co-op, speed run mode, classic mode, 8-bit tracks, asynchronous online multiplayer, online challenge mode, roguelike dungeon, boss revenge mode. ( OBS: i didn't mention New Boss, Retro Level, Iga's biggest castle and orchestrated tracks because i assume these things are part of the main game, and thus, mandatory). What do you guys think?

Bloodstained is going to be released in June 18 2019 (or June 25 for switch). That's less than two months away and i think now it is the time to discuss something quite important for all of us: what you will do when the game is released and if you will avoid spoilers. This is a great community and people create threads and discussions all the time, about everything. When the game is released, we can ALL BET that there will be several new threads and comments about the game's features, weapons, shards, bosses. People giving tips, people asking for tips, people sharing secrets and so on. And that's great. But we also have people that want to play this game "like the old days". At their homes, playing the game by themselves without reading anything, trying to figure out and such. So, I decided to do something myself, and i want to know what you all will do. A week or so before the game's release (around June 10 or so), i will STOP logging at this forum and will not be here for quite a while. I will stop coming here and will only come back when i finished the whole game, played a bit with all extra characters and got a good taste of all the game's modes. I don't want to be spoiled by anything (spoilers aren't just about plots, they are also about scenarios, backgrounds, soundtrack, bosses, enemies, powers, weapons and such). That's my take on it. (I will probably warn people beforehand, not that anyone cares lol). I will do that some days before tha game's release because, well, you know...Leaks, piracy and such. So, what YOU WILL DO? HOW you will play? Alone, at your home, like the good old days of gaming? Online, taking info, sharing pictures and videos in real time, talking with others and having fun together? You will come here while playing to get the lastest tips and infos? Or you will avoid like, i guess, some people do, until at least you had a great taste of the game? That's what i wanted to know. That's all folks!

Here it is folks, the release date: JUNE 18 2019 / JUNE 25 2019. After so much wait and hype, the game is finally coming to us. This update has nothing but a new trailer, with a release date. But that trailer itself seems to have some new, interesting content that, of course, i'm going to break through: POOP vs NEW
I don't know how many noticed, but it is hilarious that it is written "poop" first, instead of "old" at the very first panel of old vs new. NEW SAVEROOM
Damn that looks gorgeous! The winged beast looks awesome, Miriam is sitting in a even more lady-like position, those several arcs in the background gives a great feeling. The saveroom works wonders for most of the castle areas, i think, but it probably doesn't fit very well in some places (the Galleon, for sure). I remember they said that the saveroom actually has some lore and it will be explained, so, i hope that is enough to make ammends. NEW VALAC
New Valac, whose new texture idea came from our lovely artist Mana herself. Looks menacing and way, way better than before. NEW GARDEN OF SILENCE
Garden of Silence gained a new, blueish fog alongside a whole new lightning work. The Axe Outsider looks even more menacing than it was and the whole thing just looks better. ZANGETSU FIGHT
First of all, pay attention to the layers. The pillars goes ALL THE WAY to the background. You have statues, a carpet, more pillars, stairs and lots of other small and beautifully crafted details. It's impressive how huge this improvement is. Not only that, we are seeing Miriam fightning Zangetsu using what appears to be Reflector Ray Shard. THE BLOOD POOL
The blood pool has such a HUGE difference between how it was and how it is now that it's practically a whole new area inside Castle Entrance. The blood still looks a bit odd but other than that, it's awesome. NEW SCENARIO (?)
This seems to be a new area. It looks very interesting. Wooden with rusted iron, pipes (green pipes at the background) axes moving back and forth at the scenario as a trap, among other things. I really think this area is something we never seen, looks awesome. FIRE CAVERN
The fire cavern sure is bright. Lava, stones, rocks and a flame Gieremund? Also, Miriam is using a funny high-tech fantasy-style (?) gun. THE GOLDEN CURTAINS
I think we saw this area before (i called it "golden staircaises, or something). Not much to say about it, just that it looks neat. The second picture may or may not be from the same area (it can also be from the entrance). RELEASE DATE
Here we have it. I WILL PROVE THEM WRONG!
I think you already did it IGA. I think you already did. that's all folks

hyugakojiroWell, i can definitely can see the difference now, although it isn't that much. Maybe it is my eyes, so this is not a criticism, but TO ME, it feels like some people became "graphics / FPS sommelier"... Small details that (me, at least) can barely be seen.

Maybe i don't have a perfect eyesight (well, i wear glasses) but i can't see a difference between 30 and 60 FPS on that link Ciel just showed us. I mean, it just looks...faster. But that doesn't mean it looks and feels better. I would like to really see the difference in quality between 30FPS and 60FPS like @holyc can, but i just can't, i guess. Or maybe i can if the difference is obvious. That example, at least, all i could see it is that it spins faster, but that means nothing to me. Does anyone have any video or something that compares two games, running 30 and 60 FPS? I'm curious now. Maybe i'm not capable of seeing the difference between 30 and 60 FPS,like some people that can't see 3D effects on movies?

darekaOooh, i get it now. What FPS is i did knew, but i didn't know what difference does it make when playing a game. Thanks for the explanation. Although i am a veteran gamer (i play games since 1993, when i was seven, with my old wooden Atari 2600) i think i just never cared about some specific technical stuff regarding games. I love computers and high-tech stuff, and i do understand a bit, but when we talk about games, i was always a player WAY more interested on fun factor than anything else. If a game is fun to play for me, that's all i care. I need to pick it up, play it and feel it. If it feels good, responsive and fun, that's all i want. If that can happen at 30 FPS, 60 FPS or whatever, doesn't concern me. It seems to me, though, that PC is usually a better option to achieve some of these technical stuff (such as better FPS), but i may be wrong. I am going to play Bloodstained on PC and PC is basically my main gaming console since i sold my old XBOX 360. Never bought another console after it. I simply feel that PC is a better, superior way of gaming, with all it's possibilities regarding games, mods, joypads, emulators and, most importantly, the fact that i don't need to buy a whole new gaming plataform after each generation, just update my PC sometimes. I mean...i still have the same almost 7 years old motherboard and processor. I just updated RAM and Graphics board and i can play the lastest games mostly on full. Maybe that's why i also don't care about FPS too much? (Or maybe because i live in a 3rd world country where gaming plataforms are much more expensive than graphics boards, processors and RAM memory).

Well, not much to say. I'm more focused on the next update. But news is news. I personally almost never understood the difference between FPS, if the game runs smoothly, that's all i care. But, that's me. Also, cool that our pretty Sunraiser was there!

Original article: variety.com/2019/gaming/features/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night-is-igas-nod-to-a-fan-favorite-1203176654/Transcription (sidenote: This article was broken for several days and couldn't be opened for some reason. i was only able to see it now, and it is interesting so, that's why i'm posting).
‘Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’ Is Iga’s Nod to a Fan Favorite
Koji Igarashi gets it. The man who is known simply as “Iga” knows why people are still in love with “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night” more than 20 years after its release. The first PlayStation title in the 33-year-old franchise redefined the series, shifting away from linear side-scrolling and adopting the gated exploration mechanics of Nintendo’s “Metroid” games. “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night” is directly inspired by Alucard’s adventure through Dracula’s castle, with gameplay so similar that fans will immediately draw lines back to Iga’s past work. “Bloodstained” was funded in 2015 on Kickstarter for more than $5.5 million, making it the seventh most funded project in the platform’s gaming category, which includes tabletop and video games. It’s the third most funded video game project. The nods in “Bloodstained” aren’t subtle, even if the enemies look nothing like their “Castlevania” counterparts. Possessed portraits (complete with the visages of Kickstarter backers who chipped in $1,500 or more) shake off the walls a fly at the player. Bobbing Medusa heads, bone-throwing skeletons, and fire-spitting bone pillars are all present, wearing new, demonic skin. If not for Iga’s stylistic influence, these carbon copies would feel cheap and hollow. Instead, the similarities are comforting and endearing. At PAX East, publisher 505 Games brought a new “Bloodstained” demo that continues on from the two previous previews. First, players took protagonist Miriam across a sinking ship. Then, at E3, she explored a devastated village and the opening area of a large sprawling castle not so dissimilar from Dracula’s abode. This isn’t “Castlevania,” though. That means Iga had to leave Dracula and the Belmont clan behind. In an E3 interview with IGN, he set the stage for “Bloodstained’s” story. The game is set during an industrial revolution, which has alchemists in fear for their way of life. To prove their value, they summon demons to terrorize the populace and commit ritual sacrifices. Miriam was one of the victims but has awakened to new powers that allow her to use the demons’ power to fight back. In the PAX East demo, Miriam has reached an area filled with large gears and enemies called Dullahammer that bob and weave like “Castlevania’s” Medusa Heads. “Bloodstained” features loot drops, including crafting materials, equipment, and shards that confer passive and active abilities. After fighting a few Dullahammer, a large glowing shard filled a quarter of the screen and swooped in to stab Miriam. The colorful display granted a familiar, one of five different types of shards. The Dullahammer familiar spawns a friendly floating head that zips at nearby enemies doing damage on contact. The shard system creates a great deal of “Bloodstained’s” gameplay customization. There are two active shard types. Trigger shards simply launch from Miriam in the direction she’s facing. These include a shield of possessed paintings, summoned bats, a wind blast that zips across the ground, and ice blasts that shoot out horizontally in both directions.
Directional shards can be aimed, Shooting arrows at hard to reach lanterns or candles is an effective trick. But being able to use the Petra Ray to turn enemies to stone or the Heretical Grinder to summon a chainsaw sword from a portal truly deliver Iga’s vision for “Bloodstained’s” aesthetic. There are also enchant shards that buff stats. A fifth type, effective shards, was present in the menu but did not seem active in the demo. The new demo also finally adds the long-awaited orchestral score. Composed by “Symphony of the Night’s” Michiru Yamane, the soundtrack completes the package and gives “Bloodstained” an almost eerily-familiar feeling that feels like a homecoming for Iga’s devout fans. Despite the blood and twisted creatures, “Bloodstained” is a bright, colorful game that evokes the look of stained glass without the hard edges. The creatures are still brutal, though… especially the bosses. The demo concludes with a protracted fight against two large, dog-like demons that surround Miriam and chase her around a spiral tower. Their varied attacks are hard to predict, with a repertoire that includes individual and coordinated lunges, flame breath, and tongue lashes. “Bloodstained” is shaping up to the game that “Symphony of the Night” and “Castlevania” GameBoy Advance and DS games have been waiting for. And with a summer 2019 release announced, that wait is almost over.

cyberakuma It is tricky, i tried a lot of times to get it right. To this day, there are still some exploits i wasn't able to do. Take a look at the videos that shows how to do it and pay attention to where Miriam is. There is a very specific spot that you have to position her, in order to work properly. As far as my knowledge, for some reason, this spot makes her not go either up and down, and that's where the glitch happens. When you do the move, you need to TURN AROUND and use backdash before the move ends or the glitch doesn't work. As the video poster explains: " It's done using the Katana dash slash (forward, back, forward, attack) from a platform in front of the wooden door. Midway through the slash, you have to turn Miriam in the opposite direction and hit backdash to get her to clip right through the door."

gunlord500Oh, that's good. There is even a save inside that Garden of Silence area. I saved there, but you can't go out (i think), so, if you save there, you are locked forever haaha. You can use that movement with Dull Blade to reach other areas too. Some of them has itens, showing that they actually planned that movement to be a small sequence breaking, i believe. At Galleon Minerva, you can take a "Critical Ring", if i'm not mistaken.

here
I was able to take a look at it too. I was able to glitch through and reach that area of Garden of Silence. As you can see on the video, it is just more pieces of Garden of Silence, with a bit of different scenery, and a weird piano. That piano has a song that is hidden on the game's files in two versions (one with a japanese singer), you can hear it here. These songs DOESN'T PLAY in that area, the user just put them on the video. They were datamined.
The area has no enemies, and if you try to "go out" at one of the trespassing zones, you will end up at other areas of the game, usually locked inside a wall.

I found this and thought it would be fun to share. This is, supposely, a map of the 2018 Demo with all areas revealed, including cheats / bugs / exploits to reach what players shouldn't have reached. I was able to glitch through some of these areas, but not all of them. Got it from here: gameplay.tips/guides/2690-bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night.html
