Oh! I did have one question to ask of Question (or maybe Angel-Corlux ): How exactly does Invert work? That is to say when you use it does the Castle invert for an instant but then returns back to normal? Or does it invert and then stay inverted until you use the ability again? In the section where it is used in the update, there is an open-sky. When Miriam used Invert she "fell" into the open sky but the castle then right-sided itself. Would Miriam have just kept "falling" if the inversion didn't stop (and then I guess fall back when the castle right-sided itself)? Would you be able to invert in one room and then walk into the next room and have the castle still be inverted? That's why I'm asking if Invert is an on/off toggle or just something you do that lasts for a short duration.

Yeah I'll chime in and say you can really see the changes and they are super appreciated. Difference between beta demo Bloodless and current Bloodless is night and day. Big props to Bloodless' English VA too. She actually sounds like a dangerous, mature vampire. Japanese VA was too high-pitched IMO and made her sound like a little girl comparatively.

I was speaking just on "when? yawn" concerns. "2019? 2091*" that is the most common and repeated thing about the game, and I even see it post-Direct That relates to my point though. There have been things that have happened over the course of Bloodstained's development that have annoyed or concerned parts of the backer base (especially in the past year). A backer base (or part of it) that is more annoyed or concerned is also one that is going to be more impatient, less trusting of what the devs say/do and have less faith that the project will turn out well. None of this will matter if/when Bloodstained comes out in the Summer and is good. But until then (or if common consensus is that it doesn't deliver) there is going to be some number of people following Bloodstained that are going to be snippy or applying a skeptical eye or are impatient.

I find it interesting and somewhat odd how very similar Bloodstained and Indivisible's situations are, yet the near 180 vocal backers have about them. Both are 2015 Kickstarter games delayed into TBA 2019, published by 505 Games, with similar releases of information. In Indivisible's case, the developers even advised their fans not to post questions and messages to them on the crowdfunding page because they weren't going to be looking there. Backers were fine with that, and the delay, and the release of information. They've only had 4 official updates since July. The difference, the main difference I believe, is just the scale of attention and excitement. What Bloodstained is doing isn't wrong, or even unique, and obviously and in actuality doing much better with comment section interaction and more regular updates. The difference is in us. And no, I'm not talking about Linux/Mac, that's a different situation entirely. This is more about how any and all response I see to this game on social media is jeering about the release date. In addition to "more total attention will bring more negative attention" as you've pointed out, I think two big issues regarding the difference in situations is that A) Until the recent Nintendo Direct I'd say almost all Bloodstained news since the beta demo (which was received well to be fair) had been bad news (Mac/Linux cancellations without refunds) or could be perceived as bad even if it wasn't ("wait why do they need Wayforward to jump in at the end, are they struggling?"). Little bits of bad news building up over months, even if none of it is catastrophic, is going to fray nerves and frustrate people fairly or unfairly. B) There are still residual concerns and frustrations with the visuals of Bloodstained that never existed with Indivisible. The later looked great from day one and has only improved since then. Putting aside the people who are still frustrated that Bloodstained is 2.5D instead of 2D (which IS a big sour point still), the Bloodstained devs have had to exert a LOT of effort to improve the visuals over the years. That's good on the devs but I also think reveals that large portions of the backer base/people following the project weren't happy with how the game was looking and that base discontent I think will lead to people being easily frustrated as well. Indivisible never looked bad so there was never any degree of impatience to see how it is improving (and it has improved quite a lot since the start). Bloodstained has often been critiqued for its visuals so the fact that it took us over 6 months to see some improvement from the beta demo probably got some people bothered.

Not perfect but the game is looking MUCH better <3 I think a lot of people's worries would have be alleviated if they could have seen footage like this earlier. But all that matters in the end is that improvement comes and come it has. I will say though the the "backer portraits" and the "backer pets that were turned into demons" stick out like a sore thumb. I mean I guess there was no way to avoid it but I feel my suspension of disbelief is going to be shattered every time I run across them in the game. Also mad props to Mana ! The cover she drew is a knock out!

Great podcast as usual! Thx for getting my questions in there. A shame it sounds like its going to be a long while before we hear more about BE:P but I guess I wasn't surprised. I also liked the discussion on what likely went down with the production teams on Bloodstained (earlier when teams were moving back and forth). Even though Ben was just speculating, you could tell his experience still allowed the discussion to be super informative. I wasn't expecting the board game discussion but eh, I didn't mind

I know this isn't the format that most posts are being made with "what's your fav Medtroidvanaia", etc in but I'd like to say that in this podcast I'd like to learn a lot more about Dangen and what its doing. How's Brave Earth: Prologue coming along? Any chance of a release soon? I'm interested in the other Dangen games of course but BE:P is the one most on my radar and that I'm most looking forward to.
Maybe/probably these questions were already on the table to be asked but I just wanted to say I'm super interested in the above topics.
