God damn it I just chipped my perfectly clean laptop with a kichen knife to cut some meat even though I was thinking "I should probably not do that next to my laptop" and next thing I know... ARGHHH. It's tiny and on an unimportant part but it's going to bother me forever! Time to look into a new $2000 laptop... I... I can only blame myself, I know... orz OCD is serious stuff. In spite of some serious flaws, I think Mirror of Fate had a couple ideas Igarashi should consider exploring for Bloodstained... First and foremost is how the Playable Characters interact with water. In the Classicvanias, water was always simply a deathpit. Poor Simon couldn't swim. But then in Symphony of the Night, Alucard would sink like an iron brick and walk underwater. Although he never needed to surface for air, he took damage until he got the Snorkel Relic. I understand Alucard's a vampire, but it never felt right to walk and jump underwater. Sometime later, Aria of Sorrow introduced new physics by making Soma float on the water like a piece of styrofoam. You can really feel the buoyancy if you jump kick into the water. But for gameplay purposes, the Skula soul allowed Soma to walk and breath underwater just like Alucard in Symphony of the Night. This is the key thing. Magic or relics should always justify this kind of unnatural behavior. In my opinion, Mirror of Fate just about nailed the water physics. The Playable Characters could finally swim, dive, and manage their oxygen supply. Water doesn't need to be a death pit, but drowning should still be a real threat. The swimmer physics also disabled combat --so no weapons, subweapons, or magic could be used in the water. Now we're talking about a challenge! IGAvania games are all about acquiring new skills to overcome obstacles... Shouldn't water be another dangerous obstacle for Miriam to overcome? Then later in the game, she can upgrade her powers to breathe underwater, walk and fight underwater, or walk on water like Soma-Jesus... Water issues aside... I also enjoy how Mirror of Fate made the Castle an interactive environment with various box and switch puzzles throughout the game. The Puppeteer and Carousel Engine puzzles were overkilled, but most other puzzles added depth and complexity without slowing the pace of the game. The Vertical Prison is probably my favorite puzzle in the entire Castlevania series. I'd strongly recommend Igarashi's team take the time to study these issues. Well that's all I have to say on this subject. What are your thoughts? I've not played Mirror of Fate, but I'm going to purchase it on steam myself and check it out. I'm semi-interested now!

The Alucard similarities are there also. Think of Gebel as Dracula, and think of Miriam as Alucard for a second. Gebel wants Miriam to join him in the castle, it belongs to her.... but Miriam is out to stop Gebel from doing what he's doing. That's essentially the same idea in SOTN. Except in this game it isn't father and son it's two friends. She does this after being in some sorta sleep state just like Alucard ( though alucard's lasted for hundreds of years)... The curse has overtaken Gebel ( Dracula is full on vampire) whereas Miriam is only partially cursed ( whereas Alucard is half vampire)... Boom. Good catch. Also "Symphony of the night" and "Ritual of the night". It just makes sense when you take into account of what you wrote `(*∩_∩*)′

Couldn'tfind avideo but it is the glitch in portrait of ruin that allowed you to duplicate the quest rewards from wind, pretty much giving you infinite money. Made powering up the miser ring a cake walk. Speaking of Portrait of Ruin glitches... Clearly working as intended. ●_●

Yeah Shanoa has a great sprite especially her double jump animation. Still, no castlevania sprite work tops SOTN. The amount of sprite work in that is astonishing.. Indeed. I want to see something top-notch like SotN on Bloodstained, or even better With Unreal Engine 4, I'm very confident we'll get something truly incredible!

That's awesome Motoko ! I have actually begun learning the ways of Buddhism after a Buddhist family had taken me and helped me out earlier this year. Learned a lot that has changed my life for the better. Glad it has went well, and I hope it continues to go well for your group!
