IntiCreates are really messing up on this whole situation. I am normally very, very lenient with problems of this sort because I always give the benefit of the doubt and I believe mistake can happen, and I try not to spread negativity and defend stuff if I feel like it's right for me to do so, but now I'm starting to get pissed off. I think that as of now, an official statement is just imperative, and it MUST show CLEARLY who's responsible for this mess. Because delaying codes is one thing, but not releasing the game for an entire console region is sheer lunacy and whoever's responsible must put his own face and accept the screw up. This can cause massive, damaging bad press for IGA and the main game and as far as I'm understanding they literally didn't do anything and it's not his fault. But try explaining that to people who'll be extremely pissed about it (and they have any right to be at this point) without an official statement who clears the situation about responsibility. Inti MUST release official informations about the DRM situation, which was pretty awkward per se, and especially on this absolutely outrageous mess-up on the Asian codes. I don't know if Question or Angel-Corlux is the most appropriate person to involve regarding this matter. I don't want to sound excessively harsh or tell you how to do your job but I believe that this situation has to be publicly addressed in some way. It's not about delays anymore, but we're literally talking about people not receiving the game entirely and that's pretty serious even if you don't take the expected media backlash into account. I apologize if I come off as arrogant or anything like that, but I'm pretty upset by the statement I read. Hey there, I totally understand that the situation is frustrating for the fans who are affected by the issues mentioned.
Regarding an official comment, one was just recently made by ArtPlay in the latest monthly Kickstarter Update.
Anything beyond that would have to be said by Inti Creates, unfortunately Question and I, or anyone else at 505 Games, can't really help in regards to CotM. As I'm sure you're aware, that's because Inti Creates was solely responsible for developing and publishing CotM.
We (505) hope and look forward to all outstanding issues with CotM being resolved as soon as possible.

Before you start thinking 'censorship' please watch the SXSW panel Igarashi and company were at. Pertinent area starts at 18:11. Then why don’t they keep them the original size? I call bs they caved. I’m going to make them regret it. Threats of any kind against community members, staff, the companies involved with Bloodstained or anyone else will absolutely not be tolerated, this is your only warning.

Where's the censorship.
Vepar went from a... I'm not really good at scale calculations but let's say a 124JJJJJ to a more modest 84DDDD. They're still boobs. They're still flapping and bouncing free. What's censored.
Because that's like saying that if you have two women going outside in public with their shirts off, the one with smaller boobs won't be citated. Is it that bigger boobs are somehow sexier and smaller boobs don't matter? That's the only way that argument makes sense.
Furthermore! From the people themselves in the Youtube comments because, obviously, somebody else chimed in about it:

The only thing guiding IGA is making Bloodstained the biggest, funnest, best looking game he's ever made, as HE envisions it. Now obviously that's within reason, and there are limits of course, but there hasn't been a single time where I even considered telling Iga "hey can we change/tone down x,y,z?", mostly because Iga doesn't work in the "extremes" of the artistic spectrum when it comes to things like violence or sexuality. Finally, specifically here with Vepar, there were a few major goals driving the rework effort, and some of them included things like making her look more menacing, more gothic/demonic (also due to fan feedback), as well as making her more attractive/seductive since her monster philosophy includes an element of functioning as a siren to lure sailors to their deaths. And making her more seductive also meant some changes to her face, it's much more detailed and realistic now if you take a good look. Obviously "more attractive" is always going to be subjective to the eye of the beholder (or in this case game creator) and at least personally I believe that there are tons of looks, archetypes and ways to be beautiful and attractive, but that's just a little context to assuage any concerns from anyone who thinks we're ever making any decisions based on external pressures related to any kind of agenda. "
So. Either they're lying to your face or you *just* might be acting a bit irrationally here.
I wasn't lying! Promise! The only part that's out of date is where at the start I say all online communication comes from me, now that we have an awesome community manager (Question) he's taken point.

Willing to bet those official communication results would be quite a bit different now. Also, was this or was this not open to the public? Someone earlier in this thread implied it was open to the public but then the update calls it the "backer feedback survey". This was the "Bloodstained Feedback Survey" and it was open to everyone who had a gmail account. These results would have been skewed by recent events with CotM, as here at 505 Games we only handle communication and publishing for the main game, Ritual of the Night.

Hello everyone,
The May 2018 Kickstarter Update has just been published here for everyone.
Below are all the results pulled straight from the "Bloodstained Feedback Survey" we recently published. Almost 27,000 fans answered and almost every question had a 95% answer rate or more! Thank you so much to everyone for taking the time to tell us how you feel on lots of different topics.
Just some quick disclaimers:
1) While all of these results provide very valuable insight for us at 505 Games and ArtPlay, and we always strive to satisfy our fans and their feedback, please remember that...
these survey results do not automatically guarantee future actions, features or plans.
Sorry to go big bad scary publisher for a moment, I just don't want anyone having any doubts and then feeling disappointed because they saw a result in this survey and thought "why wasn't this in the game? It was the most voted option!" etc.
2) We're not publishing all the unique "other" results from some of the questions because that would be impractical, but rest assured that we've collected and reviewed them all. Spoiler: None of the "other" answers beat any of the main options, but apparently lots of people want a Cat Girl Miriam outfit...how did I not think of that? haha
3) Also some real talk, we didn't have time to dress up the results and make them pretty, so the image quality on some of the answers isn't the best, and Google cut off the text for one set of answer options that were too long, for that one there's a separate clarification under it that will remind everyone what the options were. Bright side is, that since all of this is pulled straight from the survey you know it's all authentic! #silverlinings lol

Clarifying the possible answers since they got cut off:
Blue: Make the content available to every purchaser of the game regardless of the level backed. Red/Orange: Wait a period of time after launch, then release the content. Yellow: Change nothing, the content will remain exclusive to a select few forever. Green: Content will be available to everyone with alternate skins, that the $60 and above backers will receive in addition to the original skins. Purple: "Deluxe Edition" at launch that will contain the extra content for a price of at least $60.Light Blue: Other

Welcome! I am a little confused though, so what will Angel do (or is he doing) from now on? As Enkeria mentions, my "real" job is leading the comprehensive publishing effort for the game as Bloodstained's Global Brand Manager. I've basically been moonlighting as the community manager since coming on to the project.
I'm really excited to have Question with us and for the new heights he'll help us achieve with growing our community! Plus, he's coming in at a perfect time because publishing and brand efforts for the game are really starting to heat up more than ever, and I have a LOT of exciting stuff I need to work on. So much so that if Question hadn't come now, I would have had to have stepped back from my extra work as the interim CM and the community would have suffered as a result.
So basically, all that extra time and long hours I spent filling in those community shoes will now be dedicated towards making Bloodstained even more successful and making more awesome stuff happen for everyone.
Having said that, I'm still going to be online "everywhere" and you can talk to me just like always.

Hey there everyone, most, if not all of these questions will be answered as we progress through the marketing and launch campaign of the game.
*Also, I would caution against making assumptions like "kickstarter closing = game is finished". Unless you hear an official member of the team making a comment about progress etc., you shouldn't tie one announcement to something else that wasn't explicitly talked about.
I only mention this because I remember when people got excited we announced the voice recording was finished and a good amount of people were like "ermagerd that's always done last so game is almost done!". Truth is that every game is different and every company / dev is different.
Best bet is always to take each announcment only as what is being said.

Angel-Corlux I forgot to ask about this before, so I suppose now's the time. Do you know of the status of the Retro Level? (the $2,250,000 stretch-goal) Some folks were worried that it's not separate from the Prequel Mini-Game (now Retro Spin-Off Game). Is this Retro Level going to be part of the main game? Hey there Galamoth, no reason to worry, the retro level always has been and still is separate from the minigame Inti Creates is making.

Hey Taburisu, I appreciate your candor to my responses and your opinions, really do. All I can tell you is what I know to be the truth, being so closely involved with the project. While there were certain people that complained about Vepar's breasts because "omg boobs offensive etc etc." I can personally guarantee you that being offended has absolutely zero weight in any decision we make for the game. (within reason ofc)
Now the changes to Vepar were definitely partly inspired by the feedback gathered from fans, but just like with anything, Iga decides if to take action on feedback, and if so, what the change will be, no one else. And to give you even further insight, when the changes were made there was the discussion internally whether we were crossing a line and people may be offended because the breasts now look more perky and detailed, while still remaining huge, and to that concern I was immediately like "lol no I don't care, if this what you believe / want the most, then you do what you want and I will be the 200 foot tall titanium wall that blocks anyone demanding changes because of external/personal agendas". You contradict yourself? While I like new vepar texture, from what you wrote, the complaint did carry some weight and it was enough to "inspire" Iga to make the changes. Please be careful when receiving feedback. In this case, we have a group of people complained about the size, please do not ignore the other group of people who like the original size. Hey there, as freddythemonkey points out, I was referring to all of the feedback the team received about Vepar. Her style, looks, how she fit in, not just the subset of fans that didn't like the size of her breasts.

Angel-Corlux Thank you for this very personal and warm response. By your words it seems that we are both in the same boat against censorship and your explanations should be enough to calm worries about that issue, but at the end of the day when I go back to see the Vepar cutscene ... I can't help but feel that something is wrong. I'd like to make it clear that my complaints are not really about a pair of big breasts, what worries me is that this is the first evidence that they've lowered the tone in the game. Perhaps it's true that the final decision on this has been made by IGA, but I'm afraid it's too naive to think that there are no conditioning factors. I believe the desire to please the Western public is the main reason, the infamous "cultural differences" in matters of sexual content. After all, the nature of Kickstarter projects means that people's feedback is taken too much into account. Although in this case the western feedback clashes with the philosophy of a Japanese game. Even if the team has only lowered the tone of a design (as far as we know), that marks a dangerous precedent and opens the door to more adjustments in content that may be controversial. As I said at the beginning, I don't question your sincerity and good intentions, and I would like to say that I feel relieved, but circumstances make it very difficult for me. P.S. Pure Miriam I found your message very appropriate, and those examples of controversial content are really interesting. Although personally I believe there is a deliberate tone down in the new Vepar design, regardless of other "sensitive" factors of the game. Totally understand Taburisu, glad we could have such an open an honest convo, and it's ok if you still have doubts and reservations (or even just flat out like the old look more). As a final note, I'm just going to say that I think you won't have anything to worry about once you and everyone else gets their hands on the game hehe.

I don't think he misrepresented. Look at this way, this game is Iga's work of art if you will. He made the decision to reduce the breast size, however, because he did it in the midst of people requesting the reduction it gets presented as them doing it as a form of self-censorship. There is no consideration here that just maybe Iga and his team just felt the over large bust just didn't fit their vision and decided to tone it down to fit their vision and their artistic style. At what point, do you break the line between the developer just adjusting their art cause it fits better vs when it's being done for self-censorship? Ok, maybe IGA suddenly woke up one morning and decided to reduce the breasts of the Vepar, or that may be because the development team does not want to receive bad reviews by some American sector of people who feel offended by anything with a little of sexual tone. I, personally, believe in the most realistic option. It's clear that this conversation does not lead anywhere. I 've read many anti vs pro censorship discussions and it's always the same. Those who defend it make thousand of excuses to show that there is no censorship and those who hate it feel annoyed because they think they're being deceived. So we agree to disagree. Let me point out that Vepar is still bare chested, several leading ladies in the game are extremely attractive and well endowed, and there are several elements in the game that revolve around sexuality or being provocative, whether we're talking about monsters, situations, characters etc. (The vast majority of the game hasn't been revealed so I know that's hard to quantify right now). If we were really making changes to appease any sort of external agenda or people being offended at content that included elements of sexuality, then you'd be seeing much more drastic visible changes to the game than just a slight reduction of Vepar's breasts from super huge to "only" huge. (I think it's technically DD down from F or something IIRC)
Now the changes to Vepar were definitely partly inspired by the feedback gathered from fans, but just like with anything, Iga decides if to take action on feedback, and if so, what the change will be, no one else. And to give you even further insight, when the changes were made there was the discussion internally whether we were crossing a line and people may be offended because the breasts now look more perky and detailed, while still remaining huge, and to that concern I was immediately like "lol no I don't care, if this what you believe / want the most, then you do what you want and I will be the 200 foot tall titanium wall that blocks anyone demanding changes because of external/personal agendas".
I also understand your request for a "censorship toggle" option, and to be totally honest making such an option would be a huge pain and bad use of resources for a LOT of reasons, but above all else it wouldn't make any sense, let me tell you why: Iga says ok and asks me what differences are going to be toggled when selecting this option, so then I include the following:
- Vepar original breasts - ..... - uhm -......
Haha you see what I mean? There would be nothing to put into such an option because there's nothing in the game being censored. Technically the only other thing is how much skin is initially revealed by Bloodless when she's getting out of the tub, but that's only for Chinese versions of the game because China has different standards for certain ratings.
Anyway, hopefully this all makes sense, and you can trust what I'm saying, hopefully you know my mantra by now ("I won't always be able to talk about something, but whatever I do say will be the truth")
And last but not least, I'm going to try and walk the tightrope here (speak personally while remaining professional) and say that as a fan of countless other games, some where sexuality was a prominent pillar of the fandom, I've suffered first hand when games I love get manipulated by external agendas and personal social / political / religious opinions of staff involved with the game/project who feel it's ok to use the project they work on as their own personal megaphone for activism.
Every time I've seen it happen, in the far past and very recently, it made me vow that if I ever was in that position I would never do that, and lo and behold fate has been kind to me and now I have the power to make sure that's the case. Hope that helps clear up some of your concerns, but please always feel free to be honest and bring critiques and complaints to me/us, I want to hear it all, because I want to face it openly and head on, treating you and everyone else like adults with a brain instead of like wallets with switches I need to flip. (whether we end up making you happy or not)

I just hope that this feedback does not end up causing new censorship in the game as in the case of the Vepar. Sometimes it's better for developers to make all the decisions without external pressures. Hey Taburisu, the Vepar changes definitely weren't intended as censorship, our goal was to actually make her more seductive and realistic. If we had wanted to censor her we would have given her a seaweed bikini or something lol. But like I've told others elsewhere, we will never let external agendas or activism of any kind influence the way we make the game. Iga is making the game he wants, with 100% support from me and 505 Games, no doubt about it.
